Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t been posting for a while. But I’ve been having a real bad time with HP right now.
You see, I sent my computer in to be fixed by them (I told you this already, I think), and they said it would be a 5 minute job and I’d have it back before the week was up. Before I sent it, I took said computer to Staples, and they told me to take out the Hard Drive just in case. So I called HP, and they swore that they wouldn’t touch my Hard Drive without cause and would phone me for permission before doing anything aside from fixing my Graphics Card. I felt safe, but just to be sure, I wrote them a letter telling them not to touch my Hard Drive if they enjoyed breathing without assistance.
So what do they do, you ask? About 3 weeks later (remember the part about them saying it would take a few days; yeah, I love them), my computer comes in with a note saying they needed to change the motherboard, because in this particular model, the Graphics card was attacked to it. Anyway, I plug my computer in and guess what I find; NOTHING! All my files, writing, PDF books, pictures and games where all erased! So my father talks to HP over the phone and all they do is say that we must be doing something wrong because there’s no reason for the Hard Drive to be wiped; my Dad noticed that that they where being evasive and suspected that the man on the phone saw something in his records that said otherwise. When Father said he was going to take it to Staples, the HP guy fervently tried to dissuade us, saying that it would cost us money and they weren’t professional enough. (Just so you know, Staples has never charged us for asking for their advice and they’ve always proven right).
Anyway, we take it to Staples, and find out that HP put in a new Hard Drive. A. NEW. HARD. DRIVE. So now my Dad’s trying to make HP pay for all the damages, such as replacing my Anti-virus software and Word Program, but HP’s been doing everything they can to make it difficult for us, such as refusing to return our calls and trying to blame us for it. We’ve been very nice with them up to this point, and now Dad’s talking to our lawyer and seeing if we can at least get HP to corporate. If you haven’t realized yet, do not trust HP with anything.
Right now, I have to use my brother’s computer to type, which he’s been generous enough to let me use. Hopefully, I can remember enough to type at least some of my old work.

Thank you all for your patients, Sand Fox

Which is why the last time I sent a computer into HP for warranty work I removed the HDD. They actually called me to find out where it was, and I told them it was safe with me away from their obsessive compulsive need to invade privacy and remove data for no other reason than script tells their untrained technicians to do so.

Unfortunately, despite what the script reader on the phone told you, there is a line in their warrenty that states that data is not safe on your HDD if you return it to them for any reason, and that you should back up everything before sending it into their dubious grasp.

Honestly, thats why I chosen to have a Imac... I wouldnt do it again if I had to buy a new computer (relatives give me money for birthday and christmas to conpensate for half the cost) but in the same time, I never had any problem with my computers :)

---

Glad to see you back on the forum... as I said on my last post I began to count the tumbleweeds on the forum and I had count exactly 2,875,279 before you went posting...

---

Nah, more seriously, glad to see you back!! But I do hope you will be able to get a new computer soon, sharing a computer isnt fun (my girlfriend have hers and I have mine, I so like it better this way... even if shes mostly using mine LOL)

Character Info
Real Name: Maya Remy (Possible Alias)
Identity: Secret
Gender: Female
Age: 28 (Supposedly)
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 125
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Chocolate Brown
Occupation: Mystic, Information Broker, Arcane Merchant
Bio: The woman known as the Sanguine Witch is enigmatic and secretive, much to the chagrin of those that do business with her. The Witch introduces herself as Maya Remy, though she playfully points out that this could easily be an alias. An information broker with knowledge of many secrets, Maya has given invaluable help to many mystics and investigators seeking the truth. She also has a talent for finding the hidden and lost, and provides her services in retrieving arcane artifacts and ritual compounds. However, her gifts come at a price, and it is never the same for any two people. Money does have an appeal for her, but often Maya demands oddities such as items that have emotional significance or boons. How she knows an item’s significance or why she asks for it is not clear.
The Madam Remy clearly has her hand in many questionable activities, and the items she deals in are sometimes of Grey or even Black magic, but when questioned, the Sanguine Witch points out that working with the illicit allows her to discover it’s darker secrets and expose them to the noble Mystics of the Elemental Circle, all the while making a profit.
The Sanguine Witch is a student of the nearly archaic art of Blood Magic. The recent rise of the Mystic of Taint has caused the Blood Arts to fall out of favor amongst most modernist spellcasters, as Blood Magic is particularly vulnerable to taint’s evil. However, if questioned, the Witch proudly states that her magic was passed on to her by her Mother and to her by her Mother, for over 10 generations. Her occupation as a trader of secrets may have made her conform to society’s ways, but the Sanguine Witch will never forsake her line’s proud heritage.
Unknown to many, the Sanguine Witch is the forth in a line of Arcane information brokers, having inherited it from her mother, who inherited from her father, who inherited it from his father, once the Mystic of Opal. The former Mystic of Opal learned terrible secrets about the Elemental Council, and betrayed them to the Illuminati. Then, he betrayed the Illuminati to the Council, causing great chaos and strife, which he used as cover to slip away. Ever sense then, his line has worked as information brokers, legendary for their effectiveness, secrecy, and complete loyalty only to themselves.
Recently, Maya has entered into an alliance with the Princess Moon, secretly becoming one of her inner circle. Maya is one of the few people that know her true identity as Candra Faust, and her true mission to free the Tainted Lord from his banishment. Maya finds Candra’s dualistic nature, being a loyal daughter unwilling to see her Father’s dark nature, yet acting as the servant of the Lady Moon and fighting both with and against the Mystic of Jade, to be fascinating, like a mirror of the nature of the Moon itself, and wishes to see just where this story will go. Maya has also figured out the Jade Prince’s true name, and has found him to be equally dualistic, being born of Taint yet hating it more than anything else. She plans to take advantage of this when Elan makes the mistake of giving into his taint and needs her unusual help. But for now, she just stills back and passes information along. Maya may be in it for herself, but she is loyal enough to Princess Moon to make such she knows all interesting bits of information that passes along. After all, what good is an alliance if it doesn’t go both ways?

Notes
The Sanguine Witch is a new character of mine. Designed to be a mystic that works best outside of battle, she has many interesting quarks, such as a fascination for dualistic natures and her Oath of Blood Drawback. The Witch is darn good at her job, and can provide interesting complications for players. She and give them lots of helpful hints, but could demand anything in return, from your favorite childhood toy to a boon that could turn into a mini-adventure.

The Sangine Witch has a feat that is of my own intention, Pure Blood Magic.

Pure Blood Magic
The Soul is the source of all magic and blood is the purest and truest medium of that energy. By using your own blood as an extra medium in a spell, you can channel a greater amount of your Soul Energy into your spell, making it more powerful. When casing a spell, you may deal one Bruised condition to yourself to increase its DC save by 2. However, channeling such raw power can be draining, and you must make a Will save vs. 10 + half the Spell’s Rank or be Stunned for the round. This effect activates as you are casting the spell and the spell still resolves if you are stunned. If you are disrupted while casing the spell (by and attack of opportunity, for example), you still take the bruised condition and must still make the Will Save. Also, using this feat in areas of Corruption and Taint runs the risk of causing you to gain levels of Taint, as blood is the Dark Power’s favored medium.

Disability (Tainted Madness): the Cultist’s heavy level of Taint has reduced them to partial madness. Pick a subject or thing, such as a particular color, clothing, or even scientific topic. The cultist has fixation for it, whether due to phobia, obsession, or unreasonably hatred, and will react accordingly when that subject appears before them.
Power Loss (Magic): When unable to speak or gesture.
Vulnerable: Jade is the Elemental opposite of Taint, and thusly those with Tainted Blood are extra harmed by it, taking 1.5 as much damage from Jade-based damage than normal.

Total Cost
Abilities 12 + Skills 8 (32 ranks) + Feats 7 + Powers 26 + Combat 20 + Saves 10 – Drawbacks 8 = 75/75

Trade Offs
-2 Attack/+2 Damage

Notes
This is a generic build for a minor tainted mystic. They have basic magical powers, and are dangerous to normal people. However, their Taint has driven them mad, and if a hero exploits it, the cultist can be taken care of quickly.
The Tainted Cultist has a feat of my own invention, Tainted Blood Magic.

Tainted Blood Magic

Character Info
Real Name: Ginjiro Kishan
Identity: Secret
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 149
Hair: Slivery-White
Eyes: Onyx
Occupation: Mystic, Poet
Bio: Early on, Ginjiro Kishan learned two things: one, not to disturb Mommy when she went into her study (as she liked to call her privet room), and two, never get too attached to an area, because Mommy was just as likely to announce that they were moving at a hat’s drop. But that didn’t matter. Ginjiro had his Mommy, and his Mommy loved him. That much was always certain.
The routine of moving became natural to Ginjiro. First, they’d find a new place, move in and unpack. Then, a few of the people that lived nearby would come over to great them and be friendly. But they’d quickly leave after seeing that their new neighbor was a loon, setting up strange fetishes around the house and painting eerie symbols on the wall in what looked like it could possibly be chicken blood. Not to mention, Ms. Kishan was given to fits of hysteria and strange habits such as bursting into laughter for no reason and talking off into the distance. Twice, someone had called child-protective services, wanting to take Ginjiro away from his “madwoman” Mommy, but each time, she had just smiled and asked them to talk to her in her study, and a little later on, they can out with blank eyes and left without a word.
School was terrible for Ginjiro. A bookish child of clearly mixed heritage that wore glasses and was small of stature with a crazy woman for a mother, little Ginjiro was a natural target for bullies. Having silvery-white hair sense birth did not help at all. Often, he would come home crying, saying how the kids would make fun of him and his white hair. His mommy would just smile, and take her child in her arms and rock him until all the tears where gone, telling him she loved her little, “Silver-haired Black Prince.” Ginjiro did not know quiet what that meant, but Mommy said it with love, so it must have been good.
When he was twelve, Ginjiro discovered a talent for poetry, and his mother encouraged him to pursue it. Soon, he had won a poetry competition at school, and was presented with an award. His mother attended, acting as eccentric as ever, for all his classmates to see. Afterwards, when walking home from school, several of Ginjiro’s regular bullies followed after him. Ginjiro ignored their taunts, but they persisted, making fun of his mother. Ginjiro turned around and hit the ringleader in the face, telling them to leave him alone. They responded by beating him like a sick dog.
After awhile, the gang shoved him into the dirt and kicked him around before turning to leave. Feeling an intense burning in his soul like no other feeling he had ever felt before, Ginjiro got up and shouted, as loud as he could, “DIE AND LEAVE ME ALONE!” As the words left his mouth, the blood flew from his wounds, changing into fiendish hands that chased after the boys, clawing and slashing them as they tried to flee.
Awe struck and frightened, Ginjiro ran home to tell his mother. But when he got there, he found the door open and the house ransacked. Ginjiro wandered though the house, calling for his mother. Eventually, he came to her study, and found the door was left ajar. Cautiously, the little boy opened it, and then darkness enveloped him.
Upon awaking, Ginjiro found himself in a dark room surrounded by men in black robes and demonic masks. The closest one spoke, telling him that his mother would not be coming for him and he’d best learn to obey. Ginjiro asked why he was kidnapped, the masked men explained. Introducing themselves as the Black Cable, they told him of Felix Faust, the Dark Lord of Black Magicks. The told the tail of how he had mastered the Tainted arts and created a realm of darkness, challenging the Mystics of the Elements power. And they also told the boy of how Faust was banished from this world by the collective efforts of the Elemental Mystics. Confused, Ginjiro asked what this had to do with him. Laughing, the Black Cable unveiled the truth: Ginjiro was his firstborn son!
Before Felix Faust’s banishment, the Cable had sent Ginjiro’s mother to the Tainted realm on a mission. Using magic and guile, she took the form of Faust’s wife and lay with him. The Black Cable planned for her to have Faust’s child before his wife did, so that they may control the Tainted Realm’s true heir. However, Ginjiro’s mother had a change of heart, and disappeared from life. For over a decade, the small family had evaded them, but when Ginjiro had accidentally called on his natural tainted magic, the Black Cable had finally found them. And now, they would train the true heir of the Tainted Lord to one day usurp his father.
Saying that he would do no such thing and that they were crazy, Ginjiro demanded that they tell him what they did with his mother. To which the men remained ominously silent. Ginjiro screamed for them to tell him and to let him go. Laughing, the Black Cable told him that if he wanted to leave, he’d have to step over their Tainted corpses.
5 years later, that’s exactly what Ginjiro did. Putting the Black Cable’s complex to the torch, Ginjiro then proceeded to hunt done the few remaining survivors, using the Tainted magic they taught him.
Now, Ginjiro has a new mission. Had it not been for his wrenched father, his mother would have never been forced to live the life of a vagabond and would still be alive. Ginjiro hates the man with a passion, and has vowed to bring Faust and his Tainted Empire to its knees. Then, he will stand, terrible and triumphant, and all will know despair.
A dark day is coming, heralded by a bastard prince…a Tainted prince…a black prince…an Onyx Prince.

Notes
The Onyx Prince is another interesting character concept: a Tainted sorcerer that is against Felix Faust. He’s a dark mirror of Jade Prince in several ways, which I did intentionally. While not exactly evil, the Onyx Prince is a far cry from good, and his hatred and suffering rule his actions.

The Onyx Prince has a feat and a power of my own invention, Tainted Blood Magic, and Taint Control.
Tainted Blood Magic
Taint is the greatest source of Dark Magic and blood is the easiest medium for it. By using your own blood as an extra medium in a spell, you can channel the power of Taint into your soul, empowering it for a price. When casing a spell, you may deal one Bruised condition to yourself to increase its DC save by 2. However, the tainted power you use courpuse your soul, giving you a rank in Taint. If you are disrupted while casing the spell (by and attack of opportunity, for example), you still take the bruised condition and the rank of Taint. Also, using this feat in areas of Corruption and Taint runs the risk of causing you to gain extra levels of Taint (aside from the ones normally gained), as blood is the Dark Power’s favored medium.

Taint Control
Effect: General
Ranged: Perception
Action: Standard
Duration: Sustained
Cost: 2 Points per rank
You can control the Taint in an area, reducing or raising it by 1 each turn until it reaches your total rank in this power. You can affect an area of up to a 5 foot radius per rank in this power. Any subjects in the area that are tainted must make fortitude saves or have their own taint suppressed or raised one rank each turn. Their taint cannot be raised or lowered by more than half their original level. All taint level return to normal at a rate of 1 per round if a subject moves out of the area or you stop sustaining this power.

Wow, I have to things to say hombre.

First I absolutly love thse builds. See I'm working on revising some magicians (namely those from Freedom City plus some others) and I'm struggling to make their arrays a little more themed. Your magical builds are a huge help in this work.

Second: crap. What they did to you HD was just mean (and makes me glad not to have a HP computer), I hope you'll be able to recover your datas somehow.

Bio: Early mystic history denotes Atlantis as being the first to coin the title, ‘Master Mage.’ Predating all other magical orders, save possibly the Elemental Circle, the Master Mage’s responsibility first was simply supreme magical authority and teacher of Atlantis, and was more of an honor that was bestowed on someone than an office. As time went on, the increasing importance of magic and its part in the political arena caused the Master Mage to change from an academic office to a more active roll in Atlantain culture. Now he was responsible for overseeing and organizing all mystics sworn to Atlantis, and to protect the homeland from all supernatural threats. As Atlantain influence spread, the Master Mage grew to encompass more and more of the world, and eventually, the title official became, ‘Earth’s Master Mage.’ After the sinking of Atlantis, and with it the disappearance or death of the current Master Mage and most candidates, the title and responsibilities of the Master Mage nearly died out. Several members of the magical community proclaimed themselves to be the new Master Mage, causing infighting and chaos. Harmony was soon restored to the magical community by the common efforts of several Mystical Orders, such as the Counsel of the Seal and the Elemental Circle. Eventually, the Master Mage was largely ignored or forgotten, a past relict invoked by those still sentimental over Atlantis’s fall. However, the true Master Mage, chosen and guided by the spirits of Atlantis, re-emerged years later, when the Dark Tribunal threatened earth. After helping to defeat the Demon Lords, the Master Mage’s title and office were restored. Now, the current Master Mage works with the other Magical Offices and Councils, working together to protect the world from all mystical threats.
The title has had the honor of having several prestigious bearers, such as Sirrion, the Scarlet Sorcerer, Ios the Seer, and Merlin the Magician. But its history has also been stained by those that have betrayed their duties, the darkest and most famed of these being Malador, the Mystic.
During the golden age of Atlantis, Malador was the prize student of Lord Sirrion, the Master Mage. Ambitious, intelligent, and of course, talented in the Arcane Arts, Malador’s skill caused him to skyrocket though the ranks of Atlantis’s mystics. But no matter what he accomplished, Malador always found himself being placed second to Sirrion. Were not his talents enough to warrant him credit where it was due? Tired of living in the shadow of his mentor, Malador hatched a plan.
When Sirrion was supposed to attend the Gathering of King’s Mystics, Malador offered to go in his stead, representing him. After all, it was just a silly banquet and Sirrion was busy man. Seeing the truth in his apprentice’s words and wanting to continue his research, Sirrion agreed. Malador arrived at the gathering, and when members of the Court questioned this decision, Malador explained that Sirrion was not able to attend due to personal reasons and then dazzled everyone with a display of magic.
And so the pattern continued. Soon, Sirrion was making no public appearances, and Malador was filling in on all of his responsibilities. Sirrion, already considered mysterious, garnered a reputation as a hermit. Eventually, a powerful mystic and rival of the Scarlet Sorcerer demanded to duel the Master Mage for his title. To everyone’s surprise, it was Malador who answered the challenge. He explained that Sirrion was feeling a little under the weather and had sent him in his stead. Insulted, the challenger attacked Malador, and to everyone’s further surprise, the younger man made quick work of him.
After that incident, Sirrion and Malador were forcibly summoned by the King of Atlantis. He felt that Sirrion was neglecting his duties as Master Mage, and if his research was so demanding, then perhaps it was time to give his office to another. After all, Malador had proved himself to be more than capable of completing the job. Without reluctance or hesitation, Sirrion agreed, presenting Malador with a magical golden mask. It was a symbol of Malador’s accomplishments and perfection of the magical arts, and he hoped that it would become a badge of office for the Master Mage. And with that, he ascended into the heavens, becoming the Starry Visitor, and Malador ascended to the rank of Master Mage, becoming the most renowned mystic alive. His plan was a success.
However, it still was not enough. Even after his ascension, Malador could still hear people whispering behind his back. In their eyes, Malador was nothing more than a pale imitation of Sirrion; his shadow! No matter what he did, no matter what he accomplished, Sirrion was still there, mocking him! Well, if the world wanted to keep him in his former Master’s shadow, then Malador would just have to do something no other Master Mage had ever attempted.
His pride and power-lust blinding him, Malador attempted to call upon the powers from the Blackness Beyond. Beseeching them, Malador struck a pack, gaining their dark aid and power in exchange for all the souls on Earth.
Malador created a gateway to the Blackness Beyond, and unleashed a nightmare upon the world he had sworn to protect. The mages of Atlantis and the brave warriors of earth united to fight him, but Malador’s dark army seemed insurmountable and limitless. Just as Malador began the ritual that would open a gateway powerful enough for his dark patrons, the Princes of the Blackness Beyond, to enter the earth, a red star in the heavens blazed bright and flew down to earth. Sirrion had returned!
With the appearance of the Scarlet Sorcerer, the armies of Earth redoubled their efforts, and eventually, the battle was brought to Malador himself. To all’s amazement, it seemed that Sirrion and the Fallen Master Mage where evenly matched. However, with the help from Atlantis’s mages, Sirrion was able to defeat Malador and close the Dark Gateway for good.
The dark power Malador acquired from the Blackness Beyond made him near impossible to kill, so Sirrion and Atlantis’s mages were able to seal his soul away inside his golden mask, the key to the power he gained from the Blackness Beyond. The mask was then sealed away inside a mystical tomb, hidden away from the rest of the world. Sirrion charge the mages that had aided him with guarding the tomb, naming them the Counsel of the Seal, and then he departed once again the stars, vowing to return only when the Counsel had failed in their duty.
In all irony, Malador had the last laugh. Not only would he forever more be remembered as the darkest and most terrible mystic alive, but with his dying breath, Malador cursed Atlantis. By the end of the year, the beginnings of the Great Disaster that would lead to it’s sinking would commence.
Though sealed away, Malador’s name lives on, and his secrets and teachings have been passed along secretly. Many dark circles of mystics swear fidelity to him, and search for a way to release their wicked Master. However, they work even more fervently know than ever, as Felix Faust, self-proclaimed Mystic of Taint and Dark Lord of the Tainted Realm, has risen to fame, leading many to believe that he is the greatest Mystic that has ever lived. This insult cannot go unpunished, and now they work not only to free their master, but also to bring down Faust’s empire.

Notes
Behold, Malador the Mystic, the terrible Fallen Mage of Atlantis and first to betray his oaths as Master Mage. This build was influenced by the Mutants and Masterminds character of the same name, found in the Freedom City and Book of Magic sourcebooks. However, his story and powers have been changed to fit my campaign.

Malador the Mystic has a power of my own invention, Taint Control.

It doesn’t look promising. There’s really no way to recover any of it, and so far, HP’s doing anything they can to avoid helping us out. Oh well, you win some, you loose some.

WAH !!! Malador can definitly give you some goosebumps !! :o

---

I wonder how your story will progress with your players. Im guessing it will be a LOOOONG way before they can match against Malador and Faust on their own :p

I admit, I also cant wait to read the new story you are hiding in the depth of your genious brain, where I cannot reach to have spoilers LOL :p

Your characters also have good links between each others, except maybe Prince Onyx, who I cannot see being friends or foes with anyone, being a lone wolf somehow, crossing the paths of the heroes sometimes either to help or the opposite, depending of his plans to bring down Faust. Maybe joining the heroes from time to time but always doing lethal damage on his ennemies and the heroes have to stop him from killing LOL Have you plan a alliance with someone for him? Maybe having someone in the Illuminati who gives him infos from time to time or ressources? Allied to Malador or the heroes of course, would be thematic. Not joining their cause (he dont care about Malador or the heroes) but since they have common ennemies... It could even be someone allies to the heroes, like the Silver Lady, she could not even know the link between this boy and the Jade Prince... twists of fate are amusing LOL

---

Oh... I did it again didnt I ?? Sorry, got carried away by my addiction of your characters and stories LOL

It will take even longer, seeing as to how far and between my group’s meetings are.

My brain is genius? How flattering.

You’ve got my plan for Onyx Prince’s style down rather well. More about him will be revealed in my next story, but I won’t say anymore.

Birds of Passage
-Epilogue-
Part 2

The intercom on David’s desk buzzed, followed by the voice of Owen Burnett. “Mr. Xanatos, it seems that Mr. Jason Todd would like to speak with you-”
Xanatos heard Jason’s angry voice saying something that consisted of several swear words.
“-immediately.”
“Send him up, Owen,” Xanatos said calmly, “I’m just about done.
“Anyway,” he said, turning his attention back to the compute screen, the image of Ra’s al Ghul looked back at him, “I’m happy to report that the mission was a complete success and aside the initial goal of retrieving all the data, we’ve also had several unexpected yet welcome results as well, as you’ve already pointed out.”
Xanatos grinned, glancing over at the copy of ‘The Daily Bugle’ on his desk. The front page story read, “Gotham Outsiders Level Military Base: Nightwing, reported underling of Gotham City’s controversial vigilantly Batman, teams up with the notorious menace Spider-man and violent madman Daredevil in an series of raids across New York, climaxing with the destruction of a military base. Police still investigating as to why.”
On the screen, Ra’s smiled slightly. “Yes, it seems that you’ve performed admirably, Xanatos. I see that seeking alliance with you was a wise decision. Send me the data as soon as possible, and good day.” The screen went blank.
A few moment’s later, his office doors burst open as Jason Todd strode though. To Xanato’s surprise, Wade Wilson followed right behind him.
“Xanatos!” Jason shouted, slamming a fist onto the desk, “I’ve got a bone to pick with you!”
Mimicking Jason, Deadpool added, “And I like shouting at my employer!”
David leaned back leisurely. “Certainly boy; pull up a chair and we can sort this out. And feel free to help yourself to a drink, by the way.” He gestured to the mini-bar that was just hidden from sight.
“Well, don’t mind if I do,” Deadpool sang happily, waltzing on over.
Jason, on the other hand, stayed put. “Stop trying to be a champagne villain and start talking,” the young man growled. “I’ve been cooped up for 3 days. I want some answers.”
“Actually, he more of a Whisky Villain if ya look at his mini-bar,” Deadpool interjected, plopping into a chair, and swirling his drink. “Or have you been hangin’ with Tony Stark lately, Xanny? Oh, this chair has buttons! I wonder what this one does?”
“Anyway,” Xantatos cut in, “What seems to be the problem?”
“You set me up! That’s what the problem is!” Jason shouted. “Now give me a reason why I shouldn’t shoot you now.”
“And what put you under the impression that I set you up?” Xantos asked, smiled.
Todd’s eyes narrowed. “Let’s see: You hired me to help you take over the Birds of Passage, and then you hired Bane to pretend that he’s really in charge of the Birds, but in truth, you’re the one behind them, aren’t you?”
Xanato’s grin widened. “So you figured it out all on your own? I’m proud of you.”
Suddenly, Deadpool’s voice rose up, in a fairly inappropriate way. “Oh dear God, this chair has vibrate and Shiatsu Massage! Oh man, Red Hood, you’ve got to try this, you’d never knew anything could feel this good; it’s enough for me to give up me search for a meaningful relationship.”
Red Hood and Xanatos stared at him for a few moments.
“Anyway,” David continued, suppressing a shutter, “I think you’ve earned an explanation. As you’ve said, I am the true mastermind behind the Birds of Passage, and yes, I also hired both you and Bane. In truth, the Birds are just one of many organizations I’ve created over the world. All of them served two initial purposes: One, they where all used to test the efficiently of mercenaries, assassins, and free lance black ops agents from around the world. If they passed, I hired them; you where the last one picked.”
He slid a list to Jason, who glanced at it briefly. Bane, Curaré, Floyd Lawton, Wade Wilson, and Train Heartnet where a few names he recognized.
“Pretty high profile,” Jason mused, “Why would you need such high tier mercs?”
“We’ll get to that in a moment,” Xanatos reassured him. “Anyway, the secondary purpose of the Birds or any other criminal organization I created was to form a diversion for both the law enforcement and superheroes while my agents gathered government information. The methods where all different, but the results where the same. For example, do you remember the SPADE unit the Birds stole?”
“The one Deadpool blew up?”
“Under my orders, actually,” Xanatos said. “Anyway, one of my scientists invented it, and then I made a cover story for it and arranged for it to be sold to SHIELD. Anybody could tell you that it was waste of time and money, as there are methods to which one can achieve the devices results without any of its drawbacks. However, I had a friend in the right place, and government organizations tend to like things that are big and shinny. However, the SPADE unit’s real use was that inside all that bulk and circuitry, a device was hidden that would be able to scan and download all information from any local computer. And it was used inside SHIELD headquarters.”
“So you’d have all the data archives and information of SHIELD. But you had Deadpool blow it up,” Jason pointed out.
Smiling, Xantos held up what looked like a handheld GPS with a scarab logo on it. “When sneaking into the Birds of Passage’s base, Steve Rogers used this device, on lone to SHIELD by Scarab Corporation Robotics Firm, which I by the way own. It downloaded all the data from the SPADE unit, which is why I had Deadpool destroy the evidence.”
Jason was quiet for a moment. “Okay, I get it,” he said slowly, “but you still didn’t tell me why do you need super-villain mercs and government data.”
Now, Xanatos’s smile became wicked. “Tell me, Jason, have you heard of the Illuminati?”

The End?

I think the right expression would be... :o

OMG !!! Deadpool is as funny as always, makes me think I should search for comics with him in it. But I heard he do a lot a american culture kinda jokes, which mean I wont get all hes saying (since Sand Fox wont be there giving video link to his jokes)...

Anyway, GREAT ending... I dont know about the Illuminati that much, exept from I searched from wikipedia and Da Vinci movies with Tom Hank :)

The story you have made is so much structured and yet complicated... I wish I could do something like that.

Somewhat, Im even hungrier for your next story now... :)

Island of Storms
-Beginning-
Flower Arranging

“My Lord Prince,” Himawari said teasingly, looking at his poor attempt at flower arranging, “Chrysanthemums and peonies do not complement one another.”
Scowling, the young Mystic of Jade looked up at the woman, and back at his arrangement. It did look bad. “Well…they look fine together in my garden at home,” he finally said stubbornly.
Himawari laughed softly. “Well of course they look well there. There they can grow and flourish naturally, where they are given the proper space and setting. The secret to good gardening is treating the plants like you would a child. Flower arranging is entirely different. The purpose is to use the lesser flowers to bring out the beauty of the main ones, all the while arranging them to show a deeper meaning. Look, I’ll show you, my Prince.”
“Don’t’ call me that,” Elon growled. Then he reminded himself where he was: The Pride Lands of the Kitsu people. Here, everyday people knew him as the Mystic of Jade. He had come under request of Shaman Blood-Mane, the Mystic of Ruby, to give his advice on combating the Taint.
The Jade Prince smiled inwardly when he had read the request. The rest of the Elemental Circle may not have respected him, but they could no longer deny his power when it came to dealing with his loathsome Father’s touch.
Still, he pondered as Himawari attempted to again show him the secrets of flower arrangement, these lands where so different from what he was used to. The Kitsu people were a race of lion-like humanoids, a people who put great emphasize on honoring and remembering their ancestors. Their homeland, magically hidden away years ago, was pure and untouched by technology’s corruption, and the spirits of nature thrived. It was a paradise in Elon’s mind.
When the Jade Prince arrived, Shaman Blood-Man had been unable to see him right away, and allowed him to rest in his meditation garden while he waited. After about a half-hour of meditation, Jade had been shaken from his trance by Himawari, a human mystic and gardener of the household. Apparently, she was surprised to see a new human face around, and wanted to know what he was doing. After a short introduction and Jade figuring out that she wouldn’t leave him to his meditations, the girl was able to coax him into attempting flower arranging. He was starting to regret the dissection even more than when he began.
“You see, my Prince,” Himawari smiled, “it is not so hard.” She looked over his latest attempt with squinted eyes. “This one looks almost passable…for a young child.”
“Very funny,” the mystic said dryly.
BEHIND YOU!
Too surprised to look for the source of the high-pitched, squeaky voice, the Jade Price whipped around to see a bolt of blood red tearing at him.
With a quick gesture, the flower arrangement he had been working on sprang to life, growing into a living wall of flower petals and stems that took the blood bolt for him.
The Jade Prince turned to Himawari, who had fallen down in the confusion. “To safety!” the Jade Prince commanded her, “NOW!” She hurried away, intending on informing Shaman Blood-Mane.
Drawing his ceremonial mask from his belt, the Jade Prince donned it and stepped out from his cover in own fluid motion. His protective jade barrier blazed to life. “Come out, tainted slave,” he said stoically, the power of earth echoing in his words. “No use hiding. I can sense you.”
From one of the trees in the garden, his attacker stepped out, blood still dripping from his hand, cut to fuel his foul magic. “Hello, Jade Prince,” the assailant hissed gleefully, “I am here to kill you.”
“Nay,” Elon responded coolly, “You are here to die. Begin.”

WAH !!! The story really is really great !! Nice as always, with great japanease references... Its not so surprinsing you gave he story a more asian touch since most character image and everything else gave us a hint it would turn out this way.

I really want to see the fight between mystic, will be fun !! I like how you added the spiritual mask also, cool idea of using a mask instead of a amulet. And the fact the Jade Prince cant use his taint without resolving to the Holding Back drawback is great also :)
