[lame mage] Zodiac Ring released!

Postby Ben Robbins » Thu Aug 25, 2005 5:01 pm

I admit it. After GenCon and an undisclosed number of months playtesting M&M Second Edition, we needed a nap. Just a little time to rest our eyes.

But that time is over. Now is another time. A time of giving. A time of joy.

Image

Zodiac Ring is now available. It's a 40 page PDF adventure for M&M Second Edition, available through RPGNow. It includes a dozen detailed NPCs all created from the ground up to take advantage of 2nd Edition, a core plot that will put your players in the thick of it, and enough action to pack a mini-campaign.

Zodiac Ring has been carefully playtested. It is packed with tricks and tools to make your life as a GM easier, and to help you bring the best game possible to your table. From things like action Shticks to highlight classic dramatic moments, to detailed 2nd Edition tactics for every character, to clearly outlined Revelations to help you run a complex scenario without breaking too much of a sweat.

Our goal is that once you read it, you will want to run it. And when you run it, it will rock.

Uncover the mysteries of the Zodiac Ring.

Confront moral dilemmas.

Bust some heads.

Purchase direct from YourGamesNow or RPGNow. You can also download excerpts from our web site to get a sneak peak, including a complete action scene and two character write-ups.

Special thanks to all the playtesters who participated in making Zodiac Ring what it is today. No game is complete until you sic a horde of rabid players on it.

You should probably include a link directly to the product page at RPGNow, so as to better facilitate impulse buying. :D

Good tip Bob. I added it.

(this wouldn't be Bob from the MM2 playtest list would it?)

I've had Zodiac Ring for a while but I am only just running it for my players. I have to say that they are really into it. I opted to have one of our group awakened as a Zodiac.

I switched the order around and tweaked the story a little to allow our one flame-based character to be awoken as Aries. She is really playing up the part of thinking her character is now a god.

I really like this product and my group is having a blast playing it.

I have to say, this is one of the things I've found to be really cool about the publishing process: I write up this adventure, put it on a shelf, and a GM can come along a few months (or a few years) later and pull the ripcord and run it. Fun in a box, freeze-dried to withstand the test of time.

Oooh definitely. Having a hero awakened as a Zodiac, or at least someone close like a significant other, is a real must. It kicks the superheroes out of the usual "who are we stopping this week" stance and sucks them right in.

Good stuff.

My group were running around fighting the good fight but only seeming to do crowd control and being frustrated by the actions of the awakened Zodiacs. THEN.... one of the group suddenly is Awakened!!! They were flooreed.. It was great!!

I took the player aside and let her in on the secret right before the game. She was eager to play along. After the character was awakened, she got up and left the table. The others thought that she was dead. She returned to the table and slipped right into the character of the new Avatar. This was the biggest punch to the group.

I really like the way the adventure was written and how it flowed. Keep up the great work!!!

Okay people, I finally finished reading Zodiac Ring, and I've got to say, I really felt like I got my money's worth with this one. I like the various options Ben has been kind enough to include, as well as the little bits of humor he's thrown in. I would really like to see the Zodiac Ring make a return trip as a printed source book some where down the line as thoroughly enjoyed it. If you're a GM with a couple of bucks you can spare, I'd recommend downloading a copy for your group. Overall I'd give it 3 out 4.

My group just finished playing through the module and I have to say that the group enjoyed it.

The finale took place IN Blackstone Prison. It's amazing what a prison with high-power nullifiers can do. That and a team that was just that darn deperate. The adventure ended with the awakened character fighting for the ring with the other Zodiac member(s). It was fumbled (both parties rolled 1's) and then another member of the group picked up the ring. He then decided to rule the world. That was when everything went south!!!

The government took the ring and advised the heroes that it was disposed of properly. <Dum Dum DUUUM>

All in all, the adventure was very good and was very-much enjoyed.

You mean another PC? If so, that's a character who's really getting into the spirit of the thing! Kudos.

That sounds a lot like a review to me :D

If you hurry you can be the first Lame Mage review on YourGamesNow -- you can enter reviews even if you purchased a product at another store. Heck, post your review on both YGN and RPGNow if you want, I won't complain!

Now you just have to figure out how a four-star scale converts to a five-star scale...

Yup... One of the other PC's grabbed the ring and then decided to seize control of the ring's power for his own use. When the other PC, who had been awakened, challenged him, he took it upon himself to teleport her to the top of a mountain in the Himilayas.

Oh, I don't think the PC's have seen the last of the Zodiac Ring.

You can now get Zodiac Ring in print, either through Lulu or RPGNow.

It's our second print-on-demand product (after Evil Genius #1: World Domination), and I have to say both came out quite nicely.
