Notes
 A skilled hand-to-hand fighter and wielder of unusual throwing darts, he can force most saves and take down opponents of higher PL. His knowledge of tactics allows him to out-think many targets.

 His personal training and study into chemicals and science, along with a natural knack for them, has made him one of the world experts in chemicals and plant-based toxins. Using his Inventor feat, he will almost always have 1 unusual chemical or toxin on-hand just incase.

 Against groups he prefers to use unarmed combat, taking down the weaker opponents before targeting the stronger ones. He saves his "Death blossom" only if he intends to kill someone, only killers and those as bad will face this deadly toxin. His acid darts are designed with glass tips, breaking on contact and only melting non-living matter.

 His "Rose" toxin is one of his more unique creations. He analyzed his original toxin and removed some elements from it, so it would only cause a short-term transformation and not mutate the subject any further.

Description of Powers: While having no true powers of his own, Nightshade has an arsenal of gear and exotic toxins at his disposal. He is well-known for his plant-derived toxins and use of unusual chemicals, some of which the feds still haven't cracked how they were made.

Due to his extensive training, both self-taught and some while in military school for 5 years, he can attack in multiple ways and force his opponents to think of new tactics to take him on. He has developed an immunity to all poisons and toxins due to working closely with them for over 13 years and self-testing some of his inventions.

History:
Making Friends and Enemies
Will grew up in a small town in The United States, having a normal life with his two parents, father, businessman and mother, nurse. Small for his age and picked on a lot for being smart, he turned inward for comfort and took to reading books. Even at a young age, he found chemistry and science to be interesting, finding he had a knack for understanding it. But even this didn't keep him from being picked on and bullied, as they targeted him in school and when he wasn't at home.

Roy Callman noticed how his son seemed to come home almost every day with rips and tears in his clothing. Concerned for his only son's safety, he enrolled him into a Tae Kwan Do class to teach him how to defend himself. At first Will didn't care for the lessons and kept to himself, til he made a friend in Cassie Marks. She was able to get him out of his shell and encouraged him to take the lessons more seriously. Finally having a reason to come to the classes, Will started to cheer up and even spent time with Cassie outside of the Tae Kwan Do classes.

Quickly becoming close friends, they found they had a lot in common as they both loved to read and were picked on for being smart. A couple of years later and both Will and Cassie were the two best students in the TKD class, yet they still had one big problem. Brandon Cook, a 15 year old who was 6'4" and incredibly strong, used his strength to bully and pick on those smarter than him. He especially loved to target Will and Cassie, going out of his way to mess with them.

Turning Point in Many Lives
But he finally crossed the line one day. As he was beating up on a 10 year old boy, Cassie and Will showed up and tried to subdue him but he fought dirty. Using a large tree branch, he proceeded to knock down Will from behind then repeatedly hit Cassie til she was unconscious and bleeding. Waking up in the hospital, Will had minor injuries but Cassie was in intensive care due to internal injuries. Since there were no witnesses to the attack except Cassie and Will, and Brandon had an alibi from his "friends", it was their word against Brandon's.

Enraged and frustrated, Will took to working on his own toxin to teach Brandon a lesson. Using mostly plant enzymes taken from the flowers in his mom's garden, he worked feverishly on his concoction. Cassie was doing okay, still in the hospital but healing and stable. Will visited her each day to check up on her condition, glad she was getting better and starting to rethink his plan for revenge on Brandon. One month finally pasted and Cassie was out of the hospital, still needing to rest some more before she could return to the Tae Kwan Do classes. Will was happy to be hanging out with his best friend again and was going to completely forgot about his plans for Brandon, thinking they would only get him in trouble. But that didn't last long, as things took a turn for the worse only a few days later.

As Cassie was heading home from the mall on her own, Brandon ambushed her to teach this girl a lesson for even thinking of standing up to him. Striking from behind, he hit her hard, knocking her to the ground where he then proceded to continuely beat her til she was unconscious and bleeding badly. Taking off, Brandon left Cassie there, not caring if she lived or died. One of the neighboors stumbled upon her and called an ambulance, Will showed up just before Cassie was taken away to the hospital. Using the last of her strength, she whispered to Will telling him it was Brandon who attacked her, then pasted out.

Going to the hospital with Cassie, Will waited for hours wondering about her condition as she was being checked out. Despite surgery being done, she had lost a lot of blood and internal injuries complicated things. Young Cassie Marks died that day, the injuries to her too severe considering she was still weakened from her previous attack. Will was enraged, as he told the police what Cassie said to him and they said there were no witnesses or evidence against Brandon again.

Point of No Return
Rushing home, Will got his toxin out and went to confront Brandon on his home turf. Brandon only laughed when Will confronted him, not seeing him as a threat anymore than Cassie was. He even thought it was funny to speak ill of the dead, bashing on Cassie. Will snapped and lunged at Brandon, injecting him with his toxin made to teach this psychopath a lesson. As Brandon shrugged off the stinging sensation in his arm, he started to have trouble seeing clearly and keeping his balance. Collapsing to the ground, he started to go into seizures and a neighboor who watched the whole scene called an ambulance.

Brandon was examined and in stable condition after a few hours, but in a deep coma which none of the doctors couldn't explain. Taken to court over his actions, the judge sentanced Will to military school since he was underaged and considering the circumstances of the attack. Shipped out a few days later, he was upset it had come to this and how he had lost his best friend. Justice didn't seem in sight for Cassie, nor for Will due to the legal system protecting such thugs as Brandon. So somehow he would have to do it himself.

Justice Has a New Name
At military school he played the part of a good student, learning all he could and keeping in line while secretly working on his own chemical concoctions. Finally having a growth spurt, he was no longer small for his age and by the time he turned 16 was 5'11". Developing his physical abilities and fighting skills, he was now almost as strong as he wsa smart. Graduating at the top of his class, he was sent home to his parents at the age of 18.

Things had changed in the area as new businesses showed up and old ones shut down. But one thing still hadn't changed, bullies still ran the area and picked on those weaker than them. Will remembered Cassie and what he had promised himself, enough was enough. He started making his own toxins and chemicals to scare these thugs straight, if that didn't work he would have to finish what he starts. Within one month of his return bullying in the area had all but disappeared, fear of whom the press had dubbed Nightshade kept them from messing with kids most of the time.

But soon feds were brought in, under the assumed belief this Nightshade character was a terrorist. Forced to flee, Will took his portible lab and van heading out on the road to find places where bullies were messing with kids. It didn't take long for him to end up in a California town with a group of organized thugs controlling the area. He tested out his new "Rose" toxin, an altered and safer version of his original toxin he used on Brandon. Within a month the thugs had moved on or were in the hospital still recovering, shocked by being turned into females. Although he had brought some peace to the area, the local law enforcement and feds were attempting his capture once again. Forced to move on, he knew he would find another place with bullies and thugs needing to be taken care of.

Now at the age of 25, Will has become imfamous as the vigilante Nightshade. Wanted all over, he has to hide his appearance when out as Nightshade to keep from being identified on sight. But he still believes what he is doing is right, stopping bullies and thugs like those who took his best friend from him all those years ago. Especially since his old enemy, Brandon Cook, was back and had somehow mutated into a green-skinned female and was calling herself Bloodthorn. This was one fight Brandon hoped he was ready for, so he could finally put Cassie's spirit at peace.

Description:Will is an athletic Caucasian man who appears to be in his mid to late 20s. His dusty blond hair is worn short and he has stunning gray eyes. He almost always dresses in an armored jumpsuit, black and designed to blend into the shadows, with many of his gear secured to it. He has a portable chemicals lab which he carries around in a backpack with him on missions/jobs.

He still has his simple, large deep blue van, used as a movable base and lab to work out of. He has armor-plated the interior and has a bullet-proof winshield tinted dark to hide his appearance.

Notes
 A large, violent male transformed into a small female, Bloodthorn is a mentally unstable psychopath and will not hesitate to kill. Although lacking her former strength and size, she has adapted and become even more dangerous in her new form.

 As a male Brandon was a bully. As Brenda she retains these skills, knowing how to push around others. Her high Intimidate skill, along with her feats in Intimidation, make her a force to face. Able to scare up to 5 individuals at a time without penalty and can demoralize her opponents for a -3 penalty to attack rolls and checks for one round.

 Transformed into a sentiant, humanoid plant, Bloodthorn has many adaptations based upon it and new talents. She can easily climb surfaces using her vine-like arms and thorn-like fingers, has an enhanced endurance and stamina, and has an instinctive survival ability in the wilds.

 Unfortunately her plant physiology has made her vulnerable to fire and heat, along with defoliants being deadly to her.

 Her arms have been covered in small thorns, which she can use to deadly effect as she rips into her targets. Also her plant-like flesh is flexible and makes her able to move through areas others would have trouble in.

 She can concentrate to regrow parts of her which are damage or destroyed, making it difficult to destroy her completely. If killed by anything other than defoliants she can literally regrow herself completely within a day, bringing her back to life. She recovers from Bruised status once per round, Injured status once per round, Staggerd status once per 5 minutes, and Disabled status once per 5 minutes. She heals ability damage at the rate of 1 per 5 minutes.

 Bloodthorn has learned how to consciously control plants, able to send vines out from any plant to entangle targets, project her senses through any plant upward to 20 miles away from her location, cause plants to grow to massive size, and create pollen which can cause fatigue.

 Her most devistating ability is the capability to alter her form to take on more plant traits. She isn't that creative yet, taking on forms which are simple and can be used for brutal combat. See listed forms above for most common.

Description of Powers:Bloodthorn's physiology has been altered to a plant-like state, giving her many of the traits of a plant. Nature is her home now and as long as she has sunlight and water she can survive anything. She is highly flexible and can regenerate at a high rate. Along with this, she has thorns on her arms which can be used as deadly weapons and can communicate with and understand all forms of plants.

She has the power to control all forms of plants, making them grow their roots out to entangle anything she commands, grow to massive size or project her senses through. She still hasn't learned the full extent of this power and could come up with anything new in the middle of a fight.

Her plant physiology also allows her to self-adapt and take on more plant traits at will. These can vary from bark-like skin, growing larger like a tree, elongating her limbs like vines, generating plant-based toxins, etc. She normally keeps to making herself larger, tougher and elongating limbs for combat.

History:
Rage Without a Purpose
Brandon Cook, born to blue-collar parents and not having much going for him, started to lash out at those smaller or smarter than him from an early age. Even in 1st grade he was known as a violent child and his parents tried to seak help. Nothing seemed to work and eventually they had to move to another town after his dad got a new, better paying job.

At first Brandon seemed to calm down and try to make friends with some of the local kids. But this didn't last long, as he was teased for being big for his age and for not being that smart. Lashing out once again, even the local bullies in the area soon learned not to mess with Brandon Cook. The terror of the neighboorhood, his dad was old friends with the local chief of police who went to high school with him and helped to keep Brandon out of juvi.

The trouble Brandon got into escalated over time, turning from simply pushing kids around and scaring them, to full-scale beatings leaving several kids in the hospital. But soon things changed when a kid named Will Callman started hanging outside more with a girl named Cassie Marks. Brandon took great pleasure in tormenting these two, from simple harrassment to minor assult. Even though they were trained in self-defense, he was just too big and strong for them to take on.

Untouchable and Unstoppable
Things took a turn for the worst a few months after Brandon's 15th birthday, his favorite uncle had pasted away and he wished to lash out at someone to vent his anger and frustration. A young 10 year old boy was outside playing when Brandon spotted him, he couldn't resist the temptation and started to beat up the poor kid. Will and Cassie both were walking nearby and spotted him, charging into action to save the poor boy. Fighting dirty as usual, Brandon let the kid run away and went over towards a nearby tree, picking up a large, thick branch to use as a weapon.

Slipping behind the tree, he was able to hit Will from behind as they tried to corner him. He then proceeded to hit Cassie over and over in a blind rage, til she was unconscious and bleeding. Running for it, he knew he would be in trouble this time if he were caught. He heard later on that Cassie was in bad condition but would live, while Will was already home and holding himself up in some shed. Brandon felt invincible, as the police had no evidence he was had done the attack and now thought he couldn't be caught. Kids in the area took to hiding inside, avoiding walking the streets without an adult in fear they could be Brandon's next victim.

Just a little over a month afterwards, Brandon spotted Cassie Marks walking home and decided to teach her a lesson about standing up to him. He struck from hiding, hitting her from behind and knocking her to the ground. He then ranted about how no little girl should think about messing with him, as he continued to beat the still-recovering-from-his-previous-attack Cassie unconscious. He continued hitting her til she was bleeding from a gash on her forehead and severe injuries all over.

Bully Finally Beaten, Everything Changes
Seeing his work, he decided to leave Cassie there on the ground and walked away, not caring if she lived or died. He heard the next day Will had went with her to the hospital and she had died from internal bleeding and injuries. Once again he had some of his "friends" give him an alibi and for some reason the police had no evidence once again it had been Brandon who did the attack, not even DNA evidence. But what really got him about all of this was when Will showed up to confront him. What made this whimp think he could take him on, it was laughable and Brandon started to bash Cassie, saying she was nothing but a stupid slut.

Unfortunately this was the final straw for Will, as he snapped and lunged at Brandon, jabbing him with something but it didn't hurt that much. As the stinging sensation in his arm built up, he started to have trouble seeing clearly and keeping his balance. Collapsing to the ground he started to go into seizures which seemed to last for hours til he slipped into unconsciousness. Waking up after what seemed like only a few hours to him, Brandon felt weird as he sat up in his hospital bed.

He felt lighter and there was strange red hair in his face, as well as a weight on his chest. Looking down he was shocked, he was a she now! Whatever that geek Will had injected him with had mutated his form, turning him into a slender female with red hair down the middle of her back, intense green eyes and strange green skin. When a doctor came into the room, he explained it had been 12 years since the attack and how his body had been changing all thse years. He had only aged a few years and looked to be around 18, thanks to changes in his DNA. When Brandon (having to think of herself as Brenda now) asked about her parents, she was told they moved 5 years ago without leaving a forwarding address.

New Form, New Ways to Bully
Enraged at what happened to him and being abandoned by the few people he cared about and thought cared about him, Brenda flew into a rage and started trashing her hospital room. When the orderlies showed up to restrain her, she subconsciously called out to a potted plant in her room and its vines grew out tangling up the 3 men. Shocked and intrigued by her sudden new powers, she took out a nearby window and escaped into the forest 1 mile from the hospital. Living on her own for months, she began to learn what she was capable of and found as long as she had sunlight and water she had no need to eat.

She had become a living plant, capable of psychically controlling other plants and changing herself to become more plant-like at will to gain even more power. Angry at the world and still a bully at heart, the new Brenda began calling herself Bloodthorn and started causing chaos with her random attacks on cities and people. It wasn't long before she had made a name for herself and was wanted by authories across the United States. The transformation along with her change in gender and the lose of 12 years of her life have driven Bloodlust insane, she is not above killing and doesn't care if they are children or adults. Yes, these new powers suited her just fine and she was going to take her rage out on the world with them.

Description:Brenda is now a slender female with a flexible body, green-skinned and appearing to be in her late teens. She has rose red hair down to the middle of her back and green eyes the color of a rose stem. She wears simple green dresses made out of large leaves, still alive. She no longer has any of the needs of a normal human, staying in the wild forest when not rampaging in a city. She is actually calmer and more in control than she was as Brandon, even finding her intelligence increased to average human level.

Took a while to write-up the linked background of these two, plus I did a rewrite of both their backgrounds and stats. Nightshade and Bloodthorn have a linked history, both in many ways the cause of the other becoming what they are. Hope you guys enjoy them, will get some more characters up soon.

Thanks for the kind words, WH. I'm doing much better now and finding my creativity just amped up lately. Glad you like my characters.

And Taliesin, thank you. Pandaman's backgrounds for his characters and White Howler's characters inspired me to flesh out the backgrounds of my own characters. Thanks for the welcome back as well.

Next thing I'm doing is going through all of my previous characters before Nightshade and Bloodthorn, and fleshing out their backgrounds and modifying their stats some. Make their stats more in line with the type of character they are, instead of trying to meet all of their PL caps.

Thank you for the kind words, I'm not going to have any new characters for a little while though. Although since you like the original versions of my characters, I guess I will just post the revamped versions up as Version 2.0 for each of them.

Notes
 Here is version 2.0 of Shadowstrike, with a revamped history somewhat and altered stats to go with it.

 Her skills and feats skill show her extensive training in the art of ninjutsu and taijutsu. Along with the ki training she has had, these make her a versitial fighter. Skilled in the art of stealth, along with her combat training there are few she can't hit. She tends to use her environment to her advantage and ambushes her opponent. Along with her acrobatic skills, she can feint in combat easily and take her opponents off-guard.

 Her Craft (artistic) skill is mostly a hobby, she loves to draw in her free time. Her Knowledge (current events) and (popular culture) are due to her studying up on other superheroes, as well as keeping in touch with things normal teens like.

 She works well as a support character in a fight, distracting opponents from her teammates so they can hit them hard. Although she shouldn't be counted out in a fight either, her extensive skills and training make her able to take on opponents stronger than her. Her Ki-based powers make her able to move around in a fight quickly, along with striking hard. A favorite stunt is to push her Strike power and use an enhanced Stunning Attack to take out an opponent who conventional attacks have no effect on.

 Her mutant power is a form of sound dampening field which she generates. While it is active she makes no sound at all, as well as being completely immune to any sonic damage. Other forms of sonic attack seem to somehow bypass this defense though. Her best strategy is to use her smoke pellets to blind her opponents, then mask her own sound and hit with Sneak attack over and over from concealment while blind-fighting.

Description of Powers:She has the mutant power to generate a sound dampening field around herself. This completely mask all sound from her, as well as preventing her from being harmed by sonic attacks while it is active. Her other powers are ki-energy based due to her training in ninjutsu, allowing her to leap great distances, run as fast a cheetah and strke with incredible by channeling her ki-energy into her punches and kicks.

History
Life Growing Up Rich and Overprotected
Jamie Sonders appeared for all intent and purposes to have a normal life. She lived with her well-off parents in a small town about 100 miles from Freedom City, in a small mansion and in security. Both of her parents were businessmen, owning a successful business in the town and worried about their daughter's safety. Hiring her godfather, a trained special forces agent and ninja named "Uncle" Steve Pern, as her bodyguard to protect her, they felt she was safe now.

Placed in a private school, Jamie didn't have many friends due to her shy nature. Keeping to herself mostly, she developed her skill in drawing and became known for fantastic pieces. Her parents not being around that much still noticed she kept to herself most of the time. Trying to get her out of her shell, she was enrolled in a gymnastics class and showed a natural talent for the training. Finally she was making friends with the other girls in her class, coming out of her shell.

She still had some troubles from bullies at her private school, having to either avoid them or get hurt. Steve decided to do something about this, taking Jamie under his wing and training her in the art of self-defense. In short time, the bullies learned to leave Jamie alone and she gained a newfound confidence.

Fate Can Be Cruel
But young Jamie's run of luck was about to end, as her parents left on a business trip to Europe. Flying over an unknown city, militant forces in the area were testing out a new weapon system and ended up shooting down the plane which Jamie's parents were on. Left an orphan at a young age, she was left in the custody of her godfather Steve. He raised her as his own and decided to move away to help Jamie move on after her parents' deaths.

Handing over the business to the stockholders and selling off the small mansion which had been Jamie's home for the first 6 years of her life, they moved to Freedom City. Finding a nice brownstone in the Bayview area and settling down, Steve had to take care of everything as Jamie was still in shock over the lose of her parents. Home schooling her for the time being, Jamie slowly started to recover from the shock and open up again.

A New Home, A New Start
Meanwhile Steve took to advancing Jamie's training in self-defense, expanding it to full training in the art of ninjustu. Taking to the training with ease, Jamie used it as an outlet for her frustration at not being able to save her parents somehow. Her previous training in gymnastics was a great aid in her agility, also having a natural agility which Steve hadn't seen a girl so young before.

Trying to help to get her mind at ease, the training included meditation at first which she seemed to enjoy and find easy. Soon she was training in the ki techniques which Steve had learned, showing a knack for it which shocked Steve. She rapidly gained skill and ability, training hard even in the early morning hours and becoming closer and closer in skill to Steve each day.

Her determination was a rare thing in someone so young, increasing as each year pasted. Soon she was a young teen, considering Steve her dad now which made him proud. But with becoming a teen came the usual parent/teen arguements. She wished to help out others with the training she has had over the years, yet Steve feared for her safety due to the metahuman criminals which Freedom City was known for.

Times Change and So Do Little Girls
Deciding to rebel and do what she thought was right, Jamie snuck out at night to fight street crime. The police noted that the number of gang members in the area was down, along with the number of muggings, but had no idea of the source except one rumor about someone who strikes from the shadows without warning.

But soon Steve's worries came true as one night Jamie got in over her head. A local gang known for having low-level metahumans decided to set a trap for who had come to be dubbed "Shadowstrike". Out on her nightly patrol, Jamie leaped down into an alley where she heard screams for help coming from. As she landed, the sound of a hyena laughing could be heard from behind her.

A metahuman member of the gang able to mimic sounds had tricked Jamie, annoying her greatly for falling for such an obvious ploy. Suddenly surrounded by a group of 6 guys in their teens, she was worried as the sound mimicer aimed at her with his mouth and blasted. Suddenly, all was silently as Jamie found she was making no sound and dampening all sound near her.

Acting quickly, she leapt into action and disabled 3 of them with several quickly snapkicks to the gut. Using the fact she made no noise to her advantage, she was able to backflip onto a fire escape and leap down to ambush two other members of the gang taking them out with a swift double-kick. But the last member of the gang was a big bruiser, carrying a steel baseball bat and standing at over 6' tall.

Dodging in and out as she struck at the big brute, she found even her most powerful blows not even phasing him. As he closed in to the cornered Jamie, hurling the baseball bat above her to prevent her escape, hope seemed lost. She started to think about what Steve had said, she was now facing a metahuman criminal who she couldn't handle and began to think he was right.

Fate Once Again Steps In
Suddenly from atop a nearby rooftop a shadowy figure leapt down, taking down the giant brute with a powerful roundhouse kick to the head.As the guy went down Jamie just stood there, in awe of who she now recognized as Raven of the Freedom League. "Alright, miss. I think I need to talk to your parents, better just tell me who you really are and where you live." Raven stated, concerned about such a young girl being out here on her own and fighting thugs like this.

Not wishing to get in trouble with her dad, Jamie tossed down some smoke pellets and made a break for it. Flipping up a fire escape, she quickly made her way to the roof but not quickly enough as she came face to face with The Raven once again. Suddenly grabbed from behind, The Raven tried to hold Jamie in an arm lock. "Don't freak out, kid. I'm not going to hurt you, I just wish to speak to your parents about your activities. Do they even have a clue about what you are up to at night?" Raven said as she struggled to hold the slippery girl. Just barely twisting free of the arm lock, Jamie made a break for it again but was stopped as The Raven used a bola to tie her up.

Knowing it was no use to keep fighting, she stood up as best she could and spoke up finally. Teling the truth about her parents and where she lived, The Raven escourted Jamie home where a worried and upset Steve was waiting. About to yell at Jamie for what she had been up to, The Raven spoke up her behalf.

Sometimes Getting Caught Can Be A Good Thing
The Raven explained how Jamie had held her own against bad odds with very impressive skills. Also how she had observed Jamie and the suddenly absense of noise around her, along with a sonic attack proving ineffective on her. She was a mutant, her powers having manifested in a way to protect her from her current threat.

The Raven stated that with additional training Jamie could be a true hero someday, going on to explain about the Claremont Academy. Taken aback by all of this, Steve agreed to let Jamie go to the Claremont Academy for further training, along with traditional schooling. Excited by the prospect of training and going to school with other kids who have powers, Jamie had a look on her face of pure glee. Seeing this Steve knew he couldn't hold her back any longer and that having agreed to let her go to this special school was the best thing for her right now.

As she packed up and was getting ready to leave, Steve told her good bye and to do her best. Arriving at the Claremont Academy, she was shown around by one of the senior students called Nereid. It seemed they had several things in common and at the end of the tour at her new dorm room, Nereid told Jamie to come and hang out with her sometime. As she unpacked and was settling into her dorm room, Jamie started to think about how she was finally going to a school with other students after almost 9 years of being home schooled.

Hoping to fit in with the rest of the students, she had already spotted a guy on the tour who she found out was named Raymond Gardener, Jr. and was the son of Captain Thunder. Having been sheltered so much from normal school and other kids for years, she quickly got a crush on this guy who seemed really nice. Maybe being caught by The Raven had been the best thing to happen to her in a long time.

Description:Jamie is an attractive young lady, possessing an athletic build and looking to be in her mid-teens. (15 years old, you can vary this if you wish.) She has shoulder length brown hair and a pair of intense blue eyes whose gaze can be unsettling. She has a slight tan to her Caucasian skin and is short for her age (5'0") with a lithe build (95 lbs.).

She tends to wear a simple pair of blue jeans and a tee shirt in her normal identity, while out on patrol she wears blue-black ninja garb with hidden pockets for her gear and a sash belt.

 Here is an alternate version of Powerhammer, with an expanded history to go with it.

 His skills and feats are pretty advanced for a kid his age, showing his techo-savvy and skill at building things. He tends to have several unfinished projects just laying around, ready to be completed as needed. (Using a Hero Point to build an invention in a few rounds.)

 When making inventions for him, think about ones which can enhance his nullify power's effects or give him more combat options. Confusion rays, universal remotes to control machines, light-based flash bombs, holographic projectors, devices which give him some alternate powers for his existing powers, etc. are some good examples.

 He has athletic abilities as shown with his Dexterity and Constitution scores as well as his Acrobatics and Swim skills and Endurance feats. Not enough to make a major difference, but enough to help out when needed.

arrow: Although he has almost no combat options, he is very accurate with the attacks he can do and good at defending himself. He is tough with his powers and even opponents he can't harm with his energy punch can still be affected by the nullify effect. He is new to working with others, so no team-based feats. This is a good area to expand him in though, along with combat feats as he learns how to fight better.

Description of Powers:Powerhammer has the ability to surround his fists and body with cosmic energy. Hitting a target with great power and force, his energy-charged fists can also temporarely shut down any powers the target may have by causing a strong feedback. His cosmic energy force field is strong enough to completely stop most conventional weapons and guns.

History
Not Easy Being a Genius
John Evans was a natural at many things, an intelligent student, a good athlete, and a great scholar of many subjects, with a knack for building things. A member of his school's track and field team, he excelled in long distance races and was somewhat of a celebrity in the area. But despite all of this he was picked on, a target of the less intelligent bullies of the school. He learned how to avoid being hit while only striking back at the bullies when he felt he had no other choice.

Word of this spread and the respect of the other students increased, there were few who didn't like John or knew he was an outstanding person. Peace maker for the school, he kept the rival groups from causing any trouble while on school grounds. John had been like this from a young age, intelligent, curious and outgoing, due to being left on his own a lot as his parents worked. Not home that much, his parents gave him everything he wanted and praised him a lot.

Independant due to this, he could run the household on his own by the age of 9. While most parents wouldn't like to leave their kid alone at such an age, John's parents knew he was responsible and trusted him. Although because of their housing arrangements he never had a pet, he was never alone while at home due to the pets allowed to wander the neighboorhood.

Fate, Annoyance or Big Pain
Then life took a turn for the worst possible several months ago, when on his way from home school a strange van started following him. Trying to ditch them, he dashed into some bushes and sprinted til he was out of breath. Thinking he was safe, a gas grenade landed by his feet and sprayed out a cloud of green gas. Feeling weak and trying to fight to stay conscious, the last thing John saw before passing out were two men in gas masks wearing lab coats.

Waking up hours later, he found himself trapped in a strange glass tank, surrounded by a weird blueish liquid. He heard someone talking about a new version of something called the DNAscent process and how he was but one of many guinea pigs to test it. It was designed to work faster and be more effective than the old method, with more testing they could perfect it.

For what seemed like several months, John was painfully injected, subjected to strange radiation and other battery of test. While he was recovering from their most recent testing, a sudden surge of energy from a power containment unit went throught his tank and painfully through John as well. Waking up once again, the scientist in charge was shocked by his survival and also how the energy seemed to have affected John. While he couldn't hear everything they were saying, something about powerful cosmic energy and enhanced endurance.

Within in a few short hours John learned what the scientist were talking about. Somehow he could generate cosmic energy, channeling it into his fist or to surround his body for protection. Powering up his fist, he shattered the glass tank he was in and quickyly subdued the guards and scientists in the room. Catching his breath, he didn't have long before an alarm went off in the building. Taking a chance, he smashed a hole through the nearest wall and found it to lead outside, where he ran for it not caring his destination at that point as long as he was free of the monsters who had kidnapped and changed him.

On the Run and In Trouble
Finally after what seemed like hours, he stopped to catch his breath on the side of the road and think of his next course of action. Suddenly a van like the one which the men had come in showed up in the distance, panicing John ran for it once again til he arrived at a small town. Sticking to the alleys and backroads, he kept himself mostly hidden as he was on the run from the men who abducted him last time. Swiping food to survive, he only took what was needed and slept as little as he could get by on.

Finally almost back to Freedom City and his parents, the toll of his travels had caught up to him as he collapsed to the ground exhausted. But Fate seemed to be on his side, as the Freedom League member Johnny Rocket was on patrol nearby and spotted him lying in the road. As Johnny went to pick up John, he regained a little conscious and thought it was the abductors again as he tried to power up his fists. Seeing this, Johnny rushed him to Freedom Medical Center for treatment, not only saving his life but probably saving him from being brainwashed and forced to work for the men who had done all of this to him.

Waking up, John found out that Johnny had brought him to a hospital and also came back with Captain Thunder. As they questioned him about his condition and how he had gained his powers, things started to be pieced together. John only knew he was abducted to be a test subject for something to give people powers, he didn't know anymore about who had abducted him or why beyond that. He only had superficial damage, meaning he could be released from the hospital in a few days after he regain his strength. Wishing to go home, more bad news was to follow as Captain Thunder explained to John that his parents had been found murdered in their home a few days ago, most likely killed by the men who were looking for John to cover their tracks.

No Family, No Choice
An orphan now with no extended family able to be contacted, Captain Thunder and Johnny Rocket invited him to become a student at the Claremont Academy. They explain to him about this unique school, how he would be taught things like in a normal school but also how to control and use his powers. They also promised him to keep a link open through the school with the Freedom League so they could contact him if any more information on those who had ruined his life was discovered.

Having little choice and no other place to go, John agreed and also thought how being at such a school could keep him hidden from those trying to find him. Just 3 days later he was released from the hospital with a clean bill of health, taken to his new home at the Claremont Academy feeling a little uneasy at the thought of going to a strange new place. On arrival he was greeted by a senior student named Lemar Phillips who showed him around the facilities. Moving into his dorm room, he found it to not be so bad and had plenty of things to keep him occupied as he adjusted to his new stituation.

A knock came on his door and another student peaked her head in to welcome him to the academy. Serena Vervain was glad he was settling in and said she would talk to him some more later, as she had to head off for a class. Leaving an awestruck John behind, he was starting to think despite all of the tragedies and weirdness in his life recently things were looking up.

Description:An attractive causcasion teenage boy, in his mid-teens with an athletic and toned build. He is of average height for his age (5'7") and above average weight due to his muscle tone (150 lbs.). He keeps his deep black hair in a short cut and has light blue eyes. Due to his time on the run and living on the streets and in the wild, he has a good tan.

He normally wears a pair of blue jeans with rips in the keeps, a dark blue tee-shirt and blue tennis shoes. When training or in the field he wears a dark blue domino mask with his normal clothes, not caring to wear a true costume.

Notes
 A revamped version of Burnfist, with an expanded history and many skills, feats and stats changed some. Hope you like it.

 Due to his training under sifu Won he has learned many things beyond just the combat skills of Kung Fu. As part of his training he was required to learn how to repair the dojo, study the history of kung fu and learn philosophy. He was put through survival training in the forest and mountains neary the dojo, which also increased his fortitude and physical durability. Also sifu Won had one rule for training under him, you must first learn how to heal before you learn how to hurt, teaching David the art of accupressure and of herbal medicines.

 He still has some streetsmarts and knows how to survive in urban environments on his own. Although trained to avoid being hit and to block attacks, he has toughened himself up so he can take a solid hit without being hurt too badly. He also has learned how to channel his chi energy through his body, standing fast against attacks that should knock him down. He has a +4 bonus against all attempts to push, rush, trip or throw him.

 He heals from Disabled status in only 5 hours, along with being able to stabilize when brought to a dying state. His training in Kung Fu has taught him how to call upon inner reserves of strength to survive and recover.

 His fighting style is a mixture of Kung Fu and some streetfighting he learned. He has learned how to react quickly to gain the upperhand in a fight and fight more than one opponent at a time when needed. His training in Kung Fu has taught him to be patient and gauge his oppoents before striking, prefering to use the Defensive Attack feat til he knows what his opponents are capable of. If an innocent is in danger though he will risk his life to protect them, getting in the way of an attack or threat using his Interpose feat.

He won't use his microwave energy punch unless facing a superpowered enemy or if he is outnumbered at least 10-1. Also he will only use his throwing disc to stop someone from attacking an innocent if he can't reach them in time, or if someone is using ranged attacks on him first.

Description of Powers:Burnfist can surround his fists in strange blue flames which are compossed of microwave heat energy, capable of hurting even some of the most invulnerable of targets.

History:
Recklessness Leads to Discipline
David was a troubled kid, reckless and always getting into trouble just for the thrill of it. He would even pick fights with the local bullies, normally coming home several bruises and cuts each day. While normally this wasn't that bad and his parents chalked it up to normal boyish play, it soon got him in trouble at school and suspended. Worried for their only son's safety and wondering why he was so reckless, they turned to an old family friend.

A Kung Fu master, Sifu Won began training David in Kung Fu to help discipline him and teach him self-control. At first David was a difficult student, not taking to his studies and slacking off. But once he began to notice the effects it could have he took his training seriously and loved the control he felt while practicing katas. After almost a year he was one of the most advanced students of the dojo, being only out matched by 3 students and the sifu himself.

Wandering Hero
After graduating from high school, he decided to put his training to good use and seek out those in need. Bidding his parents, friends and Sifu Won goodbye, David set out on a quest for a true purpose and drifted around New York for a few years. In that time he became known as skilled fighter and many muggers and gang members were forced to leave the area or get locked up.

Despite his efforts, the police still considered him a vigilante and kept trying to arrest him. As they got closer and closer to capturing him, he decided to move on and find another city in need. Packing what little belongings he had into a dufflebag and setting out with only the clothes on his back, David bid farewell for now to his home city of New York and left for places unknown. While during his travels he kept hearing stories of Freedom City and all of the superheroes who operated out of there.

Fire and Fate, Strange Mix
Upon arriving late one night in Freedom City, trouble seemed to find David as fate interveined. North of his location was strange colored smoke rising into the sky, while the sound of fire truck sirens were blaring in the area. Rushing to see what was going on, he found a large building blazing and the firefighters having a hard time getting inside to rescue those still trapped. Rushing into the blaze despite warnings from the firefighters to stand back, he broke open a window and help several scientists escape the blazing inferno.

Taking a fire extinguisher, he tried to get some of the smaller fires under control and make a path out, only to have nearby burning chemicals explode and cover his hands. Not seeing anyone else in need and the fire burning out of control, David leapt out through the broken window and landed on the grass outside as his hands were still on fire. Firefighters stopped him almost immediately, rushing over with a fireproof blanket to smother the flames still burning on his hands.

As paramedics checked out his hands, they were surprised to find he only had minor burns and treated them. He was released without any trouble, although one of the doctors still wished to study him and figure out why he didn't have more severe burns. Several days later when he finally took off the bandages on his hands, David was shocked to find his hands glowing with a strange blue fire and heat. With practice he found he could envelop his fists with an intense form of microwave energy which is capable of burning through solid steel and even combine it with his martial arts skills for a devestating attack. In a city known for its superpowered heroes he thought they wouldn't mind another one joining in to help. Taking the codename Burnfist, he was ready to help those in need and stop those who would exploit such special gifts.

Description:An attractive young man who appears to be in his mid-20s. Has a trimmed haircut of short blond hair and deep blue eyes. Due to his travels and training he has a deep tan to his Caucasian skin and a strong athletic build. Shorter than average for a man his age (5'7"), he has a developed muscle tone which still allows him to intimidate those bigger than him (150 lbs.)

His normal, everyday clothes are a pair of dark blue jeans, a durable pair of black tennis shoes, a light blue tee-shirt with some rips in it, a tough black leather jacket, brown leather gloves and a pair of black shades to conceal his identity somewhat. He sometimes wears a black domino mask when out on patrol.

Notes
 Here is Version 2.0 of Techno-Girl, with an expanded and somewhat altered history and changed stats. She is a natural genius and has some skills in technology and most areas of science. Without her mutant technopath ability she wouldn't be anywhere near the likes of Daedalus and Doc Otaku. Skill ranks and bonuses for skills to which Enhanced Skills applies show the enhanced levels first and powerless levels second.

 Due to the Adroit feat from her Enhanced Skills power, her total skill ranks (normal and enhanced combined) with those skills can go 1 higher than the normal PL limit. Without her mutant technopath ability she can't invent things at all and her skills drop significantly.

 Her Super-Senses means she only takes a -1 penalty on Notice checks for vision-based checks per 1000 feet. She can also see things at the cellular level.

 Although shy by nature with almost no social skills, she is attractive and can use this to her benefit if she decides to use it.

 Her personalized armored jumpsuit is tougher than most armors, shields her from radiation and has an advanced visor connected to it. This visor shields her eyes and has an anaylizer system which can figure out a foe's strengths and weaknesses (Assessment feat).

Description of Powers:Techno-Girl is a mutant tech genius and inventor. Due to an inborn understanding of technological and scientific areas, she can modify existing objects in ways current scientists could only dream of. She can build practically anything she can imagine, repair even the most advanced devices and bypass even the most advanced traps and locks. She can also mentally interface with any computer within 100 feet of her.

Her mind works 25x faster than most humans, allowing her to calculate and design things in her head without the aid of artificial help. This allows her to design any device she can think up quickly when they are needed.

Her vision is enhanced to a great degree, allowing her to see things at the cellular level and objects miles away clearly. It is possible she developed this power to aid her when working with small pieces commonly used in technological devices.

History:
A Natural Talent Taken to the Extreme
Young Donna was always curious and taking things apart, trying to figure out how they worked. She showed a knack for working with all forms of technology and scientific areas, even at the age of 5. Over the years she was able to fix broken items around her home and was a tomboy for the most part. Her parents encouraged her interests, although her mother was worried about her little girl growing up without social interaction.

Keeping mostly to herself, it was years later and Donna hadn't changed much, still prefering to work with machines and gadgets then hang out with people. By her 12th birthday she started to show an even greater ability with technology and science, increasing in ability at an incredible rate despite not studying or training more. At the same time her eyesight began to improve at an incredible rate, allowing her to see things she only imagined of before.

She began using her increased abilities to modify and improve gadgets and items around her parents' home. Soon it was one of the most advanced homes known, with repair bills being unknown as she took care of all repairs herself and even built a power generator to cut down on the electricity bill. But all of this began to draw attention to their home and in particular to Donna.

Kill All the Lawyers
Her luck was running out and only a few months later things took a turn for the worst. Some strange men in black suits saying they worked for the government showed up, saying they wished to have Donna work for them. Her parents buy the story and sent the men on their way, receiving a warning they would regret this. Two days later a large black van followed her parents as they were going out, getting them to an isolated road and opened fire. The gas tank was hit and the care exploded from the fire, leaving no time for Donna's parents to escape.

No evidence other than that it was a terrible accident caused by a gas leak was found, all proof otherwise covered up. Donna was heartbroken, as she was told by child services what had happened to her parents. As she was taken into custody, the strange men in black showed up, stating they represented a corporation which wished to become her legal guardians. Child services said they would have to go through all of the legal work just like anyone else would, making them leave frustrated once again.

No will was found stating what would happen to their property upon their death, so the greedy lawyers found a way to take everything and have it go to the state. Placed in an orphanage til they would find her a good home, Donna became frustrated by her inability to use her abilities while there. All of her living relatives lived overseas and were unable to be contacted, leaving Donna on her own completely. The men in black showed up once again one night, trying to abduct her but she gave them the slip.

Living on Her Own in Style
Taking to living on the streets, she was able to earn a living by fixing things and working part-time at a pawn shop. But the men in black were looking for her, so she had to keep moving on. Finally her travels brought her to Freedom City, where she wouldn't be as easily noticed with all of the other superhumans around. When she spotted the police patrol driving along, she began to have second thoughts and was going to move on once again. But Fate stepped in to change her destiny.

A local gang noticed her and began to follow her, as she began to pick up her pace they started to run, giving chase. Darting around and going in and out of alleys, she was finally able to ditch them when she ended up in an abandoned warehouse in the Southside. Looking around, she found it to have been an old factory at one point with old machines and gears lying around. Better than any other place she had found before, she decided to fix this place up and settle down finally.

Using what components she could find, she went to work fixing up the place to be livable and have a workshop. After only a short week, she had completely fixed all of the wiring in the building and was able to use stuff she found at the junkyard to make her own workshop. She even found several old generators which she fixed up and improved, having her own private power supply so the city officials wouldn't take notice of her new home. Now she just had to figure out what she wished to do.

Lashing Out, Fate Steps In Once Again
Checking things out online, Donna figured out what the officials had done to her after her parents' deaths. Ticked off and tired of being on the run, she set to work building her own high-tech jumpsuit to fight crime in. Using her inventions, she adopted the codename Techno-Girl and decided to teach corrupt officials a lesson, especially lawyers. Checking details of local businesses and government places online, she found details on Cabot, Cunningham & Crowley and how they would defend criminals ruthlessly. The perfect target to take her anger out on for all she had been through.

As she cracked the lock and was breaking into their main office, Fate once again stepped in in the form of Bowman. As he took aim with an arrow to capture her, Donna noticed him out of the side of her eye at the last moment as she avoided the arrow. Shocked at her avoiding his arrow, Bowman took aim and fired another snare arrow at her and bound her arms to her side. But at the last moment she had tossed a powerful stun gas grenade she brought just in case.

Caught off-guard by the attack, Bowman was knocked outcold by the powerful gas and it seemed Donna would get away. But it seemed that Fate just wouldn't let this happen as it (she) had different plans for the young girl. As she got free of the snare arrow, a shadow decended from the sky above her and grabbed her by the wrist as Captain Thunder landed on the ground beside her. Struggling against his hold, it proved useless as he was too strong. She had been caught and who knows what would happen next.

Picking up the still unconscious Bowman, Captain Thunder lifted up Donna and took to the air. As they landed at the top of the Freedom Hall, Donna was a little confused why she hadn't been taken to the police instead. Questioning her as to what she was up to at the law firm and how she came to have such devices, Donna kept quiet and wouldn't ask any of the questioned asked of her. When The Raven walked in though, something about this woman reminded her of her mother and she perked up.

Noting the young girl's interest in The Raven, she was taken into another room to talk privately with her. As Donna opened up, she told her story of what happened to her parents, how she had a natural ability to build things and how she came to be there, along with her hatred of corrupt officials and lawyers especially. She left out the part about her warehouse home and all of the stuff she had there still.

A New Place To Stay, A Family
As Bowman headed back in and heard the story of what happened to Donna, he could understand her anger at lawyers and especially ones like those at C,C & C. Everyone decided it would be a bad idea to send her to juvie, as they would only end up making her worse instead of giving her the help she needs. Daedelus in particular was impressed by this young girl, as he analyzed some residue of the stun gas and found it to be highly advanced.

As he questioned her about how she could make something so advanced, Donna simply stated she had always loved science and over the past few months found she had a natural ability to create and build things. Figuring out she was a mutant and a natural supergenius, everyone in the League agreed it would be best to set her up at the Claremont Academy so she can get the training she needs. Hearing this, at first Donna thought about running until The Raven explained to her it was a great place with other kids like her.

As she showed up outside the main building, Donna couldn't believe how big this place was and was a little nervous as she walked in with The Raven by her side. Resgistering her and then showing her around the grounds, The Raven noted how shy Donna was and how she would need help coming out of her shell. Finally ending up at her dorm room, she went about unpacking what few belonging she had brought with her and decided to get some rest as it had been a long day. Maybe now she had found a safe place from those men in black who were following her.

Slipping under the covers of her new bed, she didn't notice as an unmasked Callie Summers peaked in to check on the young girl and smiled. She reminded her a little of herself at that age, plus what Donna had been through was rough so it was good she could rest so peacefully. This was the start of a new life for young Donna and Callie was determined to help her make the best of it. Only Fate knows what is in store for her and how her creations will help to change the world....

Description:A cute young Asian girl, she in her early teens (13 years old). She has blue-black hair down to the middle of her back and unusual blue-green eyes. She has a slightly yellowish tint to her skin and slant to her eyes (Japanese traits from her parents), along with a lithe build and good muscle tone for her age (105 lbs.).

She tends to wear blue overalls with some oil stains on them, a red tee-shirt underneath the overalls and a pair of tough, insulated black boots. When training or out on patrol she wears a high-tech armored jumpsuit of her own design, colored red and black with a yellow belt and tinted visor.

I'm glad your feelin' better Psistrike. :D I see your really doin' a wonderful job darlin'.

Notes
 Here is Version 2.0 of Psi-Blade, greatly expanded background and adjusted stats. She is an unusual character with some natural mystical powers and trained magical abilities. Most of her spells are defensive, support or utility though, keep this in mind when having her face foes.

 An artist, she loves to draw and paint. She can use these same skills to craft magical charms and items. She has learned first aid and how to use herbs for healing.

 Her Regeneration is related to her Soul Blade power, it is powerful but not quite the level of someone like Wolverine. She makes checks to recover with a +7 bonus. Recovery rate is: Bruised status once per round without rest, Injured status once per minute, Staggered once per 5 minutes, and Disabled once per hour. She heals ability damage at a rate of 1 per minute.

 While she has a lot of raw power, she doesn't have much experience or practical training in it yet. Thus her caps not being reached for most of her abilities and low Attack Bonus for her PL. This is to show she has a lot of area to improve in still and needs a lot of training because of her young age. Her only cap reached is Damage with her Soul Blade due to trade-offs.

 Mostly self-trained in the magical arts so far, she has learned from bits and pieces in books she has bought over the years. She doesn't have much power with them yet, but has an unusual assortment of spells at her disposal. In a fight she is more of a support character, using her weakening spell (Drain Toughness) to lessen a foe's defenses so her teammates have an easier time taking them on. Or using restorative spells to help out weakened teammates.

 When on the offensive in a fight she tends to first weaken a foe's defenses, then hits them hard with her energy sword. She prefers to bind powerful opponents and let her teammates take them on, striking while they are flat-footed. Also don't overlook her Animate Objects or Telekinesis spells for both offense and defense in a fight. Bringing something like a lamppost or tree to life or holding a speedster in the air.

 She tends to target magical foes first in a fight, using her ability to detect them and target their magical gear if they have any. She also uses the new options for Sleight of Hand from the Mastermind's Manual. She can use it to feint in combat as a standard action with Notice as the opposing skill.

 Her Soul Blade is drawn from inside her, a mystical blade from an unknown heritage.

Description of Powers:Psi-Blade is a powerful sorceress with natural mystical powers. She can draw upon the power of her own soul to create a blade of mystic energy called the Soul Blade. This powerful mystical weapon can harm even the most impervious of targets and strike even at spirits and incorporeal beings. Her body draws upon this same energy to heal her from the most severe of wounds and makes it hard for her to get sick or be poisoned.

She has self-taught magical talents in varied areas, mostly defensive and support spells. She can craft small charms and minor magical items when she needs to. In a fight her spells can be used to aid her allies or harm her foes. From magical binds and blasts, to restoring others weakened abilities and moving heavy objects, she can do almost anything if given time.

History:
A Little Girl, An Unseen Destiny Approaching
Carla was a lucky young girl, born to a family of wealth and high class. Living in the Riverside district of Freedom City in a brownstone with her parents, they wasn't much she wanted for. Going to school, she was mostly sheltered from the truth of what happened in the city, such as the tales of creatures at Lake MacKenzie and other such things. She was curious though, finding ways to learn about things which her parents tried to keep her from knowing.

One day when she was 6 years old, her father took her on a trip with him to The Never-Ending Story, to find a book which Carla could read. The curious young girl looked around the shop, finding many curious books but none which interested her. Til she stumbled upon a book with a fantastic cover on it, a story of a young girl with magical powers. This was the beginning of young Carla's interest in the arcane and supernatural. Her parents thought this was just a phase she was going through, humoring her for the time being.

But that first book was the start of something big, as it was more than it appeared to be. Hidden within the text of the simple story were spells, magic like the young girl in the story could use. This was hidden so well that Andrew Orlando, the owner of The Never-Ending Story, overlooked them. As Carla read the story, she began to learn and practice simple cantrips and spells on her own. Isolating herself in her room to study and practice her new-found magic abilities, her parents didn't know what was up with Carla and began to worry about her.

Destiny Comes Calling
Over several years Carla became more skill and learned more and more spells from the books she bought at The Never-Ending Story. Each book appeared to be a simple children's book and the spells within them overlooked by all except the curious young girl. She learned how to craft simple charms and perform rituals, showing a natural talent for things of the arcane. Carla could sense a magical aura around each of the books, no matter how minor it was.

Unfortunately this drew the attention of a powerful dark entity, for reasons unknown didn't like that Carla was learning magic. It watched and waited for the right time to strike, wanting to take out the young sorceress before she could learn how to tap into her true power. On the day of her 14th birthday, her father took her to The Never-Ending Story so she could pick the book she wanted as a gift. But as they entered the store, a creature made of living energy ambushed Carla as it lashed out at the young girl.

Seeing his daughter in danger, her father reacted on instinct and leapt between Carla and this bizzare creature. Unfortunately this would be his undoing, as the creatures energy talons ripped through his chest violently and killed him almost instantly. Seeing her father lying dead in front of her and in shock, Carla turned to the creature with a look of pure rage upon her face. Crying out with a scream of primal energy, a blade of glowing blue energy materialized in Carla's hand.

The Strike Which Sealed Her Fate
The creature began to back away in fear, knowing what the blade was even if Carla didn't. Seeing the look of fear on the creature, she lunged at him with the blade thrust forward and punged it deep into the creature's chest. As it let out an unearthly cry, the creature swung at Carla lashing her in chest and knocking her into one of the bookshelves which fell on top of her. As the creature faded out, it spoke a fateful statement. "More will come for you, young mystic."

Mr. Orlando was shocked by all he had seen, calling paramedics and trying to lift the bookshelf off of Carla but to no avail. True to its words, more creatures began to appear in the area and searched for Carla as they couldn't sense her. Several of the city's local heroes showed up to deal with the creatures, dispatching them before the paramedics arrived. Damage caused by the creatures slowed them down as they tried to get to The Never-Ending Story, Carla remained under the bookshelf for almost an hour before they got through to rescue you.

Checking out the young girl, the paramedics only found dried blood on Carla and her clothes with no signs of the wounds she had received. She was taken to the hospital incase of internal injuries of a concussion, contacting her mother while they examined Carla. The new of her husband's death was a shock for Mrs. Harmon, the only thing which kept her sane at the point was finding her only daughter unharmed. Taking her home, her mother was shocked when Carla told the whole tale, of how she had been learning magic, how the creature had attacked her but her father saved her at the cost of his own life, and of how she struck the creature down with a strange blade of energy she created but was struck by the creature still.

A Safe Place to Learn, A Sanctuary
It was almost too much for Mrs. Harmon to take in, but she knew the history of her family. Contacting an old family friend, Adrian Eldrich showed up a few minutes later at their front door to talk to Carla. Sitting down with Carla and her mother, Adrian began to explain what was going on. How some powerful entity had sensed the power Carla had inside her and wished to kill her before she became more powerful. He asked how she had come to learn magic in the first place and Carla explained about the books from The Never-Ending Story.

Thinking he would need to have a talk to Andrew Orlando about being more through when checking his books, especially children's books, for hidden magical texts from now on. Not wishing to take on young Carla as an apprentice at this time, he contacted Duncan Summers about having a new student at his academy. In a short while Duncan Summers showed up, with a young girl a little older than Carla with him. Serena Vervain was introduced and acted as a representative of the academy which Duncan Summers ran.

As they explained to Carla and her mother about the Claremont Academy and what it was about, Carla started to have a gleam in her eyes as she was told they could help her learn to use her powers and hone her magic. Still in shock over all of this and her husband's death, Mrs. Harmon didn't wish for her only child to leave. But Adrian assured her it was for the best, as living at home she would draw more attacks from the creatures and needed to learn how to defend herself.

Hearing this and thinking of losing her only child, she finally relented and agreed to let Carla go to the Claremont Academy. Within two days, she was all packed and taken to the school where Serena greeted her at the front gates. Giving the young girl a tour of the school grounds, Serena found she and Carla had much in common including their love of magic. Finally shown to her dorm room, she was glad to have a safe place to stay and learn. But the shock of all that had happened in the last few days finally caught up to her, as she collasped onto her bed and dozed off quickly, while wondering what the future held in store for her.

Description:A cute young girl who looks to be in her early teens (14 years old). She is slightly pale due to staying in her room so much but has a healthy build for a girl her age (100 lbs.). She keeps her vibrant red hair shoulder length, having a pair of strange blue eyes. She has an unusual mark on the palm of her right hand, a blue infinity symbol which glows when she uses her Soul Blade.

Her normal outfit is a blue blouse, a pair of knee-length shorts and a pair of red tennis shoes. She sometimes wear a pair of 1" platforms and has some magical charms she sometimes wears.

Notes
 Here is Version 2.0 of Mindstrike, altered and expanded history and changed stats. He is somewhat less versatile with his telekinetic array than before, but has greatly expanded combat options.

 His history is neutral so he can be dropped into any setting. If he is used in a Freedom City campaign, some minor changes to her history need to be made. The company his parents worked for could be one of the lesser known scientific companies run by Constantine Urallos, Johnathan Grant or Hieronymos King. He most likely wouldn't have lived on the streets for more than a few days before someone from the Claremont Academy or one of their friends found him. Thus replace his ranks in Gather Information and Survival with other skills that are more appropriate.

 His combat skills are a mesh of the Aikido training he received along with some natural talent. He will work to pin or throw his opponent at the first opportunity, prefering to keep them unable to fight rather than hurt them. Against robots and other constructs he is a monster, able to reach his damage cap without needing more than 8 ranks in telekinesis. This leaves him plenty of room for other things, such as his telekinetic force field.

 His physical abilities are both from his Aikido training and from isometric exercises using his telekinesis. Interesting roleplaying detail for him, as he tends to do strength and flexibility training using this technique.

 While most of the threat he poses comes from his Dynamic Telekinesis Array, he can be a threat in unarmed combat without them still. He can fight defensively, keeping himself from being hit while taking out opponents with grapples, grabs and throws. If he does combine this style with telekinetically gained super strength, he can take down even some of the most powerful foes with ease.

 He has a great strength of will which makes him hard to take on by those who use intimidation in a fight. He has limited skills in social situations beyond some diplomacy, relying on his willpower to resist any interaction skills.

 With a Hero Point to spend, Mark's telekinesis become a true force to fear for even the most powerful of beings. He can duplicate many other powers using the Power Stunt option: Disintegration by disassembling a target molecule by molecule, Transmutation by altering something/someone at the molecular level, etc, are just some examples of what he can do.

 Here are some normal set-ups for his Dynamic Telekinesis Array:
:!: Telekinesis 10 [Damaging; Accurate, Dynamic, Precise, Split Attack 2], Flight 2, Force Field 8 [Impervious]-Normal default mode
:!:Super Strength 12, Strike 10, Force Field 10 [Impervious]- Powerhouse Tank mode
:!: Deflect 8 [Action-Free, Ranged], Flight 3- Defender mode
:!: Flight 5, Force Field 10 [Impervious], Strike 8, Super Strength 8-Human ballistic missile mode

Description of Powers:Mindstrike is an extremely powerful telekinetic. He can do virtually anything with this power, from creating powerful force fields able to take tank fire, projecting telekinetic "punches" or crushing using his telekinetic power, flying at extreme speeds, replicating superhuman strength by channeling it through his body, deflect any attack, etc. With the use of Extra Effort he can be a true beast, capable of taking an opponent apart atom by atom or even altering their very form and physical being.

A side-effect when using this power is that he generates a glowing blue uniform around himself and his eyes glow with the same energy. This makes stealth impossible from visual senses while using his powers, but also makes it difficult to identify him.

History:
Confidence Takes Effort
Mark wasn't your typical kid, being the son of two scientists and having to take care of himself a lot. While he wanted for nothing, due to his parents working for one of the most prestigious companies in the world, he still had problems at school due to being smart and a little on the small side for his age. He was bullied and beat up a few couple of times, coming home with a black eye or several bruises before his parents decided to act.

Enrolling him in a Aikido class at the local youth center, hoping it would help him learn to defend himself as well as build some confidence in the shy young boy. Taking to the training with a fervor, Mark showed a talent for the technique of "flowing" with a attack and using his attacker's own mommentum against them. His skills grew with time as did his confidence, the bullies soon learned he knew how to defend himself and left him alone.

The training had another benefit, as young Mark developed his physical abilities and especially his dexterity, flexibility and reflexes. He showed a natural ability to read his opponents and assess their skills, figuring out when he is outmatched by an opponent. His parents were even able to put their skills to helping out Mark with his training, designing robots made to test out an opponent's combat skills. As he trained with them, Mark learned how to detect the weak points on any construct and predict their actions.

Sometimes The Cliche Evil Company Works
Despite the training increasing his muscle mass and tone he was still a target for bullies who didn't know any better. While this was a bother to Mark, it would soon come to be nothing more than a bad memory as it became the least of his problems. While working on a new project his parents discovered the company was researching into areas which the government had banned. They had planned to inform the authorities with this information, but were found out due to hidden cameras in the labs.

One day they were told the company president wished to see them, heading in they knew nothing of what was in store. As they sat down the C.P. went on to talk about all their years of work there, along with all of the great creations they had brought them. Suddenly several goons were holding both of them down in their chairs as the C.P. went on to explain how he knew of what they discovered and were going to tell the authorities. He chided them about this, saying it was foolish to oppose his plans. Now it was too late for them, with a snap of his finger two more goons stood beside Mark's parents and shot them both in the head.

But one thing he hadn't counted on was Mark looking for his parents, he had come there after hearing his parents were talking with the company president. As he looked through a crack in the door and listened in Mark started to worry, the shock of the suddenly gunfire and his parents being killed before his own eyes brought something out in him. Suddenly an unseen force ripped off the double doors to the office and sent them flying at the company president.

Unable to avoid the sudden attack, the C.P. was hit hard and had several broken ribs, a fractured leg and a severe concusion which knocked him outcold. As the goons looked around for the source of such an attack, they spotted a small form covered in a glowing red uniform with glowing red eyes. They didn't recognize Mark and he used this to his advantage, as he instinctively reached out with this force and slamed all six of them into a wall. Still afraid of what could happen if he was recognized, Mark was on the run and bolted from the place which had been like a second home for all his life.

Forced Survival Training
Now homeless and an orphan, Mark had nowhere to go as the home he grew up in was owned by the company. Living on the streets, he moved from area to area in the large city and had to learn how to survive on his own. He found parks to be the safest place for him now, as he didn't want the police to spot him. Training in his free time and learning how to control his newfound telekinetic powers, he found he could do a lot of things with it and even used them to train his physical abilities.

As his skills grew and he honed his martial abilities and telekinetic powers to new levels, Mark used his anger and hatred of the company which had killed his parents to fuel him. Taking on the codename of Mindstrike, he planned to completely destroy the company and its corrupt president which had stolen so much from him. His plans may have taken a few years, but now they would come true as he lashed out.

Description:Mark is an athletic young man, appearing to be in his early to mid-teens. (14 years old). He is a little short for his age (5'5") with a slightly slender, yet muscular build (130 lbs.). He has short black hair and intense green eyes, along with a slight tan.

He tends to wear a simple pair of blue jeans, a tee-shirt and tennis shoes. He needs no uniform due to the side-effect when using his telekinesis, but he tends to wear a simple blue domino mask when out in the field.
