Could the X-men Evolution be an alternate Ultimate X-men dimension/universe?

I was re-watching the very last episode of the series and I noticed two things:

1. Colossuses post-Aycolte outfit is the same one as he wears in Ultimate X-men.

2. Wolverine's second costume in X-men Evolution is the same one the he now wears in Ultimate X-men.

3. If you look closely, both Professor X's are drawn the same way.

4. this one is for shits and giggles-in the Ultimate X-men you can almost hear Christopher "Teal'c" Judge's voice in your head when you're reading Magneto's lines in the comic.

Is it just me or is my chai tea just getting me strange?

I think it has more to do with the apparent fact that Marvel is really going out of its way to promote its Ultimate lines. They're going all Emeril to BAM kick it up a notch...

I agree with this. I think it's all marketing.

Call me crazy (and I know some of you knuckleheads will, that's why I love it here!) but I'm betting that Marvel is trying to make the Ultimate line the main line of Marvel, and quitely phase out the regular line.

Kind of a quite, slow, cancer style Crisis on Infinite Earths instead of the nuclear explosion style that DC used to reboot their lines that had so much continuity they were drowning in it in the 80's.

It's too "adult" to be the main line of a company that very specifically targets kids. But all that says is that it's a bad idea, not that they aren't in fact thinking of it. But I think they want to be identified more with the visual feel of the movies, and if nothing else, the Ultimates lines look more like the recent movies than the standard continuity comics do.

It would be stupid to phase out mainline continuity titles. That doesn't mean "stupid" isn't what they're planning, of course.

I like the way you say it. :) But I hope they aren't. :(

A business decision that I would rate up there with the introduction of 'New Coke.'

Hopefully it will be equally sucessful, and end with the same result... :)

The rumor that Marvel's slowly phasing out everything currently 'mainstream' and phase in the entire Ultimate line as their main/flagship titles has been going around for quite some time. Quesada himself has said they're not planning on doing that -- but I tend to trust what he says about as far as I could throw Trypticon.....

But if it is true that The Ultimates has not been staying on schedual, it can't be a just solid plan to switch off. :)

So how many ranks of super-strength does it take to throw Trypticon?
