I really like the Rook. I especially like the "were" aspect of him and the threat of turning into a real bird forever.

I remember really loving the Corax book when White Wolf came out with it, and still fondly remember my Corax swashbuckler.

Thanks. He's kind of a merger of the Wolverine 'scrapper' and Batman 'costumed adventurer' archetypes...I just wanted to do one that felt halfway original, when i first created him, in like, 1988.

Crafted by the government scientists at Project Moreau, Marius is, to all appearances, an anthropomorphic Killer Whale, Orcinus Orca. His noseless face is slick back to the blowhole atop the back of his head, and his coloration is black from the top of the mouth and along his back, white on the belly and inside of arms and legs, with a splash of yellow at the temples. He is massive and muscular, and wears, generally, only tightfitting black and white swimtrunks. He is futher adorned by silver vambraces and a wide silver belt, gifts from greatful Atlanteans after he defeated a massive radioactive monster that threatened them.

Marius is about 15 years old, over 8’ tall, and several hundred pounds in weight, with a thick layer of insulating blubber over rock hard muscle. His physique looks human, and godlike in proportions and definition.

His trident was crafted by the government, for him to use to rip open the bottom of enemy ships and the like. His DNA includes elements and abilities from almost every variety of cetacean, and even a couple of bits of shark DNA.

He escaped from Project Moreau a couple of years ago, and sought asylum with the Green Knight…because even the government would rather not anger him, and his corps of lawyers…especially over a project which could garner them extensive negative media attention.

He’s really more of a paragon turned aquatic, than an Aquaman clone.

He and Mormaer have met, by the way, and get along alright…they tend to operate in different oceans. (Marius works the Pacific, these days, and Mormaer sticks mostly to the North Atlantic.)

Heh. Thanks for the praise. Have you read this whole, insane thread? All of these characters share a world and some background and interactions...

Not all of them, but at least half the characters.

Wonderful work. I have to look up your other ocean-going hero now.

Jack, I'm sorry I didn't look up Silverhand sooner.

He matched an old version of the grown-up Powerboy that I had (who eventually grew to be Morning Knight, at least so far).

The Hand of Nadhua is easily one of my favorite heroic myth weapons.

Dana Barnett is a college student, studying humanities. She’s also an EMT. 2 years ago, she tried to save the life of an elderly woman, who had been badly hurt. The old lady looked like she had been beaten and clawed by some large, hideous beast. She died in Dana’s arms, with a cryptic statement about Dana being, “A good choice for the burden of the Horn.”

When Dana got home that night, she discovered a 9” spiral, fluted horn, capped on one end with a wooden stopper, lying on her dining room table (such as it was). The horn had a long braided cord of white leather attached, apparently for wearing the thing from a shoulder, across the body like a baldric. It looked like the horn had been made into a vial for some sort of cordial.

She reached out and picked it up.

She was immediately teleported halfway around the world, to where members of the Paladins were being wounded and killed…that fateful encounter with Doctor Umbros that left half the team dead. More of the team would have been dead, if it had not been for the healing powers of the Alicorn. She was, of course, recruited immediately.

Dana is about 5’6”, light brunette, slim and cute, in a pert kind of way. She wears a loose white medieval style tunic with a gold belt, and skintight white leggings. Her boots are knee high, folded over at the top, and are also white leather, laced with gold. She wears the Alicorn in the manner described above.

The Troubleseeker flaw on her teleport power causes the Alicorn to grab her and her team and teleport them to major crises around the world. This is much more inconvenient than helpful, as it doesn’t wait and ask permission, and sometimes grabs the Green Knight without his armor, just as an example.

Note that while the Healing of the Alicorn is persistent, and the Alicorn can bring life to the dead, Resurrection does not always work. It depends on many factors, and evil magic can impede the Alicorn’s powers.

The Alicorn’s Curse can only be used against people the Alicorn has healed, who then persist in evil deeds or in attacking the wielder.

“Did you think it had no price? Did you think it was harmless? Tame? If you betray the alicorn, remember: it holds within it all the wounds it has healed, all the poisons it has cured. If you turn to evil after accepting the gift of the alicorn, you reap harsh reward:
millennia of torment and death, all at once.“

Hyperia is an immortal Amazon, a princess of the House of Hippolyta. Her mother was an outcast, made so for the crime of loving a man…even if that man was a God. Nonetheless, Hyperia was raised in luxury, in the islands of Greece, because the power of her father, Helios, is not to be sneered at, even now. When she reached adulthood, she ventured forth, in order to find challenges worthy of her mettle, and prove herself as a warrior…hopefully to gain acceptance by the Amazons. Note that she is only about 50 years old, and has only been in the outside world for a few years.

She has joined the Paladins because they seem to be worthy companions, and because, although she came to Neopolis first, she couldn’t stand being on the same team as that …wench, Megin, daughter of Thor. (Megin can’t stand her either.)

Hyperia is a classic paragon, blessed by her lineage with strength, flight, invulnerability, and eye blasts. She also, it should be noted, has a rivalry with Melhora, of the Portuguese team, Panteao.

Hyperia wears a classic greek chiton, hanging from her right shoulder. The cloth is golden, gathered at the waist by a red cord. The skirt is only thigh length. She also wears golden cross gartered sandals. She’s about 5’8”, 126 lbs, and does not have a particularly muscular build. She could actually be much stronger, if she would actually put some effort into working out. She relies almost entirely upon the strength of her divine heritage.

She’s been thinking of wearing a white leotard and blue cape, but thus far has been dissuaded.

Hyperia seems pretty cool, but you just can't beat Megin. None of that Greek haughtiness. ;)

Plus, Megin's a redhead. Can't HELP but like her better.

It's the Betty and Veronica dynamic. The more friction, the more fun.

I also dig how Hyperia can sort of be used as a daughter of two of the DC Trinity, all grown up (or maybe A-Ko, who's essentially the same thing).

Wonderful universe you have.
