:arrow: to be honest, I was aiming directly for making venture a PL5 character at most, but after careful viewing and treated instances where Doc clearly knows what he's doing/talking about (when he sets his mind to something, that is), and can indeed invent some pretty neat stuff, he actually comes out as relatively competant (mostly due to a surplus of hero points built up via complications)

:arrow: also adding to the design is that while doc's meant to be a pale shadow of his father, he was a fairly able boy adventurer (indeed, a fair chunk of the build's skeleton derived from the golden age 'costumed sidekick' template).

:arrow: for Rusty's law, that's basicly a 'get out of jail free' card when captured by bad guys, providing that somebody in venture's party has a legit medical problem (and possibly a few other related laws doc has memorized to save his bacon in such emergencies)

Shouldn't he at least have the complication wherein he goes up in a nuclear fireball when his (admittedly VERY durable) suit is compromised?

dunno, I'd kinda rule that as situational as to what can cause a breach like that (Gaming terms, it could have been that CA's player had to leave early that night, thus written out of the adventure in a way to keep the plot jumping)

:arrow: What's that you say? you want to give your PCs an unusual threat? one they can't just punch into the ground? Well, gearhead solves this problem. In the comics, he was just another maniacal cyborg, but "The Batman" took him into the shop, retooled him, and brought him out as a young turk with the power to turn any old clunker into the leanest, meanest racing machine he can imagine, allowing him to race circles around just about anybody and pull off drive-by hijackings with his machine control. yeah, he can't fight worth beans, but the fun part's just catching him.

:arrow: so, your PC's have a totally sweet ride that's gathering dust just getting them from scene to scene? bring in gearhead, break out the chase rules from MaMa, and then do your damndest to give the climax of "the italian job" that superheroic punch

:arrow: Contrary to popular beleif, gods are not immutable, changing to meet the needs of worship or dying out as a result. Such was the fate of Ares, the infamous God of War, a brutal, sadistic butcher by the greeks, but grew and thrived as a matchless warrior and general under the romans who called him Mars. in this process he cast off his old self like dogs shed fur, and never looked back. but some spark of ares lingered in that cast off self, festering, growing, until it became as powerful a demon as it had been a god. Taking the name Mamers, another name of Mars,it ravaged across the lands until it was banished to the fires below by champions of the gods.

in the stygian wastes, Mamers was trapped, until it was again awoken, this time far from rome and across seas of water and time. Mamers cared not for who called him, only that with all his enemies now dead, there is nothing to stop him from claiming dominion over the world. except for these new champions. he's REALLY starting to hate them

:arrow: Mamers is a brutal, power-hungry thug, so drunk on his arrogance that he hasn't formented any other plans than to commit extortion (IE: people worship him with sacrifice, or he destroys the city), and can't even spell subtlety (in fact, mamers is illiterate)

:arrow: mamers is created for the ATT group setting project, headed by fisdanellus, and is meant to be a potential 'big bad'

oh yeah

old BTAS is great for golden age/noir/agent campaigns

The Batman, however, is flat out 4 color with goons that can be dropped into just about any setting as is, and DAVE was a pretty fun bad guy.

next up batwise?

A TB foe that blows his TAS counterpart away on momentum alone...

:arrow: one of batman's most lame villains (so lame that not even a BTAS appearance sold him), The Batman's version of Max goes for a more subtle insanity (after all, if you know you're god, you don't need to go around reminding everyone), while upping his threat from gangster in a toga to full out james bond supervillain. thus, in an Agents game, Maximillian Zeus would be like unto Doctor Doom with this approach
