Different Kinds of Grab?

Hi to all, we have a discussion with our friends:

Lets look this scenario: Player A vs Player B:

Player A: Close attack +5 / Damage STR based 7

Player B: Dodge 8, Parry 8, STR 4.

A pretends to grab B making a close unarmed attack check. He rolls 14.

14 + 5 = 19 vs 18 parry. SUCCESS

Opposed STR check:

A STR = 17 or 22? DC base of Damage or base DC 10?
B rolls with Dodge (better) 8. 8+8 Dodge = 16

Player A grabs player B.


The conflict comes here:

What if i have a Telekinetic player, without STR, and he wants to "Mentally Grab" an opponent?

What effect have to choose, how will be the opposed checks?

Player A's damage is not relevant here; only his STR or STR effect.

Player B would roll Dodge against DC 10 + Player A's STR, e.g. Player A has STR 5. Player B would roll d20+8 vs DC15.

A "mental grab" could be an Affliction attack or a Grab with Move Object. Move Object would be handled just as above. An Affliction attack could look something like this:

Mental Paralysis: Concentration Affliction 8 (1st degree: Hindered, Vulnerable, 2nd degree: Defenseless, Immobile, Resisted by: Will, DC 18; Extras: Extra Condition, Increased Range 2: perception; Flaws: Limited Degree) · 24 points (3 points/rank)


This would automatically hit anyone the attacker could perceive and the target would have to make a DC18 Will check not to become "snared."
