Doc Strange made the observation that Johnny Blaze was like a stop valve for the demon of vengance. and that if Blaze ever cut loose things would get insane and even the hulk wouldnt be able to stand against him.

In that way Jonny Blaze and Bruce Banner have a good bit in common. During Daniel Way’s run on Ghost Rider the interactions between Johnny and the Spirit were explored a lot. There were times when Johnny just had to take a step back and let the Spirit do most of the work. It was more powerful and better at the job they were doing than Johnny was. Even then his power level was crazy variable though. A few issues before the World War Hulk tie in Ghost Rider was getting his ass handed to him by a Lucifer possessed Jack O’Lantern, yeah the mook Jack O’Lantern not a hollowed out pumpkin.

In Ghost Rider’s defense it was Lucifer inside the dead mook but it was still Jack O’Lantern. Daniel Way’s run was good though, like crazy good for Ghost Rider and it’s worth checking out.

Great Ghost Rider profile!

While in the past since his inception, Marvel never really showed him as this powerful, I always thought he was/should be! It is good to learn from the posters that it seems GR is showing just how powerful he really is these days. Your stats are how I would build the GR! Also, great pic! I love great pics that go with great profiles! :)

Are you going to be doing a Son of Satan--Damon Hellstrom profile? He was another Hellfire blaster (Soulfire?)who rarely gets mentioned, let alone statted up these days. And he had that great 'Netheranium' Mystical Trident! It would be great to compare the profiles. Thanks.

Hellstrom actually had a pretty good arc recently in the Avengers.

Ah, I didn't know that! Thanks for the info, ClassDunce. I might have to pick up those issues. I thought SOS had fallen off the face of the earth, maybe into the DCU even, or back to hades. Good to know he has a recent appearance.

Makes me want a profile of him even more now! :)

It was the recent New Avengers reluanch issues 1-6. Luke Cage's team and it's worth reading just for the interactions between Cage, Spiderman, Wolverine and the Thing. Add a surprisingly funny Dr. Strange into the mix and it's a fun read.

I plan on whipping up Hellstorm at some point. I like him as King of Hell, so that's probably the version I'll go with, but I might do a class early Defenders version as well.

That was some Bendis' best writing, I think. The story overall was "eh" but Cage, Spidey and Logan have been a great combo for years now and adding Ben Grimm was genius. The part where he refuses to say Clobberin' Time because he thinks it's getting old and Spidey is trying to talk him into it while they are whoopin' bad guys is classic old school comedy.

My favorite New Avengers moment, though, had to be when Osborn was revealing his Dark Avengers and Logan states that Daken is his kid and Spidey stops everything during this heavy moment while Clint Barton and others are going nuts and says "wait...you had SEX?" I LOL'd.

You know I've gotten some flack for admitting it in the past, by a few guys here on the boards, but I really dug the whole Dark Reign thing. I enjoyed Dark Avengers and all the the solo titles that those characters had. Dark Wolverine was just a fun read. Watching Daken manipulate everyone, he got his ass handed to him constantly but he made that work to his advantage. The miniseries that Ares had, I forget the name, was fantastic too. Where he took the squad of normal HAMMER agents under his wing. I didn't really enjoy the Dark Hawkeye title with Bullseye though and I could go either way on the Dark Spiderman title.

Honestly I never would've thought about adding Dr. Strange to the Avengers but Bendis has made it work. Dr. Strange fits in with that group somehow. Another title from Marvel that I've really been enjoying over the past few years that's never talked about on the boards is Secret Warriors. Nick Fury has put together a covert team of Super Heroes, original heroes just for this title, while everyone else is worried about Osborn after Secret Invasion Nick is fighting the good fight against HYDRA. He's still doing his job even as one of the most wanted men on the planet. It's well worth reading if you get the time.

Indeed, Secret Warriors has been a really great spy/supers story. The use of actual original characters is nice, especially when they're led by Nick Fury!
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

Comments: Deadpool. Not much else to say, really. He has got to be the book all the writers and artists at Marvel want when they need to just cut loose. It's always entertaining.

In my setting, he just rules. Period.

Clean Up 6/14/12: Minor tweaks to Wade, mainly moving some weaponry out of his arsenal like I've been doing for several characters.

I love Deadpool. I would love to see Gail Simone have a few more stories with him but I've come to accept that it will never happen.

Comments: I've done it enough, and you can find my rants on my old thread, Jab's, BARON'S and others, but I will say it one...more..time...

Get off Aquaman. Don't be bandwagon haters. He is a good character. No, his books will never sell great. Yes, Super Friends made him a joke. But he is nowhere near as useless as his surface rep has made him out to be. And his new series rocks. So let it go. Appreciate the man. Now, on with the post...

Aquaman of the Thorpacoverse. He’s pretty capable, becoming a PL13 underwater and I gave him some better leadership abilities along with the healing factor he showed in Alex Ross’ Justice. He and Mera are both part of the new Justice League when not dealing with his duties in Atlantis. He has a strong rivalry with Prince Namor of Sub Diego, who feels that the Atlantean throne is rightfully his, but both have put aside their differences when the greater good is at stake.

Comments: While I love Kevin Smith overall, I find his comic writing style a bit uneven. Sometimes it works well, sometimes it’s just a bit too wordy (but that’s him). His introduction of Mia Dearden during his run on Green Arrow was something I really liked, though. She’s been a pretty decent character since and I’m hoping she shows up again in the New 52. For Earth-217, she is still GA’s sidekick and a member of Young Justice West.

While I am jumping around a bit and not sticking to one theme right now, I do plan on posting several teen heroes over the next couple of weeks amongst other odds and ends before we wrap up this move and I am sans internet for a few days. I can handle no TV for a couple of days, but no WIFI? Barbaric.

First off, my condolences on the lack of internet. It's inhumane. Really.

Second, cool Aquaman and cool Speedy. Though I'll have to argue her outfit, while simple is in no way as bad as Dr. Spectro's. All the little multi-colored, motion capture dots are just atrocious. I do question the cape though. I've always thought that a cape on an archer was...counter productive to say the least.

I think her outfit looks like a knock-off of Darkstar's (Marvel, not DC), but with a hood. It'd look better without the big hood, really (and anyways, what kind of a ranged fighter deliberately obscures their peripheral vision like that?).

And also, his current series is proof that Geoff Johns can sell ANYTHING- I think at one point, "Aquaman" outsold any individual X-book. That would be an indication that hell has completely frozen over, except the Maple Leafs haven't won the Stanley Cup yet :).
