Okay, just in time for Halloween, I've decided to start another crinoverse campaign. This one however will be a little different; It will still be set in the crinoverse, but it will be lower powered and based on horror/mystery than super heroics.

The basic premise is that the PC's are agents of the Covenant, an international group of mystics, scholars, and supernatural beings dedicated to protecting the world from the forces of evil. They have been dispatched to the small mountain town of September Pass, which is the site of a hellmouth, and has become a font for supernatural activity, and may spell the doom of mankind if its allowed to open.

Setup:

*Characters are PL 6, 90 points. Mainly non powered investigators, low level magics and psionics are acceptable, but the emphasis will be on information gathering, investigation, and horror, not ass kicking.

*Power restrictions: No movement based powers, or other game breakers, I can't think of any others off the top of my head, but I'll check the character sheets when they come through.

*Since this is horror, there is a greater chance of character death. So assume by default all damage done by monsters to humans will be lethal.

*The Covenant is broken into five major groups for your convenience (Not counting the Seraphim, their superhuman arm).

Order of Micheal: Soldiers
Order of Solomon: Historians
Order of Simon: Magicians
Order of Caleb: Counter-intelligence
Order of Joseph: Administration (Probably not worthy of PC material).

*As always, second edition rules.

*Also as always, first come first serve. I can assume Yeo and Kreuz will be playing, so that leaves 4 more players.

Is there anymore information on the Covenant? I'm thinking of a simple soldier caste at the moment.

Complication:
Cloistered: Father Daniels grew up in a Catholic orphanage, then went to seminary with no signifigant outside world experience.

Eager to Prove: Father Daniels is eager to live up to his mentor, and will often try hard to prove he is worthy.

Youthful Appearance: Father Daniels looks even younger than he is and its hard to get some people to take the priest seriously.


Background: Jacob was raised in a Catholic orphanage by Father Sean Ryan. Father Ryan worked for the Covennant, and when he saw young Jacob's skill with languages, he knew Jacob would be a valuable recruit. Jacob wanted to impress Father Ryan so much, he followed his calling, eventually becoming an ordained priest and member of the Order of Solomon.
Father Ryan was assigned to September Pass and he was taking Father Daniels with him for the young priest's first field assignment. En route, Father Ryan died mysteriously, and Father Daniels is tasked provided research and support for the group in September Pass.

Real Name: Paul Pettigrew
Faction: The Covenant, Order of Simon
Age: 15
Fae Mien: A figure of ghostly pallor and inhumanly haunting eyes, almost wraith-like in appearance.

History: If there was any convincing needed about the depths to which the Pact would descend to pay their prices of occult lore and power, a classic example proved to be a deal struck by Silas the Elder with the Fae Winter Lord known as the Gray Loremaster. For a tome of information about the manifold ways to make or break geasas and pledges, he chose to exchange one of his own blood into slavery.

Paul Pettigrew was a recognized child of Silas by one of his ex-wives, but acknowledged and raised with great fortune and learning in the lore of the arcane. He had initially expected to follow in his fat father's path (having some naive understanding of the Pact at the time) but was summoned to the manor only to be seized by goblins and dragged to off to his servitude before his father's grinning face.

Trapped for the better part of a year Paul was changing into a Changeling, especially afflicted by the master tomes of metaphysical fear and sorrow that he was primarily assigned to tend in one of the extensive libraries held by the Loremaster. He plotted his escape eventually, and calmly broke out leaving terrified guards in his wake.

Meeting up with a party of fellow Lost in the Hedge, his path turned to Freedom City, where he learned and searched magic and arcane knowledge with Seven- a process that brought him again the fire-bending servant of Sin known as Zhao at one point- and focused on his plan for protection- allegiance to the Covenant and combating their foes.

Complications
Motivation- Freedom: Paul is utterly intent on never being controlled again, be it by the Gray Loremaster or his father or anyone else. Serving as a Covenant agent ensures he has allies towards that end.
Enemies: The Gray Loremaster, Silas the Elder and the Pact, Zhao.
Relationships: Paul has made a tentative friendship and more solid partnership with Seven.
Hidden Mien: Only rare and great powers can reveal Ghast's mien to all, but if it is revealed, the frightening appearance has its detriments.
Responsibility: Ghast is an agent of the Covenant and is on call.

They are from The Algernon files by Blackwyrm games. Basically think a cross between the Watchers council, The traditions from Mage the Ascension, and the BPRD.

Background:

Jack was born to a line of psychics and mystics allied with the Covenent for generations, and virtually grew up in their facilities. However, unlike virtually every other member of her family, her own talents were rather restricted, being only able to talk to animals.

Jack was, however, extremely intelligent. And, unfortunately again, her specialty lay in technology and computers, rather than research, linguistics, or anything else useful to a society fighting the supernatural. And, as such, she ended up in adminitration, because in this age, while computer savy isn't much help against a ramapging eldritch monstrosity, someone has to keep the office running.

She still tries to get out in the field whenever pssoible however, and she's a fair shot with a gun, and tends to come prepared.

Complications:

Absent minded: While brillant, Jack will sometimes forget where she left things, and isn't particularly awar eof her surroundings.

Eager to Prove Herself: Jack would desperately like to help out in the feild more, and when she does get to, she's too eager to show her worth.

"Hey, isn't your brother/Mother/Father/Cousin..": Jack's family has been with the covenant a long time, and a number of them were distinguished leaders and field operatives. And while she loves her family, she would like it if she could get some recognition for her own skills.

Marcus Lyon's (Lee-own) childhood could best be described as a misfit adventure. He spent much of his parentless youth out on the streets, using his unique psionic ability of blending in with the environment to provide for himself, financially and otherwise. It wasn't until he aged that he progressed to the more serious, high stakes crime of breaking and entering. This eventually led to his encounter to one Master Mage, who caught Marcus trying to steal one of his mystical artifacts. Instead of punishing him though, he directed him to the Covenant, who soon allowed him to enter the Order of Caleb and use his rather useful talent in the field of counter-intelligence.

Phobia: Despite working on it, Marcus has always been a little clusterphobic.
Origin: He has no idea where his powers come from

:arrow: EDIT: Added +4 to Search (might be nice for someone in counter-intelligence... maybe :) ) and +2 to Bluff and Survival. Now Marcus can automatically get a total of 20 for deceptions, even under pressure, with skill mastery.
