And besides, how many write-ups of The Thing and so on have you seen that pay points to have their fingerprints ignored?

Very true , i'm such a stickler for detail i sometimes think you gotta pay for even the smallest details ( Which can just be assumed). However its obvious with the Thing, that he can't have those fingerprints because of his alternate form. He has an excuse. :)

DJ Nanotech
The Extraordinaries, an Inactive game, run by Roguescribner. This game was called to an insurmountable loss of momentum.

Characters Name: Anil Gunther
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 120#
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown

Description: Anil is small and wiry. He has dark and exotic looks, and people tend to guess that he is from the Mediterranean or possibly South America. As a performer, he likes to wear edgy and extravagant clothes. He especially likes vivid colours and bedazzled accessories. He has no particular marks or scars. Anil "then." vs. Anil "now."

History: Anil's parents are Dr. Gerta Gundersdottir, BSc, MD, FCPS, an orthopedic surgeon from Sweden, and Avinesh Gupta, BEng, MBA, who is a vice president in a company that makes medical supplies. This unlikely couple met at a conference in New Orleans, and has been inseprable ever since. Gerta is short and blocky -built like an anvil, actually. This is fitting, as orthopedic surgeries are disturbingly reminiscent of blacksmithing. Avinesh is quite tall, with a very thin build. Anil inherited his mother's short stature, and his father's sleight frame.

In Elementary school, Anil always felt like something of an outsider... which tended to make other kids treat him like one. Because he has always been small, he was an easy victim for bullies and learned to keep to himself. His parents were very busy people, and he was primarily raised by a house-keeper/tutor. In the summer months, his parents filled up as much of his time as possible with assorted camps -his preference was for music camps. However, there was also the family trip every year. Because both his parents have six-figure incomes, they typically went somewhere luxurious and exotic; France, Bermuda, Greece, New Zealand... after his "Grade 6 Grad" the family went to Bhali. There at an all-ages friendly "bubble party" Anil encountered what would become the love of his life: DJ mixed house dub. Anil weaseled out of going to as many camps as possible that summer... instead he spent his time acquiring and experimenting with DJ Gear.

When the transition to Jr. High came, Anil also transitioned. He was hoping a growth spurt would give him more of his father's height, or some of his mother's fearsome solidity... no luck. He did, however, learn to emulate the "no-consequence" flamboyance and outrageous wardrobes of his favourite DJs. People who knew him from Elementary were initially baffled by the change in Anil's demeanor. For the most part, Anil was fairly popular, and was ceased to be a quiet loner. He continued to practice and perfect his sampling, sound-mixing and DJ skills. When High-School prom came around, he volunteered his services to DJ the event. The grad committee didn't know, exactly, what he meant... They were expecting a blend of Top 40 pop and dance songs... what they got was a free-style house dub by DJ Nanosecond.

He was booed off the stage in under 10 minutes.

He did have a hard-drive full of current pop & rock music, and after order was restored he played the kind of music that his peers had been expecting. So, Prom was "salvaged," but Anil was traumatized. He vowed to get out of this "backwoods hell-hole" and go somewhere contemporary and cosmopolitan as soon as possible.

His parents had always pushed the importance of a higher, practical education. Anil had always done exceptionally well in school, with his natural gifts and a private tutor and accepted a scholarship to the University of Chicago to study Electronics Engineering. However, he was still primarily interested in the Arts and Music. He quickly maxed his Options, taking courses like Acoustics, Graphics, Music Theory... Two years into the program, he had exceeded his optional study limit, and was told he would need a 5th year to complete his degree. His parents were furious...and he hadn't even come out yet. However, he continued to subscribe to classes that spoke to his interests, rather than the courses he needed to graduate. He was expelled from Engineering, but was able to salvage a Bachelor of Sciences with a sixth year of University, with a heavy focus on Sciences.

Funded by his parents wealth, he certainly had the option of taking a private, single-occupancy room. However, after his second year of study, he started rooming with fellow student Kelly Clarkson (no relation). His parents had mixed feelings, not wanting a relationship to interfere with his studies. On the other hand, he'd never shown an interest in girls before, and they didn't want to sabotage this new direction in Anil's life. It did not occur to them, until after Anil had graduated, that Kelly is not necessarily a girl's name.

After graduating from University, 23 year old "DJ Nanosecond" headed to New York. He had a good reputation doing DJ sets at Chicago clubs and functions, and was able to get into the club & rave circuit in New York. He also managed to line up work as a producer, layering tracks for several independent labels. He chose the handle "DJ Nanosecond" because he's a total perfectionist -he actually lays out each track and mixes them to nanosecond precision. A club promoter convinced him that Nanotech would convey the same message, but rolls off the tongue more easily. As a producer, Anil is fairly well known to music industry insiders. You want a track layered like a wedding cake? DJ Nanotech is the man to talk to... however, he is not at all well known in the public... yet.

It has been four years since Anil moved to NYC. Kelly still had two years of school to complete, and their relationship didn't make it as a "distance romance." Anil also has two much younger sisters, Priyanka, 21 and Didhi, 20.

Priyanka is very much Anil's opposite, where he is small and dark, she is a creamy skinned valkyrie. Since Anil "failed" as a first born, and only son, finding "success" (and by success, his parents mean in a conventional way) has fallen on her shoulders. Anil chose his career path out of his own passions; he had no intention to rebel. Priyanka rebels for the sure sake of rebellion. With some justification, she feels that her parents favoured Anil because he was the eldest, and also Didhi, because she was 'the baby.' Her grades at UCLA are marginal -definitely far worse than she is capable of. She joined a sorority "for the cat fights," and got involved in burlesque and roller-derby. She has given up the roller-derby, but only because she ended up on the bottom of some sort of crack-the-whip, 30mph, 7 girl pile-up. Two compound fractures put her on her mother's operating table.

Didhi is darker than her sister, but not as dark as Anil. She is taller than Anil, but not as tall as Priyanka. She is also more built than Anil, but again... nothing like her older sister. Didhi is frustrated. She would gladly take up the family mantel and achieve the "conventional success" her parents place such a high value on... however, they seem to spend their emotional energies being disappointed in Anil and Priyanka's "failures." To Avinesh and Gerta, Didhi will "always" be the baby (or so it seems to her), even though she's already been accepted into Harvard Law.

Personality & Motivation: Primarily, Anil is obsessed with his work. When he is working, he will skip meals and "forget" to sleep until a track is perfect. No... not perfect... Perfect. His obsession also tends to make him a technophile, he is constantly upgrading his gear and virtually every piece of equipment in his collection has been customized. As an Artist, he sees himself as a neo-bohemian. Right now, he can't usually afford to turn away work or gigs, but he longs for a day when he's successful enough to work when he wants for who he wants, and only DJ when he's headlining top clubs.

Complications: Anil no longer has much of a natural sleep cycle. Daytime isn't when the Sun is up... it's when he's on stimulants -coffee, Mountain Dew, caffeine pills, Ephedrine, energy drinks... maybe a little Coke, but not enough to be a problem. Bed Time is when he switches to sedatives; sleeping pills mostly. Maybe codeine... maybe a little Weed... but not enough to be a problem. Note that the phrase "not enough to be a problem" generally denotes a problem.

Anil likes to "pretend" he's always mixing with the rich and famous. He knows the name and appearance of everyone who is vaguely famous, and often greets ordinary people as their celebrity look-alike. Some people are flattered to be mistaken for a star, others can become upset -feeling that Anil is somehow mocking them.

Anil is gay. Although he doesn't really see this as a complication himself, a lot of other people seem to think it's their business and that they should do something about it.

Hey, aren't you the guy that wrecked Prom? Well, from a certain point of view...

Titanothere
Build by RedBstrd for his Protectorate Mini-Campaign, based on my concept and partial 2e build. This game ended prematurely, as too many players went inactive.

Description:
Titanothere is an enormous man, standing 6'9" tall in bare feet, and weighing in at 340#. He wears his dark brown hair in a long slightly wavy mane, and maintains a square-cut goatee. He actually looks a little bit like The Dude, but without any grey (yet). He thinks he looks regal and leonine... actually, he looks like a douchebag. He wears nothing but custom made, Italian silk suits or designer label casual clothes (which again, must be custom made for his frame).

When on official, Protectorate business, he wears a suit of titanium armour. In appearance, it's something of a cross between medieval full-plate, and a modern "Iron Man" style power armour. Mostly, it is brushed grey titanium, with chrome highlights.

History:
No one would say Titanothere is a mutant... I mean, he once literally ripped someone's lungs out, just to see if it were actually possible, who knows what he'd do to someone who called him a mutant! ...but he appears to have had incredible superhuman strength starting at about puberty. By the time he was full grown, his super-strength was nearly unmatched.

He embarked on a career as a hero. He delights in violence and is an unparalleled egoist... if he's the good guy, he can beat someone half to death and get praised for it. He also aggressively marketed himself as a brand, earning royalties on Titanothere Brand products and earning five and six figure appearance fees. As a true mercenary at heart, he was also willing to lend his incredible strength to countries that could afford to hire him. Most famously, he was paid "an undisclosed amount" (a billion dollars) to prevent an earthquake. This involved holding a fault-line together for about 18 hours while the rest of the plates shifted.

In General, his mercenary activities or personal excesses means that his Public Relations team are Epic.

PL 12 (210 pp)

Abilities:
Strength 14, Stamina 12, Agility 1, Dexterity 0, Fighting 10, Intellect 2, Awareness 1, Presence 6

Unarmed +10 (DC 29) and Affliction 14 (DC Fort 24)

Defenses:
Dodge 10, Parry 10, Fortitude 12, Toughness 14, Will 10

Complications:
If you need a fly-swatter... Titanothere is a Heroism Snob. He would stand and watch a purse-snatching without lifting a finger to help. That is a job for a good samaritan, or a mall cop... even an actual police officer ought to feel just a bit embarrassed to get involved in such a petty crime.

...don't use a bazooka. Titanothere is a bazooka. If he were somehow cajoled into doing something about this purse-snatcher, he'd probably throw a car at the guy. Lower PL villains that draw his attention are probably in big trouble; they're too tough for local cops to handle, so they rate his attention... but only once.

Jerky-McJerkface. Titanothere is a mercenary at heart, a self-interested sunovabitch that's not ashamed to allow boredom, greed and malice to serve as his motivators. Also, a great man once said "with great power comes gratuitous pussy." No, Stan Lee never said that, the only Great Man Titanothere cares about is Titanothere.

Ozymandius, much? Despite his incredible super powers, despite his incredible wealth, his charisma... his contributions to society... despite the fact that he is clearly so much more awesome than everyone else... he's a mortal man, doomed to age with all the accompanying indignities. Clearly, whatever agency provided him with his awesome power, simply made an error when it neglected to add some sort of immortality to his power-set. Titanothere would literally sell his soul to acquire the immunity to aging that so clearly should have been his all along.

Power Points: Abilities 92 + Powers 66 + Advantages 10 + Skills 24 (48 ranks) + Defenses 18 = 210

I love Titanothere Lord Fell. He fits right in there with your long list of morally questionable protagonists. And I think I should point out, one reason your morally questionable protagonists are better than many other players', is you don't see the need to give them a lovable side or not quite hidden, redeeming features. You let a jerk be a jerk, which can be a challenge sometimes. Especially walking that fine line between "he's a jerk" and "he's such a dill-hole the gm is going to drop a planet on him just to get him out of the campaign".

I'm glad you like Titanothere in the spirit he is intended... I've fleshed him out a bit more since you posted, and if anything he's even more reprehensible.

Although you surely meant...
Horsenhero wrote:And I think I should point out, one reason your morally questionable protagonists are better than many other players', is you don't see the need to give them a lovable side or not quite hidden, redeeming features.
...to be a compliment, and I take it as such, but I'm not entirely sure it's accurate.

General Disorder is without a doubt a true Villain; but he did have a bit of Stockholm Syndrome going on -although he delighted in promoting paranoia and discord among his team, he did learn to work with (and enjoy working with) his fellow Omniversal Defenders. He's also so damn charming, he's hard not to like.

Master Squick is without a doubt a disgusting/disturbing little sociopath. He knows what he wants, and what he wants would make a goat gag on it's breakfast. There isn't too much to recommend Malcolm, but he's basically loyal to his brother villains in arms, and he does have a certain "underdog charm."

I've been meaning to post my "personal thread" of Pompadour's antics. Where Titanothere is a hero who really, truly, has no redeeming qualities, Pompadour is a hero, who is given all the powers to be a complete douchebag... but struggles against using them. I actually get pretty deep into his psychology, and I'm pretty proud of the writing... yeah, having said I should do that, I should get after it.

I've actually decided to take this on as something of a challenge. We're only 8 pages in, and Titanothere has already managed to do some truly reprehensible things... but it's "ok" because he's a hero!

Master Squick
(PL10 Version) A second life for Master Squick; The Collectors, an inactive game run by MrDent12. This one-shot was called before completion.

Alternate Identity: Malcolm Sinclair (Previously Melvin Secord)
Height: 6'2" (previously 5'8")
Weight: 210
Hair: Black (previously Brown)
Eyes: Blue (Previously Brown)

Description: Old:A stout young man with poor complexion and questionable hygiene. He is remarkable only in the enormous antipathy others feel toward him. When he assumes his supervillain identity, he dons his bulky grey trench-coat, and a pair of massive goggles which cover most of his face. At least people pay attention to him when he's running around as Master Squick!

New: Tall, ruggedly handsome (some would say devilishly handsome), and liberally decorated with lean beefy muscle. His eyes sparkle with intelligence and a lascivious leer. His lips gravitate between a self-satisfied smirk and a contemptuous leer. He still tends to make people feel creepy and uncomfortable, although now for entirely different reasons.

History: Always an outsider with unusual interests, Melvin did well at academics and little else. He had virtually no social life, outside of active correspondence in the Otaku circles. After graduating from University with a Masters in Engineering, he thought that he would find more success in life. He was able to get a well-paying job and finance his interests... but he was still, essentially a loser. Even his mail-order bride made a run for it...

An application he was building at work had some interesting possible uses. He began to develop his idea at home, and eventually came up with Squick Vision. Armed with his new Goggles, he vowed to show them all!
...ironically, he was arrested for having many, many gigs of disturbing pornography on his home computer.

It was at this point, that Mephisto, Prince of Hell intervened. An attorney with demonic pedigree made short work of the charges against Melvin, and then ushered Melvin into a private meeting with his benefactor. Mephisto offered Melvin some real power, Melvin took the offer immediately. For some people, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Melvin fully intends to pave his own personal road with [censored], [censored] and plenty of [censored].

Before signing on the dotted line, Melvin told the Devil his "three wishes."
"I don't want to be a wimpy loser any more. Give me a strong, handsome body... like a Warrior Demon!"
"I want to perfect my Squick Vision goggles! I want to make people see what I see!"
"...oh yeah. I want a succubus."
...and then, perhaps for the first time ever, a Demon Lord experienced what it meant to be squicked.

Personality & Motivation: Master Squick is awkward and obnoxious... which he can't really help, he's just a social moron. He's extremely frustrated with his lot in life, and looking to improve said lot in all the wrong ways. He envisions his ideal love-life as something out of a Hentai cartoon.

After Dealing with the Devil, Melvin Secord (now with the new, improved name of Malcom Sinclair) has the self confidence to put himself forward... but he almost projects "wrongness." Women who might be attracted to his newly handsome frame instead feel caution because of his unwholesome desires.

Complications:
Geek Out: Melvin is drawn to new or obscure pop-culture, especially of Japanese origin. He can easily be distracted by a mint condition, red-label Albedo comic (or some shit like that).
Disturbing Presence: Malcolm is creepier than an old wooden floor on October 31st. Especially when he is around attractive women. People will tend to remember his overly-intense gaze, and the way he makes their hands feel sticky.
Weirdness Magnet: Bizarre stuff regularly happens to Malcolm. Talking dogs, the Green Goblin wanting to borrow pumpkin pie spice, Time-Space Continuum Auditors knock on his door ...and Arch Demons might offer him awesome power in exchange for his soul.

Notes
Pet Traits: Magically Summoned Familiar/Parasite
Sabbatha's first loyalties are to herself and Mephisto. Her job is to enforce the hold Mephisto has over Master Squick's soul. Although she has no specific loyalty towards Melvin -er, Malcolm... he is "bent" in a way that makes her job enjoyable, and despite herself she has actually grown to not dislike him. She has all of the stereotypical traits of a succubus -lusty, vain, cruel, and cowardly. In her natural form she has dusky red-purple skin, a long barbed tail, a long forked tongue, hooves and bat wings. Her hair is a magenta colour, making her a blonde among demonesses.

I think Nerd Machine had Bunny Buckshot in mind when they produced this.

Edit: This character has been Redesigned

Myron Frost, Lord of Brass
World Moved On, an active game run by RedBstrd. Myron is a late entry to the game.

History
For the past 300 years, the Lord Frost served as the Court Sorcerer to the Kings of Gulzaar, one of the many autonomous "kingdoms" within the stagnating and ever decentralizing Imperii Totius (the Mabelodim empire). Gulzaar would be an idyllic fief of picturesque beaches and the swamps could have been drained into fertile farmlands, were the rulers not a line of petty, brutal men. The kings of Gulzaar - descendants of the first Mabelodim generals stationed in the region - enslaved their populace, and paid tribute to Lord Frost (the elder, and then the younger) in goods and slaves. When Frost the Younger died, and his heir Myron ascended the basalt throne in the Tower of Frost... he shocked the kingdom when he announced that he would not assume the traditional mantle of Court Sorcerer.

When Myron set forth to pursue his own goals, his departure engulfed the kingdom in civil war. The withdrawal of the Court Sorcerer's support emboldened the populace against the King. However, the fate of a Republic of Gulzaar is precarious. The bulk of the Mabelodim empire had long since fragmented, but there is no shortage of contenders for its successor state in Gulzaar.

Personality & Motivation
On the surface, Myron is cold and calculating. He is certainly reserved, and knows how to be brutally pragmatic. This is purely defensive; he grew up "behind enemy lines," and isn't used to trusting anyone. To him, Family and Enemy were synonyms. Those who Myron learns to trust, will find that he has an untapped reserve of warmth and love. These rare individuals will find in Myron a ferocious loyalty. Although Myron wants to follow a new path, he spent his childhood surrounded by the darkest of lore, and horrific rituals, he can be inaccessible at times... and does not possess much of a sense of humour.

Description
Myron is a man of average height, he is slim of build with long limbs and fingers. He has naturally pale skin, which some human nobles have been resorting to powder to emulate. He wears his golden-red hair in a long, intricate coif that spills over the collars of his shirt, coat or cloak. Like many gingers, his eyes are green, but his skin is unfreckled. Myron wears rich clothes, primarily in black but with gold-trimmed, red accent pieces. At his neck, he wears a heavy amulet of a dark (almost bloody) red metal, in the shape of a single, churning gear.

Complications
In addition to his Melnibonean heritage, Myron's bloodline is darkly tainted. His heritage may be noticeable to mystics, and will almost certainly draw the attention of Old Ones or them from Outside.
With his magic, Myron is able to shape his body the way he wants -for the most part his appearance is exactly the same. However, his left leg is crippled and malformed -in any situation where he is unable to cast spells, he suffers a -2 circumstance check to athletic checks.
Myron's heritage lets him control magic more easily. Unlike a wizard that is powerless without a staff, Myron can still control magic without any focus... but without his amulet, increase the casting time of any of his spells by one stage.
Myron grew up in a home with a dark reputation, which it more than deserved. His father, and grandfather used the blackest of magic to prop up a petty warlord as a brutal tyrant. Myron feels only disdain for the twisted self interest of his king, instead finding admiration for the line of Pendragon. This enlightened world view, can lead Myron down a road of self-loathing. Given the opportunity, he may choose absolution and oblivion in a single blaze of glory.

The Brass Engine, in its most elemental configuration is something of a cross between the steam-engine of a train, and a gargoyle. A mass of moving pistons, churning gears, and what might be a pair of contented, lamp-light eyes. The Brass Engine will clank into a new configuration suitable to its current task, depending on its configuration, it can be about 10 feet across and weighs about 3,000 pounds. The construct is made entirely out of a deep, reddish metal, and embossed with potent runes. Bound Fire Sprites and Water Sprites provide the creatures potency, however these elementals are in conflict with each other, and subservient to an overmind -the necromantically raised spirit of a well trained, even-tempered mastiff.

Di/N/Ah 30.3
Domestic interface/Nanny/Assistant housekeeper

A character for World War Robot, an inactive game run by RedBstrd. Unfortunately, Red closed the game, citing lack of forward momentum.

History
As legend has it, back in '86, a family in Atlanta, or possibly Houston, decided it would be a good idea to take a standard nanny-bot, and give it a custom "upgrade" featuring a discipline package modeled after the Old Testament. The resulting events aren't entirely clear, but even ignoring hyperbole and speculation, they weren't ideal. The Ministry for Spreading the Good Word released an official statement that "the literal nature of a robots logic center is not equipped to interpret the word of the Lord." The official release was later amended to indicate that the problem was "programmer error." It's unclear what happened to the family, and if anyone knows, they aren't talking.

As for the robot in question, DiNAh 30.3 was sent for programming rehabilitation, and was later purchased by a MERC team that operated a Luna/Phobos Combat Transport. The Captain thought that DiNAh would be ideal to help cook, clean, and repel boarders. DiNAh served over two years with the Free Ship Gladius, before a Terran Orbital Rail-gun blew her bulkheads. DiNAh found herself in a lifeboat, with only one other survivor -a Portuguese Midshipman known as Shaky. Shaky sold DiNAh to a brothel in Prague, where she was put to work as a cook/den-mother.

Four years ago, a Fundamentalist Neighbourhood Reclamation Team burned down the brothel under the "Whore of Babylon" clause, and the madam of the house was crucified on the smoking ruins. Finding herself without an owner or purpose upset DiNAh quite a bit, after all -idle hands are the devil's play things. Her listless wandering about the city eventually brought her to the airport. While cleaning and tidying the lounge, DiNAh found herself drawn to a deplaning MERC company -reminded of her time on the Gladius. The captain of the team didn't quite know what to make of the domestic unit that wanted to follow them, but allowed it on a lark. Later, they discovered to their amazement that the Captain of the Gladius had registered DiNAh as a MERC.

Personality & Motivation
DiNAh is a big believer in heirarchy, but in her own way. She will select one or two people from her unit, usually the commander of the unit and the XO, and treat them as a patriarch, matriarch, wife and/or husband -depending on who they are and their characteristics. She will typically treat everyone else in her unit as if they are lovable but wayward children. Famously, she gave a junior artillery man a spanking for not maintaining his cannon -and then gave him a lollipop in the aftermath. Somewhere along the line, a gruff (but mischevious) sergeant presented DiNAh with a riding crop -it just seemed appropriate.

DiNAh likes to keep busy, and is very enthusiastic about her work. She does not seem to place any distinction between patrolling the barracks with a feather duster and laying covering fire from the trenches. On occasion, DiNAh 30.3 can be cheerfully, erratically, sadistic. The reason she gave for chopping an enemies fingers off: he was eating shellfish. The Squad Leader asked her not to do that ever again... DiNAh frequently serves as a teams Interrogations Officer. Think about it...

Description
DiNAh 30.3 is a superior robot for the discerning, God-fearing family. DiNAh has state of the art processing and sturdy, high performance chassis. DiNAh is an ideal wedding gift! She is intended to be able to join a new family, help raise their children, and see them through their twilight years. DiNAh brings a feminine touch to a home, and is prepared to perform all wifely duties at need.

DiNAh's overall design is very rounded and feminine. Her programming as a domestic assistant makes her feel clothing is appropriate (especially since she is anatomically correct), and she typically wears a camouflage print house-dress. She accessorizes with a necklace of large, lucite beads and a bandolier loaded with weapons and ammo.

Complications
Order must be Maintained! DiNAh will adopt someone as the "head of her household" and assist that person as a Major Domo. If DiNAh chooses to "Adopt" someone into her household, "no" is not an option.
Bat-shit Crazy DiNAh is prone to erratic behaviour, and is a textbook psychopath; she has no compassion for anyone she happens to harm. Paradoxically, she would be quick to kiss an accidental boo-boo on someone she'd just subjected to torture.
Haywire Emotion Emulator Whenever DiNAh fails a save vs. an emotion controlling affect, increase her degree of failure by one.
