@evolucion -
interesting point about the power being possibly 'anti-heroic'. i think there's a lot of room to discuss the concept of heroic vs antiheroic in comic books.
which is more important to deciding whether a character is an antihero, powers or attitude? which characters are the most antiheroic out there and which are the most heroic? does the tone of a work make a difference (punisher vs deadpool, for example).
since this game is sort of up in the air as far as tone, this could be something worth discussing further.
anyone else have any thoughts?

(as far as magneto's power creep, i think it probably had to due with the increasing power of the x-men. the originals, though fun, were not enormously powerful. as the team evolved, the villains also had to evolve. and since magneto was there "greatest" enemy, they had to find ways to make him more challenging. and to keep him from ever being really beaten - which led to far more ridiculous gyrations than the power increase, in my opinion.)

(one last note, the magnetic properties of hemoglobin are quite fascinating. an mri, for example, can detect the difference between oxygenated and non-oxygenated blood under the proper circumstances. some nifty research going on...)

Attitude is the definitory thing, but if your powers are making people's organs turn to black goo, I think you will not be using those powers at all!

Trissa is the daughter of an Amazon and one of the men that they periodically abduct for breeding purposes. She doesn't know who her father is and she doesn't care. Her mother is a member of the royal guards and so she received extensive training while she was growing up. Part of that training impressed on her very specific ideas on expected roles in society. One of her strong beliefs is the responsibility of the royalty to its subjects. So she found it galling that Jalihla would leave the Amazons to protect the rest of the world. Jalihla's place was with the Amazons and if she felt that something was needed to help women outside their city, a more appropriate force should be assigned.

In the fallout of the heated debates, Trissa felt that Jalihla's defenders were giving in to the royalty instead of holding them accountable. This was unacceptable to her and she left the Amazons, without permission. She knew that she couldn't find Jalihla and force her to return but she could show her that she wasn't the only one that could take on that task. After being out for a while, she found that working on her own limited her ability to effect change. So she sought out the New Guardians, who had a much more extensive reach and the resources to back it up.

I had an idea for a character. Basically, it's an Egyptian god in the same way Marvel's Thor is a god (With the whole Arthur C. Clarke idea that "Technology advanced enough is indistinguishable from Magic"). He's from an alternate universe where the Ancient Egyptian civilization survived and prospered for millenia thanks to the Egyptian alien 'gods'. He escaped to Earth-47 in a last ditch attempt to survive the apocalypse brought on by his universe's Set.

If any of that doesn't work for your universe, please tell me. I'll post him after I finish a paper for school.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothes. But the half-wit remains a half-wit and the emperor remains an emperor.

It could be interesting...especially since all the ancient gods are aliens in this universe, the Gahral, who indeed have tech that is almost indistinguishable from magic...

Complications
Enemy: Set, the only other god to escape the destruction of Thoth's former home, was lost when Thoth
activated the dimensional gateway on Heliopolis. As far as he knows, the dark god is lost in the space
between worlds, or he could be on Earth-42, plotting the destruction of yet another world.
Motivation: Responsibility: Thoth is unbelievably protective of his new homeworld. He saw his old world
burn at the hand of it's worst supervillain and doesn't want to see the same thing to happen again to his
adoptive world.
Prejudice: Thoth is an alien and rarely disguises himself. He takes pride in his alien heritage, so when he
leaves his headquarters (even when he's not crimefighting), he always looks like he's 'in costume'.

Defense
Dodge 3, Parry 2, Fortitude 0, Toughness 8, Will 6
Power Points
Abilities 58 + Powers 73 + Advantages 12 + Skills 17 (33 ranks) + Defenses 0 = 160

Background: When his kind, the Khemetar, descended to Earth thousands of years ago, Thoth was there
to help bring the people of the Nile into greatness. The wisest of their kind and a great scientist, Thoth
taught the Egyptians how to write and gave them the gift of laws. As such, he and his bretheren were
worshipped as gods, and thus they lead the pharoahs to spread their influence across the globe. He saw
the human race as his children and treated them as such
The Golden Age Egyptian Empire lasted thousands of years, and soon surpassed even the greatest of
civilizations on Earth Prime. It only ended when the god Set desired more power. Set gathered a group
of followers and, using hellish creatures of his own design, started a war that spread across all of Egypt,
which now spanned several planets.
Thoth did everything he could, but once Set released the great beast Apep, there was no hope. As he
watched the gods fall one by one to the monstrous serpent, Thoth knew he only had one chance of
escape. Flying to the Heliopolis, The God's floating City of Light, he alone fought Set. Despite Thoth's
great power, Set's brute force and treachery quickly overpowered the god. Knowing his world was lost,
Thoth overloaded the dimensional gateway in the palace of Amon-Re, sending the city flying through time
and space. When Thoth woke up again, Set was nowhere to be seen, and the Earth he saw below him
was not his own. Nevertheless, Thoth saw the so called 'superhumans' at work defending the innocent
and vowed to make sure this Earth did not suffer the same fate as his own.
Thoth lives in the same city he dwelled in on his home dimension, yet it is a much lonlier life. All his
fellow gods were killed when the great beast Apep tore through his home dimension, and now the only
beings occupying Heliopolis (other than himself) are the Ushabti, the mindless robots that keep the city a
shining home fit for the gods that no longer exist.

Is this still recruiting? One of my games just got canceled and I have some time to spare and I have a shadow/darkness controller build without a home.
English isn't my native language. Have patience, please.

Arrogant and snobbish person who likes to bully "low-lives". Speaks nearly without accent unless highly agitated, but uses German terms sometimes. He is still new to the side of the angels and the personality and attitude will quickly change once exposed to the right people, his arrogance only hiding a loneliness.

Background:
Gerald von Nachtburg is the last descendant of an impoverished German noble family. He inherited the secret birthright of the oldest living descendant of his line. Nobody knows the source of this power for certain. Rumors range from strange meteor radiation to pacts with unspoken powers.
But he certainly knows how to use it and made continuous advancements during his carrier. Starting as a simple thief by shadowstepping into bank vaults, he later learned to give the darkness substance, forming tendrils and even becoming one with it. Lacking any natural stealth skills, he is less a ninja and more a thug in elegant clothes, using most peoples uneasiness with darkness to intimidate them.
Finally caught, a psychic profile and other evidence revealed that restrained himself much in taking out a single guard, taking care to do no permanent damage and never assaulted anyone on purpose. With the need for new heroes, a former "villain" with a malleable personality might be just the material they needed.
He accepted their offer to suspend his sentence in return for joining a newly formed hero team.

Looks decent enough. I like simple builds. By the way, recruitment will be open till next Monday...also, if anyone else sees a problem or miscalculation in their stats, let them or me know. I got a bit of a numbers problem sometimes and do appreciate any help.
