I'm personally still giggling about Bang...man, I NEVER want to grow up! :)

I do love the ring setup, but I borrowed your previous iteration ( :?: spell check!) and I thought it was kinda hard to play. I hadn't read up on Power Reserve that much, but even after, it was a challenge (for me though, and I'm admittedly not that bright) to keep reallocating the Power Reserve PP during combat, shifting between bumping up the blast and then the force field, etc, on top of changing the APs. I love the flavor of giving each GL his own style, but I thought it was kind of difficult to play. I'll give it another shot, though.

Jabroniville wrote:Nice Rings there, man. I always find it funny that despite being one of the CORE superhuman power-sets ever, the GL Rings are nonetheless the most complicated and varied build-structures you could possibly do in nearly every game. Not only is it a huge batch of APs half the time, but it can talk to the user, detect ANYTHING, communicate with all species (and all GLs across the universe), etc. There are any number of builds shooting from 60 pp to 100 pp of the things, and nearly any of them could be argued as accurate!

The DC Heroes (MEGS) game had a custom-built power called Force Manipulation that, not surprisingly, worked very well for the rings. It's basically a variable power, though, with certain limitations.

The only thing that seems to be missing is a GL's ability to extend his Life Support (at least in space) to others within his fields. I usually just shove that into a Dynamic Array for the core powers.

I'd use the array for that. In previous iterations, I've included a Shapeable Area Life Support/Force Field, but I didn't include it for recent versions, preferring it to be a power stunt.

It's perhaps something that is setting or genre specific. In a game that replicates the GL books, it's unnecessary, since everyone is self-sufficient in space; in a game that is more like JLA or Brave and Bold, it would be an appropriate AP.

Nor I. "Omae no Tetsui ni Kugi wo Ute" has been my ringtone ever since Blazblue was released.

There are enough ranks of Power Reserve to have both Blast and Force Field at PL. The difference is when the GL wants to have more than one power in his array at full ranks, he has to sacrifice some of his Force Field's strength.

Certainly, I'll admit my NPC builds are not the most streamlined, as I have a tendency to be too detail-oriented.

Great work with the rings, I hope to see more coming. And suddely I felt the urge of rethinking my Amalgam lanterns builds.

You have some good material here. You even informed me of some details about a few of these characters that I never noticed before, like Clint Barton having hearing problems.

If you're familiar with Amalgam Comics, I'd be interested to see your takes on some of those characters.

I don't remember much from Amalgam, actually, having not read those comics since they were first published...what, 10 years ago?

Complications: Obsession (redeeming Arakune)

 Litchi was once a researcher working with Sector Seven but pursued her colleague-turned-monster, Arakune, to Kagutsuchi, where she opened a clinic. Litchi uses a combination of martial arts and Mantenbou, a rod based on the staff of the monkey king.

 Litchi has two stances when using Mantenbou. She can place Mantenbou on the ground, allowing her to attack unarmed or launching Indirect attacks from the rod’s location. She can also launch herself to the rod’s location, basically the Leaping power with the Anchor Flaw borrowed from Teleport. Most of the powers under the Mantenbou Placed stance will automatically recall the rod, shifting Litchi to the Mantenbou Recalled stance. From this stance, she can use the rod’s superior reach and power. Several of her moves in this stance will place the rod, shifting her back to Mantenbou Placed stance.

 All of Litchi’s moves refer to hands or actions from the game of mahjong.

 I came very close to making Mantenbou a minion but decided that it didn’t have sufficiently independent actions to quite warrant that treatment. Litchi can telekinetically control the rod via Lao Jiu, the miniature panda that she uses as a hair ornament. Lao Jiu somehow functions as a conduit for Litchi to manipulate seithr, the setting’s magical energy. Because Litchi can control Mantenbou, the rod is considered Hard to Lose, as it cannot be removed by a disarm.

Lao Jiu (Minion Rank 1)

Super-Senses 2 (Low-Light Vision, Scent; 2pp)

Combat: Attack +0 [+8]; Damage -5 (Unarmed); Defense +0 [+8] (+4 flat-footed); Initiative +1

Saves: Toughness +2 [-2], Fortitude +3, Reflex +4, Will +2

Drawbacks: Disability (mute; Very Common, Moderate; -4pp), Disability (no hands; Very Common, Moderate; -4pp)

The books were released in 1996 and 1997. I won't be terribly upset if you can't come up with anything.

As a less obscure request, a few Stargate characters would be nice.

First off, awesome builds, love them; second was wondering if you could do a couple builds like: Holocaust (X-Men), Electro (Spiderman), and maybe Bastion (X-Men).

Heya, Tal. Been a while since I've bothered you with a request, but your Lantern Rings got me thinking...would you consider doing a Container (or what have you) to represent the Phoenix Force? Sure, it seems to have its own fair share of power, but with the different levels of strength its owners possessed, I could see it as something capable of stacking onto already present powers, too.

So if it wound up on say, Nick Fury, he wouldn't be doing all the cool stuff any of those Grey folks find themselves able to, but he'd still have a whole new bag of tricks. I think it'd be an interesting way of applying it to existing characters and such. What do you say?

I think I could take some time to crank out a few relatively straight forward builds like those.
