Motivation: Thrill-Seeker. Jack loves the excitement and thrill of being a super.

Criminal History: Jack is a convicted felon.

Power Complications: Wings. Jack has a large pair of feathered wings. They're extremely noticeable.

Quirk: Bad attitude. Jack has a serious problem with authority.

Robin Hood mentality: Jack gave the majority of his spoils to charities, particularly ones dealing with children.

Protective of Children: Having grown up in foster homes and institutions, Jack is extremely fond of children and will not allow anyone to harm them.

Biography -
Jack never really knew his parents. They were killed when he was only 3 years old. With no other close family, at least none who were willing to take responsibility for the toddler, Jack was placed in the foster care system.

Some of the families he was placed with were warm and caring, but the majority were, at best, neglectful and, at worst, openly abusive. Gifted with extraordinary strength and an instinctive fighting ability, Jack was able to keep himself safe. It was not long before he was protecting his 'brothers' and 'sisters' as well.

Then, when Jack was 15, he grew wings.

Jack opted himself out of the system. With his new ability to fly, he quickly became a successful burglar, keeping
only enough of his spoils to support himself. The vast majority of what he stole went to shelters and clinics and other organizations that supported and protected the poor, especially children.

Everything changed when Jack involved himself in tracking down a serial killer who preyed on children. Jack managed to track the killer down and subdue him, but too late to save the man's last victim. Rather than risk the
man going free, Jack turned himself in to the police and gave a full confession. His testimony was invaluable in
convicting the killer, but Jack ended up in prison, too.

The judge and prosecutor were sympathetic. Despite confessing to multiple counts of grand theft and breaking and enterting, Jack's recent act of heroism and the fact that his crimes were nonviolent were taken into account. Jack's sentences were to run concurrently, he would be in prison for five years, less time off for good behavior.
Jack did his time quietly, the other prisoners respecting him for taking down a child molester and killer. Jack was out in 4 years and will spend the next 6 years on probation.

It was worth it...

Drunken Grognard: Looks good, concept and character approved once again.

heretic454: I'm sorry, that set-up isn't acceptable. Your character can theoretically have Strength 24, or Toughness 12 and Dodge and Parry 12, completely shattering the PL8 limit. Tone that array down to 32 points (for a maximum of 16 in any one of those areas, and 8 in any two) and I might reconsider it, depending on how you spend the extra points.

EPIC: Please reread the first post and the subject header. Your character is a PL10. I'm looking for PL8 characters.

timothy: Jackdaw looks pretty good, I think he'll make for a good character.

Enigmatic One: That sounds like an interesting character, write it up and I'll take a look.

XeroKhan: ... I'd want to see that before I made any judgements.

Everyone: Some things to take into account when creating your backgrounds. When people are given probation, it normally lasts for a duration equal to their sentence. So Toxic, who received 20 to life, will be under probation for 20 years. Your character should know exactly how long they're going to be in Project Freedom, all things being equal.

I should probably have mentioned that I'm looking for only four or five players this time.

It was my understanding that dynamic arrays are by nature limited to PL limits, otherwise you would have the same exact problem as you would with variable arrays, no?
In addition I imagine I would be limited by whatever trade off you would be comfortable with, which for me in a pl 8 game would be +3/-3. In addition, I can only have up to 8 Strength because I'm already limited by the 8 I have in close attack; I'm using the offensive tradeoff advantages to indicate morphing tricks. This is...an annoying build without using variable arrays, but I'll do my best to accomplish it.

EDIT:Okay. I was totally wrong. I didn't have close attack 8 in that build. I meant to. But I was dumb. Please excuse my idiocy. I'll rework it.

The build is (or should be) pl8. I just copied the info block from the original file which was pl10.

I distinctly remember retooling the build down to pl8... at 4am... I'll uh.... I'll just go double check. But for the record, I did read the first post, which is obvious in how i made destinct notation to how he fits the game concept and hiw I need to edit the backstory to something more suitable for the mutant-tolerant Freedomverse

That should work. Build is far more self limited now: defensively he's limited to a 3 point trade off in either direction, and offensively he's 0/0 with me using the +2/-2 combat advantages everyone has as flavor for his changing form to increase power/precision.

I don't love the fact that I had to take strength out of the array but without accuracy in the array as well I saw no other way to do it.

EPIC: Okay, reviewing the modfied character ... sorry, still no. Free Action Damage powers are a no-go. And this character is far too destructive to ever have been accepted for the Project.

They are free action but require a standard action to set up, but your second point is valid simply because it's your game :P Like i said in his complication, his power is "blowin' sh*t up".

I'll see if I can come up with something more appropriate.

hertic454 -
You've got 5 extra points it looks like. Fighting 5 and Close Attack 8 put you at +13 offensively. You could drop 5 points from Close Attack or drop Fighting to 0 and use 5 of those points to buy parry back up to the base 5. Either way, it will free up points to use elsewhere (using the various trade off options to simulate shapeshifting assaults is brilliant, by the way).

You're right. I keep getting lost in build iterations.
EDIT: Okay, build edited. Now I have 7 points to figure out what to do with...

Suggestion: Accurate Attack and Power Attack as Enhanced Advantages, to represent his ability to shift between forms that have a higher damage potential but aren't terribly accurate, or vice versa. That takes care of 2 point. You could try giving him some extra senses with the rest.

One other point -- he was working for the Labyrnth, but he doesn't know that. He thought he was working for the Zodiac cartel.

Edited JackDaw to include sentencing info.

Most jurisdictions add any good behaviour time (usually limited to 20% of total sentence time) to the probationary period. I am a font of odd and occasionally useful information... :D
