-Oh, Hobgoblin. The A-List Spider-Man villain that never was. Let this character be a lesson, kids; never set up a massive "Who is he?" storyline with a character that lasts for years. Because if you suddenly leave the title, the mystery ends up solved by commitee. Poor Hobgoblin had a couple YEARS of build-up leading to his big revelation, when they casually were forced to reveal that Ned Leeds (who WAS DEAD at this time, I must mention) was the villain all along. Yup, a dead man was revealed as the villain, everyone went 'oh well', and then they had to make a new character out of the ether (Jason Macendale) to replace him, becoming a C-level Spider-Man villain. YEARS later, however, in recent times, Roderick Kingsley, one of the initial 'usual suspects', was revealed as the mastermind behind the whole thing after all, admitting the whole Ned Leeds thing was a facade. But really, twenty years later, the damage was done, and we now had the ORIGINAL Goblin back anyways, so what was the point? A character lost for the ages.
-Hobgoblin (Cripes that's a hard word to spell when typing) stats up much like a lesser Norman Osborn. Skills leading to manipulation more than scientific genius, the same powers, but slightly less accurate, and far fewer Feats. But he's still a balanced PL 10 madman with tons of abilities and dangerous powers.
