Abilities 65 + Skills 28 (112 ranks) + Feats 27 + Powers 19 + Combat 44 + Saves 12 – Drawbacks 0 = 195While a lot of other superbly-conditioned humans are considered “peak human,” Captain America truly stands at the precipice between human and superhuman. Having a +7 bonus is a big difference from having a +4, yet those characters are still somehow lumped into the same category. Since Captain America is so much stronger than other martial artists, he can afford to use Accurate Attack to increase his attack bonus to world-class levels without losing out in the damage department.
Cap’s a master in all forms of combat and is the best in the world at using his trademark star-spangled shield. While the shield is built as a Device replicating the traits of a large composite shield (Deflect and Shield) and a harder-hitting boomerang (Thrown Strike), it also provides 4 ranks of Immovable to represent the impact-absorbing properties of its steel-vibranium alloy. Cap two ranks of Ricochet invested in its use.
All of that makes Cap capable of going toe to toe with stronger and faster superhumans, but what sets Cap apart are his leadership and teamwork abilities. He is a master tactician, and while he’s no Batman, he can still Master Plan effectively. Furthermore, Cap has maxed out Inspire, Leadership, two ranks of Teamwork and two more Hero Points than your average hero to turn the tide of any battle.
Update 2/15/07
Captain America was my first Marvel build, and it’s about time he got an update. I particularly like the revisions I made to his shield, especially adding in the Immovable power.
I can't believe how long ago it was since I've started making comic book builds. I've used Cap as one of my benchmarks for all the other builds, and this is the first time I've revisited what I thought was a pretty solid build.
