Anteriael, The Guardian Angel
HP: 1 Condition: Normal

Anteriael looks to the others not working on the circle, "Should we not move to a safer location while they work? It would seem possible this magic is either ment to affect the people around it, or is attempting to draw power from them."

"I do not believe it to be safe to stay here longer than nessessary."

"Particularily while this one is present,"
He says, looking to the man he holds aloft with one arm.

Kilroy

This book of dark lore is hard to make sense of. Without the torrent of information from the twins it would take a great deal more time to get anything from it. As it is, the terrible secrets within reveal themselves to you with ease. It would be so simple to modify the circle so as to bind it's prisoner to your will, then force the Angel beside you to bend it's knee towards you. With such power you could rule all that you wished, making your dark will manifest.

The images of what you could do with the power continue until one in particular catches your attention. It's an image of you committing an act so heinous that your overwhelming revulsion shakes you lose from the spell you were falling under. Now aware of the danger you realize most of what was whispered to you were honeyed lies. Even so, there is much to be learned from this book. You are fairly certain you understand how the circle was supposed to work and believe you know what the mistakes made were. Fixing it will not be easy and you can not do it alone, but with the aid of the others it should be repairable.
Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
They stood, and earth's foundations stay;
What God abandoned, these defended,
And saved the sum of things for pay.

With the stream of knowledge coming from the sisters directly into his brain, Kilroy felt a little like he was learning conjuring from inside the Matrix. Upon realizing that the book itself was trying to manipulate him, he had to fight the urge to throw it down and destroy it. But that might end their chances of containing the spirit and so he pressed on.

Minutes later, he slammed the book shut and dropped it on the floor. "I have it." Kilroy glared at their unconscious prisoner. "Damn them for starting this, but I have it." He looked around at the others. "I can repair the circle but I will need your assistance."

Clay Jackson:
Luck Point: 1
HP: 1

Clay grunted. What Kilroy said pretty much confirmed what he thought of their prisoner and his friends. "Alright, what do we do?"

"Right then." Kilroy rolled up his sleeves and prepared to get to work. The sisters and Samantha seemed to be the ones that would be the most help. That left the others to take care of the grunt work. "An... Ant.. Anteriael! Take that man to the furthest corner of the room. I'd like him close enough that he'll be the first target of this thing if something goes wrong. It's taken him before and we defeated it. We should be able to do so again, yes?" He nodded, hoping to get agreement.

"Clay and ehh.... Aasif. I want you to watch the rest of us. There is dark magic in that book " Kilroy glanced down at it. " and coming from... well who knows where this goes... and I want to be sure none of us are coming under any undue influence while we work."

Then he turned to the girls. "I'll need your help with the circle itself." He led them to a small pile of items in the corner of the room and picked up a small bowl. "This is what was used to draw the runes." Kilroy stuck a finger into it carefully. "Ick. It's not blood. At least not entirely. But I'd rather not venture to guess what else it's made of."

Kilroy led Samantha to one of the leak points. "Sam, this sigil is reversed. All occurrences of this symbol actually. The open side needs to face North. If you can correct it and the other 3 like it. Thank you."

"Angie and Barbara. There are three pairs of sigils that need to be fixed simultaneously, so you'll need to coordinate closely. You can do that, right?" He pointed out the three locations around the circle. "Each one needs an additional East-West line in the center."

"And, in case you are all wondering, I'll be focusing on the gate in the center. As you work, this... thing will undoubtedly attempt to find more flaws and escape. I, through force of will, shall prevent it from doing so."

Kilroy walked slowly around the circle to a point opposite the splintered doorway. "One more thing. I doubt this warning is necessary but under no circumstances should you enter the circle. Flawed though it may be, it is all that is keeping the full strength of the beast from accosting us."

Kilroy raised his arms, like an orchestra conductor. Faint shimmers of power coursed over his hands. "Now then. Are we ready? Yes? Let's begin."

The girls nodded slowly, then got heads-together. Barbara: Okay, fixing each individual pair should be fairly straightforward, but getting them all at once is going to be the trick.

Angela: Tell me something I don't know, sis. I can get one, you can get one... none of my tricks will really work for number three.

Barbara: I might be able to do something...

Angela considered the... paste... the cultists had used for their runework for a moment, as well as the brushes. She considered her small repertoire of spells. Barbara: If I'm very precise with it I might be able to do something with the Building Blocks... sort of make a lego hand with a handle...

Angela: I've seen you try that before. It sounds like we need maximum precision for this, that won't be good enough. Let's ask the Rabbi if he can lend a hand.

Angie blinked, then shot her sister a look. Clearing her throat, she said, "Aasif? We could use another pair of hands. Could you help us with the runework?"

Kilroy dropped his hands. His moment was ruined. "You misunderstand. Each pair of runes must be fixed simultaneously but but not all three pairs must be fixed at once."

"However, if we can fix all three pairs at once, that may be even better."

"...Oh," said Angie in a very small voice. Then, more normally, "Ah, on second thought, Aasif, we're probably better off with you covering our backs in case of a mistake. We'll handle this."

Angela: For two women who are supposed to be smart we can be really dopey at times.

Barbara: I'm gonna blame nerves.

She shook her head for a moment, then the sisters collected themselves and started preparing to make the (suddenly much more straightforward) fix. Once they were prepared, they did so.

Barbara and Angela take the first steps in repairing the circle. It goes smoothly for the most part. Then Samantha steps forward to begin her own repairs however it seems she misunderstood the instructions. Unless she catches herself there is no telling what the result would be.

While they do so, Kilroy focuses his mind on the circle. He can feel a tremendous presence stirring within and it takes all his force of will to contain it.

To get things moving, I'm rolling a couple checks here. I'll fully resolve them once people have had a chance to decide if they want to spend an HP to re-roll.

1d20+8=9 Samantha's Arcane Lore
1d20+15=23 Kilroy's Arcane Lore check

Is everyone else following along with Kilroy's plan?

And saved the sum of things for pay.

Sorry. Didn't realize you wanted another roll.
Expertise(arcana) reroll (1d20 + 15=27) Beh. Not so much improvement but I felt like I needed to do better.

The mages set to work, some guarding while others worked on the problem more directly. An otherworldy howl kicked up soon after and the brewing storm hit a few moments later, far faster then could be natural.

There were a few close calls when Samantha nearly disturbed the circle but Kilroy was able to compensate in time. The mage had learned well under Merlin and even in the face of an elder evil like this he would not falter. Ten minutes after the process began, it was over. The circle was as secure as they could make it.

The storm howls on, causing the building to shudder in place.

The first roll was for the planning of the ritual, the second for performing it. The others were assisting. There were enough successes for the +5.

Angie and Babs
HP: 1 Condition: Feeling useful!

As their work on the circle finishes, the sisters sit back and survey their works.

Angela: Well, that ought to work, right?

Barbara: It should, assuming I understood the spellwork.

Angela turned to Kilroy without standing. "Well. If we've done our homework right, this ought to be secure."

"Yes, right. As long as nobody disturbs it." Kilroy stepped back and let out a deep sigh. "But, of course we can't leave it like this. The question still remains of how we send the Wendigo's great-grandmother back and get that portal closed."

Angie and Babs
HP: 1 Condition: glib

"Well," began Babs, "We can always fall back on the old GI-Joe standby: Knowing is half the battle. The other half is violence." She paused, smirking as Angela facepalmed. "I figure, we've done the knowledge part; now all we need to do is beat up the badguy and stuff it into the circle. That ought to neutralize it, right?"

"I hate to encourage her, but we probably are going to have to beat the monster into the ground before we can banish it... anyone have any thoughts on that part of things?" Angie pushed herself to her feet, using Bab's shoulder as a crutch. The younger sister simply floated, legs still crossed, until she was roughly at standing height and then let her legs down.
