TERPSICHORE (Power Level 8)

Real Name: Felicity Venizelos
Height / Weight: 6’0” / 138 lbs.

Physical Appearance: Felicity is a tall young woman with an olive complexion. She wears lean muscle on her slender frame and walks with a very graceful gait that only hints at her exceptional agility.

Described by those who know her as “high maintenance”, Felicity is seldom seen without her hair curled so that her wheat-blonde hair spills onto her shoulders in waves, nor is she seen without the artful skill she employs in plying her makeup or without her well manicured finger-and toenails sporting some sort of intricate design that fluctuates each time she finds herself bored.

Her uniform is reminiscent of that of a cheerleader’s: sleeveless and forming a short skirt. Her shoulder-high gloves are fingerless and thigh-high boots sport open toes, allowing her to showcase the artistic efforts she puts into her nails.

Biography: Born the daughter of one of the ten vice-presidents of Greece’s Court of Cassation, Felicity never wanted for anything in life; all that she needed was provided to her. Still, her parents were fortunate in that such an upbringing did not result in the girl coming up spoilt. She was given small chores around the house to earn an allowance and taught that saving would be the only means to earn the amenities she sought.

As Felicity transitioned into her teen years she found herself fascinated by her father’s work and often pleaded with him to take her with him so that she could absorb the legal world. She was learning all she could in the hopes of one day becoming a lawyer and such plans were almost upset by the revelation that her mother was a Neo-Sapien.

The woman had kept such a fact secret from her family but such secrets came out when Felicity’s father notices that the days where she was present, lawyers were particularly more on the ball. Men who ordinarily performed moderately and fresh-faced attorneys with no experience displayed uncanny insight and ability uncharacteristic. Even Vice-President Venizelos found himself able to recite obscure legal precedents he had not thought of since his days in school decades before.

Though it took him months to figure out the cause of such phenomena, he eventually realized his daughter’s presence was the key.

Alerted to her abilities, Felicity found herself unable to duplicate the effect ordinarily. It was only when she gyrated that she could provide the inspiring epiphanies that she had been bestowing upon the legal system.

Terrified of what would happen to his career if it became known that his daughter’s Neo-Sapien powers at all influenced criminal cases, Felicity was sent to study abroad at the New Vindicators Academy of Europe…

NEW VINDICATORS: Sic Semper Tyrannis – When the Trials began, Paragon was given the opportunity to select three others to join him. While he chose Backlash and Kiln for their abilities and their ability to function well together, he took Terpsichore because of her appearance and seeing the escapade as a chance to sexually dominate her.

Indeed, during the Fourth Trial he divided their group up – sending Backlash and Kiln to one side of the island while taking Terpsichore with him. Ultimately, his attempts to force her on another girl were interrupted by the arrival of several students from the New Vindicators Academy of Asia. A battle began with Paragon ultimately fleeing...

Their team advanced and Terpsichore found herself paired off against Hitchhiker in the first round of the Final Trial. She forfeited the match not only before it could begin but before the equally inept-for-combat Hitchhiker could resign as well.

After graduation, this young woman left to study abroad in America. She hides her ability to boost the Neo-Sapien abilities of others while studying law at Harvard.

NEW VINDICATORS: Condemnant Quod Non Intellegunt – During the mayhem created by Geist, the specter teleported the students into the Wreck Room, one-by-one, dropping them into a battle with the team Paragon led during the Trials: Backlash, Kiln and Terpsichore. Ultimately, the group proved to be little challenge for Pandora Filash and Lloyd Hilton – effectively handling all four themselves.

MUTT (Power Level 8)

Real Name: Alf Beraja
Height / Weight: 5’5” / 148 lbs.

First Appearance: New Vindicators #13

Physical Description: Mutt is short and his stockiness is largely due to his Neo-Sapien powers providing him with increased bulk. Another effect of his powers, Mutt sports fang-like teeth and golden eyes, a facet of his abilities that unsettles most anyone he encounters.

Mutt’s torso is extremely hairy – a fact revealed thanks to his uniform’s lack of sleeves. The same coarse black hair that adorns his head spreads over his shoulders and runs down his arms.

Biography: Little is known of Mutt’s life prior to his graduating from the New Vindicators Academy of Asia.

NEW VINDICATORS: Sic Semper Tyrannis – When Iris was given command of a team during the Trials she picked Arthropod, Mutt and Split – ultimately defaulting the role of leadership to Mutt through the course of the exercise. Though the bossy Brunei guided the cadre of heroes to the Final Trial, he realized he wasn’t cut out for leadership and abandoned such ambitions.

In the Final Trial he drew Kunai as an opponent. When the girl lacked offensive ability to put the endurable dog down, she traded places with her twin sister – a ploy Mutt saw through and got her disqualified for.

As Mutt advanced to the next round he found himself against Drake, Brass and Rumble. He saw himself with no chance of putting down Rumble and thought to team up with Drake long enough to take Brass out of the picture. His vicious attack permanently scarred Brass’ face and in response Drake turned on his would-be teammate – putting down Mutt before bowing out himself.

NEW VINDICATORS: Et Spe – When Saya and Orbit arrived in Tokyo, warning the New Vindicators of Asia of the coming threat, Mutt was among those who readied himself for the coming battle.

Ultimately though he found himself running from the first battle he encountered, abandoning Loess to Paragon’s mercies in favor of an opponent he felt he could take. He soon found himself facing Forneus, a Nephilim with the ability to evade the senses. Soon Tripper joined the battle but Mutt’s rashness caused Forneus to severely injure her.

It wasn’t long before Kiln arrived with Backlash, similarly attacked. The two made a shelter and Mutt left on his own, seeking out someone who might be able to heal the heroes. He came across Forneus again – now accompanied by Bune and Sitri. However, Mutt was not alone either; joined by Arthropod, the heroes were able to end Forneus and see Bune escape, leaving them with Sitri’s healing powers to restore the fallen.

Biography: Michael was the son of Doctors James and Lola Mae Hawpe; James a linguist and Lola a scholar of ancient history. Lola was also at one point the Aurelia, a position she surrendered for a normal life.

All that changed in 1926 when Naomi Brewington (the woman who would later become known as Crusader) appeared, asking for help in stopping the transaction of several Golden Apples.

Joining them for this expedition was Joseph McAllister (that period’s Chronos Aeon), Hermes and a hunter known simply as Willoughby. Ultimately, Willoughby revealed himself as the man who had stolen the apples from Shambhala with the intent to sell the immortality they bestowed to the rich and powerful. When he lost possession of the apples he manipulated the Thule Society into aiding their retrieval – knowing that his abilities would not be enough to take the castle.

Ultimately he killed all of their group save for Naomi and Michael and in his attempts to rectify such a situation the supply of apples was destroyed save one – which Michael ate.

The apple granted Michael more than the immortality the legendary gods claimed: it turned him into a living mountain.

Unsure what to do with the mentally deficient god, Naomi Brewington and Hermes opted to condemn both Bulwark and Willoughby to Tartarus, the prison for immortals.

NEW VINDICATORS: Ex Ante – At some point the two managed to escape the prison. Little of Bulwark's life is known from this period, save that Willoughby taught him to read and fight. Given Willoughby’s ability to cut through the impervious flesh Bulwark had gained, it was no mystery how the hunter kept the youth subdued. At some point Bulwark was taught the martial art of sambo and unleashed into underground arenas where enslaved SPBs slugged it out.

Bulwark won many bouts for Willoughby before he finally went down. Upon learning that Willoughby had wagered everything he owned on the bout, Bulwark threw the fight – forcing Willoughby to exchange everything he possessed (including Bulwark) to Mister Warning, an Esper of considerable power.

Warning began employing Bulwark as a bouncer at his private club, ensuring that nothing ever disrupted the easy-going atmosphere the man’s euphoric telepathy could generate.

When the New Vindicators Academy first opened its doors Coach Crag brought Bulwark to the attention of the faculty. Along with the other aged members of the Vindicators IV, Coach Crag raided the club and liberated Bulwark for the first time in years. The heroes moved to recruit him to their school, mistaking his immaturity as a sign of his true age.

Giving them the name Connor Crete, Bulwark became a perpetual sophomore – never advancing academically but enjoying remaining in one place. Over time Doctor Natalie Styles used the other odd traits in Connor’s personality to diagnose him with Asperger’s Syndrome.

NEW VINDICATORS: Absit Omen – Though his mental condition worried most of the faculty, Bulwark’s powers made him a prime candidate for the New Vindicators squadrons and he was put on Frostbite’s original squad, along with Oscillator, Renewal and Tinnitus. Renewal and Tinnitus were eventually demoted but Oscillator and Bulwark remained on Frostbite’s team through its many changes.

For instance, at one point I had the pleasure of playing with him in a 2E D&D game where Bob ran two characters. He would actually argue with himself (in two distinct voices) and even started rolling dice to try and kill himself.

In my M&M games Bob has taken on the role of the most hated character in the New Vindicators narrative, Magnus Loder - the fourth Lodestone. He's also responsible for some of the most loved characters, such as Thuggy Thuggerton. He's also the brains behind Fey, Saya, Boson, Suicide King... there's a reason he's got more character credits to his name than any other player: he can handle it.

Now, finally, one of his most celebrated characters makes his appearance in Roll Call, commemorating his origin's telling in Story Hour.

Thanks for helping making these campaigns so much fun, Desero. I don't know where I'd be without you.

First, there was a problem in Bulwark's math and he had an unspent four skill ranks. Those are factored in now, giving him six ranks in Knowledge (popular culture), which his infintessimal knowledge of all things Henson falls under.

Second, as a house rule we allow Eidetic Memory to provide a +4 bonus on Knowledge checks, so in game Bulwark's got a +10 bonus to rolls where he's trying to recall anything about the Muppets.

As for why Bulwark has an Eidetic Memory... it's Asperger's disease.

Talk about a plethora of Originality! :lol: Once i started reading some of these characters, and understanding the background for it. This looks like a pretty cool setting.

First Appearance: New Vindicators #40

Physical Description: Cimejas is a short man with skin the color of dark bronze. His eyes and hair are as dark as his soul. His build is lean and he appears frail when compared to other Nephilim resurrected from ancient times.

Biography: Little is known of Cimejas’ past save that prior to being imprisoned on Atlantis he took possession of Odin’s body and used the Æsirian to destroy Hyperborea.

NEW VINDICATORS: Para Bellum – Resurrected by Apocatastasis’ application of Emmanuel Nikolaos’ Neo-Sapien abilities, Cimejas found himself ordered to take possession of Lodestone’s body and attack the Vindicators who had come to save the hero.

He appeared before Loess, Frostbite and Jetstream and soon left Lodestone’s body for Loess’. In the end the battle came down to Lodestone, stabbing the possessed Loess with Mithral and forcing Cimejas out. Lodestone allowed him to live, provided the Nephilim took a message to Apocatastasis: “I quit.”

NEW VINDICATORS: Et Spe – It was Rumble who next encountered Cimejas and in her body he moved to go after her friends. This was a fact learnt by Blanche Gareth and the woman employed such knowledge in her manipulation of Lodestone’s dreams.

In the dream world, Lodestone first encountered Cimejas at the scene of a terrible massacre. Utilizing Rumble’s strength, Cimejas had killed Brass, Melody, Saya and Split. The arrival of Iris nullified Rumble’s abilities and Cimejas fled the encounter.

The Nephilim soon partnered with Loess in taking down Frostbite. During their struggle Cimejas vacated Rumble’s body for Loess, to heal her, then returned to Rumble’s form. The pair continued on after killing Frostbite, finding Lodestone’s group and splitting them up.

After burying Falkenburg alive, Loess engaged Chienne in battle while Cimejas proceeded to deal with the others. Ultimately, Lodestone was forced to kill Rumble but was unable to stop Cimejas from entering Anomaly’s body.

The arrival of Phobos put an end to Cimejas (and Anomaly) during the nightmare, though in reality Cimejas was still in control of Rumble’s actions and moving against Brass and Melody’s group. Ultimately he took control of Odin and began to ravage the heroes.

So far Captain Ultra has displayed a wide array of powers. He regularly displays his uncanny strength and ability to fly. Some powers are rarely seen (such as his Mind Reading) and others are only mentioned by either he or his brother (such as X-Ray Vision and Super-Speed).

The fun thing is that Captain Ultra (or “Ted” to Stan) is actually an immature bully who’s thoughts generally consist of little beyond getting drunk, getting laid and… well, that’s about it. Selfish and juvenile, the rest of the world fails to see beyond the outer shell he displays for the public.
