I noticed something odd about your Captain Marvel build; he doesn't actually have Cosmic Awareness! He's got most of the things he can actually do with his extended cosmic awareness, but no actual CA or Benefit (Directed Inspiration). Was this on purpose?

Yeah. I broke down what he actually does and didn't think he actually needed that particular sense. There's also no Directed Inspiration in 3E as an example Benefit, and frankly, I don't think you actually need to have that benefit in order to use a HP to gain it.

Cool, just checking, as I'm working on a CM-like PC.

How about a character request then, one that'll let you flex the system a bit; THANOS! Obviously PL 16 like Darkseid (unlike many of your 3e conversions dropping a PL from 2e), but otherwise I'm interested to see how you handle the Marvel Universe's biggest cosmic threat below Galactus (usually). And actually his usual foil Adam Warlock would be fun as well... ;)

I've got Thanos mostly built. He's PL16, which is still one PL lower than my 2E build.

Psychic Bond: Immunity 1 (Psylocke’s powers); Senses 1 (Communication Link [Psylocke]) • 2 points
Super-Strength: Enhanced Strength 3, Limited to Lifting (lifting Str 18; 6,400 tons) • 3 points

Advantages
Improved Initiative, Interpose, Power Attack

Skills
Acrobatics 4 (+6), Expertise: British History and Mythology 8 (+10), Expertise: Science 8 (+10), Technology 4 (+6), Vehicles 6 (+8)

Offense
Initiative +6
Unarmed +9, Close, Damage 15

Defense
Dodge 9, Parry 9
Toughness 15 (Impervious), Fortitude 12, Will 7 / 12 (Impervious 10, mental effects)

Power Points
Abilities 96 + Powers 52 + Advantages 3 + Skills 17 + Defenses 12 = Total 180

Complications
Power Loss: Unless he wears his amplifier costume, Captain Britain gradually loses his powers (except for Psychic Bond) and his Strength and Stamina (to a minimum of 3) when away from the British Isles or their extradimensional equivalents (such as the Otherworld).
Relationships: Protective of sister, Psylocke and wife, Meggan.
Reputation: Arrogant bastard.

Real Name: Brian Braddock

Design Notes: At this point in his career, Captain Braddock is mostly a paragon with a magical power source and no ranged attack. His powers have gone through several iterations, with the most current tying his power loss to his level of self-confidence, similar to that of Gladiator.

I think that should be Removable (-5 points).

So this is an interesting issue: Herolab and the example in M&M3 HH (and Jon-L) all say that you round to the nearest 5 points when calculating the cost of Removable, even after I noted that the RAW description of Removable contradicts this.

I noticed that the Removable example in the 3e HH said dividing 98 by 5 nets you 20, but they could have made that just a bit more explicit if that's actually the intent.

Because I read "-1/-2 per 5 total" as pretty clear in that you don't round.

Yeah, I'm fine with either one, since all it does is change the breakpoints, but I'd rather one or the other be revised to be internally consistent.

Nice Captain Britain! Thanks a lot!

I wonder a bit if the current version could be said to be the "iconic" version like with the others, but Brian's fluctuated so much over the years that I'm not sure if he really has an actual iconic version... And besides with this starting point it's easy to adjust if you prefer a version where all the powers are in the costume or the like.

EDIT: And I just noticed you stuck to 15 points/PL with the good Captain, nice! I generally prefer an accurate representation rather than sticking to PC rules, but if I can have both, well that's just awesome!

Power Points
Abilities 142 + Powers 87 + Advantages 12 + Skills 38 + Defenses 18 = Total 297

Complications
Obsession: With Death.

Real Name: Thanos

Design Notes: I built Thanos with Darkseid as a comparator. Frankly, I think both of their Intellect scores should be 12 (and Brainiac’s maybe a bit higher) but that’s a change that should affect both of them. Thanos has a slightly weaker Cosmic Blast than Darkseid’s Omega Beams but he’s a bit more durable. Thanos is outside the loop of destiny (a feature shared with Adam Warlock and that I should add to Mar-Vell)--basically, his future isn’t written and he’s often a major player in cosmic events.

Thanos is missing a +2 bonus to make up the difference between Fighting 12 and the listed +14 attack bonus for the unarmed attack.

Expertise: Magic should be 12 (+20)

Cool!

Teleportation: Teleport 19 (2,000 miles), Increased Mass 2 • 1 point[/list]

Seeing as Teleport has such short ranges at the higher ranks in comparison to how it worked in 2E, shouldn't Thanos have some means of Space Travel?

I didn't include his throne or spaceship, and I'm leaving Space Travel to those vehicles.
