oh yeah. a straight fight with the JLA against a weakened galactus wouldn't go well for the big guy. i bet you his herald gets a few rounds slugging it out with Superman before Manhunter realizes what's going on. as soon as he calls in the troops, the herald drops like a bad habit. a mobilized and ready JLA vs an effective PL16? It would be messy, but I think the League would eventually win.

STATURE

Postby BARON » Tue Dec 28, 2010 12:33 pm

Image

STATURE * Power Level 10

Abilities
Strength 11/1, Stamina 12/2, Agility 3, Dexterity 2, Fighting 6, Intellect 3, Awareness 2, Presence 2

Powers
Size Alteration: Array (48 points)
- Growth: Growth 10 (+10 strength, +10 stamina, -5 active defences, -10 stealth, +5 intimidation, +1 speed), continuous * 1pt
- Shrinking: Shrinking 16 (+8 active defences, +16 stealth, -8 intimidation, -2 speed), continuous, normal strength * 48pts

Skills
Athletics 5 (+16/6), Close Combat: unarmed 3 (+9), Deception 4 (+6), Expertise: high school studies 5 (+8 ), Intimidation 0 (+7/2/-6), Perception 4 (+6), Stealth 0 (-7/3/+19), Technology 7 (+10), Vehicles 2 (+4)

Advantages
Extraordinary Effort, Improved Initiative, Teamwork

Offense: initiative +7, unarmed +9 (close, Damage 11/1 depending on size)
Defense: dodge 5/10/18 (7pts), parry 5/10/18 (4pts), will 6 (4pts), fort 14/2, 12/2 toughness

totals: abilities 42, skills 15, advantages 3, powers 49, defenses 15 = 124pp

Complications:
Power Loss (Cassie’s powers are sometimes overridden by mood swings. Intense anger will cause her to grow while guilt forces her to shrink)
Relationships (nothing permanent, but poor Cass tends to bounce around a lot between boyfriends)
Secret (real name: Cassandra Lang)

ORIGIN STORY

design notes...

one gripe with mutants and masterminds; they tend to give growth characters too much credit in terms of strength and stamina. it makes lining up the game with comicdom difficult because growth guys in comics don't tend to reach those crazy levels. I mean Giant Man could go eye level with Godzilla and the Hulk can still literally rip his head off with his bare hands. oh well. Cassie comes by request (you're welcome batgirl III). I will get to the Avengers really soon, but for now this special one gets done up. She looks fun. Man was she cheap. um... offensively she hits her caps when she's big and defensively she hits her caps when she's small. Pretty basic stuff.

Woot! Thanks, Professor Haywire!

Just one question... doesn't Cassie (and the other Marvel Ant-Men) posess disproportionate strength while ant-sized? I'm reasonably certain Scott and Cassie Lang both retain the strength of their normal size in shrunken state.

(And yes, I am aware of my odd fascination for comic book heroines named Cassandra. One day, I shall have Wondergirl, Batgirl, Stature, and SG-1's Cassandra Fraiser, acting at the behest of the mythological Cassandra, all team up and set sail on the Royal Navy's HMS Cassandra to do battle with the evil duo of Lady Cassandra and Cassandra Nova!)

Complications:
Enemy (Commander Sark)
Prejudice (believing in the users has condemned Tron to the gladiator games)

ORIGIN STORY

design notes...

Tron! Yeah with the new one out I made this one. Tron comes out around the typical hollywood action guy level (8-10) and does so thanks to his disc and super sweet light bike (gosh didn't we all want one of those?). Otherwise Tron is kind of a one dimensional combat monkey. He isn't quite as smart as Flynn or as crafty. Tron's thing is being a complete bad ass in the gladiatory games. If you need something fancy done, call someone else. If you need to straight up derezz a fool, this is your man.

and yes i am currently listening to the soundtrack.

totals: abilities 62, skills 30, advantages 15, powers 0, defenses 15 = 122pp

Complications:
Phobia (ophidiophobia)
Relationship (there’s usually some leggy dame or annoying sidekick in Indy’s life giving him a hard time)
Responsibility (Indiana feels that great historical artifacts rightfully belong to the world)
Superstitious (Indiana considers it bad luck to lose his hat. Occasionally it will fall off during his adventures. Indy will want to not only retrieve it, he will want to secure it back onto his head with an assured tug. He must spend a standard action to do so.)

ORIGIN STORY

design notes..

oh yeah Indy has always been, for some reason, a build that as soon as i read a new m&m edition i begin to scheme on. here he is; the man himself. those advantages are basically perfect.

ORIGIN STORY

design notes...

although I think I got it pretty close to accurate, I still frown a bit on the cost. i like the idea of an alien being a bit closer in cost to other wild animals. it's the acid blood. and the abilities. kind of can't be helped.

ORIGIN STORY

design notes...

I think this is my first attempt at building a predator. Now... I know what you're thinking. "man this guy doesn't look very tough"... or maybe even "i've read all the AVP books. he's leaving out a,b,c,d,etc...". I could care less. I'm basing this guy off the first movie alone. In the first movie he has to work his butt off to kill a squad of mercenaries. We're talking guys who are PL6 at the most. Is he a complete bad ass? Yes. Thing is; he's also a low level setting bad ass. You have to take that into account.

ELLEN RIPLEY

Postby BARON » Wed Dec 29, 2010 5:50 pm

Image

"get away from her, you BITCH."

ELLEN RIPLEY * Power Level 8

Abilities
Strength 2, Stamina 3, Agility 3, Dexterity 4, Fighting 4, Intellect 3, Awareness 4, Presence 4

Equipment:
Modified Space Marine Assault Rifle: Array (15pts)
Assault Rifle * 15pts

Skills
Athletics 4 (+6), Expertise: spacer 4 (+7), Insight 3 (+7), Perception 7 (+11), Ranged Combat: guns 1 (+7), Stealth 4 (+7), Technology 8 (+11), Treatment 2 (+5), Vehicles 5 (+9)

Advantages

Offense: initiative +3, assault rifle +7 (ranged, Damage 5), flame thrower (cone or line area, Damage 6)
Defense: dodge 7 (4pts), parry 8 (4pts), will 10 (6pts), fort 6 (3pts), 4/3 toughness

totals: abilities 34, skills 19, advantages 15, powers 0, defenses 17 = 85pp

Complications:
Enemy (xenomorphs)
Nightmares (encounters with the Aliens haunt her in her sleep)
Prejudice (although she’s dealt with the Aliens enough to know what she’s talking about, nobody listens to Ripley until it’s too late)
Relationship (Newt)

ORIGIN STORY

design notes...

I like the idea of Ellen being an underdog. She doesn't just kick the door down and stomp bugs. No, the space marines do that (and they don't even do it well). Her thing is she survives long enough to build up hero points and then when her back is against the wall... *then* she kicks the door down and stomps bugs. You have to threaten her loved ones, kill her team, push her around, or what have you. Only then does her extreme (and i mean extreme) bad assness come out. I really like how, unlike many of her action movie peers, Ripley's fort and willpower fill her caps out.
