 Comments as per Marvel Girl, above, Carol is the character on the left.

 Slight variations to the character so that it’s not a clone of the first. Carol is the brawler, Linda is the thinker. Attack, Defense bonuses, Saves and the like are purposefully slightly different between the two.

 By my math, this is build 97 that I’ve posted here. Looking through my formatted notes I have enough to carry me on until 112, most of which have been done in the last week. Just need to determine the order to have something interesting for build 100…

 Another excuse to do a non-canon version of a character that I rather like... I found this picture several years ago and it was in fact one of the first characters I made with 2nd ED. I was never happy with it, having been way over-priced. I’m happy enough with her now to post this version.

 The character is a melded PL 6 costume adventurer and PL 6 battlesuit with the feats for Akido thrown in for good measure.

 I’ve always viewed the character of Terry as being no better than Bruce in his setting. The technology does not give him more of an edge than Bruce’s equipment. The villains are tougher, stronger and faster and Terry does what he can to keep up. Terry says it best in the pilot episode “This must have been state of the art in its day…”

 As far as background goes, Batgirl here is an unknown on the playing field, her “real” name that of Bruce’s former assistant, a fake identity used by Oracle to act as cover for Bruce as needed. (I think I’m blurring my continuities here mind you.)

 The pic is from here. The guy does awesome work.

 This starts with a Grue Metamorph. Developing on the mention that Rogue Grue can pretty much develop in any direction I decided to make my own “Meta Grue” by taking a concept from the Secret Invasion and turning this character into a Super-Skrull of sorts.

 The Shapeshift was downgraded to Morph for cost and to keep the character from being ridiculously powerful. The basis for her “set of four” is the Forever People and the powers are in a non-dynamic array solely to reduce access to them.

 Her Super-Strength is from Big Bear. From Mark Moonrider she gains the Megaton Touch which also “doubles” as the “real” Blackfire’s energy blasts. In that same part of the array is Vykin the Black’s tracking ability. I didn’t give additional telepathic abilities that Vykin would have as the Metamorph already has some base telepathy. Magnetic Control & Attract/ Repel Objects comes from Vykin as well. Finally, from Beautiful Dreamer she gains the power of illusion – I defined it down from the “real” character so that Blackfire would not be completely undefeatable.

 There is a two point power loss on the character which applies to the array of Forever People’s powers. I didn’t bother working the actual mechanic, but essentially she has to recharge those powers by exposing herself to some kind of radiation.

 She has a whack of combat feats to represent the original Blackfire’s extensive Okaraan combat training.

 I didn’t crop the picture to allow the artists signature to remain extant. The two beings in the back have no relevance to the character or my campaign.

 I’ve sort of worked this character into the Freedomverse by subbing the Lor Empire and the Grue for Kree and Skrulls. In my main Bladeverse campaign, Tamaran and the Vegan system are in a hotly contested area of space warred over by both the Kree and Skrulls. The Skrulls infiltrated Tamaran by replacing Kommand’r…

Thanks!

Looking through my builds to post something at least a little original for my 100th !

(And oddly, although I didn't crop Blackfire, I noticed that the boards did...)

 My inspiration here is a relatively obscure Superboy villain from the post Reign of the Supermen story arc in the mid 90s. I gave him a kind of Freedom City treatment in that I worked him into a mythological background. In fact, the quote is paraphrased from memory from an issue of Superboy and the Ravers where Scavvy is facing off against Hero Cruz in the form of a Hero Dial empowered being call Truth IIRC. I chose Jason for the heck of it, any number of Argonauts could have worked here but I like the idea.

 He is immune to age, but I figure that not all immortals remain eternally young even if the ravages of time have no real effect on their abilities. Essentially, the years have not been kind to good old Scavvy. The Immortality aspect is more curse than anything – he cannot give up, he cannot permit himself to die. If he gives it his all and still buys the farm, then he can die. But he cannot wilfully allow himself to be killed or commit suicide.

 In terms of a Freedom City background, I figure that most of the other Mythological Heavies are unaware of Scavvy’s true origins. Even Medea is not likely to recognize the old coot, and Jason is not likely to tell her for fear of her wrath… Some may have figured it out and choose to ignore the “secret” for whatever reason… (Such as perhaps Daedalus and Talos.)

 Build-wise, Scavvy was a World Weary Sellsword to start with aspects of the Gadgeteer archetype. Honestly nothing special. He needs gadgets to hit his caps. And in fact, he should have any gadget that the GM feels appropriate, or should be trying to get his hands on some new technology or device. Equipment points should be allocated to his standard gear as well as a suitable HQ. If you remove the Gadgets and the Equipment, he comes down to 125 points – below the original PL 9/ 135 points I intended.

 The feats not from Ultimate Power or the Core Rulebook are from Warriors and Warlocks.

 My inspiration here is obviously mythology, but the idea has been percolating for some time. In the Elseworlds mini-series, Superman/ Wonder Woman: Whom Gods Destroy the main adversaries (and allies for that matter) are steeped in Greek myth. Atalanta is on the side of the bad guys… I was re-reading a blurb from a dictionary on mythology and figured she’d make a cool speedster.

 Combining the two inspiration points, I decided to use some of Joshua Dunlow’s campaign notes for his god campaign. Although he bench marks demi-gods at PL10 and Quasi-Gods at PL8, I decided that I wanted Atalanta at PL9 and that she could be considered a Demi-Goddess.

 After deconstructing Super-Speed, I simply took Speed and an Array/ Container. I put some relatively unconventional powers in the speed array. This was actually inspired by Atalanta’s myth where even if she gave a head start, she always overtook her opponent. A convention of your average speedster I will admit, but this was fun. Here, as she catches up, she can actually slow her opponent down !

 A note on her god sphere. Her influence extends to movement and accleration, but in no way can she outstrip Hermes. I ignore the restriction on rank to the rank of the Variable Power allowing her to assign her 10 points as she sees fit. At the same time, I see the character as lacking the imagination to fully exploit her Variable Power. She will often simply add Dodge Focus, Defensive Roll, Quickness, Deflect and the like. Boosting Speed, Regenerating and those sorts of things are likely beyond her thought processes if not the definition of her ability. A player with this sort of character in my campaign could potentially gain the occasional HP for not using the VP when it could technically be applied…

 Atalanta fits into the Freedom City setting as well, given the mythological bent of many characters therein. Also considering that she is sometimes listed as an Argonaut she may be referenced in some other builds that I have planned. Putting her in the anti-Earth setting of the Freedomverse, she becomes similar to that version of Daedalus where she must outrun and slay people in order to maintain her immortality.

 I apologize for the choice of image ;). I was web-surfing for pictures of Amazons and this was the only blonde I found… heh.

 Voltron, 5 Lion version. I read the previews of Mecha & Manga... This is done without that particular book though (even though I used a previewed feat). I’m looking forward to getting Mecha and Manga and I intend to rework the build once I purchase it...

 Astute analysis of the build will note an overpayment on the Progression within the Gestalt Power. As the default assumption is two components, one rank of Progression would make for five components, but I have two ranks in Progression... I’m cheating and will explain later as I build the lions.

 Although I’m about to open myself up to really bad jokes and ridicule… I’m not entirely satisfied with the size – I think that the combined form is too short coming in at a mere three stories and change tall. Don’t know my intentions there. For now, 48 feet will be the benchmark for my mecha style builds. Either that or using a system that puts mechas such as this on a different size scale than people (which I think is even the case). A car would be medium size even though it’s larger than a person. I’ll wait to get Mecha and Manga before tweaking any further.

 I find myself asking – not because I need the points – whether or not being unable to form Voltron without all five lions merits a drawback. Considering that you need to spend power points in order to be able to form from anywhere and the default assumption is that all components are always present... it does make a certain sense. Then again, perhaps a simple complication would be better suited than a drawback. Mind you, an episode of Voltron has the Blue Lion leg separating/ falling off…

 The lions will be built on Pl 8/ 120 points per the Gestalt rank. Individual pilots will likely not pay for the Lions as devices. I foresee the characters essentially being “replaced” by the Lion that they’re piloting from a game mechanic standpoint so there’s no real need to pay for the Mechas as devices.

 I built the Lion Head attack into the same array as the Flight and Damage Arrays. There are two reasons here. Cost of the build being primary, and that the other attacks were never used at the same time as the Lion Heads. Having spent 6 points from the array still enables Voltron to fly in this build. The other vast array of powers that are used in the show are summed up by the variable descriptor feat and power stunts.

 Having said that, I put a Dynamic Mimic into the Strength Array to be able to copy the individual lions’ signature powers without spending a HP.

 My inner geek has always screamed that this thing needed to be piloted by Thundercats. Since I actually wrote campaign guidelines for a Thundercats series, I may stat a Voltron Force composed of Thundercats... (Who are we kidding here… we all know that I’m already working on them.)

 One thing about the genre though, specifically in regards to builds like this one is that I really can’t see how Voltron would make for a good game. A good comic and cartoon, yes. But I can’t see myself wanting to be playing the pilot of a leg while my buddy was controlling the actual mecha...

 Told you I cheated. When I created the Lions I knew that I would short change the Black Lion in a PL 8/ 120 build. Since the Gestalt Power lists the MAXIMUM power points and PL of the components I was inspired to turn the Black Lion into two components itself, both PL 6, 90 point builds on their own. The images of the components of the Black Lion will be described in their write-ups.

 Despite the lions being relatively similar in size in the cartoon, I’m following the toy scale in that the arms are the smallest lions, the legs are larger and the Black Lion is the largest of the group. I won’t repeat my comment on scale and size. ;)

 I put Regen/ Ressurection in that in The Third Dimension it’s shown and demonstrated that the Lions actually cannot be destroyed. All Lions and components will have this power. I felt that the Eternal extra from Warriors and Warlocks did the same but I had no where to attach the extra and went with the easier mechanic to justify/ use.

 This build does continue in the vein that the Lions replace the PC builds for the most part. Other than the Pilot Skill coming into play occasionally (and being required to even make the things function) the PCs own abilities won’t be brought to bear when inside the Lion or as a part of Voltron. By the same token, Hero Points earned by PCs as well as those earned while piloting the Lions are considered the same pool. The Gestalt itself can use the Hero Points of the individual pilots at the players’ sole discretion.

I made a few alterations to the Power Level system, and just removed the Quasi God category and combined it with Demi-God. Because they are essentially the same thing in W&W.

Power level Suggestions
Epic Heroes (8-9): Are built anywhere from power level 8 to 9. These are the hero’s of myth who have risen to great heights. Epic Heroes have not learned to manipulate cosmic forces, to manipulate reality. But they have many tricks, powers, and devices at their disposal. Though not "Gods" like what is suggested here, they can be used in such a campaign. And can achieve many of the abilities that gods do have. So they have been included as possible characters.

Demi Gods (10-11): Demi gods have risen into the ranks of pantheon either from being Epic Heroes, or from being the children of lesser gods. And are over-all accepted as having an influence in the cosmic scale of things. Demi gods can usually command one aspect of the Universe.
Lesser Gods (12-13): Lesser Gods are usually of Cosmic origin, and are the bottom rung of the god like ladder. However even an Epic could rise this high, but rarely higher. Lesser gods can usually command at least two aspects of the Universe.
Intermediate (14-15): Intermediate gods, are powerful beings, with the ability to command several areas of influence. Intermediate gods can usually control at the very least three aspects.
Greater Gods (16+): Greater gods are at the top of the Cosmic ladder, and are usually in the ones who have started the Pantheon. The can control at the very least four aspects of the universe.

And Kudo's to anyone willing to stat out Voltron by any method! Good work.

Thanks JD. Voltron was actually fun.

I actually built Atalanta before you updated your guidelines. I plan to update both her and perhaps Rehenna Amunet. Scathach will remain as is as she's mostly a conversion from Changeling.

 Full admission. The words total cop-out come to mind with this. This is essentially an indestructible statue sitting in front on the Castle of Lions (or Cat’s Lair in my personal little Geekverse.) If by some fluke there’s a means to destroy the statue without requiring a save it still reforms after the determined time.

 The other half of my Black Lion Cheat. Capable of assuming the form of stone wings and attaching itself to the Lion Statue, the command module is purely my invention for this build. A red space-faring craft most suited to recon missions.

 it is combat worthy with that DAP Blast power, but has no real ability to carry anything else other than a pilot.

 The Knowledge skills represent bonuses that the module can provide to its pilot. I could just as easily swap them into an Enhanced Skill power (Affects Others/ Pilot Only) mechanic but it achieves the same effect.

 I think I’ve said as much elsewhere, but I view powers in a Super Senses as not having a rank greater than 1. The cost of effect is treated as one rank (for instance X-Ray Vision is a 1 rank power costing 4 points) with Progression being available. It allows for some pretty extensive Super Senses combos in the array, but so long as it fits the concept I would allow it. Some extreme or envelope pushing combos might require a HP just the same though.

 For the Command Module to balance to 90 points as written, I added another drawback, other than the Key. (The Key and requires pilot are the same flaw. They are actually used interchangeably)

 The Yellow Lion is a toned down version of the Black Lion Gestalt. I left the sensors (Super Senses), Reincarnation and similar powers. The stand-out powers of the Yellow Lion are Immunity to Heat and Burrowing.

 The favoured opponent is Robeasts (of course).

 The Red and Green Lions aren’t watered down versions of the Yellow and Blue Lions save for the fact that they are slightly smaller. (See my comment in the Voltron Gestalt about the lion sizes from cartoon vs. toy.)

 In the cartoon, Pidge is the science guy and I don’t really recall him having a prominent role. As such, I more or less invented a signature power for this Lion. His pilot is going to be a forester/ ranger type and I brought that into this build with the Telelocation and Concealment abilities.

 It was at this point that I realize that I did not include the Lion Claw attacks in the Lions. However, these can best be described in the Blast power. For that matter, those funky double bladed knives that they used in Lion mode from time to time aren’t included. Spend a HP for those if they’re really needed.
