Daughter of Thor and Sif, she always hated the name Thrud. So she prefers to go by Megin…it means the same thing, and sounds a lot better. One fateful day, while she was…visiting… with Heimdall on Bifrost, the Rainbow Bridge was assaulted by a large mixed force of Fire and Frost Giants. Megin was carrying her grandfather’s mace, Thrudstock, at the time, since she was technically on guard duty. Faced by foes too numerous to defeat, or even meaningfully slow down, she told Heimdall to warn Asgard…and slammed Thrudstock down on the Bridge, breaking it. She and the Giants fell to earth, where Doc Bronze and the Bronze Brigade helped her defeat those that fell nearby. While Thrudstock can summon the Rainbow Bridge…it doesn’t go anywhere, at the moment, as she broke it in half. Thus, she is trapped on Earth, which she calls Midgard, along with many of her ancient enemies. Others will come hunting her, in time.

Megin is a large, muscular, buxom red-headed Asa, superficially resembling a human of Nordic stock. She wears a corslet of shining chain mail, crafted for her by Eitri the dwarf, and bears the black iron mace Thrudstock in her right hand. Her hair reaches to her buttocks in back, and is usually tightly braided. Her legs are cased in tight leather breeches, with fur topped boots that come up almost to her knees.

She’s young, and inexperienced, as Aesir go, but she’s mind numbingly strong…stronger than her old man, perhaps…but not as strong as her brother Magni.

edit: Found references to her red hair like her father, changed this.:) The picture at the top is by the player, Amy Moore, who has an account on Elfwood if you'd like to see more of her work. This pic shows Megin as she is in Asgard. She's not wearing her armor, and the hammer in her hand is her personal hammer, not her father's hammer or her grandfather's mace, which is what she's carrying in Midgard.

edit: Updating all the Bronze Brigade, because the Vanguard are supposed to be Avenger's level heroes. Megin gets an extra pl compared to the rest because she's built on 15 *fewer* points.

Dalin Kor joined the COP right after his graduation from the Crossworld Academy. He is a highly trained operative, charged with protection of the innocent, punishment of the guilty, and enforcement of Crossworld laws…especially versus
supernatural and extra-dimensional or dimension traveling villains.

His powers stem from the Soulfire Vambraces, a pair of necromantic armguards made of a deep green metal called soulsteel. Into it are forged the inherent and necromantic powers of numerous ghosts and spirits who either volunteered for the process, or were condemned to this eternal imprisonment as punishment for their crimes. None of his powers work on things protected by extract of moly (a mystic herb), and his own long term exposure to the vambraces makes him sick in its presence. Once a day, he must return to his homeworld, and recharge the vambraces and the spirits within from the mystic energies of the Well of Souls. If a successful exorcism is performed, the power of Soulfire is suppressed for several minutes, as the spirits providing it are temporarily driven into deep hiding in the vambraces. Soulfire, in all its manifestations, appears as an eldritch, deep green flame, filled with the howling of damned souls.

Soulfire, as the locals name him, joined Doc Bronze’s team of the Vanguard, also known as the Bronze Brigade, when they teamed up to fight the world hopping, madness spreading, Demon Princess Pandemonia.

He and the rest of the team recently helped a young Hyderian Manticore escape her besiged dimension...the young one has enrolled at the Vanguard Academy.

Basically, this is my world’s Doc Savage. (Or Buckaroo Banzai). He’s good at everything, highly trained in Boxing, Wrestling, and Judo. He was born in 1860, and hasn’t aged a day since 1885. He has no idea why…and he’s done a lot of testing. It seems he was simply born just a little better than a normal human in every way. He’s faster, stronger, smarter, and tougher. He’s confident, smooth, and careful. He’s also old-fashioned, mildly chauvinist, and a heavy drinker, smoker, and womanizer.


Given anything to work with, he can make outrageous gadgetry out of junk, like MacGuyver. One phone call to old friends gets him information or help in the strangest of circumstances.

Note that he has 6 hero points at the start of any session…and has a lot of things he can do with him. He has every leadership type feat, can judge his opponents remarkably well… and usually has sufficient information to make a very frightening Master Plan. He is the leader and founder of The Vanguard, and also field leader of Vanguard East, the squad also known as the Bronze Brigade.

He’s 6’2”, 220 lbs with a lean and compact muscled frame. His hair is light brown bleached blonde by the sun. His skin is a vibrant bronze tan, and his eyes are sky blue. He most often wears a khaki shirt with pockets and epaulets, khaki cargo pants tucked into combat boots (spit polished), and a heavy utility belt with a holster for the Bronze Gun slung low on the right side and secured to his thigh by a thong.

edit: Updated for power creep, like the others. He's a PL lower, but has more PP. He had more PP to begin with so, no big.:)

Doc Bronze *is* near the top of the Villain's Most Hated Heroes List, in my world. I mean, imagine if Batman kept his easy going party boy Bruce Wayne persona *while* kicking your butt? And really did seem to be as lucky and good as he thought he was? He's really irritating.

Perry Chandler was a candle-maker (chandler) in Regency England. Small, weak, and cowardly, he made his way through his days and nights wishing to be something more. He always wanted to be a hero. Early one morning, just before sunrise, he was walking through the streets of London on an errand for his master, when he came upon a woman being molested by a street thug. He called out, in a quavering voice, “Stop that, varlet!” and advanced…knowing all the while that he was doomed. He prayed, quietly, to God and all the Angels of Light to let him help the poor woman. Just as he reached the woman, the sun rose, bathing him in a golden glow, which suffused his frame. His prayer had been answered. In moments, he was a perfect paragon of a man, tall, strong, and handsome…and possessed of earth-shattering might. A struggle ensued between he and the ‘thug’… which ended in two things: the revelation that the thug was in fact a demon, set on the woman by an evil sorcerer; and the defeat of that demon by the strength of his arms.
Afterward, the woman revealed that she was a member of a secret order of demon hunters within the Church of England, and that they could use his abilities. He has been a hero ever since.

These days, Perry Chandler is an accountant, with a thriving business…the more so since all his customers know he is also the superhuman Paragon, role model to heroes and Champion of Light.

He wears white and gold, with a tunic similar to that of Captain Marvel (Shazam) emblazoned with a stylized gold ‘P’ in front of an x, forming the symbol known as the chi rho, on his left breast. He does not wear a cape, but does wear a broad gold belt, gold knee high boots, and golden gloves that fold over at the wrists. He is 6’4”, over 265 lbs, with golden hair and eyes, and pale, almost translucent skin. His whole form emits a faint golden glow, very noticeable at night. When he concentrates, he can strike out with that glow, and damage even nearly invulnerable foes…but such concentration makes him vulnerable.

As strong as he is, he never actually needed to learn to fight…and this shows. He knows some tricks, but he mostly relies on his enormous strength, his near invulnerability, and his sense of fair play.

His power is maintained by sunlight, and if he is kept out of sunlight for 24 hours straight, he will begin to die. (Primarily because he will start to age…)

He’s a Golden Age hero like Superman or Captain Marvel. Unfortunately, he’s in a post-Iron Age world.

He teamed up with Doc Bronze for the first time in 1914 to fight a cabal of dark wizards and their undead minions. He learned the value of teamwork, then, and something of the art of leadership from Doc Bronze...despite his much greater experience.

He's a charter member of the Shield of Britain, based in London, and a founding member of the Vanguard.

Short Order, the late night waffle cook turned super hero

It happened after midnight. Three men in masks, stormed in the door of the diner, and demanded all the money. As the patrons were groveling and giving up their hard earned cash, Sammy Stokes was getting mad. He'd grown up on the mean streets. He'd done his own time in crime, and then in jail. He'd gone straight, gotten a decent job, life was looking up. Now *this*. He lost it...and in that moment, he was granted great power by the Brownie who lived in his kitchen, and thought it would be funny.

He thundered out of the kitchen, throwing waffle irons, knives, and platters with deadly skill. He drove off the robbers, who were picked up by the police when they went to the ER for their wounds.

Resolving to use his great power for good, he became...Short Order.

He does the listed amount of damage with even whisks and spatulas, because his damage depends only on his own power, enhanced feats and on his Str...not on the damage of the items.

Billy Harris, age 8. He’s got a glandular condition. It makes him emotionally unstable. Prone to severe loss of control, even seizures, when under stress. It’s always been difficult to deal with, but he’s a bright kid, and his parents are coping.

Then, he and his parents are at the circus. A terrorist and sorcerer by the name of Dr. Umbros has left a package under the bleachers. It’s a magic time bomb, primed to activate the latent talents of any one who might become a metahuman. It goes off, and lo and behold, Billy is a latent. Or rather, was a latent. Now he’s 8’8”, 2000 lbs of raging, psychotic maniac, screaming, “I want cotton candy!” loud enough to permanently damage the hearing of those around him. Thirty six people are killed, hundreds injured, in the mayhem that follows, before heroes manage to calm him enough that he reverts to Billy.

Billy is a good kid. He can’t help his glands. But now, any time he becomes angry, scared, frustrated…he throws the world’s most dangerous Tantrum.

There are drugs that keep him peaceable…but the sedatives leave him dulled, stupid, slow. He hates them, and avoids taking them when he can.

What do supers do with an unstoppable monster who is also a scared little boy?
His mother does her best…but she’s going slowly insane with worry. His father left them, claiming his mother must have been unfaithful to bear such a monster.

And every time Billy loses it, more people die.

Two years further down the road. Billy's been learning martial arts to help him with his self control. It *has* helped...but it also means Tantrum is that much more dangerous when he gets loose.

Dr. Brigit O’Brian is a Professor of Religion and Philosophy at UGA. She teaches, in particular, Celtic religions, comparative religion, philosophies based on celtic tradition, and European Occult practice. She was one of the five people initially selected by Danu and granted the powers of the ancient Celtic Gods. In her case, it was the powers of her namesake, Brigit, and the Fire and Sun Gods Bel and Lugh.

She’s straightforward and versatile in combat, able to throw a variety of blasts of fire and light. Experienced as she is in the occult, and matters of religion, she’s one of the people the group turns to for mystic solutions. She’s also often the first person to a situation, since she’s a very fast flier indeed.


She’s of average height and build, with golden hair (highlighted with hints of fiery red) and blue eyes the color of a very hot flame. Her clothing, unlike her teammates, is light, and not at all protective…she wears flowing robes of diaphanous white, gold and red, along with a red-gold torc around her neck. From the torc hangs a quartered-cross symbol made of carved sapphire. Her face is hidden by a thin seeming veil of cloth attached to her robes, and a hood may be drawn over her hair at need.
