For I bring to you my "art".

The Clamorous Cricket, a character I played briefly for an M&M Session:

I'm Red/Green Colour blind, so you can imagine how much of a challenge this was:

More to come as I get time.

Meanwhile I have a question. The Clamorous Cricket's costume is actually somewhat metallic (like a tightly fitting battle suit), anyone have any cheap and fast ways of making that sort of effect?

Peace all.

(Meanwhile if you liked that you can check out my Webcomic. Teaching people to say #@$% in longhand).[/img]

Hey Nighthunter, good to see you posting some stuff. Like your Cricket's pose! Very cool. Regarding your question, use some highlights of your colours and some white for light reflection and some black for reflections.

Hey mate.
I like your Cricket character, reminds me of Bug from the Micronauts. Have you done any pics in pencil?

I do most of my pics in Pencil, and in fact love my Pencil art very very much. The problem is that when I scan pencil images they always look awful on the screen. So I've taken to inking my work before scanning it.

Or throwing up my Texta Sketches, which are just fun for me because the colours are written right there on the textas lol.

And because I'm in a zone at the moment.

Halloween Lad!

Is he a gadgeteer with a ton of halloween tricks? Is he the spirit of a holiday possessing an unassuming teenager? Is he an alternate What If? universe version of Peter Parker raised by Norman Osborn?

That's up to you True Believers!

Hey mate,
The key to scanning pencils is to click on the Reset button after you have scanned the picture using Greyscale mode. This forces the scanner to show the pencils how they really are instead of how it interprets it. Take a look at my latest post of Sandstorm which is done in pencils.

I'll have to try do that next time I'm on the computer. But for now, I'm off to bed, I'll just repost some old images that I used for characters on the Roll Call forums.

Mystery Man, Man... of Mystery
Image

I used myself as a reference for this drawing. (Note the sexy avatar).

And Jake Fist!

Image

I used a picture of Bruce Lee as a reference for this one.

Did you know Bruce Lee had freakishly long fingers?
I didn't until I tried to draw him. Wierd.

Anyways, more tomorrow, or not. We'll see how I go.

AAAAARRGH! MY EYES!

(Actually your sketches are rather good Nighthunter. They're a good deal better than my pitiful efforts.)

Thanks DrZero, I like to keep my poses dynamic, I find that when your art has dynamic composition it distracts from my weaknesses. (For example, despite the cool way The Clamorous Cricket's left leg is posed, his upper thigh is different to the other leg, something I only noticed after posting the piece).

Plus you get a deeper sense of character when you give a character an interesting pose. Spider-Man poses tend to be the easiest for me because I've studied them for so long. I always have trouble making my more beefy or feminine characters look dynamic. Weaknesses I need to work on really.

That's all we punters can ask of an artist, that they try their best and continue to improve by doing so! :D

So here's the amazing Aqua Marine! An aquatic young superheroine.

This is Aquamarine after I ruin her by spewing colours all over her precious beautiful inks.

well done Nighthunter, she would fit right into a Teen titan cartoon.

You need to concentrate on your colouring a bit more as its letting you down. Your obviously using a mouse which can be difficult but try to avoid your colours from bleeding across your line work (such as the green seaweed)

Very good Nighthunter! I can see what you mean about the colouring, but your inking is very fine. :D
