Der Bergkristall was born Jonas Vogt, in 1989, in Munchen, Bavaria. He was an unremarkable child. Perhaps a little distant. He went to school, played with friends…the things kids did. Until he turned 7 years old, and the horror began. Over the space of six months, little Jonas’ body slowly crystallized, changing (painfully) from a human body, perhaps a touch too thin, into a humanoid form made entirely of rock crystals…in, admittedly, a bewildering and eyecatching array of colors. The doctors, and his family, were helpless to halt the progression, and finally, little Jonas broke free of the restraints they had placed him in (for his own protection) and ran off into the night. Ever since then, he has been part of the metahuman underground, hiding out of human sight, venturing forth only to get what he needs to survive. Treated like a monster, he has chosen to be one. He (and many of his ‘friends’) listen almost religiously to the metahuman superiority messages of Doctor Umbros and his Bretheren of Apotheosis, and aid him, worldwide, in the schemes of his Shadow Syndicate.

Jonas is 5’9”, 180 lbs, of rainbow colored rock crystal in a sharp-edged, mostly humanoid form. He can project his sharp crystals as a blast, and hye’s enormously strong and tough. Plus, hitting his edged form is somewhat self destructive.

He isn’t really a criminal…but he doesn’t have any money, and he does the ‘shopping’ for his group of metahumans…since most of them are not actually powered, so much as cursed. On a typical shopping trip, he hits several grocery stores, and pick up anything else he findfs interesting, or that someone asked for. He walks in, takes it, and walks out. He doesn’t fight unless attacked…but he very often gets in fights with the Polizei…as they object to his extensive shoplifting…and he ignores them when they try to arrest them. He has gone toe to toe with die Eiche a number of times…he can’t understand why die Eiche helps the norms, and die Eiche can’t understand why he won’t try to work within the system.

Sabina Schmidt was born and raised in Mainz, in Rhineland-Palatinate, but ran away to Berlin when she was 13. Now she’s 16, and she has become a very accomplished pickpocket, capitalizing on her amazing manual dexterity and innocent looking face. Last month, she picked a very special pocket…and got an alien device. The device was a folded up belt with an overlarge buckle. When she put the belt on, the buckle opened, releasing dozens of small shuriken like stars. The stars proved capable of flight and very rapid movement under her mental control, while she wears the belt, and the belt itself allows her to fly. In addition, limited AI in the belt directs some of the stars in her defense at all times. In action, she’s a blurry figure, surrounded by whirring and flashing battlestars…each one razor edged and ten pointed. She has decided, with the blithe unconcern of the totally self absorbed, to use the device to make herself rich. What she doesn’t know is that the real owner of the device is looking for it…and she’s not nice at all.

Sabina is 5’6” tall, 16 years old. She’s cute, but not beautiful, and her face has a guileless look that belies her scheming mind and total lack of conscience.
She’s got light brown hair and brown eyes.

She wears street clothes, because it’s the stars that protect her, and she could care less who knows who she is.

Till (we don’t know his real name) is a certified homocidal maniac, sociopathic and hyperactive. All we know, right now, is that at some point, some force (probably fae) gave him a magical mirror, and suggested that he use the name of the German folk hero (probably to defame the trickster hero of legend). He has given indication that he was in an aylsum at the time, although he changes the story every time he tells it.

These days, Till travels throughout Austria, Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands. He offers his services as a terrorist and assassin for hire to the highest bidder, as well as committing what seem like senseless crimes on the side. He’s not averse to making a good profit…but it’s secondary to the point.

Till is 6’0”, rail thin, probably weighs 165 lbs. He’s tightly muscled, and wears bright colors in unusual combinations: most often a tactical vest, spray painted orange, a long yellow plastic raincoat (with hood), a bright blue long sleeve shirt, and white gloves and boots. He gets angry when the boots and gloves get dirty. Like when they get blood on them…which is all the time.
Till’s hair is a different color every time you see him, and so are his eyes.
The raincoat, by the way, is reversible…the other side is dark blue, for night work.

The Mirror, which he generally carries in his left hand when in use, or in his satchel otherwise, can emit a blinding flash, any number of visual only illusions, or hide him completely from normal human sight. It always makes him slightly harder to hit, and warns him of threats. As long as he possesses it, he has perfect timing…which helps in his chosen line of work. It alos keeps him linked to the Owl.

He is also accompanied by a highly trained, possibly magical owl. He just calls it Eule, and doesn’t bother getting fancy.

Saint. He’s a Barrow Irishman, born and raised in the city. He has recently declared war on the evil that infests the streets…whether it is human or supernatural. Think of him as being a vigilante in the same vein as Blade and the Punisher…but whose atttitude is based on the Boondock Saints.

Saint isn’t actually particularly highly trained. His abilities are a combination of natural talent, and apparently the hand of God. He’s certainly lucky enough.

His shades are high tech, but well within current capabilities…much of the electronics are concealed in his black peacoat. And the loss of the shades loses him all of the things inside.

Saint is about 6’0”, with auburn hair and pale, lightly freckled skin. He’s muscular in an almost gaunt way. He wears black jeans, combat boots, a navy peacoat (lined with kevlar) and usually a simple black T-shirt. Two heavy pistols ride in shoulder holsters, and a shotgun and sword cross on his back.

These days, Saint often goes about with a large black dog, that he pretends is his seeing eye dog. (The dog is next…)

Cerberus is a dog. Not a guy who turns into a dog, or a guy with dog powers. He’s just a dog. Admittedly, he’s sometimes a giant three headed dog with a bark that knocks down buildings, and when he chases cars he catches them…

See, a few months ago, in Barrow, Massachusetts, a dog was walking home from the park with his family, just after nightfall. Vampires killed the family. Right down to little Ben, the dogs owner. In his rage and grief, the dog howled out for help…and the Hound of Hell answered, granting him the powers and form of the Guardian of Hell’s Gate, Cerberus.

Now, he can call on the Hound of Hell for those powers whenever evil threatens. He has no idea what the price will be…but now, he’s smart enough to know that there will be one.

In his normal form, the dog is a fairly normal big hound. In Cerberus form, he’s 6’ tall at the shoulder, has three slavering heads, glowing red eyes, and massive fangs. He’s black and tan, normally, but black and red in Cerberus form.

Recently, he’s started pretending to be a seeing eye dog for Saint…they met over a dead vampire.

I have to admit that this it the first time that I have seen a dog given PC status.

I like the background. It might make the common crook think twice before he kicks another dog or cat out of the way. You never know when Bast is looking. :roll:
