I still don't know how they managed to make SEVEN of these bloody films, considering they completely fell apart by the third.

They couldn't quite figure out how to say 'No' without their resident office linebacker finding out. . . 8)

"Alright, people, let's go! MOVE IT, MOVE IT, MOVE IT!!"

-Lt. Harris is the fall guy/loser boss character of the movies, basically designed to be the hard-assed drill seargeant who is nonetheless incompetent, cowardly, weak and obnoxious, and is therefore the butt of nearly every joke the main characters can come up with. His "Move it! Move it! Move it!" is pretty famous, as is "Maaahoneeeyyyyyy!!!" thanks to the all-encompassing nature of the series and the fact that everyone's watched at least one or two of the films, so he's pretty iconic as far as 'crappy boss characters' go. He's usually accompanied by equally useless fall-guy Proctor, or the dipstick 'good' recruits in the first movie, and 'leads' the Police Academy recruits at all times thanks to a Mr. Feeney-esque plot device that always sees him promoted to just a bit in charge of them.
-Lt. Harris is pretty much the most useless Academy character, being wimpy, stupid, cowardly and uncharismatic around everybody. He's a half-decent Drill Instructor with his Intimidate, but it doesn't really work well on anyone with a decent Will Save (it mainly intimidates the fat recruits & Hooks), and he's worse in combat than nearly every other cop in the series, needing to be saved constantly.

Abilities: 24 / Skills: 48--12 / Feats: 13 / Powers: 0 / Saves: 6 / Combat: 20 (75)

-Callahan was a pretty funny character in the first movie, being the uber-babe drill instructor who was still terrifying and violent. This made her the resident Ms. Fanservice of the series, but also led to some of the better gags (the wet t-shirt in the pool where she recommends someone 'save her' as part of training... leading to every male officer on the force jumping into the water at once and chasing her out of the pool). In the TV series, she was paired up with similarly high-strung Tackleberry, so it was kinda weird when they both hooked up with others in the movie series, but she was always a bit of a minor character there.
-Callahan's one of the most competent police officers on the force, without any major flaws or weaknesses, and is one of the few (along with Mahoney) who could likely be played almost straight as background officers in a campaign. She's a bit of a Combat Goddess for a low-leveller, having Power Attack and a few Throw-based Feats in there.

Okay, that's it for Police Academy (any other character hasn't been in it enough for a Build, and Cmdt. Lassard is just an incompetent do-nothing and doesn't really need stats)! Now onto my next set, which is one I've been meaning to do for AGES! I mean, when I initially gave people their pick to vote for of which set of builds I'd do next, this was one, alongside the Titans, Avengers & Batman: TAS! And that was a WHILE ago.

It's much easier now that more issues have been released as well- it's time to do some "Invincible" comics, and stick my nose into the Image universe, one I'm really not overly familiar with otherwise.

Loved those Police Academy builds, Jabroni. Loved those movies in college.

And out of respect for bringing back some memories of my salad days, I will enable your selective memory and say, "I'm sorry, Jabroni, I must have been mistaken, there really was no third TMNT movie."

You know your recent posts have given me a rather bizarre idea for the most 80s crossover I can conceive - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles meets Police Academy.

(If you can think up an even more 80s crossover don't hesitate to suggest one!)

-Obviously, I'll start out the Invincible builds with Mark Grayson himself. As the main character, he's obviously had the most to do, starting out as a young newbie hero and learning the ropes with his dad, then the massive "Wham Episode" featuring (spoilers here, because really, you can hardly describe the series at ANY length these days without at least spoiling this bit) his dad revealing that he's been a sleeper agent, meaning to knock over the Earth for his masters after all this time. The resulting battle leads to a whole new era, with more friends gained, friends killed, and other mass-murder and mayhem in one of the bloodiest series I've EVER read. Writer Robert Kirkman and artist Ryan Ottley REALLY REALLY love blood, gore, brain-splattering and violence, and it shows. Now, I'm pretty far outside the "Mortal Kombat" era of my childhood, so I don't get my rocks off on that anymore, but they certainly are fans of showing just how messy comic books fights could be without 'no-kill physics' in place.
-So Mark is a very combat-focused hero, lacking alot of the Skills normally necessary for a solo hero. It makes sense, though- he's skipped out on school to a huge degree to focus on world-saving, he's diplomatic but no master at any social skills, relatively easy to fool, even by those closest to him, and he hasn't any real technical skills. Figuring out his PL throughout the eras (because yes, there are differing levels- this series takes a LOT from Dragon Ball Z in the way that he hero grows in strength over time) is kinda tough, but I just settled on a fairly low-accuracy guy who's a monster-powerhouse. By #60, Mark is capable of tearing a building apart with his bare hands, but he's no martial artist. And apparently he can't really use his super-speed to hit people dozens of times, because he's never done it, ever.
-The issue of Regeneration in my opinion comes up because the series has one of the largest cases of "Hero Battle Damage" I've ever seen, and it's established that they recover real fast. Hell, one Viltrumite has his guts torn out, and it's implied he survives. So he has the Regrowth Feat, with a couple ranks of Disabled recovery to fix that up. With his Con score and Recovery Bonus, he usually can take a beating. Note that he has to Impervious Toughness, unlike many other bricks, because he ALWAYS takes Battle Damage, often bleeding from more minor threats as well.
-All things considered, Mark is pretty much just a Flying Brick of high power, especially later on in the series, kept in check PL-wise by relatively low accuracy. He's good enough too, that 90% of his villains roster hasn't a hope against him in combat: He's pummelled the second-string villain squad senseless numerous times, and it took DOZENS of super-strong Mauler Twins clones to threaten his life.

-As much as I love the Invincible series, it has some flaws. Minor flaws, but flaws all the same. Guys like Bulletproof, f'rinstance. Here's a guy who takes up space in the universe, despite existing solely to use a potential costume & nickname for Mark Grayson before they settled on some good ones. He's got little personality (like alot of supporting "Invincible" cast members), a generic costume and a REALLY generic power set. I mean, in a world where the MAIN HERO, his dad, and their whole race are Flying Bricks, as well as two other significant super-heroes on Earth, he's a Flying Brick. Like... lame.
-Bulletproof is basically as tough as an Intermediate Mark Grayson, being bulletproof (well, duh, it's in his name), strong, fast and all that, but lacking many Skills or Feats (notably Power Attack, as he rarely goes full-on against most opponents and isn't depicted as even that good at fighting). So he's a PL 10 with a PL 9's point expenditure because of his limitations (ie. he's not seen enough to have a lot of places to spend points). He's not AS strong as Mark at most points, but he's no doubt very tough- the "Invincible Invasion" of 16 alternate Marks features him as one of the few conscious, able heroes, despite MISSING A HAND.

-Edit: So with the revelation in the "Handbook" that he's actually a Kinetic-Energy Absorber, he gets shifted around a bit. Alot of those bios are speculation by non-Kirkman writers, but I figure it makes sense, PLUS makes Bulletproof something OTHER than the 900th generic Flying Brick in the Invincible U. He's still a Flying Brick, but he's got his own little thing. Note that one of his extras is limited to when he's wearing his costume, which also provides some additional protection against his Weakness- non-fast moving attacks.

-Dupli-Kate is one of Kirkman's horrible pun names, put around a fairly interesting side character. Really, Kate's basically a giant slut who bounced from guy to guy, regular causing cheating (helped Rex cheat on Eve, and cheated on Rex with Immortal), but seems to have stuck with The Immortal for now. What she sees in one of the uglier and more unpleasant non-villains in the Invincible Universe is anyone's guess, but needless to say, Kate's always there for Kirkman's love of "Real World Physics" in superhero battles, that being the fact that someone who can deadlift tanks can probably do a hell of a lot of damage to a normal human being. So expect to see lots of Kate Parts flying around in every battle. She's been "killed" at least once, but duplicating people are the easiest of all heroes to "bring back to life", for obvious reasons.
-Dupli-Kate, like most Duplicator types, is much lower in PL than most of her compatriots thanks to having such a game-breaking power- especially because she uses every Extra available to it- Heroic, Horde AND Survival, meaning she's almost impossible to kill, and any Kate far away from the others can become the 'main one' after they're all killed. She's also one of the few Martial Artist heroes in the Invincible U (it really needs them- not alot of variance of powers here), something I'd recommend for all Dupers to make them extra-useful and fill up points for a pretty cheap power otherwise.

Since I normally do it, here's the tally for the "Invincible" set:
The Immortal
Black Samson
Shapesmith
Mauler Twins
Omni-Man (pretty much serves as a "Generic Viltrumite" build alongside Mark)
Kid Omni-Man
Atom Eve
Rex Splode
Robot
Monster Girle
Darkwing
Allan the Alien
Battle Beast
Angstrom Levy

I'm likely forgetting a couple, since I'm away from my tally list, but this is what I remember. If the mood strikes me, I might crank out some builds of minor recurring villains like Magmaniac and that Tapeworm-chest dude. Other, non-Invincible Image characters will have to wait, since I'm unfamiliar with pretty much the entire line.

-The Mauler Twins were recurring characters (arguably his most constant villains) in Invincible, popping up every few isses with some new scientific whatsit that Mark broke up. Their whole gimmick was that a brilliant, gigantic blue scientist cloned himself, but both disagreed over whom was the clone. A later comic proved that if there WAS a definitive clone, problems occured due to arrogance and 'older brother syndrome' (so the 'clone' killed the original, then created his own clone, so disagreements could start again). Eventually, they got kinda tired (they were never really a challenge for Mark until about TWENTY of them attacked him at once), and now they're dead, thanks to Mark's kid brother Oliver. Not that Clone-based guys couldn't find a way around that.
-The Mauler's are pretty unique in that they mix mid-level Powerhouse with Scientist in their builds, but they're both pretty weak altogether. They're low-level PL 9s (PL 8.5, really), because even when Mark was Newbie Invincible, he could still whup on both of them pretty good. They're basically good scientists and good Bricks, but not REALLY good at either.

-The Shapesmith's a minor "Invincible" character, being a member of the same race as the Captain Expy for Martian Manhunter from the Global Guardians team. He showed up, impersonating an American astronaut on Mars, and quickly joined the Guardians after showing his abilities to The Immortal and the others. Since then, he's basically been portrayed as a goofy-ass, quirky character who doesn't get humans at all, and usually gets to survive all the bloody battles.
-The Shapesmith is a pretty powerful shapeshifter, able to take damage, boost his strength, attain various forms, and has been shown as very quick and always at the forefront of many battles. The upper limits of his powers are mostly unknown, but since his Martian predecessor had his brains blown out by Omni-Man in about two seconds, they're likely not THAT tough.

I felt the need to acknowledge that according to the Invincible Universe Handbooks put out by Image, Bulletproof is a Kinetic Energy Absorber who get's power boosts when struck by high-velocity damage. He's vulnerable to low velocity attacks (like crushing and strangling attacks).

Otherwise, enjoying the builds to my favorite comic series today :D

Those handbooks struck me as a bunch of "Speculative fiction" by Image writers, and not by Kirkman, so I forgot a bunch of little snippets they added. However, that's a good enough reason to separate the guy from all the other Flying Bricks. I'll modify it accordingly.

-Titan's an interesting little story in the "Invincible" comics. He was one of Mark's first victims, an easy one-punch victory that made him out to be a bit of a loser. He reappeared, however, seemingly reformed, and helped Invincible knock over the resident crime boss, a loser named Machine Head. But it turns out Titan had his own master plan, and now HE'S the "Kingpin" of the Invincible Universe, the dominant crime guy, though he apparently still owes his allegiance to an elite crime council, headed by a creepy asian dude who can turn into a giant Oriental Dragon. Unfortunately, we kind of don't get the whole story on this, since it's one of roughly 942 subplots going on in the book at one time, but it somehow manages to be more interesting to see where THIS guys that most other MAJOR plots in other books.
-Titan's not too big of a powerhouse, and I might even be over-doing it by making him a PL 9. I mean, Mark KOed him in ONE PUNCH once, and that was in his first couple appearances! But that's really just kind of the nature of the Image U- Viltrumites are like Saiyans, and could realistically be put at a level FAR beyond all the other guys and make sense, but this is a more player-friendly version. He's pretty strong and tough- but only while his "Rock Skin" is active. It crumples off of him when he's hit or hurt by something, at which point he loses his Strength as well, so he's constantly got to reactivate his body armour once it's gone.

-Magmaniac's the definition of 'side villain', a guy who would normally have a pretty cool super-villain set-up, but is nonetheless someone who needs to team up with like four other guys to even have a CHANCE at hurting the main hero. Very little is known about him.
-Alternate Forms, Energy, etc. are always fun to play with, and bounce the varying effects around. Magmaniac's a loser, but I beefed him up to pretty playable villain levels, just not at Invincible's Power Level. A lower-pointed PL 9, he's not very Skilled, and has few options in combat other than "hit the other guy", but he's still a little bit dangerous. I altered "Magma Blast" to include a Secondary Effect, since (people forget this) lava BURNS, and will likely hurt for a while after it hits.
