You and Blackarrow are pretty much the same power wise. A sniper is not much help in the narrow areas of the complex.


Admittedly, I sort of skimmed the other submissions. I prefer to submit a character I'd like to play before I look at what else is there. Looking at it, we are surprisingly similar. Sorry blackarrow, I promise I didn't copy yours.
Two things I'd like to point out. First, the low defense/toughness means that my character will likely be hit. A lot. And fail the toughness a lot. If I required an action to regenerate, that's all he'd do just to stay alive. Second, the mechanics on ranged weapons mean that a sniper rifle is just as effective from 10ft as it is from farther away. Cramped spaces don't mean much. Plus the precise shot feat means he can shoot into melee without hitting his own team.

As I look a bit more in depth, I notice one big difference in my character and blackarrow's. My powers only work in close combat and are reactive in nature whereas his work from farther away and take actions to use. Its a subtle difference but greatly change the way they play. I think I'd like to keep this one in the running.

No worries mrbassman. My powers are also touch range only, though not reactive. Mine is more of a bioelectrical pulse that releases,speeds up, or restricts biological functions, as oppossed to your toxin array. As for my regeneration, I kept my defenses intentionally low and dropped almost all of my points into regeneration for the same reason mrbassman did. If I had to take time healing, i'd lose actions just to stay afloat. If it's a big deal, I can do something else, but if that's the case, i'd just scrap the character and start from the ground up.

I volunteered to co-GM this game with Aerlwyn, so I will directly address the concerns - since I originally made them.

I understand the idea of using Regeneration as your defense, and I did recognize your were undercapped on Defense. However, No action Regeneration, especially for all conditions, is a "PL breaking" power. By that, I mean it puts the character at a higher effective PL than the rest of the players. That level regeneration makes it very hard to throw suitable challenges at the players, no matter how bad you get hurt, you are back up in a couple of rounds. To have a real challenge, a GM needs to throw a lot of exotic save attacks or fiat - both are very boring for the players.

MrBassman has No action Regen on Bruised, but no other levels, so if he takes a higher degree of damage, his Regen stops until he heals the higher level. But I still prefer Regen to require an action, if nothing else, you get slowed down by being stunned.

Blackarrow, you can reduce them and then throw the points into Protection, with the descriptor still being "fast healing." So you may make your Toughness save, but the visual is the wound heals almost instantly.

Mr Bassman, the sniper rifle doesn't really fit the theme of the game. Plus, you can't have a Permanent power with an Alternate Power on it. Kind of overrides the Permanent part, even if the Alternate is also Permanent. If you want to put a Feat on it that lets you drop the Permanent, but it beecomes Distracting, that would be allowable. Then the AP would be Distracting and not Permanent.

I'll go ahead and make a new character tonight. As pointed out, my power set is similar to mrbassman's, and as my character would need to be reworked anyway, I'll be the one to rebuild. Powerset will be low level telepathy and pre/post cognition (if that's game breaking let me know) which will mostly translate to enhanced attk, def, and feats. Going to make him a formerly wealthy iranian who studied sanda near zheng zhou. I'll give him a few techniques as powers.

Not a fan of precog, unless it's uncontrolled. Post isn't bad. Doing the Enhanced Combat and Danger Sense route works fine, just restrict the actual precog power or say its only a few seconds ahead so you can only use it for the combat stuff.

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't thinking when I AP'ed a permanent power. I'll see if I can remake this guy into a scrapper. I'd probably leave the contact drain, but redo abilities, feats, and combat. How much longer do I have before recruiting is closed?

Yakov Avram was a mossad infiltration agent, trained to peak condition, specialising in getting to those people who thought they were untouchable. He used the methods available, explosives, knives, bare hands if necessary. Despite the claims to the contrary many countries have an unofficial relationship with Israel and mossad. It was on one "cultural exchange" that Yakov was asked to use his skills to help a special ops team on Canadian soil to shut down project phoenix. There it all went horribly wrong.

Derek has been an avid hunter since his father first taught him when he was 12. Every season, the two of them would go hunt deer, ducks, turkeys, and other wild animals. Derek was an above average student in school but had no interest in going to college. Instead he joined the army. It was there that his years of hunting experience helped. He quickly was given the chance to join the Special Forces. The years of practice being patient, hiding, and moving stealthily served him well. One day, he was ordered to assist in closing down a government facility codenamed Project Phoenix. On paper, it looked straightforward enough. Just a bunch of scientists and a dozen or so security personnel who had refused orders to shut down. Their mission was to go in and force them to close down.

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. The entire force was captured. When they woke up, they found themselves on medical examining tables. All their equipment, weapons, and clothing were gone. One by one they each discovered a terrible truth. The scientists had experimented on each of them. They were all changed now, no longer just human.
