The Prismatic Warriors television show is based around the fictionalized accounts of their adventures (the very LOOSELY based on the true story kind). In general, since they're usually fighting monsters, they tend to deal rather permanently with the enemies they face. Really, Gods and Demons are impossible to "kill" like normal people anyway since they usually just go back to their other-dimensional realms. As a result, the team has a pretty lengthy history of defeated foes that don't come back.

That never seems to stop them from staying busy though.

That's what I meant: Each team had there own bad guy group to fight, and by seasons end said baddie group was broken up, wiped out, reformed, or exiled.

Of course the big guys like Orkus, PHANTOM and The Iron Khan, (and in the Crinoverse the Atomic Brain, Dr. Destroyer, SHADOW and Dr. Demonicuss) live to fight another day.

Pretty much. The Prismatic Warriors have even defeated an Entropic Master or two, albeit ones nowhere near Orkus' level. Japan takes the continuing threat of extra-dimensional and alien invasion a bit more seriously than most other places on Earth do. While it's impossible to break up their enemies into seasons (which is a television convenience), most of the teams have a pretty lengthy history of rogues that they deal with before they retire.

Of course, there's usually some carryover between teams as well. They rarely disappear from a team en masse. The only real time that happened was during Ishikawa Corp's initial bankruptcy. There was a media scandal before the original team met the ones recruited by Black Wing II and Naoko Ishikawa and declared them A-Ok.

Really, a lot of supervillains will smack themselves if they ever find out the contents of the Prismatic Warrior's vault of trophies. It's a pretty massive collection of alien artifacts, supernatural devices, and weird technology that rivals the Grigori's own. Even Naoko and Alex can't figure it out, though they still try and study it on occasion. A lot of evil doers would weep at the sheer staggering volume of bad things that are being kept out of the public's hands.

Also, for ambitious GMs who love Super Sentai, hows about The Sentai Time Capsule, which details every team since the seventies, including their vehicles and their enemies.

On the subject on Sentai -- and massive apocalyptic Sentai cross-over event/battles
This story on Bleedingcool.com points to this video --- which seems to embody the Big Event meme very well in the context of the Ultraman universe.

Not quite the Prismatic Warriors -- but I imagine their episodes wouldn't look terribly different.

-- apparently the folks who manage the Ultraman franchise do periodic big crossover events where they bring back characters from the franchise's 30 years (!) of history. And according to the article, they're smart enough to restrict such events to every couple of years to avoid the sort of Big Event Fatigue that plagues US comics.

Yeah, if it wasn't obvious, Super Robot One is explicitly a Captain Ersatz for Ultraman.

I guessed. After all, you have your sentai homage you had to have an Ultraman homage too. Now all you need is a Masked Rider homage and you have all your bases covered.

Huh - glad someone caught that. Flew right by me. I thought he was a J'onn J'onz/Red Tornado amalgam.

I may be able to console myself.

Of course, it might be possible they were lampshaded too subtly.

One more query: Will the most recent iteration of the Prism warriors be receiving a writeup in the future?

Most excellent write-up of HED! Japan Charles; My own interest in Japanese pop culture tends to be pretty minimal (Anime and manga rather leave me cold) but the setting still interests me - Though I'd much prefer to set my Indulgent Fantasy Sequence in Canada! 8)

Oh and here's a cheesy idea that occurred to me recently Charles; Why not call the second edition of Halt Evil Doer! HED!! for short? 8)

Well Crinos, I only have a pretty vaguely written outline for them. Sadly, the Book of Heroes is a couple of years off. Take note that names are printed in Western style (first name first) for simple convenience.

Prismatic Warrior Red: "The Lion of Japan." Hikaru Matsumoto feels awkward being the team leader. He's simultaneously the newest and oldest member of the team. Originally, in the 1990s, he was the hot-blooded rookiee of the team. Hikaru is now in his early thirties and is tremendously embarrassed about his earlier actions on the team. Especially since the media continually reminds him of his quotes "FOR GLORIOUS JUSTICE!" and "I DEFEND THE WORLD FROM ALL EVILS!"

Hikaru pilots an updated Lion Mecha when not in his Red Softsuit and is the quientessential ace of the team. He was brought onboard the team to replace the previous team leader, Remi Tomo, when he was killed during the Orkus Invasion. He is a better pilot than a martial artist but his leadership skills are unquestionable. The only Prismatic Warrior who doesn't get along with him is Togusa due to, ironically, how much Hikaru sees of himself in the boy.

Hikaru has a very prickly relationship with their parent corporation. No matter what, every meeting he has with its CEO and Chairman ends up in arguments. This is ironically due to the fact Hikaru still remembers Naoko Ishikawa as the Pink Prismatic Warrior. Hikaru was widowed during the Orkus Invasion and while he isn't quite ready to resume a relationship, the underlying sexual tension is a major reason for his discomfort with her. Ironically, he's quite jealous of Black Wing II who he believes is Naoko's lover.

Prismatic Warrior Black: Kamina Togusa is known as "The Falcon of Japan." He is also the most hot-headed and tempermental of the team. A legacy character, he is the son of former Parliament member Hideki Togusa, the former Black Prismatic Warrior. Unlike most legacy characters, he worked his way up through the ranks normally as a Self-Defense Force Mecha Pilot and martial arts specialist. He also is the youngest of three brothers who all tried and failed to win the position. His father's death during the Orkus Invasion has left him with a burning desire to avenge himself on Orkus. The sheer staggering balls this requires is difficult to properly put into words.

Kamina is prone to letting his emotions get the better of him in battle but he's also one of the most skilled warriors on the team. His father's earlier coaching of him gives him an advantage over everyone on the team but Prismatic Warrior Red. Kamina is openly idealistic, some would even say cheesy, in his epic pronouncements. He also feels unjustly persecuted by the team's captain, Hikaru Mashumoto.

As one of Alexander Timmon's picks, he's quite fond of the Western superhero and frequently visits with him during his Japanese trips.

Prismatic Warrior Pink: Shinobu Ishikawa is a member of an Ishikawan branch family. Growing up in considerably less grandiose circumstances than her Aunt Naoko, Shinobu early on discovered a natural aptitude for the martial arts and piloting. Serving as a secretary for the Self Defense Force, it was only sheer chance she was discovered to have scores amongst the highest in the nation. She almost didn't make the team though because her personality is shy and retiring. Certainly, she is by far the most reserved of the Prismatic Warriors.

The "Tiger of Japan" is almost impossible to dislike. Kamina is especially protective of her and only Hikaru has picked up that she's deeply attracted to him. Despite his efforts to discourage the relationship, the pair are slowly falling in love. There have been a few moments when he's been critically injured that Shinobu has dropped her nice exterior and shredded forces many times the ability of the team to face together. If she were to embrace her killing instinct, she'd probably be the most dangerous member of the team by far. Except, she wouldn't be Shinobu.

Shinobu donates most of her money from the Prismatic Warriors endorsement deals to children's charities and has set aside money for after her retirement. It is her desire to become a Vetrinarian of all things. She has a small clan of cats living at her family home in Osaka.

Prismatic Warrior Green: Hiro Yamagata is something of an embarrassment to the team. The most technically proficient of the team and capable of performing tremendous stunts as the "Wolf of Japan", he is also a bit cracked. Hiro is a massive otaku with a huge collection of mecha anime and memorabilia. He even claims he became a Prismatic Warrior to get one-of-a-kind souveneirs.

Pushing the edge of the maximum weight for a Prismatic Warrior, he looks out of place compared to his fellow svelte teammates. Hiro frequently speaks in "Tropes" and pop-culture references that make him unintelligible to anyone who doesn't spend all day in front of a television. Hiro's mecha has even been known to have snacks in it for passing the time between fights. His piloting skill is such that flying the machines is almost automatic. Despite his somewhat slovenly behavior, he is a trusted friend who saved the entire team's life during the Orkus Invasion several times.

Despite his oddball behavior, Hiro takes his job very seriously. He simply knows that his personal habits do not affect his performance. He also is the Prismatic Warrior who frequently guest stars on Japanese television and does inspirational speeches, trying to encourage children to perform better.

Prismatic Warrior Yellow: Motoko Tottori is the "Scorpion of Japan." A fabulously beautiful woman, she wears a elegant yellow and black ninja's attire when not in her regular uniform. Kidnapped by the Black Hand as a young girl, she was brought to Khanate and brainwashed into being one of their agents. Freed by Alexander Timmons, she worked for the Committee until they placed her on the Prismatic Warriors team. While only an adequate pilot, she is one of the most deadly martial artists on the planet.

Motoko has a decidedly prickly demeanor and is rather arrogant to everyone she meets. She is also prone to laughing evilly in combat, which is something that Hiro teases her about to no end. Despite this, she has a firm sense of justice and wants more than anything to destroy the various demons who abused her as a child. Motoko Tottori frequently bullies or intimidates Shinobu Ishikawa in order to try and make her stand up for herself. The result, more often, is that everyone gets mad at her.

Feel free to drop comments or suggestions, guys!

Cool, may I ask what their signature weapons are (I'd imagine Red wields a sword as tradition, while Yellow uses a whip, but not sure of the others).

I may have to write up how these guys fit into the crinoverse (And how they interact with the Mighty Miracle Guardians, who are pretty unashamedly trying to steal their look).
