*AIM* Hero High game looking for players

Postby Sapphire87 » Tue Jul 22, 2008 4:51 pm

Hey! I'm currently looking for players who want to play a Hero High based game. The current plans are to have it done over AIM chat (Note: Not AOL).

I'm looking to start whenever I get a few more interested people. We can decide on a day/time when I find some interest.

I'm fairly new at GMing, so this will be an experience. My current idea is this:

Set in Modern Age and I'd like to use the Claremont layout for the school, but this isn't Freedom City. Going with more of a Paragon setting, where powers are pretty recent, the oldest public heroes are only from the Bronze-- maybe the Silver age... and super heroes are still not widely accepted.

My version of Claremont has a mysterious background, it is unknown where its fundings come from, or who even started the academy, only that it has been hiding in plain sight. Its cover mission is this: "Claremont Academy aims to take children from all walks of life and change them into valuable citizens of the world of tomorrow!" Until recent years this meant just preparing its students to blend into the mundane world, but recently with the rise of crime and the appearance of powered villains it has been left up to the students, teachers and alumni of Claremont to clean up their city.

~~~~~~
I'm cheezy and really get into the writing and background, I know. I'd like students to start at PL 8/ 120pp. You can create a newbie or bring in a student who's already been there at Claremont, we'd be picking up on a new year (my excuse as to why people may not know each other) All kinds of characters are welcome, so long as you can explain them being in a world like this. I don't mind if they come from another earth or another planet entirely.
If you're interested in playing I'd like to get everyone online tonite. I'll be on around 5pm EST and stay online till about 11pm EST. I'd like people to submit their rough character outlines, or whole sheets if they have them.
Keep in mind please, this is a hero high game so there will be room to gain skills, feats and powers/power level ups. AS such your character doesn't have to have many, or any of these at the start of the game.
I'm going to run terms as follows: 4 sessions=1 term. Every "Term" you choose classes that your character 'attends' these classes can be almost anything depending on what skills, feats or powers you want to work on. The basics, Art, math, science, english, PE language, computers et. cetera.
As well as off the wall ideas such as History of Magic. You'll have to OK the course, and which stats they will effect with me but I'm a creative person try me.
I'm working on a Wiki to post transcripts of our games, character sheets & histories as well as my writings on the history of my version of Freedom City.
I'm totally into this idea. I toyed with the idea of writing a webcomic based off of a teen hero team (Like Teen Titans, only cooler). I've got some concept characters left over from those that I'll put together and see what I can do.
I'll be there but just a heads up, I'll be a tad distracted after 9pm. Tonight's my World of Warcrack guild's Kara run.
My character concept is a sort of cross between the Mystical Artisan variant of the Gadgeteer in Instant Superheros and the Mystical Weapon Master, also a variant from IS.
Count me in on this, I've been looking for a teen superhero game after reading Hero High. My AIM is pwn1337z. I've got a character written up for it too, I'll post his sheet here.
Alpha:
PL - 8 (120 pp)
Abilities - Str: 21*/16 (+5/+3) Dex: 14 (+2) Con: 12 (+1) Int: 14 (+2) Wis: 10 Cha: 16 (+3)
Skills: Bluff 6 (+13), Concentration 6 (+6), Intimidate 4 (+7), Notice 4 (+4), Perform - Acting 4 (+7), Sense Motive 4 (+4), Stealth 4 (+6)
Feats: All-out Attack, Defensive Attack, Elusive Target, Improved Block, Power Attack, Takedown Attack, Attack Focus (Melee) 2, Teamwork 2, Taunt, Attractive 1, Beginner’s Luck
Powers:
Enhanced Ability [Strength] [5]
Super Strength [3]
Strike [3] (Mighty, Penetrating 1)
Life Control [8] - Nauseate 8 AP: Boost 5 (Any trait one at a time, others only), Healing 8, Drain 8 (Any trait at one time, Distracting), Stun 8
Protection [5]
Combat: Attack +6 (+8 melee) [Unarmed: 5/3 dmg, Strike: 8 dmg] Defense 18 (13 flat-footed), Initiative +2
Saves: Toughness +6/+1, Fortitude +4, Reflex +4, Will +4
Abilities 22 + Skills 8 + Feats 13 + Powers 40 + Combat 28 + Saves 9 = 120pp
Basic Concept: Josh Rivers was an average pre-teen before a seemingly harmless prank by his friends gave him the A-Vola virus. The A-Vola virus has only been found in large apes, and it was said to give those afflicted with it additional strength coupled with a vastly shortened life expectancy. What the doctors didn't expect was this was a mutated strain of the virus, and it granted Josh the additional strength along with control over the life essence that helps make up the soul. A fortune teller he went to see trained him in the art of combat and inner-essence control, but their training was cut short due to Josh's parents moving out of state. Knowing their son may die at the tender age of 25, due to the A-Vola virus, they sent him to Claremont Academy so he can get the best education possible.
His goal for his shortened life is to make a significant difference and help make the lives of others better and safer before the tendrils of fate take him off the Earth. He keeps his origin a secret and does his best to live in the moment and make every day count.
OP, I sent you a few of my character concept ideas. I can build them in pretty much no time flat, some are already built at PL 10, so it would be nothing to scale them back and readjust things.
Schattenbolt, I need your AIM screen name.
Also, I'd like to push this issue, powers, alternate worlds, planes, aliens and other like aren't 'public' in my Freedom City... yet. This will be a breakthrough in my storyline. (Yeah, the high level government knows, thats about all)
HOWEVER! I'm not leaving you all high and dry. Powers of most people on my earth are small, (really, paragons is a good read for this, though I'm not following the paragon world to the T) but there are some who have more, also consider things like Alien studying at Claremont, Alternate Earth and Temporal shifts (Time Travel) Also Fae creature origin (from the imagera *not sure I'm spelling that right* realm, its in Paragons)
I'd like characters to start with room for improvement, after all every 4 games there will be the opportunity to gain attributes in several areas (I'm limiting it to 5 "classes" per term)
Each character has to take a class pertinent to their power/ability
the other 4 classes are whatever you want to gain ranks, skill, ability in.
So a magic user could have a schedule like:
Magic: Alchemy
P.E: Swimming
History: Ancient history of the Fae Realm
Computers
Art: Creating and Understanding Runes
So, logically at the end of the term the student could
~gain a rank of Magic, an AP of their Magic skill or an Extra.
~Learn to Swim, or gain ranks in an established Swimming skill
~Acquire "Knowledge: Ancient History of the Fae Realm"
~Learn to use computers, or gain rank in Computers Skill
~Learn Craft: Runes
I want to be creative and fun...
I PMed you my AIM name, and I have a couple of questions on how you want me to list a couple of things.
Only cooler? I don't think that the Titans can get much cooler! Especially with Rose on their team!
I meant the cartoon Titans. I never read the comics, but saw all of the TV episodes, I really liked it, but there are a few things I'd have done differently with my comic.
Like Kori keeping her comics costume instead of the tube top and miniskirt? Or at the very least making an occasional upskirt joke at her expense?
I've got my Arachne character completed and awaiting your approval. I've got a dinner engagement tonight, but I'll try to jump on AIM afterwards. Might be around 10:00 pm Eastern time, though. If you have any contact information that you can give me, shoot me a PM. I'm still very interested in doing this.
I sent my AIM info through PM, as I am interested in playing but am still a newbie when it comes to MnM (though I have all the books and have pretty much every other game out there)
If anyone else wants to contact me, I can be reached on AIM at "ambivreso"
