Comments: The bad man from the Khandaq himself, Black Adam. Not having read much of 52, I am not quite as big on him as a lot of folks are, but I’ve always been a fan. Plain and simple, he is built to take on super teams by himself and duke it out with Superman, Captain Marvel and the like.

The thing that gives him an advantage over a lot other top level paragons are his interaction skills. His Intimidation and Startle abilities, along with a high bluff give him lots of opportunities to catch people flat-footed and then level them with a power attack. Plus, he hits all his PL caps right off the bat since his other big advantage is that he has never had any problems using all his power, where as Superman, CM and even Wonder Woman to a degree have held back. Not Adam. He’s a bad dude.

Oh, and on his Feats, I didn't put Enhanced Feats in his powers, but for purposes of a situation where a Drain may come into effect, they would drain as powers, not feats because they part of Black Adam, not Theo Adam.

Clean Up 9/28/08: Man, I loves me some Black Adam. He gets taken down to playable PP because I want to use in a chapter of my story, just for the havoc.

Tightened up his Feats and Enhanced Powers to trim the fat and I still was able to raise his strength to 50 and some of his other scores. I completely replaced the original build because...well, my first 200 builds or so really suck as I look back at them now, so most are going away...


Complete overhaul of my Marvel family mechanic as I start off Paragons R Us night. Black Adam is da bomb. He's a vicious killer, yet somehow a sympathetic figure. One of the best written characters DC has in my opinion.

Comments: Well, it had been a few weeks since I did another Superman build so I was due. Here is the Superman of Earth-69, a very formidable PL14 playable build. The reason I think this one is going to be a tough opponent is the Luck ranks I gave him to represent his “holding back” and his ability to come up with the right thing at just the right time. Considering his usual complications, he could go into a “final showdown” situation with around 10HP which should pretty much guarantee that he comes out on top against any non-cosmic characters, and maybe even against some of those.

Clean Up 3/16/08: Minor clean up. 7 ranks of Luck was a bit much so I trimmed a couple of pumped up some skills.

Clean Up 9/28/08: Nothing major, but I wanted a new pic for him and I wanted to do my little Superman color scheme on the stats because I am anal, but apparently only about things that don't matter...


A few updates to my PL14 Superman on Paragons R Us night. This is the version I am running in my upcoming story and his fight is progressing along nicely. He's the opening and act and so far, he's performing like I had hoped. Of course, I'm probably making all kinds of mechanical mistakes, but hey, I figure if nothing else, I am consistent. :)

Comments: Icon is a hero created for the Milestone line a few years ago by Dwayne McDuffie. He is a standard paragon archetype whose power levels are close to Superman. He, Static and some other members of the Milestone line will be making their way back into the main DC continuity soon so I thought I’d whip him up.

The Black Superman comments are pretty well founded, but personality wise, he is a lot more like Mr. Majestic or really Hawkman, I think. He's very conservative and matter of fact and not afraid to use his powers in situations where Superman would try to talk it out. In addition to his standard paragon set, he has enhanced perception and the ability to shoot Positron energy from his hands so he has decent ranged abilities as well. I need to add him to my Brotherhood...

Comments: A PL14 PC version of Wonder Woman. I had a version of her at PL13 since I hoping to run my Earth-69 universe at just a slightly lower level than what I have my characters built in my main Earth-217 universe. But just I changed my mind about Diana and I wanted to have her at the level that I generally consider her at.

One thing about her that I kept different about my other paragons is that I did not deconstruct Super-Speed with her, mainly so she could get Rapid Attack and also because I have seen her move fast, but not Superman fast. But that could have just been the books I've read, but I've read a ton of JLA with her in it, so I stand by my assessment.

More Superman universe stuff hits the shelves. Here is my first run at Kal-L, the Earth-Two Superman and one of the main characters in The Infinite Crisis arc in the DC Universe. Of course you can read more about him Wikipedia or other sites, but to sum up, DC used the Crisis on Infinite Earths to clean up their continuity issues back in the late 80’s, and in that, they got rid of Earth-Two where he, Power Girl and several other characters that are in the main DC Continuity came from. There’s much more to the story but the reason I reference it is because of the running debate we’ve had here at Roll Call about the Drawbacks for those Earth-Two, and other Earth’s Kryptonians since their universes were “eliminated”.

Here is my theory on that; I don’t buy it. Universes, dead characters and all kinds of stuff come back in the comics all the time. They got rid of the DC Multiverse during the first Crisis and brought it back during this last Crisis and God knows what they’re going to do during this Final Crisis (other than off Nightwing and some other big names, which is a mistake, but so be it). There will be someone, somewhere that has some Earth-Two Kryptonite or some semblance of it and that chance, in my mind, allows for a decent drawback.

And explain to me how all the other elements in the other universe seem to be the same (everyone can breath the same in the multiverse Earth's, H2O is H2O, there's a Speed Force, there's a Quantum Field for Captain Atom/Monarch to access, Etc.) but somehow Kryptonite is a completely different element that ONLY affects Kryptonians from that universe? Please. I cut the drawback points from 12 to 6 from Kal-El to Kal-L and I don’t think it’s a massive reach. If you were playing this character and the GM says something about it, send them to me and I’ll set them straight. :)

However, if they don’t buy all the Drawbacks, kill off a rank of Flight, the DAP Cold Control: Weaken, and you should be OK since Red Sun radiation still affects them as does magic and 2pp for those is definitely fair.

Clean Up 9/27/08: A few tweaks to Kal-L to bring him in line with other playable paragons.


My playable Kal-L gets a tweak on Paragons R Us Night as well. I am re-reading Infinite Crisis (because I am broke and have no money for new TBPs at the moment...) and I am impressed again with their take on him.

And since he is dead, can you imagine him with a Black Power Ring in Blackest Night next year?!?!?!? I'm tellin' ya, if they mess that arc up, DC has to clean house and start over!

Improvisation is a optional variation of luck, so that he can only use these Improvisation points for cancelling the fatigue of performing power stunts. Second Wind, for cancelling the fatigue aspect of hero points.

Comments: My playable (if you are lucky enough to get into a PL16 game) version of Superman of Kingdom Come/Earth-22. As stated before, if you are a comic fan and have never read Kingdom Come READ IT SOON. 2nd best comic ever after The Watchmen in my opinion. Anyway, since DC is now hyping their new Multiverse, he has now shown up in the new Justice Society book (which is really good, I need to add it back to pull list) so he is currently interacting with the heroes of the main continuity.

This Superman is at the height of his powers. He’s stronger than ever and has even evolved past his vulnerability to Kryptonite. His real weakness right now is his struggle to reconnect with his humanity, which is chronicled in Kingdom Come. As such, I lowered his Wisdom, Inspire and Luck feats, along with his interaction skills to compensate. He’s still the greatest hero, but not quite as pristine as he is in the main continuity or on some of the other Earths.

Clean Up 9/27/08: A tweak to my playable Earth-22 Superman since I going through paragons again. My change is the shirt to Perception range Heat Vision and shifting his Defense down and his Toughness Save up to +22. I think that's a better representation of him.


A tweak to my playable Earth-22 Superman on Paragons R Us night. He's even more formidable now, I think, with the higher Toughness. The more I test, the more I think Toughness save is more important than defense, especially for paragons and bricks.

Is there ny reason he's got a weakness to Kryptonite listed? I wouldn't know if he's exhibiting it now though, I haven't read the recent story arc the Kingdom Come characters appeared in.

Yep, there's a reason...same template as the other Supermen and I forgot to take that off... :oops:

great paragons there Thorp! at first i was wondering why you gave Black Adam a higher strength than Superman...but then i realized Superman's the one always holding back where as Adam has NEVER held back...

Excatamundo. And it's been stated several times because of that, Black Adam is considering the strongest metahuman on Earth. If a do a full out build of him, he'll probably have somewhere around 54-56 Str since my NPC build of Superman is at 50 and my upcoming NPC Captain Marvel and Shazam (Freddy Freeman) will be right about that 50 range as well.
