Cazic-Thule, Lord of Fear, from the RPG Everquest (also from Champions: Return to Arms video game).

Note: Not his avatar that is fought in the beggining on the evil side of the game.

I don't do gods on regular basis - that was a one-time thing for Godfallen as a thank-you for his most incredibly helpful service of alphabetizing my index.

Sorry.

A new series premiering? Finally. The stage curtain goes up, and the lovely woman in the magician's outfit looks up as the music plays.

DVD Commentary:
Baron's so right, that picture is great.

Anyway. Zatanna here is set up so as to be a user-friendly character able to do pretty much anything but not necessarily requiring a Variable Power to do so. She has a wide base of dynamic powers, starting with her Move Objects - a traditional sort of power for illusionists, except that Zatanna does it without the wires. Oo.

Zatanna's a fantastic support character with some special little damage effects to make her more than just a pretty face and a great body - for example, all her damage and stun related effects [heretofore after referred to as "Control" effects] have Accurate 4, meaning she's able to devote up to 4 PP to become a very competent fighter.

She also has a number of skills, all of them related to her profession as an Illusionist.

Attributes: STR 16, DEX 18, CON 14, INT 14, WIS 14, CHA 12

Skills:
Acrobatics 8+4 = 12
Disable Device 8+2 = 10
Escape Artist 8+4 = 12

Initiative/Defense: +4/+13 [+6 Flat-Footed]
Saves: FORT +6, REF +8, WILL +7, TOUGH +2
Attack/Damage: +8/+3 [+5 Kunai]

DVD Commentary:
Ahhhh...finally, the mooks of Dragon Disciples are finished!

Betcha thought I'd forgotten about them. Well, you were wrong!

Shinryujutsu-nin, the ninja soldiers of the Shinryujutsu Disciple [whose name is unrevealed, oooo] are initiates in the Death Dragon Art. They don't have the mystic kung-fu the actual Disciples have, but they are trained to be a capable fighting force, aiding each other to prepare for big stab attacks against their foes. They're fragile, but they have high, high defense - it's tough even for PL 10s to hit these little buggers.

What they lack in mystic kung-fu jutsu, they sorta make up for in their equipment. Their Smoke Flashes are my personal favorite equipment setup of theirs - a short-range [but very nice] teleport, Smoke Flash Bombs allow them to BAMF around the battlefield, feinting by using it to disorient their foes and then reappearing from nowhere to attack!

Fun mooks. Pump them up fifty PP and bump 'em two PLs and they'd be nasty boyos.

Notes:
Jonatha Storm, the only air-capable member of the Mega-Scale Metatalent Response Team Fantastic Four. Hotheaded, Asuka-esque, and half-sister of Sioux Storm, Jonatha has a glass jaw for everything but Toughness saves. She's no slouch, though - she's a capable threat to any PL 10 character.

However, the Xenocultures the MSMRTFF fights generally aren't...PL 10.
So, Jonatha and her allies have that Power Pack. The Power Pack is a standard issue 36 points (4/rank) device that boosts all powers by 10 and adds Protection 5 (when you're in the middle of your uber Mega-Scale Metatalent Manifestation, you're a scary bugger).

Note that of course these are PL 10/PP 150 builds. When fighting Xenoculture Giants, up the PL to 20, but otherwise, leave them as they are. (Except Reed - he sucks, but he can inspire everybody)

Yes, the FF get cosmic powers when they're mega-scale. Duh.

I take it she's the Mangaverse version of Johnny Storm, huh?

That's a bit of a mouthful for the Mangaverse 4's team name. How do you remember what all the letters in the abbreviation stand for? :?

Faces of Justice, Chapter Five: Secrets.

Zatanna looked up, up, up, clenching her stage-wand tightly in her grip, so tight she could feel the wood's every grainy texture as she stared into the sky. The flames had spread - the soot was everywhere, blackening the clouds, and the red light of the perpetual twilight was layed over the sky like a blanket. Zatanna looked down, down, down, and saw the ground below, cracked and blaster and dry. A car rolled forward as flames burst forth from a crack behind it, and it slid down into another fissure, falling, falling, forever and ever...

She moved forward, now, and could see more than she'd ever wanted. A field of corpses - dead bodies, covered in maggots, because no vultures still lived to pick at them. Zatanna shuddered involuntarily.

A voice from behind her rang out even in the roar from the fire-spurts and tremors. "Begone."

Zatanna sat up, sending the covers falling to the ground as she swung her legs around and removed the sweat-soaked nightgown. She slipped on a comfortable robe and opened the door of her bedroom.

"Nightmares?"

She whirled. "Redurtni Eht Dloh!" She shouted, and the fallen covers sprang up, wrapping around the man in the trenchcoat, the man with that distinctive hat and pseudoderm mask. Zatanna covered her mouth. "Mih Esaeler!" She commanded, and the covers fell to the ground, forgotten.

"Thank you," The Question said as he worked his arm.

"What are you doing here? It's twelve at night." Zatanna crossed her arms, glaring at him.

"Well, see, that's the thing," The Question replied calmly, sitting down in a wooden chair at the edge of the room and picking up a picture of her father from the nightstand, "You missed a very big event."

"What event was that?" Zatanna closed her eyes, swallowing. Not the dream. Please not the dream.

"Superman, possessed by an alien entity, fought and defeated Captain Marvel, in the process destroying all of Fawcett City. He's moved on to the next town."

"...and why did you come to me? Eeffoc ekam," She flicked her hand at the kitchen, and the coffee maker, filter, and beans came to life, moving together to mix their mistress a cup.

"Superman was changing the entire fight. I think it has something to do with the Rorschach problem."

Zatanna crossed her arms again. The coffee soared into the room, pot pouring a mug, the mug settling into her hand. She took a long drink of it and sighed, sitting down on the bed.

"Why do you suspect that?" Zatanna asked after a moment.

"Coincidences. They're too big to be just coincidences." The Question tugged on his hat. "They have to be related somehow."

Zatanna took another sip of coffee. At least it wasn't related to the dream.

"It's possible," she conceded, "That Rorschach is being manipulated to perform some sort of murder-ritual to open Superman for possession. If that's the case, it may already be too late." She pursed her lips, frowning. "But the question is, what alien entity would need to manipulate Rorschach for this? And who stands to gain?"

"Wesley Dodds thinks the one behind it is General Zod," The Question answered, "To escape the Phantom Zone."

"That doesn't make sense." Zatanna put her coffee down on the nightstand. "How could Zod move Rorschach like that? And furthermore, who gave him the ritual to do so?"

"I was hoping you could find out for me," The Question admitted.

"It will take time," Zatanna said slowly, picking the coffee up and taking another sip. "I will contact you when I have something. In the meantime, you must delay Rorschach as long as possible - if they are connected, the ritual might be disrupted in some way."

The Question stood up and walked out, one hand in his pocket. Zatanna moved over to her divining globe, settling her hand down on it and closing her eyes.

"BEGONE."

Quite possibly Doctor Fate as well.

Let's hope Constantine doesn't show up. That would mean real trouble is one the way. . .
