Comments: For all in the info I had to work with from the Marvel wikis, this might as well be an original but we’ll call it a conversion for now. This is Laufey, Loki’s dear old dad. He didn’t get a whole lot of run in the comics but he was an integral part of the movie so I figured I would work him up. Again, there was not a lot info on him on the net, so I just winged it with what I remembered from the movie of how the Frost Giants functioned and generally how I wanted him to work. I wanted him to be where Loki could take him out with a good sneak attack but in a straight up fight, Thor would have to work hard to beat him. I also wanted him to be able to at least challenge Odin, which he can, but the Borson would pwn him when all was said and done.

Thorpacolypse wrote:Well, I was going to stat out all of the different pieces, and I still may, but really, I figured the Power Loss was enough since it's pretty much known that he's a combination of several Constructicons. I figure you would treat him losing a piece like a Long Haul or Scrapper after a crit or 3rd damage or something like that. Unless I am misunderstanding your question, then feel free to straighten me out!

I just wanted to represent the big beast as he is constituted and leave the rest to GM/player imagination/dialogue. And on the captions, sometimes I get inspired, sometimes I just feel like being silly so I'm glad others enjoy them.

Thanks for shopping at J-Mart!

Nope, that was the question.

And shop I do ! I've used (and abused) a number of your builds against some hapless players...

I just read your Sam. I think that was inspired. Bane of the Decepticons is such a good idea...

POWERS:
Cosmic Awareness: Comprehend Languages 3 (speak all, understand all); Communication 1 (mental); Enhanced Awareness 6; Senses 1 (Cosmic Awareness); 23 pts
Galactic Glaze: Protection 2, Impervious Toughness 8, Immunity 12 (Aging, Life Support, Need for Sleep); 30 pts
Cosmic Surfboard: 33 pts traits, Removable (-7 pts); 26 pts

Cosmic Healing: Healing 12 (Extra: Ranged. Restorative, Flaw: Others only); 1 pt

EQUIPMENT:
NONE

OFFENSE:
Initiative +12
Close Attack +8
Unarmed +10 [Unarmed +14]
Ranged Attack +7
Power Cosmic Control +12 [Cosmic Energy Blast +18; Cosmic Transform +10]
Special Attack [Cosmic Energy Burst +15, Area Burst]

Toughness +16 (+8 Impervious), Fortitude +15, Will +15

Naïve: He can be too trusting of others at times
Relationships: His relationship with Galactus is complex to say the least but he does feel a responsibility to him even when not serving as his herald
Reputation: No one generally likes to see a Herald of Galactus
Rivalry: Some of the other current and former heralds have see him as a "favorite" of Galactus and do not like it

Abilities 124 + Skills 28 (56 ranks) + Advantages 10 + Powers 143 + Defenses 14 = 319 / 319

Comments: The mighty Silver Surfer, longtime herald of Galactus and one of the great dichotomies in comics: a totally 70’s, kinda goofy comic concept that actually still looks cool. I mean, a naked bald silver guy riding a surfboard? A cosmic surfboard? Really? To think that advanced alien species would have such a concept, not to mention the fact that a guy that is as old as time itself who goes around eating planets and empowers his heralds with massive cosmic power doles out a SURFBOARD?

But you know what? It looked cool then and it looks cool now. Logic be damned. The Silver Surfer rocks. Once we get H&V II, and I get a look at the Star Sapphire setup, I would love to do a big cosmic crossover test/storyline with some the Corps, Nova, Galactus, etc. just for all the damage you can do with all those +15 damage attacks. Maybe they could all take on Squirrel Girl.

...Nah, they wouldn't have a chance. 8)

Abilities 138 + Skills 29 (58 ranks) + Advantages 23 + Powers 130 + Defenses 19 = 339 / 339

Comments: I knew just enough about Mister Majestic to be dangerous, but I had to whip him up because that is a just a great name. Majestros is a Superman analogue from the Wildstorm-verse, with the expected complicated backstory that I will refer you to Wikipedia for information on. He has crossed over with the DC setting a couple of times that know of and one time for sure he spent some time with Superman. They were pretty evenly matched, as that was Jim Lee's vision of him, so I built him at pretty much the same levels. Superman is a tad stronger, although Majestic a better fighter and he is a technical genius at Stark levels and maybe beyond.

Clean Up 8/8/12: Bumped Majestic a PL on offense to denote his better fighting skills and made him as strong as Superman. Supes would have a hard time taking him down now, which is how I think things would really work in their general incarnations. Majestic is too well-trained and far more aggressive than Clark.

Comments: I wonder long it will be before the bring The Abomination back? Not the whole Chaos War “let’s rip off Blackest Night and bring a bunch of dead characters back” type of resurrection but something more permanent. He's always a great arch for Banner even if he is just the mirror image trope.

As usual, I think your builds are GREAT! Count me as a very happy J-Mart costumer.

On a sidenote, I didn't read a lot about Mister Majestic, but his wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mister_Majestic would indicate powerlevels more in line with the Silver age superman (moving planets, using his "laser vision" for feats like creating a replacement for the sun, changing the chemical composition of Jupiter and reprograming the Eradicator on a atomic level, flying away from the milky way on his own power, etc).

Anyway, I liked your version.

keep up the nice work :D:D:D:D

Depends on how you look at it. Most of the "out there" stuff Majestic does could be considered Power Stunts, in the way they describe with Martian Manhunter coming up with a "new power every week" (DCA Heroes Handbook).

I don't remember the Bit about a new sun, but I remember the part about Jupiter, the whole point was to change it's color to blue with a fancy excuse, lol.

Most of what you describe is in Majestic #1, I reccommend picking it up if you can find it. If you pay close attention to all the relevant info, Majestic #1 was what caused DC to finally break down and bring in outside help at top dollar rates to "save Superman" because of how bad sales had declined (they were already getting low when Majestic #1 hit shelves, but Majestic #1 just about killed it!). The artist on Majestic, Ed McGuinness, oddly enough, had approached DC about doing Superman. They laughed at him, implied his art was too cartooney, and he went to Image instead to do Majestic....and almost killed Superman, lol! At the time Majestic was being advertised, the ads always had the catchphrase "Remember when heroes moved planets? WE DO!", a jab at DC. At the end of Majestic #1 they have articles by the writer & artist, and Ed McGuinness' story is in there.

That, along with looking at certain dates for certain books, tells the story. DC hired many different writers & artists....including Ed McGuinness....to come in and save the Superman titles, with very large paychecks. That's when we got stories about Imperiex, Brainiac 13, and a lot of other cool stuff. It all happened around 2000 or just after.

Oops, missed that little details, thanks for the catch. I fixed it and most certainly it is The Hulk.

As for the posts, I've had the double combo of motivation and time, so I have several more builds to post in the near future. Some Spidey villains and some other odds and ends will be coming soon.

You pretty much hit the nail on what I did Hellstormer. While a lot of his stuff seems very Silver Age Superman, I wanted to keep him in line with the DCA Superman so he doesn't get the 40 ranks of Super Strength or a 20 rank Affliction for Transforming the Eradicator and such. Granted, I might get the itch to do something like that later, but for now on the thread, I'm sticking to "pure" PCs and DCA compatible stuff.

We've got a new item hitting the Aisle 2 shelves. And this item proves that you don't have to be low powered to member of our JOB SQUAD line!

Image
The sad about this is that he STILL ends up jobbing to Pym...

THE ABSORBING MAN
PL: 14 (184 pts) - OPL: 14 ; DPL: 14

Comments: I loves me some Crusher Creel. Big, and dumb but powerful as all get out. I like that's getting some good run in Fear Itself after being a big old punching bag for Thor, Hulk and others for years. If I break down and get the TBP later on I'll have to stat his new hammer wielding form.

Comments: Man, have I developed a love for Kraven. I didn’t care for him that much in the 70’s and 80’s when I first started reading Spider-Man, but after Kraven’s Last Hunt and the recent Grim Hunt, I have become a Kraven mark for sure. And they handled the Grim Hunt so well, making his return powerful and also taking the chance to thin out the "spiders" in the Marvel U, which was needed.

I may take this Kraven up to PL11, since he did take Spidey out on his own and also beat Kaine pretty handily on his own, but for now, this feels about right.

Clean Up 9/7/11: As noted above, I did take Kraven up to PL11 to be more in line with the DCA builds.

An update to Kraven as I get ready to work on some Spidey Villain builds.

I noticed that the old ball and chain is indestructible, which if i am correct you purchased with "feature." You can actually do it as part of the Removable flaw, under the section "Removable and Damage" on page 137.

Removable devices can be damaged, possibly even destroyed (see the Damage effect description for details). So long as the character has power points invested in the device, it can be repaired, eventually. This usually requires time between adventures, perhaps even a special adventure to find certain rare parts, specialized help, or other components. For a flat 1-point reduction in the value of the Removable flaw, you can define a device as Indestructible. It can still be taken away, but cannot be damaged or destroyed, except as a GM-imposed complication (earning the player a hero point as usual). This reduction can lower the value of
the flaw to 0, in which case the character gets no power point discount for the device.

Either way is correct, but just in case you were unaware. :D
