Stronghold gave it. Tech didn't listen. If you were going to argue with him, and he didn't want to waste time, he didn't want to fire blind. Anywho, if they travel to the other dimension, how are we doing to tell they blow up?

And when Tech said he was sending them back to where they came from, Stronghold concured, because safe elevation is an awefully vague thing since we have zero idea of what kind of fallout self detting these things will have, but somehow wanted Tech to pull up a bloody map of this other dimension for him to pick and choose targets. There is no time for that.

Think about it, Tech managed to forge orders for the angels to return to the carrier. There is literally no way to know how long that will fool them until they start swarming out again. Time for all this data mining you guys are attempting to have Tech do is unrealistic in our undefined window of opportunity to do ANYTHING is something the intelligent characters should be well aware of.

I know it's hard to really feel a sense of urgency in pbp, but consider what I've said above. We're working on borrowed time bought with deception, no deception lasts indefinitly.

Does that not sound like a fair assessment of the situation?

I'm still curious if you came up with a way to "confirm the kill" as it were. Assuming they do head back to the other dimension, it would be nice to know if our plan worked, or if we just gave the enemy his army back minus two groups of angels.

None what so ever. As far as I am aware, there is no way to confirm it. He programmed a hidden self det command to trigger after a time limit based on the travel logs (it took them x amount of time to arrive from launch, so he set the carriers to det violently at around that time after sending them back).

It's not perfect, but it's the best he had to work with.

After reviewing the data Tech pillaged, we can travel there and check things out. Whether it is successful or not, some recon would be good. At least send a probe or something.

Do you have a probe? Tech would need time to make one, Dimensional ESP, it would take long time for the range that may be needed.

If i recall correctly, they come from mars in another dimension. But again we're talking about time we do not have. We were to go WITH the carrier, there is no way to know how long or even if we can manage to get ourselves back, and in that time, the world is fending for itself.

As Tech sees it on that thought, our job is protecting the world. We can't do that if we aren't there.

Yes, Tech would need to build the probe or Garamond would need to do some scrying. Its better than being totally blind on the matter.

Is Stronghold going ask the angels to wait patiently in the carriers until we're ready?

Garamond scrying would be the better option, it will still take time, and since I don't know how long it will take for the carriers to return (Tech would know from the mission log, but Neo hasn't explicitly told me) it may or may be feasible for Garamond to whip up a scrying ritual or something.

A probe will simply take too long where every minute may be too long. It's unrealistic to even consider and Stronghold with his tactical mind should be aware that time is not on our side here.

Yup. Tech's not stalling any longer. Stronghold can contact Garamond to try to scry across dimensions.

You're misunderstanding me EPIC. I was talking about something after the fact. The carrier go on their way ... then scry/do the probing.

It's the difference between Inventor and Ritualist. I stand by Garamond's scrying being the ideal option. Hell, now I think about it, his HQ had a dimensional gate he could probably tweak to peek across.

Posted, and before anyone gets uppity, I'm not just venting OOC stuff IC.

Yes, Stronghold did touch a nerve, but that little comment clearly should not have provoked THAT much of a response. Techardt is fully aware of the possible rammifications of his actions making a "shotgun blast in the dark" as it were, and all he can say to himself to blunt the edge of that is to remind himself that his actions saved human lives. Like I said, he'll be losing sleep over this.

So....no taking it personal.

My bad Sakuro, I thought the "I expect more from you, all of you, than a shotgun blast in the dark." bit went out to all of us.
I've edited the @Stronghold bit out of my comment :)
Now it's just Corona reassuring Tech and himself that they did the right thing

Stronghold didn't want to scold Tech infront of all of his peers. Or invite a group discussion. Though I can see how the "all of you" bit caused confusion.
