Justice League Unlimited: The New Guys (IC)

It was quiet around the Justice League confrence table. The seven members watched a holographic image of Earth. On the hologram there were various red spots, fifty two of them in all.

"As you all know," Batman said breaking the silence, "Each of these points is a major hotspot of activity. Each spot is a place that has been slowly leaking multi dimensional energy. Nothing has come of it yet but we have to keep watch on each of them."

"You do know we have a whole League, right Bats," The Flash smirked, "Why should we be so worried about this?"

"Besides the whole multiverse leaking on us," Green Lantern spoke up, "The energy signatures are increasing. The Gaurdians are confused about this as we are."

superman poked a few spots on the globs and a picture view of each of the monitored places popped up. He rubbed his chin. "Batman is right, we need some help watching these places."

Wonder Woman looked to the Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl then the rest of the group. "Some of you may have secret identities and or obligations, but a few of us can stay on watch most of the time."

"You know what happens to full timers, Diana," Martian Manhunter said, "Yes, we must keep our eyes peeled, but it's time to up the guard."

Hawkgirl shook her head, "Even if we expanded our League into the hundreds, we don't know what we're preparing for. I'm not saying not do it, but we need to dig further into this."

"I suggest each of you call in someone old and new," Superman said focusing on the pictures the hologram showed him, "The established member will be your right hand, the new one will be their back up. These people will be extensions of you."

"The new ones though," The Flash said, "How will we know they're ready?"

BATBOY

Gotham City
1:22 AM

The security officer nuzzled his palm beneath his chin, watching the many monitors before him feed the footage from cameras located all around the complex with little interested. Their glow illuminated the dull looks of both of him and his partner on monitor duty. It seemed it was going to be another typical night at Macro Industries, when something happened that didn't normally happen: the two security officer's head were swiftly met with one another, the violent sound of their crushing skulls indicating that they would be out for a while.

On a higher level of the building, a trio of guards wandered the halls, each with a pistol sheathed at their side. It was their job to keep any unwanted intruders out, and if there were any, they would be notified by the ones on monitor duty. Those two were otherwise preoccupied with an on the clock nap, however, so the only indication one of the guards received was a massive shadow cast over him. By then the only thing he could do was let out a loud gasp before a dark figure slammed him against the wall.

"Frank?" a second guard called out, hearing the cry, his firearm drawn. Just around the corner down the hallway, the man could make out the silhouette of what appeared to be a flowing cape and a head with a pair of spiky ears sticking out the top. He only saw it for a fleeting moment, as the figure darted in the opposite direction. "It's Batman!" the man yelled, running after the vigilante. Round the corner, the guard blind let off a volley of shots down the corridor, hoping to hit his target. Clickclickclick. The guard fumbled to reload his weapon, his fear only added by being able to see the unconscious form of his coworker, but was cut off when a gloved hand wrapped itself around his throat and lifted right off the ground.

"Not quite," the attacker said.

As the guard struggled to find air, he met the eyes of his assailant. The earlier deduction of Batman was not far off. Indeed, this person looked like the legendary Dark Knight. He possessed many of the defining traits: the yellow belt full of gadgets, the insignia of a bat spread across his chest, and the cowl with the ears that looked like horns. This Bat, however, was smaller, both in height and bulk. His mask also did not completely cover his head, letting his ruffled black hair hang out.

"It's Batboy," the vigilante said with a devilish smirk before delivering a blow to man's gut.

In the distance, there was the sound of of a mesh of footsteps, all moving with urgency. The third man on the floor was coming, and he had brought backup. They raced around the corner, one man leading the charge, but they were met with a blinding cloud of smoke. "Freeze!" demanded the man in front, his weapon raised despite being able to see anything. It was then that the this man felt something press against his chest, but was otherwise not hurt.

Beepbeepbeep.

The guard was rocketed right off his front, sprawling backwards, screaming and with his arms flailing. He crashed through his fellow guards behind him, toppling through them like a bowling ball through pins. No longer covered by the smoke, the culprit of his flight were clear: a mini-thruster planted directly on his chest.

"Dammit, where is he!?" one of the guards yelled, disoriented. In the distance, a ventilation shaft's gate was broken off...

*****

Batboy worked furiously at the keys of the computer, finding just what he came to find. His previous investigations had proved true: Macro Industries was just a front for criminal activity. It was all right here in the files: name, records, locations. Everything from money laundering to supplying personal or secured data. And the vigilante teen of the night was downloading it all onto a flash-drive. Feeling that he had gather all there was to collect, Batboy rose from his seat, taking the USB, and pressing a series of buttons on his gauntlet.

He was about to leave when the door of the main office that he had found his way into burst open, and in came pouring at least a dozen armed guns. They all lined the wall of the room, shots lined at the Batboy. "Hands in the air, copy-bat!" one of them commanded. Batboy complied immediately, raising his hands to the sky. He did not seem worried about the group of armed men, though. Instead he seemed more concerned with glancing repeatedly out the large windows on the wall behind him, looking down towards the streets. Down the street, a motorcycle was speeding towards the building. A motorcycle with no driver.

"Sorry guys, I'd love to stick around, but my ride is here." Batboy gave a small salute before pitching himself back through the window, shattering it to pieces. The teen hero plummeted to the crowd, hurdling down the side of the building. He grabbed the edges of his cape and spread it out, his descent slowing as the Batboy glided through the air. He flew towards the street, landing safely in the seat of the approaching motorcycle as it was still moving. Taking control of the vehicle, Batboy sped of, leaving behind the sound of desperate gunfire.

Mako

Alarms and Sirens howled in the distance with a riotous clamor, but the Thugish goon know coloquilly as Powerhouse who had just finished robbing the First National Bank dismissed them as easilly as he'd dealt with the Police. He'd escaped with over $100,000 dollars and a lot of property damage, included in his tally was 2 wrecked police cars, multiple injuries, and a bank that looked like it would be under rennovation for at least six months.

Bounding away for miles at a leap. He had outpaced a police helecopter, and taken refuge in a large park near a Lake just outside the city. As he counted the money; smugly confident in his escape he stiffened and then looked up in shock at the lone figure standing no more then 10 ft from him. What sent an icey shudder down his spine, wasnt that the stranger had snuck up on him like a ghost. But the man's eyes. They were pupil-less black, cold and merciless.

Almost like a sharks.

"I have tracked you here to bring you to justice for the police you injured. "Spoke the man in an authoritarian voice. "Will you surrender? Or will I be forced to hurt you?" He asked seeming to indicate he'd prefer the latter.

Gathering up his courage Powerhouse stood and became a litte more confident. he was taller and broader then the other man, and he knew he was stronger. Silently he chided himself for his initial reaction letting himself be spooked by this wimp.

"HAH!!" he barked derisively "I'm not going anywhere with you pipsqueak!!" he snarled and gave his most intimidating sneer, while cracking his knuckles menacingly. " But if its a whuppin your a wantin I'll gladly oblige."

"I am Mako, Prince of Atlantis, and you may have it your way." Came the quiet firm voice of Mako and with no further words needed. Battle was joined.

Mako attacked suddenly with blinding speed. letting loose with a bonecrushing right cross that sent Powerhouse flying backwards and into the small hillside with a crash of dirt and dust.

Shaking his head clear Powerhouse laughed HAH!! "is that all you got squirt? Then this'll be over quick!!" Rushinng forward he slammed his shoulder into the smaller man only to discover to his suprise that Mako was a lot sturdier then he looked and was barely budged.

Inwardly doubt crept into the big bruisers mind, that shot had hurt "This is gonna be alot tougher then I thought." the thought raced through his brain.

Shaking his head Powerhouse stood shakily, and growled at his opponent who calmly stalked him. Deciding that the bravado that had enabled him to intimidate the police and other authorities would serve him well here he roared in Spiteful mockery.

"That it fishbait? Is that all you got? HAH! Im Invincible!! you cant hurt Meeeee...OOOPHHHH!!!!!" Powerhouse Grunted in shock as Mako drove a fist into his belly. the Crushing blow drove deep into his chest driving all the air out of him and a follow up uppercut lifted him off the ground sending him backflipping through the air and falling prone a few feet away on his face.

As he lay their, a searing pain shot through his ribs forcing him to stagger to his knees and clutch his chest in an attempt to keep from vomiting; Makos voice came in over the haze of pain. "Give up now and serve your punishment, or the next time I will crush you." The voice was cold, and there was no mercy in it.

"Screw the money theirs allways more whenre it came from." thought Powerhouse as he stood shakily on two still powerful legs, and turning he ran, and then took a bounding leap carrying him skyward towards the city.

"HAH!! catch me now fishbreath!!" He shouted back to the receding figure in the distance as he made his get away.

-ooOoo-

Looking after the retreating figure Mako snorted disdainfully. Then kneeling down he started to sniff the air and the ground, and the bags of money. Taking a moment to hide the bags in a nearby bathroom he turned and with Powerhouse's rather odious scent strong and clear he started moving at a steady gait, tracking his enemy. His razor keen sences were like a steady beacon, drawing him closer and closer to his quarry. The impact craters where the oversized theif landed after each leap were as good as a roadmap, and a sense of smell so acute that it could detect a drop of blood in the water over a mile away followed the particular scent of his prey sifting it from the myriad other scents in the area, until finally he came to an alleyway, and a door that lead into a ratty hole in the wall bar. Walking to the door Mako made ready to enter it.

-ooOoo-

Powerhouse leapt skywards one more time then landed at the location he'd been heading for. A dilapidated hole in the wall named The Crusty Crab. You'd never find a more wretched hive of scum and villiany.

He loved it here, it was his kinda joint.

Entering he grabbed a coat off the rack and waved to the pudgy bartender Bob. Grabbing a brewski from a suprised patron that quickly backed down at his Intimidating glare. Powerhouse tried to sit back and ease the pain of his injured chest. On that massive chest a bruise was slowly turning a bright dark ugly purple and his breathing was still a little labored. He was fairly certian that he might even have a broken rib or two.

"Bastige Ill break him in 2 next time I see him." He grumbled into his cup.

He wa so caught up in thoughts of revenge that he was completely unaware of the shadow coming up behind him. His only warning was a rush of feet and a gasp that made him turn right around and into a jaw cracking punch that caused several patrons to wince and knocked him clean through the shabby wall with a violent snapping of timbers.

Sliding to a halt he shook his head in utter disbelief, feeling several loosened teeth. "How the hell did he find me?" he asked incredulously.

As he stood up he spotted a good sized sedan. Lifting it as if it were a baseball He threw it with a grunt of effort and was rewarded as the sedan crashed into the emerging Mako slamming him into the bars support strut and bringing the whole building down upon him with a roar of broken timbers and a cloud of dust.

Underneath the rubble Aric cursed himself for his carelessness. He'd gotten cocky and forgotten that stupid as the thug Powerhouse was, He was strong enough to live up to the name. Laying there he could feel the broken ribs grinding in his chest and the painful squeezeing of his lungs as he coughed up a lungful of coppery tasting reddish fluid. for a moment he just lay there in the darkness of the rubble its weight baring down on him, then he reached over and with a smirk grabbed a pipe and with a groan of metal ripped it loose. he was rewarded for his efforts with a blast of cold water from the demolished bars plumbing and fire prevention systems. It took mere moments for the cold water to wash over him and as it did the pain in his chest and lungs eased and his breathing became easier as the life sustaining liquid cleansed him as it always did further it made him feel strong, always strong. Without even a grunt of effort he pushed and flung the rubble off him as he stood agin ready to fight.

-ooOoo-

As the building gave way Powerhouse laughed uproariously at the carnage he'd caused.

"HAHAHAHAH!! fishbait after all. I tol..." His gloating was interrupted by a crashing sound as wreckage was flung aside and Mako stood before him ready to fight. Mako Charged out of the dust and debris and his fist slammed into Powerhouse's jaw and this time Mako grunted with the effort. The powerful blow slammed with a bonejarring crack that sounded like a rifle shot going off before the force of the blow lifted powerhouse up and slammed him headlong into the ground some 50 ft away landing in an unconscious heap.

Mako strode up to him and toed the body with a boot to the ribs. But only a low groan escaped from the defeated Powerhouse. Stepping to a payphone, Mako called the police to collect him, and inform them of the whereabouts of the money. Satisfied at the job he'd done. Mako sprang over the remains of the crashed bar with a leap like a dolphin into the sea.

Swimming through the seas like a bird flew through the air quickly the lights of fabled Atlantis came into view.

Dragoness

“You know, Siska.” Courtney Whitmore, the young woman known as Stargirl, had to speak up as she looked to her alien friend with an accusatory glance, the color of the lights changing around them in beat with the rave music that pumped though Metropolis’ “Night-Life” club. . “This is not what I had in mind when you said you wanted to ‘Immerse yourself in Local Culture.’”

“You’re complaining?”
Siska Hosskar asked incredulously.

“No. It’s just not what I expected.”
Stargirl replied, leaning back in her seat as she looked around. Dressed in form-fitting jeans and a mid-cut T-Shirt, She did feel slightly uncomfortable out of her costume. But she had to admit that it was nice to take some time off and go out somewhere without some emergency or mission for the league itself.
Seated next to her, overlooking the dance floor from the balcony restaurant that made up the second floor of the popular dance club, was her only real responsibility for the evening. The draconian girl named Siska watched the college kids and party-goers below with a very interested expression between the rim of the newsboy cap that hid her horns from sight and a pair of eye-concealing Dark-Glasses. Her top matched the hat in color and style and was complimented by the dark, stylish pants that the reptilian girl had somehow acquired. But in spite of the casual fashion , Courtney was quite aware that her friend’s tail and inhuman legs, each ending in three sharp claws, had drawn far more attention than her less than convincing attempt to blend into humanity above the hips.

She had a hard time remembering that she was still ‘technically’ on duty, but After spending the better half of her teenage years as a ‘Junior’ Member of the Justice League, she had to admit this was one of her better assignments, chaperoning and looking out for the friendly extra-terrestrial new-comer who happened to be developing a similar taste for fun that the twenty-three year old Super-Heroine had.

Had they been in most any other city, this would have caused more than a bit concern. Some places might have refused her entry while others could have gone as far as to call the authorities. But in Metropolis, unless something started to blow up or buildings came falling down, the people tried to shut out the strange and keep having a good time.

“According to J’onn, you can understand a lot about a people from the way they entertain themselves and if I’m going to be out here, it’ll may be useful to know about these kinds of place. They have these sorts of gatherings all over the planet, right?”

“Well, yeah. Most places. It’s a Club. People come here to dance, To have fun. Meet people. Unwind and get away from everyday life. What, you don’t have places like this on Thrai?”

“Oh, NO.”
Siska shook her head, a habit she had picked up over the last year. “You put this many of my people in a room, we don’t call it a party. We call it a battle.”

“Have I mention you’re people sound really screwed up?”

“Mannnny times.”
Siska smiled as she said it. “But at least they are honest to it. I don’t know what to think about this planet sometimes. I mean, from the Watch-Tower, you see so much chaos and madness going on down here on the surface. Mission Alerts, Natural Disasters, Crazy Terrorists and Would-Be Conquers. You would think the every day citizen would be a paranoid, jaded, nervous wreck. But here they are, out having fun and dancing . I mean, J’onn says the people the JLU fights are not a good basis for understanding Earth itself. But then you come to a place like this and it’s like whiplash, you know.”

“Yeah, but I don’t think that the Rave-Crowd is really a good example of the ‘every-day citizen’ you’re talking about.”

“Probably not, but there are more important things…”
Siska admitted, Looking up as three employees of the Club, all sporting the artistic markings on their skin she had learned humans referred to as Tattoos, approached the table with large trays in hand. “For instance...”

“Why am I not surprised?”
Courtney shook her head as one of the trays was set in front of her, a salad and several breadsticks on the plate while three 72-ounce steak dinners, complete with sides, were spread out in front of the Dragoness, who licked her scaled lips slightly with a forked tongue as the waiters, each one easily twice the girl’s size, backed away quickly. “Let me guess, Flash recommended the food?”

“Black Canary Actually.”

Stargirl smirked, rolling her eyes a bit as she got no further response while Siska proceeded to tear into the meal, the party forgotten for a moment while The Dragoness indulged.

Most new-comers to the league were eager, perhaps even over-eager to get started, to prove themselves. Stargirl could remember her own childish rivalry with Super-girl before the latter decided that it would be better for her to stay in the far future.
But Siska was different, patient and methodical in her examination and attempts to understand humanity and the way the Justice League worked. It was her species mindset, she supposed, being able to live so long afforded her one thing that humans almost never had enough of… ‘Time’

And Siska knew of course, that her time was coming soon.

Glaive

The music pulsed through the central city club, the voice of Kathrine Silva flowed from the stage and the dance floor soaked it all up. From the stage Kat bathed in the emotions that flooded the club, the joys, the lusts, and arkward feelings at comes with a night out. This was one of the best things about sharing your body with an alien bioweapon. Sid loved it when she played at the clubs, it soaked it up, and she drank it in.

When the last song of the set was done, she passed the floor to the DJ while the Kat's Claws took a break. Kat headed to the bar to get a drink. <Did you feel that.> the words more felt then heard as Sid stirred in reaction to something. Kat stopped and focused, sifting through the sea of emotion, Sid's presence guiding her to what it had sensed. There amidst the usual nightclub emotions was a spark of fear, bright and strong, and it was close. She scanned the crowd trying to spot it's source. A woman moved through the crowd, towards the back exit, terror ebbing of her in waves, spiking as she glanced over her shoulder towards the entrance. Kat cast her eye's towards the door, three men in suits and dark glasses filed in. They couldn't have looked more conspicuious if they tried. Especially, Kat noticed, since she could feel anything from them at all.

**********************************************************
Jessica had hoped the crowds would hide her, and they'd lose her trail. But when she turned around, there they were. She knew deep down that they wouldn't stop until they had her, but she had to try, she needed to find help. If only she could go to the police, but they couldn't help her. She made her way to the rear exit, hoping they wouldn't see her. Reaching the door, she took one last glance back. They'd seen her and were slowly making their way across the dance floor. She had to get out of here. She used the exit and fled into the back alley. If she could just get to a car or something. Jessica turned down the alley towards the street and stopped in her tracks. At the mouth of the alleyway, illuminated by the street lights were another two goons, and the last person she wanted to see. "Mr Johns.. I... I..."
"Doctor Mason, you disappoint me. I had hoped we'd moved passed all this."
"I won't let you corrupt my reseach any farther."
"I have grand designs Doctor. We are going to change the face of humanity. But we need you to do it. I can't let you run away from this. Now please, come along."
Jessica Mason tried to swallow her fear. "No, never again." A smile crept along Mr Johns face.
"I'm sorry. Did that sound like a request." As he spoke, the rear exit opened and the three men emerged."We believe the lady was quite clear," someone said as a figure dropped into the alley from the rooftop, dressed in a red skintight body suit, and black leather jacket. Raven hair flowed down to her back, eyes glowing green from behind a red domino mask. "she doesn't want to go with you." The words were a choir, like half a dozen voices speaking in unison.

************************************************************************
Mr Johns was a picture of calm. What ever his lackey were, he was just like anyone else, except that few people would be so calm in the face of a mysterious masked interloper. And the calm wasn't just a show. It surrounded him like a blanket. Here was a man who was confident in himself and those around him.
"I don't know who you are Ma'am, but this doesn't concern you." Mr Johns said, as his suited goons moved in to stand between him and Glaive, and he moved in to grab the woman they had followed.
"Your peons will not stop us."
"I think you'd be surpised." came Mr Johns reply.
Casually, Glaive reached forward and pushed a suit out of the way, all five reacted, with mechanical clicks, an arm of each folded out into somekind of canon. That explains alot she thought as Glaive was hit by five energy beams, sending her flying back into the shadows of the alley. A garage skip came sliding down the alley with the scream of metal scraping on concrete, hitting two of the robotic thugs, senting them into the street. The remaining three continued to fire as Glaive emerged sending a crushing kick into the nearest goon, sending it flying as it broke apart.
"Your tin soliders do not impress us." A small smile crossed Glaive's face as she felt Mr John's calm dissolve. "Stop her!" Mr John growled at his thugs as he pulled Doctor Mason with him towards the black sedan parked nearby. The next nearest suit raised it's weapon, which Glaive reached, crushing it in the process, and pulled it towards the alley way, twisting the gun arm around into an armlock, before smashing it's head into the brickwork. The next one first it's blaster, catching Glaive in the side, she winced, and dropped what was left of her last opponent. She took a step towards last one, before she was hit by a flying garage skip. The same one she had kicked earlier. The two bots who had been under it recalibrated their weapons with a whirr, and each fired a ball of energy, which exploded upon contact with the dumpster. As they approached, a hand reached out of the settling debris and reached the third goon standing nearby, Glaive pulled herself out of the rubble before throwing the robot thug at his fellows. One was quick enough to move out of the way, the other was struck by his counterpart, and the two crumpled into a twisted mess.

With a screech, the black sedan drove off, crossing Glaives path as it sped past. Without a word, Glaive punched her hand through the final thug, and fling it towards the car. The shot when long, landing just infront of the vehicle, which ran over the droid. With a choir of sighs, Glaive took two running steps forward and leapt. She sailed through the air, and landed on the hood of the car. The engine cluttered in protest, just before the hero forced her hand through the engine block, which brought the car to a spluttering stop.

Mr Johns scrambled for the door, which Glaive slammed closed, so hard it twisted the metal in place, allowing the young woman to climb out before doing to same to the that side. "The authorities will be on their way. We suggest you sit quietly." She turned to the woman. "We suggest you return to the club Miss, it would be safer in a crowd. Until the police clear the trash." She gives Johns one last look before leaping up to one of the near by buildings and disappearing from sight.
*********************************************************************
Sneaking back into the club from the roof, Glaive finds the backpack with her clothes, and removed the domino mask, her eyes returning to their natural blue as Sid retreated into the back of her mind, like a loyal puppy curling up at it's masters feel. <That was fun.> it indicated to her. She changed and returned to the bar to get that drink, glad to spot Dr Mason among the crowd, her mood still on edge, but grateful. Before she could finish her drink, she saw the guys setting up again, and Mike was waving her over.

So much for a break.

Songbird
HP: 1

The League of Shadows had been getting bold lately, stepping up their operations in the Orient. It was for this reason that Songbird, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle had been assigned to search a small, apparently deserted jungle island in the South Pacific for signs of their whereabouts.
To Songbird, this place almost felt like home.
To Booster Gold and Blue Beetle it was another forest to trudge through looking for bad-guys. It was slow going, for while Songbird and Booster could fly, poor Ted could not. Well, not now at least but as he was their ride home, they had to stay together.

The three had been making small talk as they searched. Songbird telling them of how this reminded her of her old home. Though the boys only really got interested in the story when Songbird said something they couldn't believe!

"Me and Diana are soulmates," Songbird said with a pleased chirp, "she loves me and I love her!"

"That's... " Booster Gold trailed off in awe.
"Nice..." Blue Beetle finished in equal awe. The two heroes looked at each other with a smirk as they almost psychically thought the same thing.

"I’ve seen you two together a lot lately? How close are you two?"

Songbird nodded, "Very… we share everything. Mind, body, soul." she cooed softly, " There's nothing we don’t share."

"Well, that's…. nice." Booster was flush with this forwardness, though he tried to keep it nonchalant.

She looked to Booster confused by his tone, "Is something wrong with this?"

Ted shook his head. "Of course not, Songbird, Booster just likes to let his imagination run a bit."

She smiled to him, "But you don’t need to Imagine, it is not unlike the two of you, Diana says you are close, like we are."

The Justice Leaguer’s jaws dropped at once. They looked at each other a moment, blushing furiously, and then back to her.

"No no no.”

“We’re not…”

“Not Ever…”

“NEVER Ever.”

"Are you two not like brothers?" she asked, her crest raising a bit as she cocked her head to the side in confusion "That's how Diana describes you. That you are like Brothers while we are Sister?”

"Oooooh," the two said again almost simultaneously, visibly relaxing.

"Like that, huh," Booster smiled, "Yeah, I guess."

Songbird’s eyes narrowed on the two of them, her taloned hands on her hips.

“What did you think I meant?”

The Two Superheroes, Veteran Leaguers who each had faced down a myriad of evil forces shared a look of dread, the blush returning to their faces.

Fortunately for them, it was at this point that the Ninjas attacked.
The discussion halted instantly as the three of them fought off the League of Shadows attackers, And never before had the Blue Beetle and Booster Gold been so happy to have been ambushed.

Mako
Prince Aric of Atlantis never liked the idea of a direct energy-matter transporter hidden away in the base-level of the Royal Palace. While it was true that the King had placed defensive areas around the Transporter that could be locked down into a buffer if it were ever to be used against Atlantis, it still felt like the one chink in the otherwise impenetrable armor of Atlantis’ Defenses.
But one thing he couldn’t deny was how convenient it was to be able to spend a restful night in his own bed, and in a matter of moments to be far above the waves and surface of the world.

The lights in his eyes faded in mere moments as the excess salt-water caught in the teleportation field splashed to the floor of the technological marvel that was the main headquarters of the Justice League Unlimited.
But who greets him is not who he expects at all.

“Your Highness.” The Dark Toned Surface-Worlder nodded, his trademark jacket, lined with the words ‘Fair-Play’ identifying him immediately as ‘Mr. Terrific’, the League’s Defacto Intelligence Coordinator. Prince Aric had often seen him at the main communications station overhead, but had never actually spoken to the man directly before.

“It’s good you’ve arrived, we almost thought that there had been a complication. We have had a few issues with orbital communications this morning, so Things have have become a bit jumbled. I’m afraid Aquaman and Tempest have both opted to remain in Atlantis to assess the current situation.” Mr. Terrific explained at a breakneck Speed, his mind obviously on a hundred different things as Mako noticed the Watchtower’s staff moving around at a hectic pace while several groups of costumed heroes were apparently getting directives from other ‘intellectuals’ of the Justice League.

Something was definitely going on.

“Ah, yes. Price Aric. This is The Bat-Boy… he’ll fill you in on what is happening.” Mr. Terrific brought the Atlantian Prince’s attention for the first time to the young man at his side, who stayed behind even as he left.

He was Five Foot, Five…MAYBE pushing Five’, Eight” with the pointed ‘ears’ that gave him a glancing similarity to his obvious namesake. Although he looked fit and was dressed in the Grey and Black with a cape that was customary of one of a very few men that the King of Atlantis openly respected, this Bat-Boy was hardly an impressive figure.

Great…
His first real crisis alongside the League and he was going to be sat down at the Kids Table.

Glaive

Kat and Sid never did get tired of this.
They had been on board the Watchtower several times before today, of course. Making a video for the League’s Records, A basic introduction to a few Key Members alongside J’onn… And of course, Meeting Superman Himself just over a month ago.
But when she woke up this morning, she had not expected to have message waiting for her. The Location sent from the Number J’onn had specified as being emergency JLU business directing her to the back ally of a diner for a Teleportation Lock. And now walking down the hallway from a side teleportation room, she had to suppress herself as she casually passed several of the World’s Finest moving down the Corridors.
The Vixin, Vigilante, and the enormous brute known as Atom Smasher moving past her as she navigated her way to the central Hub of the Station itself.
Not Surprisingly, there was someone already waiting for her.

“Glaive. You arrived, Good.”
J’onn Jonzz nodded over to her as she came into view. “I apologize for the sudden rush, but there has been a development over the last few hours that has us concerned. I had hoped that there would be more time for orientation, but the nature of the situation has led to a full call-out. I believe the saying goes: ‘All Hands on Deck’. "

“J’onn? What is going on? Did the Cafeteria run out of chicken salad again?”

The… creature… that came up to the Martian Manhunter was something that Glaive had never seen before. It walked upright like a girl and had a basic form, but the legs, arms, horns, and the long purplish tail rather gave away the fact that she wasn’t exactly from Kansas.
Any doubts that Kathrine had about Sid making her feel ‘different’ from the rest of humanity seemed rather small as she found herself face to face with an actual, HONEST Alien.

“Ah, Siska, no, I am afraid this is a bit more serious than that.”

“They ran out of the bread pudding?”

“Glaive… Allow me to introduce you to Siska Hosskar, the Dragoness.”

———————————————————————————————————————————————--------------------------------
Dragoness

If Siska could describe the people that worked on the Watchtower with one word, it would be ‘Generous’. Having lived on the station almost exclusively for over a year now, the people that worked here had taken a liking to the inquisitive Draconian and more than a few had struck up a casual friendship with the creature.
Only a few months ago, they held a human cultural celebration they called an ‘anniversary’ to commemorate a full planetary rotation marking her arrival, in which she was gifted with quite a few additions to her growing wardrobe.

The only downside she had found to such a collection was deciding what to wear from day to day.
Having gone with the darker colors the night before when she had went out with Stargirl, Siska decided on a green jumpsuit to offset her pale and magenta scales today, only just completing the ensemble when the speaker beeped.

“Yes?”

“Siska, We need your presence immediately in Central Ops.”
J’onn’s voice came over the speaker clearly as the Dragoness fluffed her hair (a newer feature that she loved and hated depending on the situation).

Dragoness paused for a moment in shock as the thought about what was asked.

“You need… My help?” She was more than a little surprised.

“There is a situation Planetside that is requiring a full League Response.” The Martian Explained, before more calmly informing her. “It’s time, Siska.”

The Dragoness looked into the full length mirror, steeling herself for a moment before nodding.

“I’m on my way.”
————

The Central Opts is abuzz with activity, and while she does get a few nods, Siska realizes that the others she is familiar with from the Watchtower are all quite engrossed with their current duties and can’t stop to say anything. In the time she has been here, she has never seen the League Assembled in force quite like this.

After a few minutes of looking around, she finally sights the Martian speaking to an attractive young human woman.

“J’onn? What is going on? Did the Cafe run out of chicken salad again?”

“Ah, Siska, no, I am afraid this is a bit more serious than that.”

“They ran out of the bread pudding?”

“Glaive… Allow me to introduce you to Siska Hosskar, the Dragoness.”

Batboy

Scott and Red Robin walked alongside one another as the former Boy Wonder and the Batwoman’s Partner continued into the briefing room.
It was still early Morning back in Gotham, the Sun having barely and Scott only just getting s couple of hours of shuteye before he had been awakened by Red Robin.

Normal people would have complained about the rush. But as Scott Kane donned Cape and Cowl, he knew that he was hardly ‘normal people’.

Something that was even more apparent when he entered the briefing room and saw who was in attendance.

J’onn Jonzz, Mr. Terrific, Steel, Orion, The Question, Doctor Light, Aztek, The Atom, and the Entire Bat-Family was in attendance. The Brains of the Entire League.

And he was here, easily the youngest person in the room, counted among them.

“Now that Everybody is here, I’ll be brief.”

Conducting the briefing was Batman himself, looking over the room of scientists and super-geniuses.
Not a single voice among those assembled questioned this as a hologram of Earth was brought up

“Three days ago, The Watchtower began to pick up signs of Kramer-Hasson radiation in Seventeen specific Points around the world. At first, it was barely detectable and localized within an area less than two meters wide. Within Twelve Hours, we had confirmation that the levels had increased by over a hundred-fold… Six hours later, they had grown in intensity enough to attract the attention of the the Green Lantern Corp’s base of operations in Oa.”

There was a Low-whistle from someone in the group while Scott felt slightly lost. Thankfully, somebody else managed to ask the question before he could feel like an idiot.

“I’m a nano-tech expert and this is outside of my purview, Batman, so you’ll understand if I ask what Kelsey-Hopkins Radiation is…” The Atom asked.

Dr. Light moved towards the hologram to Batman’s side.

“Kramer-Hasson Radiation was a formerly theoretical energy signature that is supposed to be found only on the accretion disks of developing realities. It’s part of the Damstron Theory of Existance, stating that there are multiple interlocking dimensions in all various spacial directions. The Theoretical Scientists Julian Kramer and Johan Hasson put forward the theory that a layer of energy acted as a sort of ‘shock-absorber’ between realities.”

“Until these readings were detected by the Watchtower, this was only a theory as no known scientists had ever been able to measured it. Apparently, this was also true of the Guardians of the Universe, who were as surprised as we were.” Batman continued. “They have dispatched Green Lantern investigators, as well as several Abstract Science experts from several of their allied societies, but that will take time that we may not have.”

“There have been no physical or obvious signs of the radiation, and with the exception of the Watchtower and some exceedingly advanced extra-terrestrial sensors, nobody else has managed to detect it.Obviously we have been watching the locations since it was discovered. And trying to discern it’s nature and weather it poses a danger has so far yielded no answers.” Doctor Light continued. “This Morning, at around Two AM Eastern Standard Time, all of the radiation epicenters started emitting a Low-Pulse signal that has been randomly effecting communications planet-wide. We don’t know what we are facing here, but given the scale of what is happening, the entire League is being mobilized to have Manned Observation on all Seventeen Points in force should this phenomenon pose a threat.”

“Each Radiation Point has been graded on priority and danger due to it’s geographic location and hazards. You will each be assigned to a team to give a run-down to the situation and we’ll be distributing any new information directly to you for dissemination towards the other members of your respective groups. Atom, I need you in Metropolis with Superman and Red Tornado…”

As Batman started to list off the assignments, Scott tried to steady himself.
This was the real thing… and HE was being put into the position as the co-ordinator of a team all his own.

For just a moment, Scott caught the eye of the Batwoman, who nodded slightly, but offered nothing else.

It was time for him to fly…

“Bat-Boy.” The Batman didn’t miss a beat, drawing the teen’s attention. “Mister Terrific will escort you to meet up with other members of Reserve Team Epsilon, Once the reserve team is assembled, You’ll be transported to Point 9, located in San Adesia, California. Any Questions?”

A short time later, Mister Terrific had led Scott to the main transport pads in the Main Operations Center, just in time to see a blue and black clad young man, only a few years older than himself, stepping off the pad soaking wet.

“Your Highness.”
Mr. Terrific nodded to the new-comer.
A title… Color scheme… the smell of salt water…
Oh Crud… An Atlantian Royal.

Terrific explained at a breakneck Speed, his mind obviously on a hundred different things.
Batboy noticed someone at the Ops center overhead waving for his attention, causing the World’s Second Smartest Man to nod and break off, turning slightly to Scott.

“Ah, yes. Price Aric. This is The Bat-Boy… he’ll fill you in on what is happening.” Mr. Terrific brought the Atlantian Prince’s attention for the first time to the young man at his side, who stayed behind even as he left.

Great…
His first Real Crisis alongside the League, and he had to tutor the Prince of the Waves.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Songbird

“And there you go, Good as New.” The Medical Officer nodded as she helped Songbird fold her wing into place, having hurt it slightly in the battle with the League of Shadows strike team the day before. “You shouldn’t have any more problems with this wing, but I do advise the next time you try to dive at a Ninja from up high, watch out for low hanging branches.”

She had to admit, the doctors here were quite skilled, having apparently had plenty of time to learn how to treat avian type anatomy from a LARGE amount of experience with Hawkgirl. But things were hardly calm when she, Blue Beetle, and Gold Booster had returned, although she had had time to sleep on it, the sudden buzz of activity since her arrival back had been apparent even from the infirmary.

“And with a clean bill of health, I think it’s time we got back to work, if you’re feeling up for it, Song.”
Diana nodded, standing up from having watched.

As the Wonder-Woman checked the lasso at her hip, ensuring it’s place, it’s obvious to Songbird that something something is bearing on her mind. While the Amazonian Sister offers to help her up, there is a feeling in the air that there may be some news that she is not wanting to give up to Songbird just yet.

Dragoness’ part was done in Concert with NoLifeQueen. One of the perks of living with the Player I guess.
I think we all understand that time is not a fixed concept, so feel free to put things in the order that you see it happening in and have at for the RP. Also, this version is invalidating the Canon that was set by Batman Begins since the future isn’t set… therefore, Tim Drake did not quit being Robin in the DC Animated Universe and has recently graduated to the Title of ‘Red Robin’ from the comics continuity.

And with that, Everybody Enjoy everybody.

Mako
HP: 1
Condition: Predatory Appraising

The night had been a quiet one at home for Prince Aric with only the disruption of a celebratory Birthday dinner for his now 2 years old Baby Sister. Little Rachel was a joy and it seemed had inherited his mothers appearance and his fathers gifts as she was remarkably able to swim at an age when most Atlantean children had to be podded along by there mothers till they could swim on their own. Their had even been whispers that the young lady might have inherited some level of sorcerous ability, If that is he'd understood what Tempest was telling him. He'd resolved to look further into the situation at a future date by consulting The Master Mage himself Doctor Fate. Nominally he'd have had Atlantises Best Magi look into the matter, but in this case he felt an outsider might be better suited and less inclined to a biased opinion.

The next day dawned bright and early as the lenses of Atlantises Fabled Solarium were allowed to open as they did every day at dawn. The Hemispherical building was more then just a shiney monument to Atlantean ingenuity, it was also The Atlanteans main source of Power for Fabled Atlantis. It used the enormous power of a Hybrid Geo-Thermal tap and Desalinization modulator to create a clean and renewable energy source which when channeled through the lenses gave off a bright light akin to a small but warm sun. When reflected off of Atlantises Domes and Spires it made the city glow like a treasure trove of gemstones in the deep of Mother ocean; a true treasure of the fathoms. And at night the lenses would close or in some cases they would grow transluscent as the Solarium would become the equivalent of the Moon, and thus did the Atlantean people follow the passing of the Sun, Moon, and Stars and keep in their own way the passage of time in the Immortal depths.

It was this shining of light through his window that awakened the young prince along with the happy tittering of a small voice that was engaged in the happy babble of a two year old.

"Hello little one." He yawned sleepily while taking the brightly smiling infant in one hand and pulling her squealing with joy onto his bare shoulders. "Now how did you get away from Ferina again Rachel, You know mother worries when you do that." he scolded his little sister gently and bemusedly as he went in search of the certian to be frantic Nanny who had helped to raise him as a child as well. Little Rachel merely answered in her gigling baby talk as they left his room. "How in the name of the 7 seas is she able to do this, I really need to have that conversation with Fate." He sighed inwardly. His thoughts were interrupted as his Mother Rosalyn came into the room with a frantic Ferina behind her.

"There you are young lady!" Rosalyn exhaled as she saw her children together. while 52 years of age his mother still looked amazing for her age--Atlantean medicine had done wonders obviously--and with the advent of the OxyHydros pill a simple genetic retrovirus which could temporarily rewrite a human gene structrue to an Atlantean one his mother could spend time down with them both.

"MaMa!" the infant squeeled and reached for her with two pudgy hands, at least thats what Aric told himself he heard allowing the corners of his lips to quirk upward slightly. He thought he'd been subtle but his mother noticed and couldnt help but tease him.

"Careful Aric.." she teased. "Continue to do that and your face will get stuck that way." She smiled mischievously and held up baby Rachel as an example, the surprisingly coral pink haired infants face split by a wide happy smile that went all the way to her sea green eyes.

He couldnt help himself and a small but genuine laugh erupted from his chest. One of the few he'd been able to muster since his fathers passing less then 2 years ago. His thoughts were interrupted as his mother seeming to sense as she always could some how turned his thoughts to more current matters. "So are you going to the Watchtower today?"

"Yes Mother, The King wants me to investigate some strange happenings above. The League seems to think this is a world wide phenomenon." he paused a moment looking suprisingly uncertain for the normaly bold young Prince. "I want you and Rachel to stay here Mother, things on the surface may be unsafe...' he began only for Rosalyn to rise up on her tippytoes--hardly neccesary given the watery enviornment--but still a habit, and kiss her son on the cheek causing him to blush.

"Dont worry, it seems King Orin agrees and besides Mera asked me to bring the baby by for a while it seems she wants a playmate for young Arthur Junior." His mothers smile was brillaint and fileld with good humor as if she were always smiling at some private joke she refused to share.

Nodding in responce he turned and ruffled Rachels coral pink hair before kissing his mother on the cheek. Poor Ferina looked upset so he laid a gentle and understanding hand on her shoulder reassuringly. He could only imagine the older womans emotional state. it mustve been diffuclt enough dealing with him as child much less his remarkable sister.

After breakfast and a brief meeting with The King for final instructions and encouragement he bid farewell to his family and stepped onto the teleporter. while the notion of the Surface world having any capability to access Atlantis was an upsetting thought, he was pragmatic enough to know that it was a useful tool, and besides the King had taken precautions to guard the site. Also pragmatically it went both ways he reminded himself.

the Flash of light faded from his eyes and he took a deep breath of the recycled air in the station, the scents of a hundred or more people of varying stripes and jobs came to him as they always did when he came here, ti was a fascinating slice of life for him, except for this time when the scents carried to him a new series of smells. The scents of anxiety, adrenaline, even fear were present in the many people rushing to and fro. He could see the stations power output was increased as the various terminals drew on more energy to power their calculations, and provide energy for more transports as others came and went. And the tremors as hundreds of feet rushed to and fro seemed to indicate that the day was going to be more exiting then he thought.

Prince Aric had often seen him at the main communications station overhead, but had never actually spoken to the man directly before

Aric looked down and nodded in acknowledgement to Mister Terrific while he'd met the Intelligence Coordinator before--he made it a habit to know all about the people he was working with-- he'd had few opportunities to ever converse directly so this was a new and novel experience.

Listening intently even over the huslte and bustle he kept a cool expression as he was brought up to speed.

“Ah, yes.

Glancing curiously at the person standing to his side Mako's eyes narrowed slightly at the newcomers choice of uniform. The uniform was something that gave even the Prince pause. it was a uniform that demanded respect and symbol not worn lightly, asymbol nearly as important as a certian Red "S". That the young teenager wore it here among the worlds mightiest heroes without consequence spoke volumes.

Not mind you that Aric would make it easy on him, for it also meant the young man would need to work extra hard to earn the respect of that symbol. The glance Mako sent the young man alone was intimidating because it was the look of a predator sizing up prey, the cold look of a shark as it trys to decide whether something is edible before it takes a bite out of it.

Raising his hand Mako nodded in introduction to the young warrior who had the audacity to wear the bat. "Prince Aric of Atlantis" he introduced himself his voice cool and betraying no more emotion then simple courtesy "Here though I am known as Mako." His grip was firm not bone shatteirng as it could have been, he had no need for grand introductions or the juvenile theatrics of that sort. His actions would speak for him when the time came.

Mako's Mother Rosalyn just for future reference

Glaive

"Sorry guys. Something's come up, I've got to bail on you."
Kat explained as she slipped her phone into her pocket, looking around Toby's basement to her friends as she collected her bag. The band were still tuning their instuments preparing for some practice. "Sure thing Kittycat." Paul shrugged before plucking a couple of strings, grimacing at the sound and make another adjustment. "Need a lift?" Mike offered. The two of them took turns to give the other a ride to Tobias', as they only lived down the road from eachother. "Nah, getting a pick up. Catch you guys later." She hit the street and found a good spot to change.

As Glaive leapt from rooftop to rooftop, she thought about the message that had caused her hasty departure. It looked like there something serious going on. Sid buzzed with interest, Kat tinged with nerves. They had never received an emergeny signal before from the League. This had to be something big. Upon reaching the location the message had given, she was teleported up to the Watchtower, Justice League central. Kat felt Sid quirm a little. It never liked being teleported. The moment they got their bearings, Glaive knew that her suspision had been right. the air on the watchtower was electricfied with emotions, fear, concern, alarm, some held in firmer check then others. She closed her eyes a moment to get take it in. She could tell that there was more activity on board then any other time she had come to station. The level of concerning and frighten emotions in the air, she almost expected the find the Watchtower in flames when her eye's opened again.

She took a breath and headed down the hallway, even in chaos, she couldn't but help to take note of all the faces... so to speak, that she saw. Less then a year ago, she use to see these faces only on the news... mighty heroes, defenders of justice. She was still getting used to being numbered among them. Hell, a month ago she had come face to face the big S himself. She was pretty sure that if Sid hadn't been there, she would have fainted.. then again, if Sid hadn't been there, she would never have gotten here.

As she neared the central hub, she was greeted by a familiar face. J'onn Jonzz.

Siska wasn't the first alien that Glaive had met, she had helped and fought a few since Sid, who was actually her first extraterrestial encounter, crossed her path. She couldn't help but smile a little at the dragon's manner.

"We are pleased to meet you Siska." Her voice chorused as Sid stepped in to join the greeting, holding out a hand in welcome. Once the pleasantries were out of the way, she turned back to the martian. "What kind of development would require the entire League?" she queried with concern.

BATBOY

“Now that everybody is here, I’ll be brief.”

Scott Kane, Batboy, stood at attention, his posture rigid thanks to the years of military training and discipline passed on to him from his mother, Katherine Kane, known as Batwoman within the Watchtower. Despite having met his namesake several times in the recent past, Batman never failed to impress Scott. His presence was amazing; intimidating yet commanding the utmost respect and inspiring confidence that there wasn't a situation he couldn't handle. Katherine had nothing but admiration for the Batman as well. She would often recount the story of how the Dark Knight had swooped in one night and defended her from a group of muggers, which motivated her to don a cape of her own. And then Batwoman intervened and saved Scott on that fateful night, and now here he was, among the smartest and most talented the Justice League had to offer.

Scott knew well that he was incredibly skilled, but never before had he felt like such a child. It certainly didn't help that, despite his great intellect, this subject matter was out of his purview. Kramer-what? He could only imagine how demeaning it would look, the kid raising his hand to ask for an explanation. Thank goodness for the Atom, though; Scott had to contain his sigh of relief when the shrinking hero confessed to being lost.

As Batman began to list the teams to be deployed to the seventeen points around Earth, Scott stole a nervous glance to his mother. He was going to be coordinator of his team. He was going to be expected to lead a group of new League members. It was at this point Scott cursed his choice of name and appearance. Why did he decide to become a mini Dark Knight? People would obviously compare him to Batman, and Scott was not the Caped Crusader by any stretch. Scott needed some form of reassurance, but a nod was all he received. He wasn't disappointed, though; he knew that's the only comfort his mother would give. As she had stated more than once, "I'm a goddamn soldier." It was time for him to be one, too.

“Batboy.” The Batman didn’t miss a beat, drawing the teen’s attention. “Mister Terrific will escort you to meet up with other members of Reserve Team Epsilon. Once the reserve team is assembled, you’ll be transported to Point 9, located in San Adesia, California. Any questions?”

"No,sir," Batboy answered honestly. And with that, Mister Terrific led him off.

-

A short time later, Mister Terrific had led Scott to the main transport pads in the Main Operations Center, just in time to see a blue and black clad young man, only a few years older than himself, stepping off the pad soaking wet.

“Your Highness.” Mr. Terrific nodded to the new-comer.
A title… color scheme… the smell of salt water… Oh Crud… An Atlantian Royal.

Terrific explained at a breakneck Speed, his mind obviously on a hundred different things.

Batboy noticed someone at the Ops center overhead waving for his attention, causing the World’s Second Smartest Man to nod and break off, turning slightly to Scott.

“Ah, yes. Price Aric. This is The Batboy… he’ll fill you in on what is happening.”

As Mister Terrific departed, Batboy looked at the Atlantian Mako in the eye. He had to cock his neck slightly to so; the man had six inches over Scott, and at least 100 pounds. And already Scott could see that he was eyeing the symbol on his chest with suspicion. Would this guy really allow a teenager to lead?

"Prince Aric," Batboy said, making sure to refer to him by his title just as one would for a commanding officer. He returned the firm handshake. "I suppose you're wondering what the emergency is?" Scott continued as he made his way over to the nearest available computer. He worked away at the keys as he spoke. "In seventeen spots around the world, there has been a massive surge of Kramer-Hasson Radiation. It's a form of energy given off when adjacent dimensions rub off on one another." He tried his best to say it as if he known the fact his whole life, and not just for all of five minutes. "There haven't been any signs of trouble resulting from the radiation, except for disrupting global communications like Mister Terrific mentioned, but the League is still deploying teams to all seventeen points to observe and report. I will be the coordinator for you and the rest of Reserve Team Epsilon as we head here," Batboy hit another key, and a zoom in on the West Coast of the United States appeared, "San Adesia, California."

Batboy turned his head from the computer screen and back to Mako, a smirk on his face. "Now that that's out of the way, how about we get to know one another?" If Prince Aric was expecting a conversation to strike up, however, he was wrong, for Batboy returned his attention to the computer. He began pulling up the League records for the members of Reserve Team Epsilon. Anything personal or otherwise not public knowledge was obviously off limits to the likes of Batboy, but he did find the overview of power and capabilities.

"Let's see, Prince Aric... Typical Atlantian physiology: super-strength, ability to communicate with sea creatures, and a fast healer. Dragoness... Ability to understand all languages, rapid adaptation to her environment, and super-strength. Glaive... Mental powers, capable of regeneration, aaaaand more super-strength. Seriously, do all of you people have super-strength?" The question was only half rhetorical. "Ah, here we go. Songbird. Capable of winged flight and has razor-sharp talons. And NO super-strength." The manner in which Batboy spoke was so dry (nothing unlike his namesake) yet just lightly laced with sarcasm that it was difficult to tell how serious he ever was.

So, is Watchtower III in space or still on the ground?

Songbird
HP: 1

Ninjas. Ninjas everywhere. Songbird had never seens so many camoflaged men before in her life. Technically she didn't see them until they popped out, but that was beside the point. This was not the first scuffle Songbird had been in. Her time with Diana had made her quite a scrapper in her own right. Though she was no warrior princess.

She took out the weaker looking ninjas, swooping in and slicing with her talons, dragging a few high above the tree tops and letting them fall through said trees. Her two compatriotes made due with the tougher ones. Blue Beetle and Booster Gold made her proud on the comparison of her and Diana being like them. They worked so well together, like they were mates for life.

The League of Shadows's cell eventually was dismantled by the three superheroes. Well, hopefully. It wan't the main cell, but other Leaguers were out their in the field trying to take out the other cells that seemed to be popping up. That and there were some really hard hitting things out there. She swore she saw one of them grow a tree right then and there. The one that caught her wing. Though she was not sure. Diana called it 'magic'. Songbird did not care for this magic, but it had it's uses some times.

The trip home was quick, but not quick enough. Blue Beetle's carrier could only go so fast before getting to the Watchtower. Songbird had to spend the night in the medical bay. Her hollow bones helped her fly, but they were not made for getting hit unaware. Though being a painful ordeal, she had Diana there with ther most of the time, so she could take her mind off of the pain. They told stories to each other when they were together. Diana of her fierce warrior culture. Songbird of her people's defensive and territorial, but mostly pacifist ways.

When all was said and done, the medical people had fixed Songbird up well. Though Songbird had been paying attention to Diana's mood. It was troubling to see her troubled. When Diana reached for her hand, Songbird slowly got up and held the Amazon's hand in hers, looking at her questioningly with a smile, as if to ask what was the matter. "I am always ready to assist you and the Justice League," she tweeted aloud and happily. Looking around she then leaned into Diana's ear and whispered, "If there is anything I can help you with personally, just ask." She pulled back and made eye contact again then nodded. "So what do we plan to do today, Diana?"

Mako
HP: 1
Condition: Not yet impressed

"Prince Aric," Batboy said, making sure to refer to him by his title just as one would for a commanding officer. He returned the firm handshake. "I suppose you're wondering what the emergency is?" Scott continued as he made his way over to the nearest available computer. He worked away at the keys as he spoke. "In seventeen spots around the world, there has been a massive surge of Kramer-Hasson Radiation. It's a form of energy given off when adjacent dimensions rub off on one another." He tried his best to say it as if he known the information his whole life, and not just for all of five minutes. "There haven't been any signs of trouble resulting from the radiation, except for disrupting global communications like Mister Terrific mentioned, but the League is still deploying teams to all seventeen points to observe and report. You, I, and the rest of Reserve Team Epsilon will be heading here," Batboy hit another key, and a zoom in on the West Coast of the United States appeared, "San Adesia, California."

Mako quietly followed at the "Batboys" side listening intently but giving no outward acknolwegdment of anything said, content for the moment to listen and observe. As Batboy explained the situation he thought briefly to what he'd discussed earlier with King Arthur before arriving here, and Batboys precise analysis had confirmed the findings of Atlantean scientists. This after all was not the first run in with such dimensional energies, twice before in recent history Atlantis had recorded such phenomena. Once when the elder horrors unleached by the dread Icthullu attempted to break through into the world forcing the King to do battle with the league in order to stop them. Aric remebered that day well he had thrown himself into battle even though he was barely 16 years of age. It had been a terrifying and exhilerating experience.

Of course the second time had been just as, if not more dangerous, when the forces of Apokalypse had invaded, Atlantis itself had fallen under attack, and though the invaders were swiftly repelled, A lot of damage was done. If this were indeed another invasion then given the sheer number of events detected, Prince Aric had no doubts that they would be in for a fight.

Quickly he studied the landscape around the site to determine both its tactical and strategic value to both Attackers if any, and defender which he would soon be. The fact that it was near the ocean filled him with a greater confidence, then normal.

If battle came he would be ready.

Anything personal or otherwise highly invasive was off limits to the likes of Batboy, but he did find the overview of power and capabilities.

"Let's see, Prince Aric... Typical Atlantian physiology: super-strength, ability to communicate with sea creatures, and a fast healer. Dragoness... Ability to understand all languages, adaptation to her environment, and super-strength. Glaive... Mental powers, capable of regeneration, aaaaand more super-strength. Seriously, do all of you people have super-strength?" The question was only half rhetorical. "Ah, here we go. Songbird. Capable of winged flight and has razor-sharp talons. And NO super-strength." The manner in which Batboy spoke was so dry yet just lightly laced with sarcasm that it was difficult to tell how serious he ever was.

He wasnt quite expecting a conversation, so the only response to Batboys comment was a slightly raised eyebrow, and a stoney silence. Still though Mako again showed no outward sign of interest, Batboys training allowed him enough insight into the Atlantean to see those Ice blue eyes studying every detail of the files and the combat capabilities of the others with an intensity that Batboy was certain would melt the screen if he stared at it any longer.

It was only after Batboy finished that Aric spoke cooly, his tone like ice not condescending but not yet friendly either.

"Superior."

"Huh?" was Batboys only reply as the word came out of left field blind siding the teenage crimefighter.

Makos response remained frigid "You said typical Atlantean physique, that is not correct. My physique is superior to my fellow Atlanteans by a factor of over 500 times. The KIngs phsyique is superior to his subjects by a factor of some 250 times in terms of muscle resillience, reflex strength, and bone tissue desnity. Mine is superior to his." He corrected Batboy in a tone that Batboy recognized was not one of bragadacio, or arrogance.

He had heard this type of tone before from the Batman himself when he was stating a simple fact. It was the tone of someone who was so certian of themselves that they had no concept of failure or defeat. His mother had taught him to project that same tone in his own way to any criminals he might run across.

Mako was stating something that to him was as much a truth as someone saying Superman wore a red cape.

Looking down at Batboy Makos voice lost a bit of the chill in it but the firm tone in which he spoke told Batboy that how he treated him from this point on would depend on his answer.

"What is "Your" opinion on the events occcuring below?" Makos Ice blue eyes were as cold as a Gotham Winter as he awaited his answer.

hehe these two are going to have an interesting friendship :D

as an aside for a voice for Mako Imagine Will Friedle channeling a bit of his Batman Beyond and a bit of his Lion-O voices. Young but with a fierce presence.

as an aside A KS Tactics roll 22 to access the situation both abroad and at the site they're going to, looking for obvious points of attack, and defence, and any high value targets that a potential invader might have chosen that spot for.

also how best to integrate the strengths and weaknesses of the team assigned to him.

Dragoness
"We are pleased to meet you Siska." Her voice chorused as Sid stepped in to join the greeting, holding out a hand in welcome.

Siska tilted her head a bit hearing the strange human's voice. There was an odd resonance about it that gave Glaive an almost lyrical quality, something she would certainly have to ask about later.

"Likewise, But J'onn and I already know one another so, I guess it's good to meet you."

Siska's voice and somewhat excitable nature tended to put humans at ease, although weather it was because it made her seem less intelligent or because she tried to be as friendly as possible, she didn't know. She didn't really understand why so many of the 'heroes' acted so broody all of the time in any case.

"What kind of development would require the entire League?" she queried with concern.

"Yeah, is the planet under attack? Did somebody rob a really big bank? I don't think I've ever seen so many people up here before, I mean not all at once anyways." The Dragoness tried to contain herself a little bit, but was unable to have the same level of 'concern' as she was far too excited by the events that were transpiring, even if she wasn't entirely sure what they were.

In terms of voice for Dragoness, I would have to pick America Ferrerra, who voiced Astrid in the movie " How to Train your Dragon. Tried to find a good clip from the movie with her talking, but couldn't find much. Besides, if you haven't seen the movie, go buy it. Good stuff.
And maybe right now, a dash of 'Pinkie-Pie' excitability. Although this is not a common occurrence for her, she's just excited at the moment

BATBOY

"Superior."

"Hm?" Batboy mused, facing the Atlantian's cold stare as he corrected Scott's assessment of his capabilities. Most people would interpret Mako's statements as overwhelmingly cocky. To call oneself superior than the King of Atlantis? There wasn't a chance Batboy would even begin to compare himself to the Dark Knight. Scott could sense Mako's sincerity, though, and he actually admired his matter of fact claims; Scott knew he would be a good teammate to have at his side. Military training with Batwoman, however, taught him to be dismissive to even that which is most impressive. He recalled a time when, after single-handedly clearing a room of two dozen thugs, his mentor called his form sloppy and made him get down and do fifty push-ups. And there was no way he could give this Atlantian the satisfaction of regarding his abilities.

"Well, excuse me, Prince." Again, his delivery was so deadpan his sincerity came into serious question.

"What is "your" opinion on the events occurring below?"

Batboy wrapped himself in his cape and began pacing back and forth, thinking of all he had been considering since learning of the situation. With his long cloak covering his body from neck to feet, his movements appeared like a hovering specter. "Well, for starters, I don't believe there's any way that this is a natural phenomenon. A previously theoretical energy suddenly appearing all around the world? And THEN the locations begin emitting a signal that disturbs global communications? That doesn't just happen. Something-or someone-is definitely behind this. Trying to make sure there's little chance to organize a counterattack when they launch a massive invasion?

"The most obvious being capable of cross-dimensional travel and with a sizable enough army to pose a threat seems to be Darkseid, but... I doubt it. He's been gone for years, and even if he was back certainly he would know that the Watchtower would pick up on the Kramer-Hasson Radiation, provided the hours the Justice League has been given to do so. He would also know that his technology wouldn't do anything more than just inconvenience the Watchtower's communications. Finally, if the League had an inkling that Darkseid was behind all of this, there's no chance they would send a Reserve team in. My best guess is that it's something unaware of this reality's potential and the superheroes that reside here." He stopped walking and faced Mako. "But the fact remains that neither the Justice League nor even the Guardians of Oa know what's happening, so we can only hope that our mission provides any evidence."

Scott approached Prince Aric, drawing so close he could smell the salt water still dripping from him. He glared at the Atlantian with the intensity that was capable of causing criminals spill any information Batboy desired; the first showing of open hostility he had displayed. It was clear that Mako was going to be a unruly soldier: his icy gaze was loaded with uncertainty of Batboy's skill, he made an effort to correct him, and Scott could tell the question was meant as a judge of his assessment abilities. Indeed, Batboy felt like Mako needed to be put in line sooner rather than latter. "No matter what, this will be my first official mission with the Justice League, and I refuse to let anything get in the way of success. Understand now: I don't care if you're 1,000 times greater than a typical Atlantian, just remember who the League has decided to be in charge here. I'm not looking for your respect, Prince, just your cooperation."

He added, "Now how about we find the rest of the team so we can depart?" The two just needed the intervention of others to alleviate the growing tension.

Yeah, I can certainly see a Rivalry Complication forming here. As I tried to show, it seems like it will be that kind of relationship where they have a mutual respect, but refuse to admit it because they're so stubborn and proud. I feel here he's just trying to emulate Batwoman: now that he's the one leading, he expects the same kind of respect he gives his mentor. Maybe there will even a struggle for leadership down the line? Who knows. Things are going to be interesting, and we haven't even had the whole team together yet.

Mako
HP: 1
Condition: Respect growing--just a wee bit-- :D

Mako listend very carefully to Batboys explantion and opinion of the events happening below them. While everything he said corespeonded to Mako's own opinions on the matter, what he was trully looking for was how this Batboy repsonded to a crisis and whether he would hold his own opinions or merely parrot the opinions of more learned and courageous individuals.

Had it been the Latter Prince Aric of Atlantis would have put a stop to the matter right then and there, A Crown Prince of Atlantis taking orders in a crisis of global proportions from a mere pretender and syocphant? Never. However Batboy had proven so far to be disciplined and maintained a cool head even when minimally challenged, he had not gotten defencive or arrogant, he had matter of factly stated his opinion with the usual caveats of lack of information, and not speculated or made anything up out of whole cloth--yet another point in his favor--that caused his apprasial of batboy to rise slightly.

Lastly though he showed what Mako considered a true quality of leadership. The demand for respect of the position desginated him for the mission. Not the person but the authority legitimatley granted him by the chain of command. Mako was well familair with such being trained in the Atlantean Royal guards elite Deep Black team and Royal Guardians. Again his estimation of Batboy rose slightly though again he showed no outward sign save that the chill in his eyes seemed to lessen slightly.

Besides the little fellow had serious courage to get right up into the face of, and demand respect from someone who could snap every bone in his body with little more effort then someone snapped a toothpick. Inwardly Mako smiled, someday he might actualy admit he was beginning to like this Batboy.

Still that said Mako had his pride and couldnt not get the last word in. Or in this case two words, once again he blindsided Batboy by looking him squarely in the eye and saying cooly.

"I agree."

A surprised and confused blink from behind the cowled mask was the response he wanted and so he turned and walked away to look for the person he needed to speak to, in specific one Jonn Jo'nz the one person who could reliably tell him where Doctor Fate was or contact him.

"Wait! Where are you going?" Batboy called out behind him

Mako didnt turn around but did answer over his shoulder. "I need to speak with Jonn, I'll meet up with you and the others shortly." waving casually he walked away until he caught the scent of Jonn and the imposing figure of the Martian Manhunter came into view. Seeing who he was with caused an interested Mako to smile inwardly again, two of his erstwhile new teamates Glaive, and The Dragoness were nearby. More and More Interesting the files ddint quite do them justice. Both had ''Unique"" scents to them which he filed away for future study, and the Electromagnetic signatures of both were VERY "Unique" especialy Glaives. More and more Intriguing indeed.

Walking up as bold as his nature demanded he spoke softly to get Jonns attention. "Jonn, I need a moment please."

Interesting definately and I agree an almost friendly rivalry between the two might happen, one trained to lead, vrs one born to lead.

thoguh i grant this much insight player wise, unlesss Batboy trully screws up Mako is unlikely to ever challenge him for leadership, and by screwup I mean a trully horrendous life threatening foul up. Makos had enough of coups to last a lifetime.
