That's a nice Ash. It always wierded me out that Chainsaws weren't Mighty weapons in the PHB, though- most anyone who uses one will tell you that you need to put SOME kind of force on it.

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "he's been in TOTAL Libra mode tonight, he won't have any builds on his own thread".

Well, you were almost right, but the cold/flu thing I'm fighting has let up (or the cold medicine is making me hyper) so I got a build or two in me. Check out this new item for our Archetypes aisle.

Let's see Michael Vick try to get all big and bad with these guys...

HELLHOUNDS

Comments: Always loved Hellhounds in D&D so I did my own version for my ThorpacoDresdenverse game. A little bigger and badder than what they probably should be statted as if they were being ported over from D&D, but not overpowering. A couple of them were a good challenge for my players and believe me, they haven't seen the last of them.

Comments: Sobo is the bodyguard of Charlotte Laveau, who is the missing wizard that my players have gone down to New Orleans to try and find. He watches her back and is like a big brother to her apprentice, Elle Lane, who has been helping the PCs get started on the case. He hasn't gotten too involved in things yet, but as things continue to roll along, they'll need his muscle and street savvy.

Abilities 11 + Skills 10 (40 ranks) + Feats 9 + Powers 28 + Combat 8 + Saves 15 – Drawbacks -4 = 77 / 77

Comments: Elle Lane is Charlotte Laveau’s apprentice. She's only being studying with Charlotte for a few months, but Charlotte and Sobo see a word of potential in her. I'll go into more of her backstory later, but generally, she's a good kid that has her periods of not listening like any teenager, but Charlotte truly sees her as her heir apparent as the top wizard in New Orleans.

In our game, we're generally testing the magic styles from Wizards and Warlocks and it's spelled out in the arrays. So far, it hasn't been bad and no one has blown a save yet, but that's only because they haven't been in a major tight situation yet where blowing a save is crucial. That's how gaming works, folks...

I sure hope so and I know at least one of the guys was loving it. I need to get the next part written up this week since we're hoping to play next weekend. I keep saying I am going to post the last session on Story Hour but time as been against me.

In short, the group was summoned to New Orleans to try and locate their top wizard, the above mentioned Charlotte Laveau (great, great grandaughter of the queen of New Orleans Voodoo, Marie Laveau) who has gone missing. They were supposed to meet with Elle and Sobo there, but some Hellhounds sidetracked them. They took them out, but one of the characters almost croaked (he spent all his PP on offense and neglected to buy any defense or toughness enhancements...oops...since corrected :D ).

After talking to Elle and Sobo, they went to meet with Charlotte's best friend and fellow wizard Zadrienne De Mornay and as they got to her house, she was being assaulted by some Fire Daemons (courtesy of MDSnowman). They handled them fairly easily, but a low level necromancer named Gared Lee showed up with an army of zombies and surrounded them. Zadrienne and Victor (PC) were able to get him to go away without a fight, but they found out he was looking for a powerful ancient artifact called the Amulet of Delphine LaLaurie. The amulet gives the user total control of any undead, eterntal life, and the ability to summon a powerful unnamed Outsider at that command. The search for the amulet has heated up because they are three days away from 09-09-09. Days like that give extra power which will allow whoever finds it to complete the ritual to bind the amulet to themselves, making them frighteningly powerful.

Also, there is a gang war heating up between a Yakuza boss, Mitsuyuki Yamada, and the local longtime voodoo priest/gang lord, Papa Samdi. Charlotte, Sobo and Zadrienne had a big throwdown with Yamada's crew recently and Zadrienne believes Yamada is behind Charlotte's disappearance. The party had last gotten through talking to a cop who was friend's with Zadrienne and Charlotte who directed them to New Orleans version of Special Investigations and that's where they left off.

Now I just have to figure what the heck to do next?

I'll see what I can do. I'm a Gunsmith Cats fan myself, so I should be able to write something up...

Until then, here's another Empowered Build in J-Mart format:

Image

THUG BOY
PL: 6 (90 pp) – OPL: 6; DPL: 6

ABILITIES: STR: 16 (+3) DEX: 14 (+2) CON: 16 (+3) INT: 12 (+1) WIS: 14 (+2) CHA: 14 (+2)

SKILLS: Bluff 8 (+10) [Distract, Taunt], Craft [Mechanical] 4 (+5), Gather Information 4 (+6), Knowledge [Current Events] 4 (+5), Knowledge [Technology] 4 (+5), Notice 6 (+8), Search 6 (+8), Stealth 4 (+6)

FEATS: Attack Focus [Ranged] (2), Distract [Bluff], Dodge Focus (3), Equipment (2), Evasion (1), Favored Opponent [Suprahumans] (1), Improved Aim, Improved Critical [Barrett M82] (1), Jack-of-All-Trades, Luck (2), Power Attack, Precise Shot (1), Quick Draw (2), Taunt, Ultimate Effort [Ultimate Aim]

POWERS
Barret M82 .50 cal Sniper Rifle (Device, Easy to Lose [20pp traits]; 12pp) [4]

Ballistic Blast (Extra: Penetrating, PF: Improved Range, Precise [20pp]) [6] – DC:21:tough

EQUIPMENT:
(10 ep)

Heavy Pistol (Ballistic Blast 4 [8ep]) [4] – DC:19:tough
Leather Jacket (Protection 1 [1ep]) [1]

COMBAT: Base Attack +3, Melee +3, Ranged +5, Grapple +6 [Unarmed +3 (Bruise), Barret M82 +6, 19-20 Critical (Lethal), Heavy Pistol +4 (Lethal), +1 damage against suprahumans]; Defense 18 (13 flat-footed); Init +2; Knockback -2

SAVES: Toughness +4 (+4 flat-footed), Fortitude +5, Reflex +7, Will +4

DRAWBACKS: Recurring Nightmares (common, major, DC 5 likelihood, -3)

Abilities 26 + Skills 10 (40 ranks) + Feats 20 + Powers 12 + Combat 16 + Saves 9 – Drawbacks 3 = 90pp

Notes: For those of you who haven't read the books, Thug Boy is Empowered's boyfriend, who she met during one of her (many) occasions of being tied up. Being the most polite captor she'd ever had at that point, they fell in love quite quickly, with T-Boy joining the side of good.

He's mostly a street-level character, as far as things go, but is able to go up against weaker capes thanks to his Favored Opponent feat. And even then, he usually needs to take them by surprise to do any real harm, catching them flat-footed or taking time to use his aiming feats in combonation with Power Attack.

The Recurring Nightmares complication is from Mecha and Manga, and I think it fits T-Boy perfectly. His nightmares usually come in two varieties: either he dreams about his time as a human supremacist cape-killer six years ago, or he dreams about the massacre of his friends at the hands of the homicidal fire elemental Willie Pete two years ago.
