typecast - suave and intelligent, Gary is expected to play a mute/monosyllabic brute, and many people think he's as dumb as his character
motivation: responsibility: marc is a nice enough fellow and has the compulsive do-gooding streak suited to superheroics
the Show Must go on!: Marc is a professional. no matter how bad the show is or if things go off script, he'll try to play along and in-character

Marc Edgars is a performer trying to make his start as an actor and make his french canadian parents proud. Playing the bad guy at a superman stunt show wasn't exactly the most glamorous start, but he had the size and mime skill to play General Zod's pet monster, Non.
unfortunately, disaster struck at the venue when a pyro stunt lit the venue on fire, and without thinking, marc rushed into the flames to save his co-stars and a hapless volunteer from the audience, luckily discovering his powers in the process (note: purely hyptotheical summary of first session)
the DC project managers have caught wind of this act of heroism, and are now scrambling to justify Non's face turn

figured with the change of character i should tweak to justify that marc is a very big man even without his powers
