Action figures mutants and masterminds.

Postby casseres2001 » Wed Jun 16, 2010 9:09 am

Good afternoon, if I have not posted in the right place I apologize, but let my doubts!
I am a collector of action figures and I wonder if there is anyone who makes these custom figures of characters from the game? 'm not talking about characters created by players, but the characters of the game universe, such as the villain atomic brain!

anyone know or know where to buy?

They don't have them. But if you want this to be a reality. Here is how to do it. Contact a sculpting company that does do those sculpts, then show them MnM, and the characters, and if interested they might contact to do a line of figures like your requesting.

Most companies are open to someone expanding their IP in that way but it really is a company to company things. If, you are the actual sculptor it is different. Make whatever you want but generally the good sculpts are created by talented, well practiced people (professional) and that costs real money to do. I doubt GR would take the initiative to do this, but partner they are probably open to doing that.

But I don't speak for them, yet in general that is how that sort of thing seems to work.

Good afternoon, I understood what you said my friend, but only one person sending an e-mail or contacting in any way, it will not take effect and the figures are not made, on ebay has several people who design action figures and it came in contact with several, some with very high prices, others more realistic, has a user who sells custom action figures, the average price of $ 25 more to make a commissioned by me, he charges $ 300! nonsense, I have conscience that this user is an artist, but if he sells it creates no orders for $ 25, why are so ordered more expensive? That is why bother, posted this comment here on the site because I am sure that many site users also want those pictures in their homes! does the green ronin is not interested in launching a line of action figures of the game?

Considering the death of the Combat Evolution and Starship Trooper lines of miniatures, both of which had a wider appeal than the M&M Home Grown Heroes, I doubt Green Ronin has any serious interest in an action figure line.

As for why customizers charge an arm and a leg, but sell some for $25, I have a few theories.

1.) They do it for fun They make their favorite heroes becuase they want to. Later on they part with with on Ebay, etc... It was a labor of love so they don't factor in Labor heavily.

2.) Your Customs Are Work While your custom heroes are fascinating to you, they usually don't inspire the customizer all that much. They start to factor in the hours of labor and materials much more seriously.

3.) They don't want to be bothered They aren't really interested spending their time working on your customs, but for a big enough price tag they'll feel motivated.

4.) They Consider Themselves A Proffessional Sculptor/Artist. Over the years I've looked gotten quotes from various artists about custom sculpting 28mm miniatures and Action Figures and the going commercial rate hovers around $300, so that's what they ask.

Look, I even understand that talent has its price, and that they actually spend hours of hard work making their action figures and actually think they have to charge high prices, but above all must know how to charge, they make such a action figure they've chosen is the same thing to make one I chose, the uncia difference who is chosen, then the choice was the artist, their work is worth only $ 25 and if I choose his work is worth 300 U.S. dollars?, I think a wrong way to value own talent! since the artist sells the piece, the choice of the character made by him or me!

But once you create that custom sculpt you own it and can mass produce it as your paying for the Green normally from which molds are made. In other words, it does take time and effort to sculpt, and no not anyone can do it but many can learn to do it with a lot of practice. It is a learned, practiced skill combined with artistic natural talent. It is time consuming and takes material to do it.

yet, people who make them generally do so to then make copies and sell them, not to make a single one.

The best then is to learn to do and start earning a few dollars!
