Hello everybody.

Welcome to MDSnowman's conversion thread. Here I do my best to convert existing characters from comics, movies, video games, and TV along with original characters. As of December 23rd 2006 this thread is now updated with everything that existed on my old thread. I hope everybody enjoys the characters!

:arrow: Batman’s own Alfred Pennyworth. He actually came out a lot better than I expected. His toughness is below the cap, but I’m assuming that he could wear some manner of body armor in his secret agent days. Aside from that he can really sneak up and hurt you with a well placed Sneak Attack. This is made easier by the fact that he’s actually got a pretty decent disguise check. There’s not really much to this build, but it does help me get closer to stating out every conceivable Bat-related character out there.

:arrow: Today I give you a pretty straight forward build, Amanda Waller. She’s a fairly low-powered character. What she does have going for her is the fact that she’s a master of social interaction. She has nearly every feat, and skill needed to talk circles around her foes. However, she’s not the inspiring type, hence no inspiration. Since she also spent time going out into the field with her teams she’s a passable fighter, but not outstanding. Also because of her various political positions she usually has command of some type of military force. Hence the minions. She also has forty equipment points. Spend those on a Head Quarters or Vehicles for her. However, if she’s going out into the field spend it on a Blaster Pistol and some form of body armor.

:arrow: Ahhh Aquaman. Much lamented in some circles I decided to go with (at least visually) the version of Aquaman somewhere between Spear-hand channeling Namor and the orange shirt “why don’t you go talk to some fish” Aquaman. The Bracelet and Water Hand that it produces gives Arthur tons of nifty abilities. He can counter magical powers, heal, and even glimpse the past, present, and future. And of course he can use his watery hand to drown someone. Of course when all is said and done Aquaman still has superhuman strength, endurance, telepathy and mind control of fishes and enough Teamwork where you know he can be a team player despite his years channeling Namor.

:!: Update: 4/25/06 :!:

Aquaman gets a trim, I woke up and realized "Hey wait he's Aquaman". He's now PL 10, and 165pp.

:arrow: Here’s Azrael. He’s one mean hombre. Unlike many Bat family characters he relies less on finesse for his damage, he merely needs to tap into “the system” and let the rage take over. Either that or unsheathe his sword. You see in the comics that he seems to prefer his flaming daggers. This is due in large part because he can use his rage to reach the damage cap, and their Auto-Fire nature fives them a better chance to do quite a bit of damage. The flaming nature of his weapons would largely be FX, but these weapons do have a fire descriptor in addition to any other descriptors they have normally. I gave him the normal Identity Drawback because originally he could only access his enhanced physical abilities when he was dressed for battle.

:arrow: Bane is frankly, a monster. Against most foes he’s designed to hit hard, and leave a grease stain. However he really shines in situations where he has a chance to be creative. Bane is very strong, but only slightly above the human peak. As a result he’s also accurate and a little harder to hit, in the end a very canny fighter. He’s also built to wreak havoc with Batman. With his Master Plan and ultimate grapple check he’ll be able to get his mitts on Batman and begins to chokehold him. And to make sure he can stick around in the fight that long he has exceptional saves making him especially resistant to Batman’s utility belt. It really boils down to the fact that Bane is the sort of Foe Batman can only outsmart, not beat down like he may be able to do to Joker, Riddler, Penguin, or Scarecrow. When somehow deprived of his Venom Bane must make a fortitude save (DC 15) each round or become fatigued, then exhausted, and finally unconscious. Meanwhile the boost provided by his venom lasts for 10 rounds per point.

:arrow: Barbara Gordon as Batgirl is an entirely different animal than Cassandra as Batgirl. Cassandra was built to do one thing, fight in melee combat with lots of minions with deadly skill. Babs is more of a thinking man's Batgirl. She brings a lot of skills to the table, is really a human swiss army knife with her utility belt, can track down intelligence and can even mess up a few thugs. She really lacks in combat stopping power however, but she's a better support character than Cassie for that same reason. Later when Babs becomes Oracle she takes her strengths and hyper focuses on them turning her into one of the few heroic masterminds in comics.

:arrow: I really struggled with how to emulate Cass’s power. So I came up with a version of danger sense. She'll always be ready for battle, and because I attached a lot of feats to the power she'll find herself in sad shape if ever deprieved of it. The Concentration Extra of Cassie's Strike allows her to press an attack, and with a successful concentration check can do so as move action effectively allowing her to attack twice! Between her power loss flaw and the myriad of feats attached to her Danger Sense Cass suddenly loses a lot of her punch if ever deprived of her Danger Sense. The result here is ultimately one of the meanest martial artist characters I’ve ever seen. In hand to hand combat she’ll wipe the floor with most characters without high toughness saves and/or impervious protection. If I had to put together the perfect situation to defeat Cass with it would be to stun her. Then she can't defend herself, can't keep up her concentration attacks, and if stunned as opposed to dazed her Toughness save and defense drop like rocks. From there you can wail on her and hopefully keep juggling her in a stunned state.

Batgirl gets updated, essentially I bumped her up to PL 10, 150pp by giving her an all purpose attack bonus as opposed to a specialized unarmed attack bonus.

:arrow: Batman is tough all around, however to get the most out of his attacks he should use his master plan ability and try to catch his foes in surprise attacks. His Fearsome Presence has a DC of 16 and effects 30 feet around him. Batman, when truly prepared, will be unstoppable the first few rounds of combat, with a little luck his foes will be flat-footed, and he’ll have a bonus to hit from his master plan. Between that and his utility belt a foe will likely be beat up before he can fight Batman on equal footing.

Batman has gotten a face lift. I've spent all his equipment points, trimmed the fat, and tweaked his utility belt with an eye toward being able to provoke many different saves.

Updated. He's up to 210 now. Big thanks to BARON for furnishing me a list of languages. The extra points have been spent almost exclusively on skills.

Batman got tweaked again, had him take ranks in dodge focus to defray the cost of his defense bonus. I used the extra points to shore up a few short comings. Gave him better Initiative, Diplomacy, and a luck feat for good measure.

FINALLY the Bat gets an update. Ever since The Mastermind’s Manual came out I’ve been trying to think of a way to switch Batman’s Utility belt over to variable power or gadgets. Well Reading Baron’s Batman build helped me make that leap. With the left over points I was able to give Batman Alfred as a Minion and add his two other vehicles as alternate powers to the Batmobile.

:arrow: Alright I built Terry with a similar design philosophy to Nightwing, basically a watered down Batman. Terry lacks Batman’s wealth of skills and feats, and makes it up in the enhanced abilities conferred by his suit. With Bruce constantly linked to what Terry is doing it only appears that he has great investigative skills. I believe that The Batcave, the new Batmobile, and even Ace as a minion are all paid for by Bruce as a character. He’d still be PL 12 but with drastically reduced physical skills, and even more ranks in equipment.

:arrow: The only reason I did Captain Marvel was so I could do Black Adam. Physically he’s a match for Billy, but he’s much smarter and his eidetic memory gives him a deeper knowledge base. Also unlike Billy Adam has the ability to provoke a decent feint with his Intimidate check. That and a good sense motive check makes Black Adam a tough customer and actually more dangerous than Captain Marvel. I would declare that Captain Marvel and Black Adam's power immunity would extend to one another blast powers making any fight between the two purely a slug fest.

:arrow: Wow this proved to be a tougher build than I originally expected. Dinah is a cross between a hardcore martial artist character and a blaster. The result I came up with was a mess of feats, and one really nasty canary cry. She can use it to deafen foes, blast them, shatter objects, or stun foes. However the Canary cry takes so much time to warm up that she’ll only use it in situations where that kind of power will do her the most good. Usually these moments are in team situations or at the start of a battle. I gave her a combination of the feats listed under Judo and the ones under Boxing. When I throw Grappling Finesse, and Improved Throw into the mix Black Canary becomes a very nasty combatant in close quarters combat. As one of the more gifted pure martial artists in the DCU I gave Dinah a few ranks in Strike like I did with Batman. I realized that Dinah is the first Martial Artist type character I’ve built since Batman that does not rely on a weapon or a power as their standard attack in most situations. Expect characters like that to have the same Strike Power.

Hey I figured out how to come up with a good touch range area attack (which with the cone area fit the canary try perfectly). So Dinah gets that and a new picture.

:arrow: Here’s a build I’ve been putting off for a little while, Blue Devil. I went for the original “stunt man fused into a demonic costume” version, not the “yeah I’m a demon and my Trident is nasty” version. He’s not bad in a fight, actually he’s a very effective Minion sweeper who can use his increased strength to be a threat to most PL 8-11 characters. However his Defense is almost non-existent if you can catch him flat-footed, and while he has a good initiative it’s far from superb.
