Thanks for shopping at J-Mart, Troy! Glad you're enjoying the builds. We've got several more coming up and I am lining out a couple of storylines as well that I hope I can handle decently.

And since I just started watching my Transformers DVD, I feel some clean up on those builds is necessary. I also need to look at my Kryptonian power sets and clean them up, too. Gonna be spending a lot of time at the J-Mart office over the next few days... :D

On Aisle 1, a brand new paranoid action figure can be found. Mask not included and must be bought separately. Batteries included. Grappling hook gun does not shoot a grappling hook.

Knockback - -2 (-1 flat-footed)

Toughness - +5 (+3 flat-footed)
Fortitude - +6

Skills - Acrobatics 6 (+9), Bluff 8 (+7), Climb 6 (+10), Gather Information 5 (+4), Intimidate 5 (+4), Investigate 8 (+10), Knowledge (current events) 4 (+6), Knowledge (streetwise) 6 (+8), Notice 6 (+9), Search 8 (+10), Sense Motive 6 (+9), Sleight of Hand 4 (+7), Stealth 8 (+11)

Feats - Contacts, Defensive Roll 2, Diehard, Dodge Focus 3, Endurance, Equipment, Improved Initiative, Improvised Tools, Power Attack, Sneak Attack, Takedown Attack

Equipment: Grappling Hook Gun (Super-Movement 2 (wall-crawling 1, slow-fall), Alternate Power: Strike 3 (Power Feat: Extended Reach))

 Here is Rorschach, my favorite comic book character, in all his low-powered glory. He actually came out cheaper than I expected, and only a single point above the 15 power point per power level guideline, so it'd be easy to find a way to shave that one point off (you could just take out Sneak Attack or another feat and be done with it, really).

 I avoided giving Rorschach combat feats, because he fights once or twice with his fists or grappling hook gun in a fair fight in the whole series, usually having an advantage like stealth or a broken toilet and exposed electric wires. Mostly, I focused on his skills and his physical stats, and giving him above average intelligence and wisdom. Even though his focus lies outside combat, he is a solid PL 6, meeting all the caps and a fairly capable combatant. Not a guy you'd like to meet in a dark alley (especially if you're carrying an illegal drug or anything unlicensed).

In the words of the great Jim Ross, STONE COLD!!! STONE COLD!!! STONE COLD!!!

I used to love Austin in his heyday. Could really work a match, had great mike skills, a good “anti-hero” image, really seemed to care about putting on a good show for the fans. He was really the face of the WWE when the hit their stride in the late 90’s and really helped usher in that Golden Age of wrestling. He’s faded as his body has betrayed him and as he’s tried to start acting, but he’s still a fave of mine.

Austin is a brawler, pure and simple. And of course, his finisher is that chiropractic nightmare, The Stone Cold Stunner, which, as expected, I used the Stun power to attempt to replicate.

Comments:
Here he is, the Brahma Bull, the People's Champ, the most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment; my all-time favorite wrestler, Dwayne Johnson, AKA, The Rock. His work rate was debatable at times, especially after his handsome mug started making him millions outside of the ring, but no one EVER was better on the mike. That led me to make sure he had an insane Bluff modifier and high Intimidate because he could lay it on so thick, people were afraid to verbally spar with him because they knew he would make them look bad. There were guys in the WWE that didn’t want to get into “angles” with him just because of that. That’s why he worked with guys like Austin and Mick Foley (coming soon, I love me some Mick) so much because they could keep up.

On his build, I struggled to come with how to represent his Rock Bottom finisher because I saw it as a Trip attack, but UP says it’s a ranged attack, otherwise you just use the Trip combat move, and ranged attacks just don’t happen in wrestling. So increased his base attack to follow that rule, but I don’t really care for that, so I may change it later. I linked it with a Stun attack because initially, it was his only finisher, but once he started doing the People’s Elbow and having the crowd go nuts, it mostly became the set up move to that. And since I gave the People’s Elbow the flaw of needing a stunned opponent, the Stun LP seemed perfect.

Again, as I stated with my Hogan build, I am building these wrestlers as the characters they portrayed, so the powers are just a way of emulating what effect their special moves had in the performance or in a video game. I sense my first Design Diary coming on…

Comments: And now my thread is legitimate. I have a Batman build!

Geez, I could go on for a quite a while about this build, but I’ll try to be brief. He is the man, everyone else needs to bow down and accept that he will beat you, somehow, someway, period. He may lose a battle, but never the war.

I was lazy, so I gave him Comprehend languages, which actually really doesn't apply, but it was either that or list out all the languages he has been credited with. It was just easier to do it this way. And when was the last time Batman couldn't figure something out, anyway? I don't think it's too much of a reach.

On his gadgets, I plan on adding to the list as I test him, or think of things, so the Batarangs are just the tip of the iceberg there.

I was tempted to build him at PL11 since I don’t quite see him physically at Cap level, who I am building at 12, but everywhere else, he is definitely “peak human”. I may move him down after a test or two, we'll see.

Clean Up 8/21/07: Nothing major, I just forgot to add in his Wealth ranks earlier when I debating about not using it save PP. But since I am throwing PP limits to the wind, I threw them in.

Clean Up 10/18/07: Couple of tweaks and SHOCKER, added more points. I had miscalculated the cost of Gadgets in the Batsuit so I had to add in for that. I raise his Gadget array from 10pp to 15pp while I was at it and I like that a lot better now. Gives him more options.

A couple of tweaks to The Dark Knight. I swore to myself that I would not test him early on because so many people had done Batman fights, stories, etc.

But I can't help it, he just looks like too much fun to play! I'm going to work up at least a random deal between him and someone shortly.

I was never a big fan of pro wrestling, but to not include this in the Rock's build is just wrong!

Oh, and it looks like my She-Hulk/Hulk Hogan fight is goign to have to be delayed. Hope to have it by next weekend, but I have family coming in from out of state and I start a new job Monday.

Oh, just had a great idea! You could give all of these pro wrestlers the Normal Identity Drawback, and they'll be able to have the super-human in ring persona whenever they step into the "squared circle," but outside of the ring they'd just be a bunch of really buff dudes.

Oh, and you've actually gone and caused me to start stating out "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan! Hope to have it for ya sometime tonight!

Background: Nearly three decades have passed since the 2x4-lugging tough guy “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan first stepped into a ring. Since that time, the Superstar from Glens Falls, N.Y., has seen sports-entertainment evolve from a regional-based business into the global phenomenon it is today. He’s also seen hundreds of his colleagues come and go, but somehow, after all this time, Duggan still finds himself a part of the WWE roster.

Hacksaw considers himself a very fortunate man. That word relates to how lucky Duggan is after what he went through in the ‘90s while he was working with WCW. That’s when Duggan was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Through early detection of the disease, and by the “grace of God and by the skills of the surgeon,” Duggan’s life – and career – was saved. And it wasn’t long before he began to ponder the next phase of his life, which included a return to the ring.

The powerful ex-football player was a regular in WWE rings throughout the 80's and early 90's, using his impressive physical stature to overpower opponents with his signature Three-Point Stance Clothesline. Hacksaw has always been a favorite of the WWE fans, carrying his trademark 2x4 and proudly waving the American flag for all to see. For more than two decades, fans have chanted along as Hacksaw bellows out the letters: U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

 Hacksaw is old school, he's a brawler not an acrobat... He might not work the mic like The Rock or Stone Cold, but I'll be damned if you can show me a wrestling fan that doesn't like this guy! His "gimmick" is about as pure and simple as you can get - working class tough guy who loves his country. He's all about mom, apple pie, and beating your ass with a 2 x 4. God bless America.

A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.
