Condition: Fine


Air. Breathe. Suffocating.

The bear-creature known as Chimera tore and ripped at the elastic hand as if his life depended on it, mainly because it did!
Finally able to rip the stretchy limb away enough from his face he let out a huge roar of anger and rage. His animalistic mind wanted to keep ripping and clawing but his human mind snapped into focus and he forced his body to change, rippling muscle and sinew pulled and stretched until Chimera began to break apart into hundreds of small bugs... this time instead of spiders they were wasps, hornets and bees!

DC18 Fort Save 2+8=10 hmm... I think I want to reroll that one... suffocating is not fun. 3+8=11(+10)=21 much better. Now do I still need to roll the Con save or lose consciousness, or was that only if I failed the Fort save?
And after talking to BC about this one here is the power setting for Chimera's Swarm of Wasps:
. . Swarm of Wasps (Power Setting) (Powers: Flight 1, Sting (Strike 9), Swarm (Insubstantial 2))
. . . . Flight 1 (Speed: 10 mph, 88 ft./rnd; Reduced Load 2 (Light Load))
. . . . Sting (Strike 9) (DC 24; Secondary Effect; Accurate (+2))
. . . . Swarm (Insubstantial 2) (Gaseous/Particulate)

We thought it would take up his turn doing that as it effectively gets him out of the grapple, so Chimera will have to wait till next turn to start the stinging!

Caber

Caber stands in what is now a very damaged room. His back is to the window where he smashed his way in, and fragments of plaster and bricks litter the floor. More or less in front of him are three men in some kind of technological battlesuit. Behind them, to Caber's right, is a door, presently closed. Apart from that, the furnishings are fairly sparse. A folding camp cot and three matching chairs, a cooler, some metal cases and some snack wrappers and empty pizza boxes are all that's in the room.

Looking at the trio in front of him, Caber's eyes fixed on the man in the battlesuit with red highlights. "Heeey, you got a different color scheme than your pals dude. Seems ta me that indicates either you're more important...or a rookie. Either way, it earns you extra special attention. Aren't you the lucky boy?"

With that Caber swings at the man, hoping to land a haymaker on his chin.

Unarmed Attack 1d20+6=15. If that hits it's a DC27 toughness save.

Caber

Stepping forward, Caber launches a huge swing at Gun Red. Starting from the hip and traveling outwards in an arc, the blow is packed with massive power. Caber's fist shreds part of the wall to his right as it travels, sending a plume of crushed plaster into the air, and continues onwards, not slowed in the slightest. Very fortunately for the man in the red-striped battlesuit the blow just misses, Caber's knuckles whistling through the air just in front of his nose.

Pin Yun talks to her father:

"Hi Daddy, it's me! ... Yes, I'm OK. No, I'm with Amalda.... ....no, silly, Buzz. Ok, here she is." she hands the phone back to Buzz.

"Uh... Buzz? It's Mr Young here. Ummm... ...thanks for rescuing Pin Yun. I don't know what to..." Mr Young doesn't finish the sentence as a short blip of static cuts him off, and then Buzz can hear the familiar voice of Drexler:

"Buzz, Drexler here. Sorry to cut in like this... ...you should be aware that there's a very powerful psychic operating at the moment. Someone on the other side. NORCs has just told me that the mental activity readings for your area are spiking incredibly. Be careful, OK?"


GM:- My bad, completely overlooked this earlier. Buzz gets +2 to Will saves v mental powers for the rest of this combat...

Buzz pressed the button on her commlink with one hand, moving the phone away with the other. "Guys, Drexler says there's a psychic on the loose out there. Apparently he or she tried to fry me, probably missed due to the small target." Buzz lifted her mask and stuck her tongue out at Pin-Yun. "Just be careful if you start getting strange thoughts and they don't involve the Olsen Twins. Buzz out." She then returned the phone to her mouth.
"Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna run Pin Yun back to you guys just in case they try to hit her too. See you in a sec." She closed the phone and reached down to pick up Pin Yun and then paused halfway.

"Wait a minute... when did I tell you my real name? Is there something you need to tell me, Small Lady?"

"Wait a minute... when did I tell you my real name? Is there something you need to tell me, Small Lady?"

Pin Yun looks at Buzz, her eyes somehow seeming to look into Buzz' very soul, before answering.


"How do I know your name? Easy, you were thinking about it when you talked to..." she pauses for a moment, thinking, "...Mr Drexler... Is he your boss or something? He seems nice... ... ah, that makes sense, he's one of us... Gaargghh! It's Her! You should have knocked me..."

Pin Yun goes limp momentarily, only Buzz' grip on her arm holding her up. Then her muscle tone returns, but she feels very different in Buzz' grasp. She writhes and twists her arm furiously, kicking at Buzz' shins, and her voice is cold, old and dead-sounding.

"Ah... 'Buzz'. What a cutesy name. It aptly describes the empty ringing sound of your futile thoughts, like a blowfly against a window. Anyway, to business, let's see what we can find in this mass of adolescent insecurities and inanities that you call a mind."

Buzz suddenly feels someone else inside her mind.


GM:- Will Save please, don't forget your +2 'situational awareness' bonus.

Buzz hasn't acted yet, but can still do so.




Semilla


Semilla grimaces at the Creep's slimy words, and gestures a command to her plants, which writhe and grow further still, twisting and turning around the limbs of Rosa and Frank, binding them both completely immobile despite their efforts to escape. Rosa can't move at all, and Frank can sway a little from side to side, one hand holding his shotgun, the other, which was trying to pull the gun free, is now helplessly bound to it and to the floor.

A similar mass of plants grows up, over and around the Creep, forming a mat of dense vegetation holding him in place.


For an instant.

Then his face and hand distorts even further, like soft melted plastic, and flows around and between the plants, reforming once again when past the obstruction, with a horrible grin at Semilla.

Buzz wavered on her feet for a moment before reaching out and scooping Pin Yun.
"Enough of that, young missy!" she said sharply, the world blurring as she sprinted towards NORCS headquarters.

Buzz

Buzz grabs Pin Yun, slipping her phone back into it's holder, and cradling the girl in both arms, starts sprinting away. The sense of unending acceleration never fails to bring a frisson of excitement as Buzz's nervous system and metabolism speed up to match, allowing her to think and manoeuvre at faster-than-supercomputer speeds.

But today something is different, something feels off. As she accelerates Buzz finds her field of vision narrowing like a tunnel, darkness on all sides until all she can see is a tiny point of light... ...which vanishes with a Pop! "Got you now, buzzing little fly..."


Suddenly Buzz can see again. She's standing still on the kerb next to a small park somewhere in Harbor Heights. Her legs feel heavy and leaden, like she's covered a huge distance, and she's breathing deeply. Pin Yun seizes the opportunity to wriggle free of her grasp and drop to the ground.

"Quick! She's left us for a moment! You have to knock me out or something, NOW! I'm the link, that's how she's getting to you."

As Pin Yun is saying that Buzz is looking at the view around the harbor, from where they are on a low hill she can see almost the whole harbor. She notices some smoke rising off to the east, somewhere in the suburbs, looks like a fire. And then she sees another, and another, and still another... ...like a trail, going round the harbor, back towards...

...the Old City. Her senses all returning, Buzz smells something... ...gasoline. Raising a hand she sniffs it - gasoline. An odd lump in a pocket -what's this? A disposable cigarette lighter.

Surveying the fires, Buzz could find little to say.
"***deleted*** me," she said flatly. Buzz immediately clapped her hand to her face and turned slightly to see if Pin Yun had caught on to the profanity. She then raised her phone to her lips and said, "Folks, I'm compromised. I want you to know the fires are not my fault... Mr. Young, I'm sorry." Dropping the phone, she tapped a series of locations on Pin Yun's body, pressure points to hopefully cut off her blood flow only temporarily to knock her out for transport. Said pressure points had to be tapped in a precise order in a short amount of time to work, a task usually the province of advanced martial arts masters. Buzz's speed made it relatively child's play. Finishing, she caught the phone before it could drop and then grabbed the slumping Pin Yun, ready to run.

OOC: Using her Stun attack power. Attack roll (Stun): (1d20+9=13) Using an HP just to make sure despite that she's a non-combatant volunteering to get hit and probably intentionally failing the save. Attack roll (Stun, HP Reroll): (1d20+9=15)+10 = 25 will definitely hit. DC 18 Fortitude save. She'll then pick up the (hopefully unconscious) Pin Yun and run for headquarters.

And my apologies for the profanity, but it seemed appropriate to the situation.

GM:- Buzz gets a HP - I'll say that it's an automatic success to Stun/KO Pin Yun given the circumstances, so no need to spend a HP to ensure success.


Pin Yun is still watching the falling phone when she loses consciousness as Buzz does a high-speed series of taps on various pressure points. The speedster easily catches both phone and falling girl and in the same motion starts for NORCS HQ at a dead run.

As Pin Yun is knocked out, Buzz feels a pressure behind her eyes, like a dull headache, fade away, and her normal clear thinking return. Running so fast that people can't even register her passing she heads along the streets towards the NORCS HQ.




Technomancer

Travis hears a 'chirp' from his NORCS communicator - his last cockroach has just updated it's status reports with a series of still shots from the living room side window - they show a mass of plantlife holding a man and a woman fast, Semilla in the centre of the room, and some kind of massive distorted face and hand blocking the doorway; and from the next window along in the alley a series of shots showing Caber facing off with three guys in some kind of power armor.

As he peeks over the window counter Travis notices a dark sedan parked right in front of the brownstone front door, and three guys going inside. They look.... well... dodgy, heavily built and wearing bulky jackets, not the kind of thing you'd find comfortable on a day as warm as today.

Technomancer pulls out his blaster and shoots the guys with his grav beam, making them entirely weightless and possibly their fancy car as well (gravity control rank 11).
Surge
He quickly recalibrates his thinkatronic 2000 to transmit EMP on the frequency of human brainwaves like a neural scrambler (beats a tinfoil helmet).
Immunity to mental effects extra=area effect 20pp.
He stays crouched behind the counter to see what else happens.
Over his commlink he quickly mutters, "some more guys coming but I think I slowed them down."

Aiming his gun across the street Travis fires and sees the three men, who have just gone inside the building, fly upwards out of sight at great speed. The dark sedan that they came in also disappears upwards, as if whisked away by a giant hand.

Satisfied, Travis turns his attention to setting up some protection for the possibility of mental attacks, getting a suitable wavelength to do it. He's making the final adjustments when he hears some soft 'thumps' followed by a loud crunching crash.

Gun Red

The man in the suit with red highlights is taken aback by the speed and aggression of Caber's attack. He presses a button on his wrist, and with a click and a whoosh! his jetpack flies him out of the room, through the broken window and away towards the front of the building.



Gun Gold

His comrade, clad in gold-striped armour, raises his off hand at the hulking hero. A fine spray of pale crimson liquid jets out, hitting Caber in the face and torso. It burns his eyes, mouth and nose, like the hottest chilli sauce he's ever come across, and then some.


GM:- Caber has been hit by 'It Burns' Pepper Spray (Tm)!

Make a Reflex Save, DC 16.

If Caber fails, he is blinded; and must also make a Fort save (DC16) or be Stunned as well.



Gun Black

The man in the evil-looking jet black armour takes advantage of the confusion to fire his weapon at the huge hero. What looks like a very large-bore shotgun barrel protrudes from one arm, and a massive slug bursts out of it, fortunately missing our hero, and taking a large chunk of wall out instead.
