Just finished Side Jobs. I think it'll hold me over until Ghost Story.

It was interesting to see how quickly things went to pot in a Dresden-less Chicago.

And now and then stab, as occasion serves.

Indeed.

The first 5 chapters will be released on the site linked above once a week starting in late June. Audio of Butcher reading chapters 1-4 will also be released.

June 21: Chapter 2
June 28: Chapter 3
July 5th: Chapter 4, plus the audio for 1 and 2.
July 12th: Chapter 5, plus the audio for 3 and 4.
July 26th: Release day!

Do you mean the delay? The quality of the writing? Or the fact that Harry's actually dead?

The delay sucks.

Harry may be dead, but like all good superheroes and Terminators, he'll be back.

As much as I hate to admit it, I'd rather have a late release then a sub-par book.

Still I was very much looking forward to it coming out soon.

Oh well, what can you do?

I agree. I want the book NOW, but I'd still rather Butcher take his time to be sure it's done right, rather than have him crank it out in an unsatisfactory fashion just to meet a publishing deadline. (Now where have I heard that on this board before?)

As for Harry being dead, I agree he'll somehow be restored to life. I also think that, in some ways, this might actually be a good thing for Harry. After all, being the Winter Knight is something that lasts until you die. But if Harry has already died, than presumably the mantle of Winter Knight will have passed on, and when he comes back, he'll no longer have the obligation to Mab.

I think he's MOSTLY dead

not quite all the way dead

and I think Sanya shot him, to get him to "die" ever so briefly, and get him out of his debt to Mab and the whole being the Winter Knight thing. It's a direct approach to a problem. It's very him.

Interesting idea, but the opening chapter seems to indicate otherwise.
Unless this is all just a hallucination...

I suggest people check out the Side Jobs compilation. The last story there takes place shortly after Changes.
