Affliction you have to fail by 10 to lose your powers. Sure other stuff happens with Affliction, but It seems easier to make the Opposed Check to shut someone down with Nullify.

Aaahhh OK, I get it. I hadn't even noticed that bit while scouring over the rules for both. I think I'll stick with Nullify for Scrambler-types (they touch you, and your powers go *poof*!), but guys who actively suck powers out like Parasite, it makes sense. I'll just throw a Power Loss on Scrambler for being unable to affect powers outside people's bodies so he can't turn off energy blasts by touching them, and stuff.

Complications
Fame: Public identity.

Real Name: Susan Storm Richards

Design Notes: Most of Sue’s powers are pretty similar to the powerset of a Green Lantern—force fields and force constructs. Her constructs have the additional advantage of her other power in that they can be made invisible and therefore Subtle. She has a lot of potential in a team setting, obviously, and is probably the most powerful of the Fantastic Four, even accounting for the Thing’s physical strength and the Torch’s energy powers.

I used your Sabretooth in a fight the other night, and we determined that you really have to pile on that guy to take him out of a fight.

Taliesin, if it's okay I would like to ask you a favor. I want to surprise a friend of mine at Nationstates with a conversion of his character, Ikrisia Levinile who he roleplays as. Here's the link with info on her: http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Ikrisia_Levinile

She's a vulpine, a fox-like humanoid. http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Vulpine Now, Vulpines also have fangs and claws. I would appreciate it if you could do a conversion of his character. He's been a huge help to me in assisting me with nation roleplaying, which is really different from roleplaying a single character, so I thought it would be nice to show him what his character would be like in M&M as a way of saying thank you.

Thank you and once again, SCKnight is back!

I've been busy and prioritizing freelancing work (i.e., things that have deadlines), but I think I can make one exception.

I forgot to mention that Ikrisia has a strong resistance to psychological attacks, so she might have some partial immunities to psychic attacks or something similar. Just wanted to let you know.

Yay! Finally, all four of the Fantastic Four- just in time for one of them to get killed in gaudy polybagged glory!

Ain't creative story-writing grand?

Great to have the fourth member on the thread! ... and yeah, this latest bit of necromarketing on Marvel's part is wrong on every level. Absolutely shameful. They have hinted that who ever's getting the boot won't actually die, but their coy nonsense doesn't impress me, either way.

Shouldn't she have some Move Object like powers in her Force Manipulation array? That's used often enough that it shouldn't just be a stunt.

Silly request, but I was inspired by seeing the recent Avengers cartoon...

Any chance of getting Graviton, Taliesin style? I'm thinking of trying my hand at the cartoon version, but you seem a lot more up to date on how strong he is compared to other characters in the comics. :)

Human Torch

Postby gamemaster72 » Fri Dec 24, 2010 5:42 pm

I have a question about Torch, because I'm trying to build a character that mimics his sheath.

You have him built with both the "Selective" and "Precise" advantages. I understand from 2e that "Selective" allows him to cover only parts of his body. What does Precise do for this power?

Precise allows the Torch to set his flames to specific temperatures and do other delicate tricks with it.

Plasma Form:
    Damage 5, Reaction, Selective;
    Insubstantial 3 (plasma), Precise;
    41 points

Selective for Damage because that's used for effects forcing a resistance check.
If you compare the descriptions for DCA and 2e Insubstantial, DCA Precise is the equivalent of the 2e Selective Power Feat.
Which would allow Johnny to only turn parts of himself Insubstantial, like leaving his arms flame-free. Though you do need to match that with the Selective from the Damage effect, otherwise turning his arms tangible would have no effect on whether his Damage kicks in or not.

This is a great thread, very helpful for new players to see how characters are constructed. I especially like your Magneto build, he's always been a favorite of mine.

I'm not so familiar with that aspect of Beast, are his Pheromones an activated ability, or a passive one?

You're right, I think it's passive, which means I need to buy it up to Reaction.

EDIT: Okay, made some changes to the build. Lowered the rank for Pheromones not just because of cost but because he only needs one degree of success.

Shouldn't the cost be 8pp or am I missing something?

1 base + 3 reaction + 1 perception area -2 one degree only -1 limited to Opposite Sex = 2 X 4 ranks is 8.
