Real Name: Richard Jorgenson
Height / Weight: 5’10” / 180 lbs.
Hair / Eyes: Brown / Green
Place of Birth: Chicago, Illinois (April 3, 1957 - September 8, 2001)
First Appearance: Vindicators #350 (as Richard Jorgenson) / Vindicators #400 (as Chimera)
Biography: When Richard Jorgenson was 16-years-old, the infamous Neo-Sapien terrorist, Miss Multiple, attacked his high school with one intent: abduct Richard Jorgenson. Her abilities spawned duplicates who had their own mentality and powers- powers mimicking whatever Neo-Sapien happens to be nearby when they are created. She was on a mission that required her to go undercover and she knew what Richard had been praying no one ever learned…
He could morph his appearance, altering the way he looked to resemble anyone he had ever touched.
He was relieved when three of his teachers, Neo-Sapiens themselves, rose up to fight the villainess and protect his secret. Still, he had another secret- one he thought was almost as dark as his genetic status: Richard was sleeping with his chemistry teacher, Professor Philip Alston.
When Professor Alston’s actions were found out, Richard was shamed. His father began to beat him, calling him names like faggot and queer. Ultimately, Richard chose to deny any willingness on his part and accused Professor Alston of molestation. He already hated one aspect of who he was- his Neo-Sapien heritage… why not hate more of his essence?
Fervently denying his homosexuality, Richard became over-sexed, sleeping with numerous women in an effort to vindicate his façade of an existence. Overtime he became so deluded that he had convinced himself that he had been molested and set out to destroy his one-time lover, now the superhero known as Professor Incendiary.
Posing as Alston, Richard began committing crimes that drew Professor Alston’s attention and brought the Vindicators IV down upon him. Through his inexperience, he was unable to defeat the object of his rage and retreated to try again weeks later, in the wake of the Moksha Incident. Ultimately, Richard ended up working with Miss Multiple, posing as Victoria Richmond to lure Doctor Splash into a trap. Richard played the part so well, he slept with Doctor Bradley, abducting him while he slumbered in bed beside him.
Though his actions had played a vital role in causing the Vindicators IV to disband, he felt no joy as defeating his foes. Instead, he wandered the streets of New York, unsure of just what he truly was. Ultimately, he met another costumed villain, the teleporting Xianbei and the two began a harmless relationship.
Their marriage was almost destroyed in the early 1990’s when Richard revealed his son- sired in an affair with his old partner in crime, Miss Multiple. The villain discarded their child and the Jorgensons took to raising the boy as their own- never revealing his heritage to him, despite how obvious it was that Xianbei (a Chinese woman) was not his biological mother.
Overtime, the two had reformed and returned to the adventurous lifestyle they had left behind as heroes. They aided Onyx, Siphon, Michuru and Bio in their maiden adventure- fighting the Order of Chaos –and were soon added to the Vindicators VII.
Soon after, Richard’s insecurities boiled over again and he sought once more to establish his heterosexuality. He began an affair with Onyx, one his wife eventually learned of and threatened to divorce him over. While she began the paperwork, the team found themselves called into battle against Atlas. Separated in the struggle, Chimera and Siphon found themselves alone against the villain. Siphon began to drain Atlas’ abilities and Chimera touched Siphon to create a distraction for the young hero to use against the villain. In doing so, his powers and Siphon’s powers reacted and Chimera’s abilities catalogued Atlas’ powers. Siphon was incapacitated and Chimera overtook the villain, secretly killing him and beginning to pose as the villain for months…
It was in September of 2001 that he sprung his trap. Chimera (posed as Atlas) held the earth in rotation. Such an act summoned the Vindicators VII where he separated his team. It was all a ruse to provide an opportunity to kill his wife, but she proved more capable a fighter than he expected. She had severed one of his arms with her spears and with her last breath she used her mind switching abilities to let him die in her body- letting Silvia Lee live on as the second Chimera…

I knew the role I wanted him to play- from beyond the grave, but it was a challenge and a half to figure out how to interpret that through stats. I bought his powers individually as Gravity Control and Magnetic Control and added them together to figure out how high he would need them to move the moon (or the earth) and ultimately... this is the result.
Atlas' power becomes Move Object, a marriage of Gravity Control and Magnetic Control with the descriptor of centripetal force (what guides the earth's orbit). Still, there was the problem of how to represent his strength. Ultimately, I opted to go with Move Object X, with the powers still falling into the power level limit. Essentially, Atlas has (had) the strength to move the earth but his blasts were still an avatar of how powerful he was.
In Chimera we get this. The full power drawback on a Move Object X might seem strange but it's there to represent that Chimera didn't exactly have a fine control over Atlas' abilities.
