Visionary

Visionary rolled his eyes at the comment made by Montebank. Who does this guy think he is anyway, the last man on Earth?

"I agree, we should check out the other pods for possible hostiles."

The team moves with Clockwork putting his sights on the solitary pod. Regarding the pod heading towards the dock, it's possible that Mindspike might be able to slow the descent, or that Artemis could take aim... one thing is certain, if no one acts, the pod's impact and blast radius will likely take out the commander and the press entourage.

A few soldiers in civilian dress have emerged from cover and are attempting to put together a SAM launcher. Whether or not they will succeed is anybody's guess. Taylor is barking orders with the reporter staunchly refusing to listen or take any kind of cover.

I believe that this would be initiative...

I've decided to send Clockwork after the 2nd pod as he's MIA for a few days. Depending on where we get before he gets back, we'll see if there is anything else there.

"I would not mind somebody getting me over to my girl, and fast," The Mountebank says, looking at the situation and being, for once, and for him unusually, serious.

{Hey guys, I can't do it alone! Input?}

Visionary

Visionary was concerned about the third pod landing near the docks where the commander and the reporter were waiting. He could probably blast it but without knowing what was inside, he might do more harm than good. For now, he tried to get used to being flown from place to place by Mindspike.

"If whatever is inside turns out to be hostile, I will be ready to blast it." he mentions to the group.

"I'll see if I can tell if the occupant is humanoid or not."

If he can see the pod, he will use infravision to determine the heat difference of the pod and whatever is inside.

Visionary 20
Mounteback 17
Mindspike 9
Clockwork ?
Uproar ?
Tempest ?
Artemis ?

Mindspike concentrates and the air around the heroes ripples, lifting Mounteback, Visionary and Mindspike herself up and toward the oncoming pod. The concentration required to get her there leaves her able to act, but setting the others down is top priority.

Visionary’s attempts to discern the contents of the pod via heat signatures, sadly fails as the pod itself is one big blotch of heat from re-entry. (That’s a hero point, Vij)

Clockwork approaches the other pod as something emerges. It is not Va Shaak, but definitely not human. One thing for certain is that it is big, ugly and seems to be pouring itself out of the debris and reforming from a liquid state.

Visionary is up.

OOC Anyone who has not chimed in that they live will be assumed to have lost interest, and I will make an effort to replace them. I give you forty-eight hours from this post. I loved your character concepts and want to continue !

Visionary

Visionary is not terribly surprised to find the heat of the pod is obscuring his infravision. Thinking quickly, and not knowing if the occupant was friend or foe, he decides to try to deflect the pod away from the dock area.

Precise Blast to alter the trajectory of the pod without destroying it = 1d20+10=24

(Initiative 17)

"Hey, sugar puss!" The Mountebank shouts towards the dock, specifically at Shannon, "Look up! And get the heck out of the way!"

"Brain Child," Mountebank speaks into his transmitter, "How about you do your little trick again, and get us back other there. Looks like my girl is about to turn into multi-colored paste. And I don't like kissing paste. It's sticky."

(The Mountebank is referring to MindSpike (Brain Child) of course)

"Let's save the chatter for later, OK?" The Mountebank says, suddenly serious - in a tone of voice distinctly different than his normal casual style. "There are people in danger over there. Can you get us to the dock, fast? Or stop that thing from falling on them? Whatever we do, it has to be done NOW."

For some reason, you aren't as offended as you might otherwise be; he has spoken the truth, for once, and perhaps the shock of seeing him like this makes you take stock of the situation in a new way. Dimly, you realize that The Mountebank isn't quite as facile as he makes himself out to be; he has been in dangerous situations before, and taken the lead, and gotten himself and his friends through it. He trusts himself and trusts other's ability to do what is useful at the moment.

He demands help, and quick action.

So here`s how I plan to handle this… it requires a modicum of suspension of disbelief and even stretches that some, but… from the getgo, Clockwork was in the pod alone. The comments made by Artemis can be ignored or inserted with appropriate change into a conversation with Clockwork.

The dock and now the scramble back, has consisted of Minspike, Visionary and The Mouonteback.
I am handwaving the others because if I hear from them and have a good reason for the absence, I would still be willing to bring them back in. (Sorry no flash succumbing to the Effect.)

We are also going to ignore ooze from the other Pod Number in an effort to get things moving.

Thanks for your understanding.

Visionary 20
Clockwork 19
Mounteback 17
Mindspike 9

Visionary is not terribly surprised to find the heat of the pod is obscuring his infravision. Thinking quickly, and not knowing if the occupant was friend or foe, he decides to try to deflect the pod away from the dock area. The trajectory is immediately and visibly altered and it is clear that the pod will pass over the dock, the nes crew and their vehicle by mere inches.

Mounteback's serious tone, causes Mindspike to react and the group finds itself flying in the heroine`s mental grip once again.

Visionary spies a plume of dust on the horizon, but the immediate danger draws his attention to the crashing pod.
The second it impacts, the hatch blows, and that same odor as before wafts over, even from a distance of a good fifty-sixty feet. Visionary can see movement in the shadows of the interior of the pod
