Background:
Robyn Drake’s background begins in a cliché.

During the 80s, Jessica Drew (aka Spider Woman) was assigned the task of determining the identities of the so-called Teen Titans, primarily Spiderman.

She might very nearly have succeeded, as her primary choice of target was the then current Nightwing. At the time, Jessica also joined the NYPD as a detective (her credentials forged by S.H.I.E.L.D.). Tim Drake was also working through the GCPD at the time, using his influence as an officer to aid the Titans and his own vigilante-alter-ego. As fate (and bad storytelling) would have it, Jessica and Tim started seeing each other.

Eventually, Spider Woman did discover the identity of Nightwing and by extension deduced many of the Titans' identities including Spiderman's. As expected though, she refused to divulge that information.

Robyn grew up in relative normalcy, unaware of her parents’ alter-egos.

In high school, she exceledl at gymnastics – her mother’s enhanced metabolism showing signs of having passed down. She also showed signs of a gifted intellect and took to many of her subjects with an ease that made her a top student and the envy of many others.

It was the emergence of some of her other powers that caused Robyn to question if she was a metahuman and eventually led to an admission by her father that her mother had not died in a shoot-out but at the hands of Lex Luthor and his allies.

Robyn also discovered to her dismay that her body exuded pheremones that she had little control over… however she also discovered her venom blast when one of her classmates was severely injured in a football game – she supplemented her own first aid skill with a light shock to the other teen’s heart and saved his life...

Her father never actually forbade her from becoming a superhero, and she soon fashioned hero own costume and identity, becoming the third Nightwing…

 The original parents behind this concept were to be Spiderman and Oracle. When it came to the intro to the campaign where I wanted to play her (incidentally the same campaign where I’m playing Diana Troy/ Supergirl) the GM asked for a switch. Her parents actually appeal to me more than the original, and allow for some slight variations from a “Standard” Spiderman.

 I don’t like the pheremone power, but included it in homage to her mother. It never really gets used in the comics that I’ve seen anyway… a concentration check lets her shut it off, at least temporarily.

 She glides as an AP of her leaping, much as Jessica did originally. I would permit a player to stunt gliding off of leaping simply becausethe game mechanics allow for half leaping rank as regular flight anyway, which is far more useful than Leaping IMO. This way they maintain the flavor of the character.

 She has Spidey’s web-shooters, or copies thereof. In my world, as had been done by others here on the boards, Spiderman made his web shooters available to other heroes, even going so far as to providethe tech to the NYPD. Obtaining web-shooters was not too big of a stretch and fit the concept.

 Kaleb is from a Legends of the Dead Earth Superman Annual. I qualify that run of annuals as Elseworlds…

 This build relies heavily on other statters, particularily Taliesin IIRC.

 The blast and slam power represent the fact that I don’t see a fisherman have anywhere near the skill in combat that Kaleb demonstrates. As such, he can blast stellar energy without need for an attack roll and his grav slam is a similar use of the Blast power, just with a ‘touch range’ descriptor.

 the burrowing power is my interpretation of Superman’s ability to slam his invulnerable body into the ground and tunnel his way forward.

 During the story, Kaleb discovers the ability to open warps – I modelled this with ESP and Illusion – the illusion is the ability to create a visual representation of what he is seeing.

 My version of Cir-El shares the same origin as the original incarnation except that her “benefactor” wasn’t Brainiac, it was Lex Luthor and his Everyman Project.

 Her skills include the bonuses from her feats, and are meant to reflect her “True” persona of Mia, who was a “street person” from my research into the character.

 She was killed in my universe before establishing a name for herself, losing a battle with the Russian assassin known as Cythonna when the latter discovered that while Cir-El’s powers were Kryptonian based, the woman was an augmented human...

 The Flight Ring and the GL Power Ring are both by Taliesin. I reduced the power in the GL ring a little to keep the final cost below 200 PP.

 Once again, I haven't posted the minion stats for the ring. Those are available on Taliesin's thread

 The presence of both those rings, while technically redundant, are actually quite useful together. There are at least 5 power points of the devixe, though, that could be shaved off and still have the character at her current power levels. I left it their for accounting purposes.

 In keeping with her name, I’m thinking (visually at least) a Yellow Power Ring or a Red Power Ring might be more appropriate… But then, it’s kind of hard to justify the name with the mindset of those latter two rings. So she stays Green and heroic…

 I don’t include the funky gestalt form they use to try and summon a portal to Mojo’s world. It also fails to account for the fact that they seem to be immune to death (returning after a certain amount of time). I account the latter to being a part of Mojo’s crew. He has copies and reruns available if an original gets cancelled…

 The only thing I’m not sure in terms of cost is the immunity to TK and TP. I rank them at 5 each. Considering that this is a NPC build it’s not extremely important, but it’s worth noting

 lifted and inspired mostly from the boards, Big Barda is mostly a straightforward brick with a nasty weapon in the Mega Rod. She also pays for the Mother Box, which is built into the circuits of her Apokiliptian Armour

 On the sunject of Armor, if it wasn't for the cost, I might be tempted to make the armr based on an Aborption effect, but that has no real basis on the comics (The Nail or otherwise.) so I left it at simple protection/

 This build is posted mostly to compliment the next one I plan to post, also from JLA: Another Nail.

 updated image, corrected point cost (error in the calculation of the mega rod - I over charged the character...)

 Scott Free from JLA: Another Nail. Worth noting, that while Barda wears modified Apokoliptian Armor (essentially her amour sans cape and coloured green in certain places) and is considered the GL of New Genesis, the ring is actually bonded with Scott Free and Barda’s Mother Box.

 Any physical task that Scott attempts is a manifestation of his precise telekinesis, focused through the visual key of touching it. However, I left him as the skill monkey that I envision, even though he doesn’t have a physical form anymore.

 Scott pays for the GL ring with his points, even though he is effectively made of that energy. If the ring loses it’s charge, Scott is effectively trapped within it as a disembodied spirit and unable to affect the real world. (He’s actually trapped within Barda’s armor, not the ring.) This effect – and to explain how he can disappear and reappear with frequency is a rank of Super-Movement/ Dimensional Movement.

 Scott also benefits from a modified version of Taliesin’s GL ring. Should Scott somehow die, the ring will revert to the ‘standard’ version. In the meantime, Scott’s merging with it and the Mother Box has altered some of its functions, giving him comprehend, datalink and machine control…

 Superwoman, Kristin Wells. She has very few appearances Pre Crisis and it seems Post Third Kryptonian storyline that she’ll be a full-blooded Kryptonian. This build reflects a cross between her wikipedia entry and a build for another game system I found on writeups.org

 She purposefully doesn’t hit her caps. She’s meant to be a reactionary hero and not a proactive one. I represent this as Kristen journeys to the past for specific events/ reasons and due to the nature of the time stream always arrives a little off the actual event time. Thus she is either searching for it or playing catch up, Her precog represents historical knowledge and has the normal vagueness and margin for error associated with that power due to the remoteness of history books to the actual events.

 Her powerset speaks for itself based on the above mentioned references, I used TK instead of Super-Strength more for flavor than anything else. I have no idea what her “Interdimensional whole poker” is, so I simply used a portal teleport for it. She apparently has to trace a circle to use the power, but I view that as descriptor and not worth a drawback, much less a flaw.

 In my campaign world, Superwoman actually uses the Supernova uniform, with above listed powers. Furthermore, she uses the name Starbolt. One of her major purposes in this time is the pursuit of the so-called hero known as Booster Gold. She hasn’t made an open move against him for much the same reason that Superman cannot easily move against Luthor – popular opinion and methods show the time travelling villain in a much better light. It’s just a matter of time though…

 For the reason noted in the previous note, Kristin is listed twice in my index – once as Superwoman and once as Starbolt. Both links point to this entry.

 Toughness is actually 11, but I left it at 11.5 as this is the calculation given by the Density Control power. In fact, all stats listed above are considering maximum density and all points in the Flight Array are dedicated to Super-Strength

 The idea behind this character is that the Xandarian Energy Matrix which created Nova in the Marvel Universe also created Firestorm. The background of the character is that the original Nova (active toward the end of World War II and a member of the All-Star Squadron/ Avengers) was Rick Jones (dominant personality) and Dr Bruce Banner (who was never the Hulk). Two other Nova personas were noted throughout the years, before Garthan Saal reclaimed the Matrix for Xandar ant then returning it to a new Earth host.

 There can be several versions of the character in existence at any one time, as the Matrix an aspect represents the Nova Corps, with the hosts chosen wielders of that power. (Firelord is another such Matrix in my universe.) The Xandarian Matrix puts the Nova Corps on an equal footing to the Darkstars and Green Lantern Corps in my universe.

 This is a rather expensive character. It was mainly an exercise in using Gestalt. I used Mimic to not have to fiddle with stats to account for different components to the Gestalt. It can also provide immense variety to the character. There is a descriptor for the Gestalt that does not come across in points. The matrix consists of up to five PL 5/ 75 point characters. The dominant personality is chosen when the matrix configures itself to its current host(s). Therefore, if the GM is feeling particularly creative, it’s very easy to insert another personality.

 Morph and Metamorph represent the different appearances of Firestorm over the years, from the original, to the Arkadin/ Raymond version to the Leonine version. The actual Metamorph aspect should be used sparingly. I would use it mainly on the Transform power. (Creating Gravimetric powers, Fire spears and the like…)

 Despite 225 points to the character, I consider it playable in a PL 12 campaign. The Matrix will depend on its component(s) to reach it’s caps (through Mimic).

Yikes.

 My take on the Alien Queen… This build and my other aliens owe nods to Beliphron.

 I wanted to do something different with the Aliens… duplication struck me as insidious and altogether somehow appropriate. I wanted to try and make it “play legal” regardless of the point cost, and I’ve come pretty close. (I don’t favor giving NPCs powers that a PC couldn’t have – regardless of whether or not I’d actually allow a given power, I prefer as much as possible for it to fit into the mechanics.)

 Boost exists for the sole purpose of Boosting the Duplication score to 15 to allow for the creation of a new Queen. Since doing so would require the use of a HP (to alter the “duration” to permanent), I list a requirement of GM fiat to use the Boost. This also permits the “creation” of a new Queen when the current one has her full “alottment” of duplicates in existence…

 All aspects of Duplication have the same basic traits, with metamorph used to alter certain traits on the Drones, Workers, Praetors and the Hybrids to represent things from various films and books. Things like Predaliens and the like should be altogether different species. The progression feat applies to all three alien versions, but no more than 1000 can be in existence at any time – makes for a nice mix of minions and full fledged baddies… I would personally suggest a half a dozen praetors and then as appropriate to fill in the ranks. Workers is a “new” class of Xenomporph that I’ve come up with. More on that when I post them…

 At some level, the dependency of two mediums – eggs and hosts – could further reduce the Duplication cost. However… my thought is that the duplication is mostly descriptive so I left it as is. Besides, between the two mediums, it becomes descriptive.

 The Burrowing, of course, represents the acid’s ability to clear through several floors as shown and described in various sources. It only lasts one round as it fades. Given the description of the power, that’s 100 feet per round through soil/ sand. Clay or packed earth would be 50 feet, solid rock 25 feet… Enough I should think to go through at least two to three floors of solid concrete or steel…

 In terms of the power point cost – the entire Duplication Array (including the Boost effect) comes in at 46 points – making the Queen actually 184 points… fairly close to PL 12/180…

 On the subject of eggs. The Queen can have up to a 2500 (!!) of them at any time. They are the basis of her duplication. I don’t know what I plan to do with them yet, but I plan to implement some kind of mechanic where survival is related to impregnation (much like in the stories) and if a character survives impregnation the rest should be story driven (look at Superman vs Aliens for an example – Supes survives because he gets home. It’s decided even as the Facehugger has it’s way with him… but he still has to get home for his save to be successful…). Alternatively, I may simply add an attack requirement to Duplication where the Queen must suffocate or otherwise kill her subject. Coupled with the Triggered power Feat the death is delayed until the moment of Duplication.

 The equipment/ HQ is another attempt to add to the feel of the Aliens. It represents the Hive that frequently exists whenever there’s a queen around – thick sticky resin, repository for eggs… (“Spoiler:” This is also where the workers come in…)
 I toyed with several options regarding will saves – immunity, high will save etc… but I don’t really find any means of justifying it. There’s no canon references that I can find where there is the involvement of a telepath. I think I’d GM fiat to AP some kind of Illusion of Mental Blast/ Feedback effect to represent the sheer alienness of their minds.

 I’m left with trying to figure out how the eggs can get away from the hive. I suppose a lot of it can be simply story driven and plot device but I’m tickled by the way that this build is turning out and I’d really like to keep it in the realm of game mechanics…

Thanks !

I have no idea what you mean about AVP...

Actualy, it has to do with the fact that my copy of Supes vs Aliens is sitting on my shelf and I sort of sketched out a Redux where my Superman (the Speeding Bullets) one found Argo... cleaned the storyline up a little and am actually contemplating a Spiderman vs Predator and then maybe an Alien vs Bladeverse scenario...

I just have to work Spiderman into my timeline somehow... (considering he's one of my favorite characters that's actually pretty sad.)

Next post is a drone and a praetor...

 Triage on the Queen’s build… and voila! Drones and Praetors.

 Praetor and Drones shares the same stats as I see it. (Which means I could probably drop a rank of metamorph from the Queen.) The only difference is that Praetors are not minions.)

 The Queen will limit the number of Praetors that she creates due to the Feedback fall.

Updated Nightwing's history a little... made if fit more into the Bladeverse as there really isn't a Batman (yet).
