7 new posted builds today between me and Joshua. Not bad...

I have Jack Hawksmoor done to finally complete my Authority set (I'm not doing jenny Quantum yet, or the the side characters, just the main 7) but I built him specifically for a story idea I have, so I am saving him until after I post a couple of story intros, which I am working on this weekend for sure. No more builds until I get them done, even if they suck... :)

Oooh I always loved Authority build and I decided to stat out some of their major villains such as King Regis, the Alien GOD (the moon sized creator of earth), the super powerful evil Doctor amoung other so expect them from me in the following days.

OK, as usual, change of plans. My dad collapsed and went in the hospital (he's OK, just overdid it and had a reaction to some medicine, but scared the crap out of us) so after spending all day in the ER, my creative juices are shot.

However, I am wired so I guess I'll post a couple more builds shortly as I watch Adult Swim...

Comments: I can’t believe it took me this long to work up one of my childhood favorites, The Black Panther. As a black kid growing up reading comics in the 70’s, he was about the best black hero either major company had, so I’ve always been drawn to him from an identification standpoint.

And overall, T’Challa is a bad dude. Kind of a Batman lite. He can do stealth, combat, planning, leadership, you name it. And even at 210pp, I kind of felt I might have shortchanged him on a few things. He’s da man.

Clean Up 12/20/07: Tightened T’Challa’s build up a bit. He’s still a major bad ass, though. I look forward to playing him shortly as I continue to my story and he gets into a little combat.

Clean Up 4/27/08: Another revamp of one of my faves sees me take T'Challa to a new level since I have started reading his new series. Reggie Hundlin has really made him into the black Batman for all intents and purposes and I just love it. So this NPC-ish build of T'Challa gets the full treatment of a conditional higher PL, the Ebony Blade, the Thrice Blessed Armor, the Dora Milaje bodyguards, more wealth and skills and slightly improved stats.

I made the Blade and Armor optional equipment that could have been acquired with HP usage, but I wanted them to be more readily available. I could also have added all the Wakandan technology and resources, but that is really more of a plot device. This would be a fun, fun build to run.

As a matter fact, I think I'll do that. :)

Comments: A little homage to Eddie Murphy in 48 Hrs there with the quote.

Although this is generally based on the DCU John Stewart, I kept seeing the JLU John Stewart Green Lantern, with the military background and such, so I guess I kind of made an amalgam. I thought his character in the DCU was handled OK, but I think any of you who have surfed my thread know that I am a total JL/JLU mark, and I thought that version was just great.

I borrowed heavily from Taliesin’s power ring structure, but I did not go so far as make it a minion, although a case could certainly be made for that. I simply made it the “most powerful weapon in the universe” as it has been referred to several times and stopped with that. But the thing can basically do anything, and they’ve showed that a million times in the comics and other continuities. When you really think about it, it’s amazing anyone has ever beaten the GL Corps as a group, but hey, the heroes have to fall sometimes or you never have a good story!

Clean Up 10/28/07: John gets a Concentration Check Flaw on his Power Ring array, as did Guy.

Thanks for the well wishes. He's still having a lot of tests, we'll know more later. He could need a pacemaker, could need new medicine for existing health issues, could have a whole new deal going on, too early to tell. A lot of this could have been avoided if he had dealt with an issue 30 years ago that has cost him a lot the past few years, but he was too "tough". Looks like at least another day in the hospital, though.

That probably also means another night of goofing around here to keep my mind off of it as well. As I mentioned before, I am so glad I have this hobby that I find "time well wasted".

However, this incident has led me to pilot a new feature here at J-Mart:

Comments: I don’t really care for Roy as Red Arrow, but I dug him as Arsenal so he’s Arsenal in my world. Roy Harper was the original Speedy, famously known for the controversional Green Arrow/Green Lantern comic where he was a heroin addict because...Ollie wouldn't talk to him? Oh well, it was the 70's after all, not like people needed much of a reason to do drugs.

Anyway, since then, he a long time member of the Teen Titans and then Titans and he's floated from book to book in other capacities, like being an agent of Checkmate. Now he's in the Justice League as Red Arrow. But I liked him best in Judd Winick's revival of The Outsiders where he formed the team with Nightwing, Jade, Thunder, Grace, Indigo and Shift. Great writing and he kicked ass as the secondary "jaded former sidekick" along with Grayson. I do love that relationship that he shares with Grayson, like two former frat pledges that went through the same hazing.

As a build, he's Roy as you would expect, a good melee fighter but wicked bad at range. I didn't go the trick arrow route because that's more of his old Speedy gig and has Arsenal he seemed to be getting away from that. As noted above, he is part of the Nightwing's current team in the Thorpacoverse and still getting busy with da ladies, much to Cage's delight as he relives his old philanddering ways vicariously through Roy.
