God as my witness, this is a real character!

PINK PEARL (Pearl Gross)

Abilities: 26 / Skills: 28--7 / Feats: 15 / Powers: 28 / Saves: 6 / Combat: 18 (100)

-I swear I'm not making this character up. A one-shot in "Alpha Flight", she actually popped up as a random background character in the "Superia Stratagem" alongside the other female powerhouses of Marvel. She's a John Byrne joke character, a circus Fat Lady who was up to some criminal shenanigans, and she was abnormally strong and tough given her tremendous body size. Not even superpowered, she last appeared as the owner of an all-male strip club. Byrne can live with the shame of inventing a fat woman in a one-piece as an authentic comic book character.

-Surprisingly a PL 7, Pink Pearl is very strong and quite fast for her size, and can definitely take a punch (a thrown knife hit her in the chest, but didn't kill her thanks to her fat). She won't beat ANY super-hero (even New Mutant level) in a one-on-one fight, but she can absorb at least some damage and hold someone down, allowing a more powerful character to end things.

-The Executioner was originally the "Recurring Dumbass Foe" of Thor for years, being The Enchantress' easily-controlled buffoonish henchman. He shows up ALL OVER THE PLACE in the 60s stories, but his odd appearance mixed with his simplistic characterization led to a big de-push for him. In response, Marvel years later gave him a heroic send-off and face-turn. Upon being rejected by The Enchantress one final time, he allied with Thor and his Asgardian brothers, eventually holding the way for them by sacrificing his life against a demonic horde, allowing the heroes to escape. When even Hela says you're a badass, that's a good sign. His spirit has occasionally been seen since, mainly to give advice or comment on things from Valhalla.

-Skurge fought THOR of all people, time and time again, so he's at least PL 11, statting up like a high-powered Brick, who's also a Weapons Guy, meaning he's rather strong normally, but does a HELL of a lot of damage once he's got that Axe in his hands. Much less versatile than Thor all-around, but he's still a bad-ass, and enough to give any Avenger pause for a while.

Abilities: 66 / Skills: 64--16 / Feats: 17 / Powers: 100 / Saves: 10 / Combat: 20 / Drawbacks: -4 (225)

-The Enchantress is an all-star villain of Thor, repeatedly plaguing him (except for that brief "Oh so 90s" period when Mike Deodato was drawing, where she was his scantilly-clad bedmate) with her wicked feminine wiles in Marvel's more sexist era. See, she's SLUTTY, so she's EVIL. She's much more of a trickster than a front-liner, but is more than a capable villainess, and her trickeries cause no end of trouble for the good guys.

-The Enchantress is HIGHLY powerful, but not so much in the PL category. Like the comics state, she's not a spell-slinging super-powerhouse, she's just VERY capable, preferring to cast illusions & enchantments over people, and forcing others to do her muscle-work. Generally, anyone who costs 225 points is going to be dangerous no matter what, and Amora is no exception. She's more of a campaign-long threat than even a final boss, but you wouldn't want to get on her bad side.

-The Wendigo is a recurring Hulk foe who also plagues Wolverine a bit (though Todd MacFarlane's AWFUL writing on Spider-Man showed a bestial one who was a buddie of Wolvie's; and an innocent victim of misunderstanding by an area pedophile), a massive, regenerating beast that nearly evens him in sheer power. There've been various versions over the years, but most fit this standard (X-Force jobbers "Weapon: PRIME" had a lame "Yeti" character that was a 'tamed' Wendigo in a shock collar, but it lost to FERAL). Funniest thing about Wendigo I can think of was in the X-Men story where he wiped out Wolverine & Nightcrawler, Snowbird alone stopped him... by transforming into an ACTUAL Wolverine. Yeah, that's right, a REGULAR wolverine defeated a villain that easily beat up the super-heroic regenerating clawed guy. Not Claremont's finest moment.

-Wendigo's a bad-ass, a PL 10.5 monster with Regenerate, so he's unnervingly hard to actually put down and kill, despite his PL 9.5 Toughness score. He's enough to fight The Hulk alone for several rounds, losing only if Hulk full-out Rages. He's pretty cheap on account of having pathetic mental abilities (he's basically an animal that can speak his name), but he's got a TON of Feats for a Powerhouse build, mixing the Animalistic & Powerhouse Templates together to create a super-heavyweight monster.

Okay, that's it for the Villain builds for a while- I'm running out of D-Leaguers I'm familiar enough with to stat. Next up is something I've been thinking about for a good long while:

-Here's a team I've been meaning to stat up- The Rangers! Basically a grouping of the lame Southern-U.S.-based heroes, the Rangers are a bunch of stereotypes and goofy concepts, which is just perfect for statting. Word of explanation, though- when I was a kid (Grade Five, I believe), the school system would occasionally trot out some "Canada Only" comic books starring Spider-Man. They were all moral tales (written by JLU's Dwayne MacDuffie & X-Men's Scott Lobdell!) where Spidey was temporarily in Canada on assignment, and he'd end up fighting a super-villain while some kid learned an important lesson. One featured The Chameleon, another had Electro and a gang of drug-runners (that featured Electro getting defeated BY A CHILD who fired a rubber puck at his head). The most spectacular though, was the one that was given to my class after we completed our "Bicycle Safety" day at school (do schools still have those?). It had Peter Parker taking pictures at the Calgary Stampede, when it gets invaded by the Frightful Four (The Wizard, Dreadknight, The Trapster, and a newbie named Man-Bull) who try to kidnap a physicist. The Rangers are there to help, but get captured. Helping Spidey out are the RIGHT-RIDERS, a group of kids who teach & preach bicycle safety (wearing helmets- with cool early-90s reflective decals of course, pads, making sure their bikes are oiled, proper hand-signals, etc.), and a new Canadian super-hero named TURBINE, the daughter of the kidnapped physicist. Who of course is Handi-Capable! (tm) because she's in a TURBINE-POWERED WHEELCHAIR. Such awesomeness is hard to properly describe in detail, but here goes:

Awesome events:
-The Phantom Rider being defeated because he chased Dreaknight around a corner and got poked once.
-Shooting Star being outwitted by that genius, The Trapster, and captured.
-The Right-Riders defeating THE WIZARD by ducking Trapster's blast of glue.
-A pre-pubescent girl defeating The Dreadknight by smacking him with her Flying Wheelchair.
-A mini-comic insert where a kid mocks another for practicing bike safety, before immediately having his entire bike fall apart with wires & bolts spraying everywhere.

It... it was brilliant. And it's cast must be statted.

I don't know what's more embarressing. That I HAVE that comic... or that I live where it was supposed to have taken place.

Either way I think I need to go repress some memories now ;~)

What do you expect from Marvel's Jim Lee phase.. He was good, granted. But now that i look back on this, almost all women are technically drawn the same way by him.

Otherwise that's a nifty Enchantress build

-Texas Twister here is a goofy cowboy superhero who just happens to have Tornado powers. A big handlebar mustache and generic Texan accent of course accompany him in his weird cowboy uniform. He's been rarely seen since he's so inherenly from the "old school" of "Ethnic" superheroes who are stereotypes of their region, but he's nonetheless one of the most common "Tornado" based people in comics, since it's one of the least-used power-sets of elements (alongside Storm, Thor to a limited extent, my girlfriend Cyclone, and Red Tornado).

-Surprisingly, Twister isn't all that bad. A big part of that is a 250 foot TORNADO that he can summon at-will, with himself either at the centre, or powering it from far away. That thing is quite powerful, and he has a bunch of APs based off of it, from the common Deflect to various other Area Effects (Line, Shapeable) for getting in those nasty cracks. He also has a base Air Control with the Precise Feat, and a Wind Blast that isn't an Area Effect, so he can use Power Attack with impunity on it, making him rather versatile. He's only PL 7 defensively, so he's still vulnerable, and he's a bit under-Feated, but still capable.

-Shooting Star's costume is the most notable thing about her- she must be the fifth female character in comics to have some variant on the Captain America design- and they're almost all blond! Characters like American Dream, Yankee Poodle (Capt.Carrot) & Stargirl, now this one... It's a cool design, but weird. She's pretty minor (in terms of "I'd never have known she existed if not for that Free Give-Away Comic), and very under-powered, but here she is.

-Minor character, and very under-pointed, but it fits. I mean, this is a woman who was out-witted by THE TRAPSTER. That's right, PASTE POT PETE managed to pull one over on her, capturing her with ease via a sneak attack. That embarassment aside, all she is is a fairly-capable "Gun Chick", using slightly more powerful guns (though my "Right Riders" comic features "Electro-Magnetic" Guns, most bios give her "Paralyzing Shooting Stars" just like Courtney Whitmore has- a weird case of characters who don't share origins or even homages turning out with the same abilities). Vaguely Rodeo-oriented Skills & Feats, but no Power Attack. She's good at shooting regardless.

-Just had to stat up the Right-Riders as well. There's a big pack of 'em (about six, but there's likely more), with the usual archetypes you'll see in "Gang of Kids" stuff (white male leader, black kid, various girls with different hair colours). Best used to aid a superhero via distractions rather than actually fighting.

-Hah, they're PL 3! Awesome. Simple stuff, as they're small kids, not very strong, but pack mean Bikes with them, allowing them great dodging abilities. They also have several bike-themed Skills.

-There's been a HUGE number of Phantom Riders over the years (the first one in fact was named "Ghost Rider" a few years before Johnny Blaze was, but Marvel retconned the name out), mostly coming out of an unsuccessful Post-Western-Age Western comic, but a modern incarnation of the character (the original possessing his descendant) has showed up with "The Rangers" from time-to-time. His actions in "Chaos in Calgary" were unimpressive, as he chased the Dreadknight around a corner, then got whacked because the guy was waiting on the other side for him. Really.

-In fact, his showing was so unimpressive (he was trapped by a cage of paste, even though he's supposed to be insubstantial) that I'm not even sure if it was the right guy I'm using here. Course, it's just as likely the writer (hey! Scott Lobdell!) didn't even realize such a minor character had all these powers.

-Surprisingly expensive, but then, I didn't realize he had all these powers. A "Ghost"-type build with Invisibility & Insubstantial on him, in addition to magical Six-Guns, a Lasso, a Summoned Steed, as well as a VERY long-range Detect Evil power, and you've got a pretty good all-around character. However, you take him off his horse, and he's gonna be REALLY ineffective, so really, being INDOORS is a weakness for the guy. Technically, when he has his powers, it's the ancestor possessing the current guy, but I'm pretty sure the stats are the same, since he can tap the skills of the other guy presumably.

Pink Pearl? Really? She's an actual character.... Well I'll be darned, you hear about some of the strangest characters on the Think Tank. She just screams to be used in a street level game that is more... out there

-Hah. I still remember the time my best friend phoned me up, taunting me with the information that "I know a super-hero that YOU don't know!" With barely contained glee, I responded that I was, in fact, aware of Turbine's existence, having just got the same give-away comic that HE did! This character's a pretty simple Handi-CAPABLE deal, being a young crippled girl who nonetheless is some kind of techno-genius, and when the Frightful Four kidnap her father, she dons a garish white & red racing suit and hops into a three-wheeled Flying Chair and proceeds to open a can of whoop-ass, saving the Rangers & her dad from the Four by defeating The Dreadknight with a well-placed slam. Spidey (not fooled by the 'disguise' of red goggles and a hat- though Lord knows that's not the WORST cover-up a hero's ever done) thanks her for her help, and promises to look her up next time he's in Calgary.

-Of course, that'd be the last we'd ever see of her. I mean, she showed up in one free give-away comic that only Canadian kids ever read. Though if I ever work for Marvel, I'm totally bringing her onto Alpha Flight :).

-A weak PL 6, Turbine's got some handy abilities in her Flying Wheelchair Device, but she's mainly only good for sneak attacks and getting a lucky shot in, as her only offensive power is weaker than most any villain's key attack.
