perhaps the smartest woman on the planet, Dr. Dee Dey, led her team back in time to prevent the earth's future destruction. After being swiftly and unanimously ridiculed when she forced a press conference (partly due to her impersonal attitude and arrogance, partly due to doctoring by the covert Nightwing agency), the newly dubbed "Doomsday" and her 'doom patrol' set out to avert the coming catastrophe. however, wether due to predestination or ridiculously bad luck, they wound up causing the disasters they'd come back to avert. they did manage to break the chain in time to avert total destruction, but we'll have to wait 20-someodd years to find out. In the mean time, though, the Doom Patrol continue to try and avert catastrophe, with their track record holding true to form (case in point, in the second wave of Tangent books, they accidently create the godlike monstrosity known as the Ultra-Humanite)

as the stats show, Dr. Doomsday here is in no way a frontline fighter, using the rest of her team as meat sheilds while she works to avert whatever calamity she remembers from her research (hence innate precog).
