Heroic Age: Spring Has Sprung (OOC)

Postby Tinkerbell » Fri Dec 30, 2011 10:14 pm

So, it's been brought up that there's not enough superhero games. Let's fix that shall we? What we're looking at here is a more episodic game, but as we go along, i'll piece together a plot for the characters. Now I know what you're saying "Freedom City?". Well, yes and no. Seeing as I have none of those nifty Threat Reports, I've decided we're gonna start our own little alt continuity and go to a new city. So stuff is happening in Freedom City and Emerald City and you can use the lore if you wish, but nothing is stopping you from making a character divorced from continuity.

Where will this city be? Miami, Florida.

How hoppin is the super population? Very few villains and heroes. Nothing major has happened. But seeing as the time of the setting is spring break 2012, things are bound to ramp up.

Damn I was going to create a character with 1500 points of variable... Now that would be scary. Sounds like a great game, but I'm at my limit for games going at one time.

I would be interested in this. Not really a fan of Miami though but I can live with it.

The title has me thinking of Marvel's "Heroic Age" banner they had following Siege. I'd actually be interested in something like that, though I doubt that was your intention here. Or am I assuming wrong?

Haven't read it, though I was thinking more an optimistic superhero type game. You don't have to be Captain Underpants-On-The-Outside, but this will be more of a lighthearted game. Think of something fun and go with it.

I, too, am not a fan of Miami, but I'm down for a beachfront game.

Any lore to go on for Empire City (Empire feels so much more like a name for New York than Miami)? I know you just created it, but it could help to nail down a concept.

Actually, if the game is in Miami, I think I'd like to play a female version of Aqualad (from the Young Justice cartoons - water controlling warrior/paragon).

Tentatively very interested. I'm hoping to get in X-League, and I'd also have time for one more. I wasn't being inspired for one on another site I was looking at, but this one sounds as fun as X-Laegue :)

Ah, I was just thinking a nice southerly beach city for spring break and seeing as someone has taken the whole Gulf Coast, Miami was the only other one I could think of. Yeah, Empire City is a New Yorkish name. I'll take suggestions for a better one.

Lore, let's see. How far back should I go? Back in the pirate days it was a rough and tumble port of call seeing as it was the only "civilized" place near the islands. Or if you mean more recent history, Empire was mostly free of superheroes and villains, their biggest problem was gang related violence. That all changed six years ago when a Freedom League crew was assigned to the southeast and they set Empire as their home. While Empire was not the hotspot of crime other places were, it was a fixer upper. Most of the gang related violence has disappeared (though you still have some fools who think they run the joint). Though with superheroes, the opposition creeps around. Seeing as the League affiliate presides over the whole southeast, they're not there all the time, so it fall upon local heroes to deal with the supercriminal aspect.

That sounds cool.

I may consider something besides a water controller. It sounds cool, if a bit cliché (at least to my mind). I may amend it to something else.

EDIT: I think I'd like to go with a Paragon. More the text book version than a clone of Superman, though (Super strength, flight, limited invulnerability and an energy blast of some sort). I think he/she will either be confidence-based or be something totally different, like an android body with a living consciousness - like Spartan from the WildCATs.

I'll flesh this out more once this goes to recruitment.

I could have my rubber arm bent to interest (Empire City makes me immediately think of inFamous for the PS3).

I'll have to see what I come up with if you move into recruiting. Maybe a spacial controller (been wanting to build one lately, not 100% sure why ^^;), or maybe use the GM Kit and come up with something random.

One of my favorite characters to play (Darklite) spawned from using the GM Kit and modifying what I got

I happen to have a PL10, 3E Kaldur built up for a short-lived Young Justice game if you'd like to take a look for inspiration. I can PM it to you.

EDIT: Annnnd I see you changed your mind on it... still, if you want to take a look anyways, just in case, offer's there. (And for anyone else who might be interested)
